Is my phone battery dead? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I got my note 9 two months ago, I downloaded Accubattery today to check battery life then I charged it from 7% to 100%. I was shocked when saw that the battery capacity is reduced a lot! The app says it is now 3505mAh !!! With only TWO MONTHS OF USE !!!
Is that app accurate ?
I play PUBG a lot but that is why I bought the phone; because it is powerful and SUPPOSED to deal with that much of usage !!
I also use VPN all the time
I use 4G only no wifi no NFC no BT
When sleep for 6 hours with mobile data off .. standby consumption is about 2-3%/6 hours
Any suggestions ?

+1 Accubattery is way off!

+2 Ignore Accubattery, your battery usage looks about right to me.

Read this topical about battery on Note9 and do not use any battery monitoring program. Erroneous readings.

Accubattery is your problem my friend, not your battery.
Enjoy your device, stop worrying that much about the battery.

Two hours of screen time presumably playing a video game most of that time, and still have 70% battery remaining. Iphone users would kill for that kind of battery life. Think about it, 2 hours of game playing gets you 30% battery drain, then I can surmise that you can play nonstop for around 6+ hours before your battery dies. That's excellent by any standard. I remember a time when 2 hours of screen time was considered decent, and that doesn't include playing a battery intensive gave. And that time was really only a few years ago.

It seems I'm over-concerned about the battery stuff.
Thank you all.

Did you get this battery from china?
It probably has like 800mah.
Is there any battery today that does not originate in China ?
It is marked "SAMSUNG G7 1500mah".
I already tried to calibrate the battery about a week ago using a market application that claims to perform a reset of the battery stats.
after the reset I drained the battery for 3 days and recharged while the phone was off every night (during those 3 days).
then for the first few days the battery actually held up nicely reaching 50-60% after 12 hours.
after a week or so it started to drain more rapidly reaching 15-20% in the evening.
It also fails to hold 100% when the charger is unplugged, going straight to 97%.
should I try another battery or is there a another way to calibrate the battery ?

Its still quite possibly a fake samsung battery. Did it come from a reputable seller at least? If yes return it.
Heres an example of battery life with a genuine samsung 1500mah battery

Hey BenKranged
What APP did you use for that screen capture? I know this has nothing to do with this post but looking for one on the market and there are so many to choose from.

Is there a way to identify a genuine non-fake G7 battery ?
That's how mine looks. My battery does seem to drain fast when I am actually using it. But, also when I'm not using it, it seems to keep at a steady battery level for a while. I guess it's a trade off. I also use Juice Defender which definitely helps.
I probably used juice defender for about 4 months. Then I tried running without it and found I got equal or better battery life.

Where are you getting "drastic" battery drain?
You went through 48% of your battery in 7.5 hours. Thats not drastic. id consider that normal.
Also your numbers are way off.
You still have 52% battery remaining according to the screen shot.
So 76.4% usage OF 48% consumed is what is actually being represented there.
Remember that any time you look at your battery stats the calculations have to equal 100%.
So if you have 90% battery left. Then only 10% has been consumed. So of that 10% consumed its representing 100% of your apps that consumed 10% of your battery.
Now if you drain your battery to say 5% or less then you get a better representations of what is consuming your battery. But if its still going on 12+ hours your doing well.
From what i read on your screen shot your looking at around 14 hours of battery life.

I removed Google bookmark sync apk from system/app and now its 63% when I got back from school .. actually I leave for school around 7 am (phone is plugged overnight, I just unplug it and keep it my bag) use of mobile is prohibited in school so it's not even used for a second till 2 PM . Resting idle and having 48% battery drained . When I have extra classes after 2 PM I can use it and its dead by 7:30 or so in the evening .. I get 11-12 hours ...

Bad signals at school maybe?

I've heard of this problem from somewhere and from that someone suggested turning location services off in Google now or completely disabling Google now. Also an easy fix would be to put airplane mode on during school as long as you don't mind losing the possibility of someone getting in contact with you.

Normal is relative. Is it a bit on the low side? Most definitely. Normal? Maybe. It really comes down to the apps you have and how you use your phone. I personally get about 5hrs SOT and I'm fine with that. Standby drain is more important to me than SOT. There are battery saving tips and trick you can try to google or youtube.

My phone drains like 3% per hour on IDLE. I don't have AoD nor anything in particular that should be causing this drain. I have no idea why. The battery life seems to be fine for actual usage, but teeeerrible for AOD.

