Help me flash - Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Questions & Answers

Could any one help me flash xiaomi.eu in my 8 Se, step wise?
I am going to try using MIUI 10.3 8.12.20.
I have already bricked my device once while restoring from a twrp backup. :silly:
So if anyone can help me like step wise, it would be of great help.
My device currently has twrp installed.
I wish our forum had development tracks and some guides that would help newbies.

I too once bricked mine while restoring a TWRP backup. I think this unofficial TWRP isn't fully functional, often it won't work the way it should ??

[Q] Help with stock Milestone 2.2.1 from Germany

Hi everyone,
I know this will make me sound like a complete noob but it doesnt matter. Any help or any pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
I have a stock motorola milestone 2.2.1. I hate it and have read how stable some of the roms are and I would love to experiment with them. However, never having a windows phone or an HTC before I have no idea how to do this with minimizing the risk.
So I have rooted my phone with universalandroot and have installed rom manager and titanium backup. Unfortunately, I read that rom manager wont work with the Milestone.
All of the threads on boot recovery and other methods seem to differentiate from one another. Is there a safeR method. I know no method is safe. What programs do I need to install on my computer and or my phone for this to work?
I know this a lot and I truly appreciate any help and support from this forum.
Thanks

First of all, ROM Manager does not work with the milestone. So please remove it and dont ever install Clockworkmod recovery on the milestone.
Second, What ROM do you want to install?
You need Androidiani Openrecovery for all your flashing needs of customs ROMS. You will need rsdlite to flash sbf files and offcourse the Moto usb drivers. Check the sticky threads in the development section. There are many tutorials.
This is easily one of the best ways to get everything done in the way of flashing a custom ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983516
Depending on which ROM you want to install, it will determine what you need to download.
After rooting the phone, you will want to flash a vulnerable recovery sbf via RSD Lite, as shown in that thread the VR you should use will depend on your bootloader version. If you are running 90.78, then you can flash this VR: http://android.doshaska.net/rootable
After that happens, you can create a backup of all of your apps using TitaniumBackup.
Once you do that you want to place OpenRecovery(AOR) on your SD Card. Follow the steps from the first link I posted to get that on. You will want to place the custom ROM that you want into OpenRecovery/updates. If you are planning on using CM7, you will also need to download google apps from the CM7 thread here.
Once that is on, you will want to boot into recovery(power+x, see the Moto M logo, then release and push camera button+volume up), apply update.zip.
From there you want to select the Nandroid menu with the d-pad. Create a nandroid backup of what you want.
Now is the crucial step. You need to wipe the caches and ALL data. Choose wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset.
Now is time to apply your custom ROM!
It is recommended to create a nandroid backup everytime you flash a custom ROM, in case of anything going wrong.
Navigate to apply update in AOR, select the ROM that you want, select yes. Once it is done installing, wipe the caches and data AGAIN.
If you are installing the google apps, you will want to wipe the caches, flash the google apps, then wipe the caches again.
You will probably have to apply the baseband for your carrier, so you will need to navigate to change baseband, and apply the baseband for your carrier.
If you followed those steps, you should have a brand spanking new custom ROM on your phone.
Hope this helps.

Updating viper rom 2.3 -> 4.3 bricked phone

Hello All,
I would like to start by saying that i am a huge fan of XDA DEV and everything that has been done here for the android community. I myself am a noob , more or less , so i basically bricked my phone.
I decided to update my viper one rom to 4.3 9 from (2.3 ) and came across zero access to CWR and bootloops.
SOMEHOW... i managed to use ADB as well as tool kits to reinstall a cwm ( after about 100 attempts ) .. and reflash my old 2.3 viper rom.
Now i cannot access my nandroid backup which i made before flashing to 4.3. I am going to try to reflash an older version of CWRM and maybe it will be there.
Furthermore, i would like to know what the proper procedure to upgrade my device . If anyone would be so kind and instruct me, i will appreciate it.
Thank you!
EDIT :::
- I am S-on ( probably makes a difference )

HI, You are NOT bricked. (bricked means non fixable)
TWRP is clearly mentioned by op on viper thread "AT LEAST Twrp 2.6.3.3 required (If you experience issues with Twrp 2.6.3.4, please downgrade by flashing TWRP 2.6.3.3 through the ViperOne installer main menu)
Sprint and Butterfly support is not available on 4.x.x yet. Last working rom for Sprint and Butterfly S is 3.5.0"
Are you on sprint? see above
Also, when s-on, need to extract boot.img and flash it via fastboot (fastboot flash boot bootimg).
clean install imminent for that huge update.
read first page again for better understandinghttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334294
don't mention "bricked" and will find more help

[CLOSED BY OP] No more sound (including calls) on EMUI 5/Nougat ! Please help !

Hey guys !
I really need some help. I installed Nougat on my device and it worked fine. I even rooted it using these files : https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/twrp-t3588356
Everything worked fine. I could even do Nandroid backups with apparently no issue. But I think this occured when I restored.
Now I don't have any sound at all, including when someone calls me. I don't think this is hardware related. Plus, boot logo shows "android" instead of "honor".
Please tell me I can do something. Flash some file ? I tried the factory reset and wiped everything from TWRP with no luck...
Edit : Phone sent back to customer service. For your sake, I recommend you to be careful if you decide to use this TWRP. Everything seemed to work fine before I flashed a nandroid backup (I'm pretty sure this is what caused the issue), but one can never be too careful. My advice ? Don't use it on your daily device, wait for an official TWRP release (meaning stick with the stock ROM if you want EMUI 5/Nougat) or stay with Marshmallow for the time being if you need root.

Begin to customize phone OS...

Greet, guys!
I do this topic to solve some doubts and help new costumers with flashing OSs... If somebody can help thank you very much in advance.
I have losted and IMEI brick an old celphone making flashs so here are the questions.
- flashing with ADB can lost the IMEI ?
- flashing install TWRP can lost the IMEI?
- If I just do the TWRP install and flash some OSs can I lost IMEIs or brick my celphone?
Just simple question, in my opinion, but lose IMEI is not a thing that I want in the moment.
That's all, guys!
Best regards.
as long as you follow directions and don't do anything crazy, you probably won't brick the phone. i've rooted and installed custom roms on every phone i've had since ics and never permabricked anything. if you lose imei the fix is simple and can be found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/how-to/psa-flash-devices-persist-imei-loss-t3828575
i recommend making sure the data is working before you unlock the bootloader, and checking every box in twrp backup except maybe system image before you flash anything.
Thanks for answer, xtasquee...
I pretend do all TWRP backups before installing. I just have to know If I flash with ADB I'll add data only or erase some data?
When I lost my IMEI in other phone model I cannot restore anyway, that's why I'm carefully.
Tks for link too.

Question Need help urgently, can't restore backup

Please help anyone.
I was using old version of MIUI on Redmi 5A. I did backup from setting then I copied to my PC and installed new MiUI fastboot ROM after unlocking but now when I'm trying to restore, everything is getting restored except Apps and it's data. I really need those apps because it have 2FA codes also. Please help me
Is it because of using different version of MiUI which was previously used to backup?
(Sorry for posting it in wrong section)

"Is it because of using different version of MiUI which was previously used to backup?" unfortunately i don't know the answer but you can try it out with this (maybe unofficial) software which lets you flash earlier than the newest but only official ROMs or recovery (or seems to be official) . Thankfully it doesnt need an unlock bootloader but maybe you have to take your phone in EDL mode to flash it.
