Need to return P9 back to L09C432B504 from c900b300 - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone !
I had a battery drain issue so I wanted to try and change the software before resorting to a battery change, but now my phone is stuck at L09 C900B300 build and it used to be factory L09C432B504. I tried downloading the full package for 501 but the phone does not want to install it as it was "invalid".
Any ideas how I can force the b501 update on the phone ? It's hard to use ADB since the USB-C port on the phone is very worn out and it only maintains data-transfer in a certain position, if it gets shifted even a little bit it breaks the connection.
Thanks in advance !

You did a rollback and you cannot instal Nougat directly back
You must install c432b182 Marshmallow and then let it update by OTAs (with SIM card) to b50x
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73131443&postcount=321
Steps 4-9 apply to you (since you are already on c900b300)
---
Don't know what does it mean to you that you changed the software
If you rebranded from c432 to another cust, then you must also rebrand back to c432 by flashing its OEMINFO:

NOTE: Just saw you previously asked questions about P9 Lite
Pls be aware, this is Huawei P9 subforum, not for P9 Lite (different hardware, different firmwares)
The answer above with links/guides applies to P9, not to P9 Lite
If your question was for P9 Lite, please better search and ask on XDA P9 Lite subforum

Hey !
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to follow the steps but I need to have the bootloader unlocked and it is discontinued by huawei, and in order to get the code from DC unlocker I need to invest a certain amount of money (id rather hand the phone over to a professional service and pay them and know that I have a fixed phone).
The other issue of the phone is that I cannot open the manufacturer mode on the phone using *#*#2846579#*#* since it does nothing, and I cannot use the calculator since this software does not have a calculator, it doesn't even have a camera app....
So I have contacted huawei support in hopes of getting the bootloader code but I do not hope for too much at this point. What are my other options at this point of handling this on my own ?
Looking forward to your response !

AFAIK, 'certain amount of money' for Bootloader code from DC Unlocker is only 4 Euros
If you search on XDA (various phones, just about Bootloader unlocking) you may find more online services (several months ago I've seen in some post), but they were more expensive
IMO, you don't need unlocked Bootloader if you are just following the first link, for dload-ing c432b182 without flashing oeminfo....

Update:
Okay the b182 package does not require unlocked bootloader which is great, it took the update and started going up all the way to b395 but it stopped there, no further OTA updates... It is okay to use at this point but I'm still curious to know if there is a way to get to it to update to the b50x version. I did try to use the small update for the b501 but the phone declined it.
Still thank you very much for guiding me through this ! This is a huge weight off my shoulders !

In Firmware Finder they have a new method based on eRecovery and changing the DNS server on your local WLAN AP
b50x must be showing as Approved to you for that method
It does not require Bootloader unlocked but no guarantee it would work (I tried with P9 rebranded to AL10 Oreo, managed to change DNS server address, eRecovery connected to but failed to update firmware that way)
There HWOTA method (in few variants) to install FullOTA-MF from Firmware Finder, but unlocked Bootloader is required
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787156&postcount=3
Btw, if you ever unlocked Bootloader on that phone, just use the same code again (one must save always save the code for future needs)
As of recently there are some Huawei service firmware installations available, that also install by dload (not needed to have Bootloader unlocked)
Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B505 Firmware 7.0.0 r1 EMUI5.0.4 05013PWB [androidhost.ru].zip

Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B504 Firmware Android7.0 EMUI5.0.3 05013PNA androidhost.ru.zip

Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B502 Firmware Android7.0 EMUI5.0.1 05013PWB. androidhost.ru.zip
https://androidhost.ru/3xb
When you download, you will need to unzip
Find Docs and Software subfolders (you may need to untar and unzip Software subfolder again)
In Docs folder there must be Huawei official guide how to install, check if it describes dload method (and what must be un-archived and copied to SD card dload folder from the Software subfloder)
I didn't use it for L09c432 but I successfully unbricked a P9 rebranded to AL10c00 (back to AL10c00 firmware) by such a package, really easy by dload, just by following their HowTo doc from the Docs subfolder

Simple UPDATE of EVA-L19C636B190 to Nougat FAILED

Hello guys,
I have failed. And now I do not know how to continue.
My tragic storry: I wanted to update my HUAWEI P9 from Marshmallow to Nougat and got an error during update, because I am an idiot. I took an (wrong) update from some site, putted it in a dload folder on a sd card and started the update. The update started, the phone rebooted and continued. But at 5% comes "Software update failed! Incompatibulity with current version. Please download the correct update package."
After that I started to search for a solution.
Now I found this site and it seems that here are a lot of people, that are able to solve such problems between wakeup and teeth brushing. I hope someone here can help me with good advices, which avoid me of damaging my phone completely and bring me instead on the way that I can solve my problem.
Enough of the chatter, this is my current knowledge (correct me if I am wrong):
I have (had) a P9 with EVA-L19C636B190 Firmware. (I have noted this before update)
L19 stands for the dual sim P9.
C636 is the Asia/Pacific Hardware
B190 was the old version of stock Android (Marshmallow)
(I know now, that I have tooked the wrong Hardware-Package. I should have taken C636 and
everything would have become beautiful)
As I understand, the wrong Firmware is now on my phone and the bootloader try to continue the update each time I start an Update.
If I start the phone normaly, I get the EMUI logo with the options to "Download latest version and recovery" (No way, with the wifi connection, he can not find a server to download), "Reboot" and "Shutdown".
I suppose, that there is a partition on my phone, where the wrong update file was loaded to. Because if I try to "update" back to EVA-L19C636B190, there is no difference, the update ends at 5%, even without a sd card. So I think, that I need to clear this partition and need to start an update with the dload-folder-method again.
As I understand some artikles here, I need for that a special tool (SRK), with which I can clear the partition in the FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE. But for that the phone must be unlocked.
In next step I need to unlock the boatloader with the huawei online tool where i get the unlock code based on my serial number and so on.
What would you say to my plan? Or is there an easier method?
What do I need for that?
Please be indulgent with me, I try to learn and to undestand to solve my problem
Thank you in advance.