3% per hour no AOD is bad. You have an app causing major drain for sure. You might have to deep dive in your battery stats to find the culprit. Last resort would be safe mode to see if your able to reproduce the issue. You should go to the battery life thread and ask around.

I'm not sure what it could possibly be since my old Note 8 did this too, but it alternated every other cycle or so where it would drain less than 1% or 3%+. I exchanged it for a new one and this issue is happening again except it was completely fine for the first week or two. There was no app that I downloaded between the time that it was fine and not fine.
I guess I'll repost this in the battery thread.
i am not losing battery overnight as much as you guys, my problem now is i can't get 6-7hrs of sot anymore, 4-5 is as much as i get, and it's only 1 month old.
There was a thread about Android OS drain.

I miss my note 4. I use to get around 5-8 sot. With this phone only 3 and half hours. That's with everything turned off too. On my note 4 I had just about everything turned on. Will be waiting for the note 10 to release then I will buy the note 9

Question Accubattery showing Battery health at 47% for a new phone (1 month old)

I purchased this about a month ago. I have been reading a lot of posts out here about people having fairly low battery life. So I had installed Accubattery to see if the discharge is abnormal. I checked today and it seems like Accubattery is claiming that my battery is only at 50~% health. Now I am unsure that if this is because it is a genuine fault or because this phone is supposed to have 2 2500mAh batteries and Accubattery is detecting only one of them. Any idea about this?

I've had my 11T Pro for roughly two weeks and I have the same issue.
It doesn't read charging speed correctly which confuses it's health calculations.
I'm sure your phone is fine.

Those SOT numbers seem erratic. Some reasonable, others look impossible.
When you're using the browser not watching vids the usage should low.
As the previous poster mentioned it may just not have good sensing for battery usage.
Accubattery is only as good as the data it's getting. Even then it can screw up. I don't understand what's going on there.
Rather strange. I don't have that phone so I don't know what it's nominal run time should be. If it's running cool and you can get 8-10 hours SOT you're probably in the ball park.

Hmmm, okay. I'll continue observing my phone's behaviour then. I do get over 8-10 hours SOT on medium usage. Additionally, I read from other threads that the 120W charger isn't charging the phone fully and it makes sense to charge with a lower power charger. So I will try that as well. Will keep this thread updated if I see any improvements.
Accubattery doesn't work well with dual battery setup, that's why it's showing Battery health at 47%.
Set design capacity to 2500.
11T PRO has 2x 2500mah battery for ultra fast charging. Set the design capacity to 2500 and you will be fine.

This presents a potential problem in the future as one battery can degrade and fail independently of the other. You really need to be able to monitoring both.
If the manufacturer designed it properly each battery should have its own power controller in a perfect world. Not sure if this is so on any of the dual battery phones...

Question Why my battery life is so low?

I got this phone after seeing tons of reviews that Samsung S23 has amazing battery life
But i am ending up charging my phone twice a day because of very less battery life.
I am not a power user, mostly using phone for browsing and texting.
Yet the SOT is still so less?
I am using light mode in battery settings - Adaptive refresh rate - mostly wifi- Dual Sim 5G
25W official Samsung charger.

From your picture you can't see that the battery has been charged for the last 19 hours.
So where are those twice daily charges?
You are using two sims, if the signal is not great or will drain battery.
First of all, turning 5G for dual sims drains the battery so fast and secondly, I can see very well from the image you posted that you haven't charged your phone for 19 hours and some and that's great battery life to me. Also, if you happen to be using your screen at 2k or so, you better lower it at 720p or at least 1080p cause remember that galaxy S23 is only 3900 mAh and that's not a very big battery capacity like its bigger brother the S23 Ultra which is 5000 mAh and can pretty well handle intensive work! Hope my answer helped you.

For those who are saying i didn't charge it from 19 hours, please note that standby time was long because i charged it at 12am last night and then binge watched Netflix on TV, slept late and then woke up late too.
So mostly it was standby.
If i am using it regularly, then the SOT is very less.
Please see the SOT in the screenshot.

neither twitter nor instagram... and facebook is the most offending application of the battery in the android world, i agree with you
removed due to lack of accurate and or useful infromation
You have two sim cards active, three and a half hour of screen on time, and 19 hours of screen off time. I think it is great.
Peogle that shows a great screen on time, they do not stop using it. No screen off time.
