We’re really excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Pie betas.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those who are unfamiliar, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhances the overall user experience.
The beta builds include adjustments and improvements on top of the stock Android CAF base. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features.

This is awesome! I first used PA back when it's biggest feature was navbar and status bar colors. Super excited to be downloading it now.

Is twrp not working due to the official release that hasn't been updated?

Anyone have screenshots?

Is there a reason for fastboot w? Is this rom currently decrypted?

Awesome. I do have one correction, though: most recent TWRP builds DO have touch support, mainly if it's installed via the flashable zip OR with the patched boot img for stock. Just figured I'd mention that.

Looks like there's a bootloop issue installing magisk and flashing twrp from the installer zip to both partitions, anyone else have this issue?
Edit: Looks like after installing the ROM - it overwrites the recovery flash from the above-patched twrp (Jan-Patch from Reddit source), it then just forces the boot to hang.
Edit 2:Looks like I got it to work, after installing the ROM, reboot back into recovery mode, flash the jan-patch twrp img again using fastboot.
Edit 3: Nope looks like a persistent bootloop. Gonna leave this ROM alone until it gets magisk and a proper TWRP fixed

Looks like the boot loop issue is occurring on both this ROM and the AOSIP ROM, leads me to believe this might be an issue with the patched TWRP possibly?

Anybody able to get this working with gapps? If I flash the rom it boots fine. If I flash twrp with it, it boots fine. But once I try to flash gapps it just hangs on the aospa boot animation
I tried with opengapps pico and nano as well as simplegapps

Are we talking about the same thing? The patch image in this thread or the original TWRP img from the original TWRP website?

After installing I can no longer access adb or fastboot commands, tried multiple devices, they all still detect my V40 in ADB but not the PH-1, any idea why?

Thanks for the ROM all wok good
This is how I install it
Flash ROM from twrp
Flash twrp installer
Reboot to twrp
Flash magisk
Reboot to system
Reboot to twrp
Flash gapps (micro)

ROM in early development stage, released just for pie preview. needs testing
Awesome! Thanks for this!
Edit: Is it recommended to be on August or September build?
Sweet! Want to give this a shot, but I am a bit unsure how to flash gapps with it. I searched the other build's forum, and couldn't see on it either. Do I flash build, boot, then flash gapps, like on other A/B devices? Or do I just flash gapps at ROM installation?
Is TWRP built in?
Does this use an EAS kernel?
So I attempted to flash, but I am getting the error stating I am using an incorrect version gapps. States I am running 8.1, not 9. Anyone else have any ideas?
EDIT: I was able to modify the installer sh to force it to install, but every copy of gapps prompts and states there is not enough space in the system partition.

Have you tried installing the smallest gapps package? I had this same issue on another device.
Gapps screws up sometimes. Try remounting system and vendor while in twrp, reboot recovery then try flashing gapps again. I bet it works.

I just flash the hyp.mbn from August before booting to recovery, then after installing whatever, go back to bootloader and flash the sept hyp.mbn.. just that file is all u need. Just be sure to reflash the current hyp file or any build based on sept wont work and vice versa.
flashed the 0930 build, bluetooth is broken.
Display setting - Full screen apps is in there, but i open or close the option, it seems doesn't work.. (i test it in my games
The screen became rounded corners, can this be a option for users? or it can be off by default?
some settings seems are not ready for pie, such as privacy guard, expanded desktop...

I already removed rounded corners in the upcoming build. Also it's stated in second post that it's early development stage, so don't expect everything to work properly. It's still experimental and we don't even have official lineage sources for mata. So thanks to @KuranKaname for his work
That full screen apps feature is lineage stuff. I already did what I could to add it on mata. From the comments on gerrit we can read:
I don't have an exact example app in mind but >=O apps can still manually limit maxAspectRatio to lower values like 1.86 or 2.1 (which could be obsolete for future long long screens). (It is not you are >= O so you are good with long screens)

i) <O apps that previously needed the max aspect ratio setting to 2.1 to work in full screen. eg https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telltalegames.batman200

4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Install Instructions:
Other than previously provided ROMs, this is using the "normal" method of providing a flashable zip.
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.
You must at least use TWRP 3.4.0-1 by @mauronofrio to flash this.
Download the ROM and optionally GApps, reboot to TWRP.
Flash the ROM
Reboot recovery (to switch between slots)
Flash GApps (optional)
Format /data*
Done
*As TWRP is currently unable to format /data you can use fastboot to format
Code:
fastboot -w
It appears that fastboot on Windows has issues with the wipe command. In that case use both of the following commands
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase metadata

Wow! Another rom awesome job!
let the ROMs start yeahhh
More roms!!! Yaaas
If coming by from another rom, do I just format data first and then flash Carbon or should I reflash OOS on both slots again?
@Myself5, you say to reboot twrp in between for flashing gapps to another partition. Do I read it right? Or do we need to flash the rom again to another partition after rebooting twrp

We dont need to format user data if you are on OOS do you?

so for me this doesnt work and i dunno what i am doing wrong.
flashed oos to both slots, flashed your twrp, flashed rom, reboot to recovery and device doesnt decrypt so no gapps to install. booting up ends in sticking at carbon boot logo.

fastboot -w

EDIT: As of TWRP 3.4.0-1 by @mauronofrio you can flash Carbon with that just fine.
I discovered Bluetooth is broken in yesterdays build. This has been fixed in CARBON-CR-8.0-PAX-UNOFFICIAL-instantnoodlep-20200627-1418 which has just been uploaded.
Note: During the tests today I noticed that GApps seems to be finniky when updating. When I flashed Gapps I sometimes ended up in a bootloop because some parts of GApps were missing despite them flashing successfully in TWRP. Force rebooting and flashing them again fixed that. It is yet to be determined if this is a ROM or a TWRP issue but I am working with @mauronofrio on fixing the issue.

