[PETITION] Regarding Airtel VoLTE - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Guides, News, & Discussio

Dear Developers and Friends,
After 1805.309 update our device started supporting Airtel VoLTE. but unfortunately our Service Provider(Airtel) not enabling VoLTE to all the mobile number. we don't know why airtel not giving VoLTE to most of their customers. some people getting the VoLTE and some people not getting. we tried sim replacement, temporarily switched to airtel supported phones also, but volte not enabled. Airtel intentionally closed VoLTE for selected customers.
This is purely airtel side issue. so i have opened petition against Airtel for the VoLTE. this is basic feature needed for 4G network. without VoLTE we facing network disconnection whenever call or sms arrives.
please go to the below link and sign the petition and share it in FB and tweet this petition in airtel official twitter handle.

I'm having airtel VoLte for my sim.... But it actually sucks... Mobile data only works great til afternoon...And at night it don't even works...But my mom's sim don't have VoLte support and it works great all the time...I've asked Airtel about this issue and They said that it's still in beta session ..And will be only available to selected users.. Those users may face Network fluctuations ,which is worse than non VoLte users face..

my brother got new airtel sim, he got volte immediately after activation. i am using airtel about 6 years, but still they not enabled to me. airtel launched volte service for my area in December 2017. 1 year completed still no sign of volte for me. if i made complaint they simply replying stupidly "your device is not supported".
i think airtel completed beta testing for their volte services. now airtel giving volte almost all the area in india except J&K.

True that.. Airtel has not listed any Asus device in VoLTE supported handsets. There are lots of other manufacturers including many Chinese brands. Shame on the services provider..

Yes. For Redmi Note 5 Pro, VoLTE got activated on day 1 but for Max Pro M1 not done yet.

Got Volte today, idk how!!

LTE on D821 (India) with Airtel

Alright, so here's a little background.
I've bought my hammerhead in India. However, there were no "Airtel" bands to provide LTE for our phone.
I had performed compatibility checks and it confirmed that my phone was not supported.
I didn't bother much, cause I had WiFi everywhere.
Recently, we got a couple of jio Sims at my place.
Last night I popped in the Reliance Jio sim to check how the net works and well, it has free net, so decided to use it up.
I used it all merrily and was done with it for the day. Decided to pop back in my Airtel sim.
Here's the weird part.
I switch off my phone, pop in my Airtel SIM, boot it up.
To my surprise, I see LTE on my network bar.
I thought, may be my phone was not displaying the info properly, since I'm using a custom ROM.
I did a little digging and it was confirmed that my network had switched to LTE/4G.
I'm still not clear what happened here.
May be Jio activated any bands? Is there such a possibility?
If there's anyone out there who could probably give an idea as to what changed, it would be great
Please note that I'm using Airtel in "Karnataka".

Like Delhi NCR, airtel has launched FDD-LTE on band 3 in KA. Hence, the 4G support.
Even jio has multiband 4G, band 3 and band 40.

Oh.. since when? Was there something that I had to change? Cause I used jio just for few hours and then switched back to Airtel.. there must be some setting that changed that resulted in my Airtel giving me LTE as well.
That's what I'm more curious about. By the way.. thanks for the info.

Exynos variant

Can anyone confirm the compatibility of the Exynos variant with T-mobile? Frequency check websites show 100% compatibility but looking for personal experience feedback. Also curious if B66 works as intended in the US.

I just noticed that the service is like just a little worse, you most likely wont notice a difference.
Anyone play around with the idea of loading the T-mobile S8 firmware onto the Exynos international version of the phone to see if that would be enough to get Wifi calling working? Wifi calling is essential to me since I work in a building with great wifi but no service.

You cannot install Snapdragon firmware on an Exynos based phone. This will lead to a brick. The only thing from a Snapdragon firmware you can install I believe is CSC but don't quote me on that.

I was also wondering if flashing the tmobile CSC to the 955F would enable wifi calling. The only LTE band that the Exynos variant doesn't have that T-mobile uses is 66 and from what I've been able to research that's not sued int he NYC area. But wifi calling is critical. I use it a lot to call back home when I travel abroad.

That is incorrect. The 950F does support band 66. I took this from service mode on my 950F

I received my phone yesterday. After a couple sites reporting it did support band 66, I dove in and was not disappointed.

Thanks but there's something weird about your screenshot. Band 32 is out of order and is not used on any Samsung phone. I think that should be 42. I find it hard to believe that there is a typo in the service menu.
I was using frequencycheck.com and willmydevicework.com as my sources. I agree that on this point I'm positive that the 950 and 955 should be the same.

Yeah it's strange and I do think it's a typo. But that's what service mode shows, regardless of which SIM I select.
With the exynos you'll also lose VoLTE. Meaning in areas where T-Mobile is using B12 LTE to extend the range of its network (B12 LTE 700mhz goes further than their EDGE and HSPA network (1700,1900,2100mhz) so if you're in an area and only have B12 LTE signal you won't be able to make or receive calls or texts. And in an emergency scenario if there was no other network for your phone to roam to, you also wouldn't be able to dial 911. Kinda an important feature imo.
I use the 930F on t-mobile and will likely do the same with the s8. If you care about rooting, you should get a 950f. It can be rooted easily and with root, you can get TKKG1994's CSC selection tool and use it to enable VOLTE/Wifi calling). If you aren't going to root, then the carrier phone is good.
I don't know how gigabit LTE is affected but I doubt in 2017 this is a game changer.

No VoLTE or VoWifi? Where are the settings.

Thought this phone was suppose to come with it. Received phone from EE on a monthly contract previous Samsung s7 had it but the XZ2 doesn't. Any ideas. Thanks

I'm using T-Mobile in the US and had WiFi calling and VoLTE available on my S8+ but it's not an option on my H8266. Doing some research it would have to be approved by T-Mobile for it to work with either of those and so far the XZ2 is not on the list. I found this information helpful, http://www.spectrumgateway.com/compatible-phones

Thank you for the info. Sony has been ignoring this fact for a while, none of the premium phones work on T-Mobile US VoLTE. It is not a certification matter as Chinese phones such as OnePlus work out of the box with T-Mobile US VoLTE making this very clear a Sony issue.
If you are on T-Mobile USA, you will have very limited coverage due lack of VoLTE support. Please be aware before you making a purchasing decision with Sony phones.
I've volte enabled and i was used previously with other phone but i can't use with xz2. Btw i tried to open phone menu service from dialer but provisioning volte option it's lock also i manually create a ims apn for volte but when i save the apn disappear so i give up.

I just finished chatting with T-Mobile support and received this message: "Alright, I apologize about that brief delay. I spoke with a tech care department. They did confirm that our network will support the device! That's awesome news!"
So, it appears that T-Mobile has certified the device for use on their networks (in addition to which, according to the phonearena . com product info page it supports all necessary bands).
Try to update carrier service apk from apkmirror. Volte still not working for me but i see improvements on signal and wifi switching from mobile data is more fast

I was assured at BestBuy that XZ2 will support VoLTE on T-Mobile. Hopefully, VoLTE will also work on imported phones.
You can also bring up the menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* into the phone keypad.
Anyone figure this out?
Also curious as I just got my XZ2 and VoLTE and wifi calling options aren't there.

VoLTE - Bell Mobility

So when I first got my P20 Pro I had VoLTE enabled and working fine but one day I noticed the HD notification was missing the dialer app no longer had the HD call button. Just noticed that when I make a call my device does actually revert back to the 3G network and I can no long "multitask" online while on a call. Of course I've also lost the ability to make video calls.
I've checked the wife S7 and can still make calls over LTE with that one. So now I'm wondering if it is the Bell network or my P20 Pro? A quick check on Bell support site shows a list of devices compatible with their VoLTE, the list shows older devices but newer ones also, P20 Pro not listed. Can't see Bell deactivating VoLTE specifically for this device, or at least I'd hope not.
Anybody else on the Bell network have this happen or is VoLTE working for you? Before I factory reset I wanna know if it's just me.
FYI. Locked and stock
On Virgin as well, just checked. Another kick in the nuts.....

VoLTE setting is ON. Is it working for you. Do you have HD calls notification on top left, HD dial button in dialer app? When not on wifi does mobile network revert to 3G for phone calls?
Yes/No? Any info would help folks.
Fido told me VoLTE not supported on the P20 Pro and I've certainly never gotten it to work

I'm starting to think the Bell network (Virgin) is the culprit here and not the device (fingers crossed). Curious as to why Bell would pull VoLTE support for the P20 Pro? Hopefully ain't no political thing (lol). Wonder if it's anything to do with Pie update and compatibility. I could say I lost VoLTE on my device almost a month now. I've tried everything in the book on my end even factory reset with no resolve and am more convinced now it's happening on Bell's side on things. Which really sucks cause I hate their support system but need to contact them find out what's going on with my service.
Thanks for the answers folks. Keep them coming.
I am on the Rogers network using an unlocked Bell P20 pro and do not have the VoLTE function so i wonder if it is disabled on Bell hardware?