Hello,
I flashed my A1 with the latest ROM. When I boot up, a black screen is shown with only the time displayed on the extreme left hand side of the screen. Also the phone is stuck in a boot loop. What could have gone wrong? When I tried flashing gapps I got an error saying my android version is 9 and the gapps is made for version 10. HELP.
P.S. I unlocked my bootloader now for the first time on this device.

Hello Dev, Even I'm facing the issue of stuck in booting logo. Clean flashed the ROM and waited for more than 10mins, but still stuck in booting sequence.
Steps I followed:
Flash tissot_images_V10.0.23.0.PDHMIXM_20200707.0000.00_9.0_b49c1d0e32 via fastboot(complete wipe).
Boot into official TWRP twrp-3.4.0-0-tissot.img and wipe all partition.
Fastboot boot TWRP and flashed the ROM(pa-quartz-4-tissot-20200723-dev.zip) with TWRP zip
Reboot into TWRP and flash OpenGapps Nano 18/07 build and Magisk v20.4(also tried without Magisk on third try)
Boot into system. Here it is stuck on bootlogo for a while.
Have tried the above mentioned(minus fastboot flash of stock ROM) steps thrice. First tried with /Data partition formated to F2FS format which resulted in boot loop. Thought F2FS might not be supported, hence converted back to EXT4 and tried once again from beginning. But still the same result. The third try was without Magisk.

Upgrade Instructions: (from 17.1 to 18.1)

Notes:
1. lineage-18.1 comes with adb root that you can enable in developer options, but if you want root for apps, you can grab the magisk apk and rename it to .zip and install it in lineage recovery.
An alternative install method is to follow these boot.img patching instructions. You can get the boot img directly from the lineage download site. It's labeled as the recovery img but it's actually the boot img.
2. The newest vendor, radio, & bootloader are included in the lineage rom zip, so no need to worry about updating those manually.
Known issues:
1. when you format data in lineage recovery, you might see "cant send spi message". you can ignore it.
2. there's an issue with sprint mobile data not working. we're looking into it. there's an easy workaround though. send me a pm and i'll walk you through it.

On crosshatch alternate build it's working very smooth and incredible well for first build, so far the only problem it's that gaming heats faster than usual.

Thank you so much, it works fine on crosshatch, any updates are highly appreciated!
For me, it is an exclusion criteria if there is no root and no lineageos available for a device.
____
The only problem for me was to use the wrong version of Magisk ending up in a non booting device.
So if you update to lineage-18 and want to get root, you will want to take the canary version of magisk manager to patch the boot.img.
#Crosshatch
great to see the simplest rom available
it booted with the first link provided.
much obliged
I will use it and report my experience with it.

Hi razorloves. Thanks for all your hard work. But I'm having serious issues booting into any lineage recovery (I've tried multiple nightly builds from 17.1 and multiple boot.img from this thread). All are failing. I do fastboot flash boot boot.img (I've also tried both boot_a and boot_b) but once i reboot it goes back into fastboot and give me an error with the boot img. Yet when I do htis with twrp-3.3.0-0-blueline.img i boot into twrp fine. (only issue there being that the zip files for lineage os fail to flash when installing from twrp. I've also tried with stock recovery and that give the same error as twrp).
I should also note that when i do fastboot boot boot.img the boot just hangs and never goes through.
Any suggestions?

Razorloves contacted me directly and help me sort out the issue. My problem is I first needed to flash to the CORRECT stock rom. (I was using the oldest android 9 rom. for 17.1 I needed newest 10 rom, for this I needed newest 11 rom).
Thanks,

Getting a 404 error now :-(
OmniROM - zenfone8
Using the ROM in the original post is great. Do we report bugs here?
SIM 1 doesn't work. It'll show your carrier but won't work. I tried with 1 and 2 SIMs at once. Only SIM 2 will work.
When you select the option to hide the nav bar (which is great because then it pushes the keyboard down), even if you're using gesture navigation, the back gesture stops working. Hiding the pill isn't as good because the keyboard and some apps leave a huge gap at the bottom.
Not necessarily a bug, but it looks like the GAPPs version can't get system updates? What's the best way to have Google apps but also utilize the system updates feature. (I know there probably aren't any updates available at the moment.)

I would really appreciate if someone who is anyway gonna try this ROM and use it to post some kind of short review. I am mostly interested in stability, battery life and camera (as usually on custom ROMs camera quality is way worse compared to stock)

OmniROM - zenfone8
Woops
I don't know if this is coincidence or ROM-related, but has anyone else had adb and fastboot problems? Since flashing the June version of OmniROM I can't get my computer to recognize my phone in fastboot or recovery ADB. Nothing shows up in Device Manager at all.
Everything works fine from within Android, but once I get into recovery it's just silence. Same symptoms on my Win10 desktop, Win10 laptop, and terminal on OnePlus 5. As far as I'm aware I can't update the ROM, restore factory firmware, or root the phone without fastboot and/or ADB.
EDIT: I tried several other Windows, Linux, and Android devices and none would even acknowledge that I had plugged something in, but yesterday I tried my mom's ASUS laptop and my phone showed up in Device Manager without even needing drivers. I was able to fastboot flash TWRP and update the ROM. I still have no explanation for why so many devices didn't work or why this one did, but at least all of that is behind me.