Google about this. Rogers and Fido do the IMEI whitelisting so if you don't buy a device from them you are out of luck
just to inform you guy, I have p20 pro telus(unlocked) I put bell sim and asked bell to enable volte. it works. and it should work on virgin too.

Only Rogers(Fido) blocks you from using their IMS
I've been wondering the same. Got my P20 Pro with Bell a couple of weeks ago. About a week ago, I noticed "HD" at the top left of my notification bar, but it only lasted a few seconds and never returned. After that, I discovered that I'm always connected to LTE, but when I make a call it drops to 3G, and then after the call it reverts back to LTE.
When I insert the Bell SIM into my S7 Edge, it stays connected to LTE at all times.
How is it possible that it showed "HD" very briefly several days ago and never came back? Perhaps Bell was just testing HD on the network for a few minutes? I've always had VoLTE enabled in the settings.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I have two friends with an iPhone 8+, one on Rogers, the other on Bell, and they both drop to 3G when on a call.
Thanks for the info. I will contact them.

Please keep us posted!
Just got of the phone with Rogers, the Support specialist tried and also followed up with their network specialist, it is a no go, this was what they said:
"Since the device is not a Rogers device it wont allow VoLTE calls and the VoLTE notification is not being pushed to this IMEI. This gets enabled on the network and since the device is not Rogers it wont allow for it to register. So just make sure when you purchase the phone its from the same carrier as the one you are looking to use as it can cause compatibility issues. All phones get a pre-configured file when they are sent to Carriers and based on the carrier provisioning of the device it becomes compatible to the network."
It looks like some of us are out of luck.

I've had this device for about 3 months now and would say it's been about 1 month since I've lost VoLTE service
Just got off the phone with Bell support. Didn't really get anywhere as expected, other then many apologies and an open service ticket to try and find out if it's their end or the P20 Pro. Should hear back within 2 weeks. Again, as expected.
Fido sucks.. might switch to Rogers soon... my work has a ok deal.. $55/mo for 6gb and unlimited calls/text canada wide.

Love the phone, but hate all the issues with Verizon

I am seriously considering returning this bad boy. It sucks because it's a great device. But so many friends & family have newer iPhones so I can't answer their calls. Also no VoWifi is a killer for me. I'm so torn, because OP knocked it out of the park with this one.

Verizon has always been a pain in the ass if you just swap SIMs. Call them. Register it. :good:
Get a new carrier.
All the other carriers service are inferior in my area.

You must call Verizon and give them the Imei. A standard Sim swap will not make this phone work for certain aspects on Verizon. When they do the Sim swap they turn off CDMA for your line which makes it actually work.
No SIM swap is needed for VZW. You just have to tell them you have a certified phone that needs to be set up as "CDMA-less". If you had a 6t on VZW, you already have that.
OnePlus is aware of the issues with HD calling set on the newer iPhones so it will be a software fix.
All that said, the 7 Pro is not officially certified by VZW as the 6T was.
The only annoying bug for me is the caller ID in the dialer showing restricted

I call BS on this. I tried online and said my current sim that was in my S10+ was bad would not allow for a transfer. I swapped sim to 7 pro and no issues with calls/texts/data etc etc works flawlessly

You can believe whatever you want I am just trying to help you. That’s exactly what it does for me the system is not designed for an online device swap to a CDMA-less device. They can definitely do it for you through chat as well. But hey if you want to keep having problems enjoy .
Only thing I had to do was have them enable CDMA-less back when I switched to the McLaren 6T from the Pixel 2 XL. Pulled that same SIM out of that phone and popped it in this and have only noticed the RESTRICTED caller ID thing today. No issues with texts or anything else.
Swapped my wife's SIM from HTC 10 straight into her 7Pro. Everything but incoming texts worked. Went online and ran through the "ad a new phone to existing line" tool and all works great on VZW; her backlog of texts came streaming in (wifi calling/texting aside)
Don't need to actually talk to anyone. All online for me.
Make sure you call Verizon and have them add CMDA-less Roam onto your line. You will not get proper service otherwise. I had a OnePlus 6t on verizon with zero issues. You might need to call more than one time to find a rep that knows what you are talking about. Just tell them there is a feature that needs to be added to your line and it is called CDMA-less Roam. You don't even have to call, you can do it directly through the website. Registering the IMEI fixed all those problems and took about 2 minutes.
New update out there to download and install manually, works great I'm on Verizon and it fixed the iPhone incoming call issue!!

Can confirm that this works perfectly. Only issue I have now with VZW is the no wifi calling. Came from a pixel 2xl, and this phone is night and day better. My data speeds are even much much faster now as well.

[/ it appears that 9.5.8 fixes the caller ID issue on Verizon