P9 Firmware update issue

Hello all, new here.
I've been looking all over in the past couple of days but unfortunately couldn't find answers so decided to post a thread and try my luck.
Recently I've had an issue with my P9 - to make a long story short, after a factory reset the phone booted with many central functions missing (camera, keyboard, etc...). Anyway, I sent my phone to a nearby mobile repair shop where they burned a new version - EVA-L09C900B167.
It runs Android 6.0 and EMUI 4.1.1, and I remember having Android 7 and EMUI 5.0 before all the problems began.
After consulting with the official Huawei vendor in my country, they said that this software is not supported in my country and therefore will not be receiving updates - and that my warranty is void for installing an "unofficial" version.
Anyway - in my search for the ability to update my device I came across a whole lot of information, but haven't really been able to understand everything thoroughly.
I have unlocked bootloader and rooted the device, I have TWRP installed.
Tried using a firmware version from Firmware Finder, without success.
Can anyone please explain to me ("Like I'm a four year old" ) how I can update my device?
Again, if a guide exists and I've missed it, my apologies and feel free to delete this thread.
Thanks !

Hey thanks a lot!
Will try it later today.
I'm guessing it won't be possible to just follow this guide as it is, even though I'm on 167?

Rebranding P10 with EMUI 8?

So, to get EMUI 8 I had to rebrand my device to L29C636, and it worked fine until B361 , the last two updates (364 and 365) it refuses to update, if I search with FF it tells me the firmware is not valid for C636, but if I try and check the same firmware with C432 (I believe it was 432, my memory is not great as it used to be) it says everything is cool and I can install it, but for that I need my device to be rebranded again.
I was searching for few hours today, and couldn't find anything useful the last version of HWOTA is a year old and does not support EMUI 8, I did managed to get up to date twrp but HWOTA I have doesn't detects its booted to twrp. Multi-Tool 8 does not support P10 L29.
Security is a great deal for me and a lot of the recent fixes apply for me and it's really getting frustrating that every single important update I need to break my head to install it.
Does anyone have up to date guide for this device? I think my next step will be to check how it handle a meeting with the wall at high velocity...really getting annoyed with this Android sh*t.

Maybe you should roll back to Nougat, rebrand and then update to Oreo...

the method posted doesn't work, it can't flash twrp and the process ends there.

Updating to Oreo not working

Hi everyone
So , I know there is a lot of threads about that question but I can't find the right thing to do. I bought a not much used P10 few months ago and I know nearly nothing about it apart from the fact that it has been rebranded I think . I have no experience in manual updates and apart from the B171 it downloaded first time I got it , I didn't receive any OTA update. I tried Frimware finder both DNS and proxy and none of them worked . Now iam trying to download the whole B365 and then using proxy method , I read that on AndroidPit . any suggestions ?
Ps: for some reason my IMEI is a series of 00000000 while the "MEID" is normal
What model do you have and which version is installed?
The IMEI is a hardware specific number. If Android shows only zeros either your hardware is faulty or EMUI isn't installed correctly.
So, before you try to update do a complete factory reset within Huawei eRecovery. For this, restart your phone while it's connected to USB and holding Vol+. Then tap on factory reset - Note that all your data on internal memory will be removed.
After this factory reset look again at the IMEI.
Are you able to contact the seller for rebranding information (which model is this phone originally?)?.
Thanks for the reply , Android shows me L29 model but on the back of the phone it is written L09, I have no contact with the seller but i do think it was to enable the dual SIM function since it is unavailable on L09 the software version is VTR-L29C432B171 and is there a way to save the data before the recovery ?
Oh and , if a do a complete factory reset , will this remove the rebranding ?

No, and the branding shouldn't be the issue if it's just a rebrand from L09C432 to L29C432, I did the same without any problems.
You can backup your data with HiSuite App for PC or with a SD card and the backup App on the phone.
But you have to backup your camera folder (DCIM) manually, HiSuite won't backup Photos, also no Pictures, Videos or other Media. It works good for contacts, SMS, Phone settings and Apps including settings.
Is your phones bootloader unlocked?
The missing IMEI CNA be the reason why you won't get any official updates and FF doesn't work.
If you are unlocked you can use my guide (Tutorial #1) to update your phone manually.
If your bootloader is locked and you don't have the unlock code it's not possible to unlock it without the pay-tool DC Phoenix. Huawei stopped providing bootloader codes one month ago.
If you have the code and you want to unlock notice, that an unlock will cause a factory reset!
According to Huawei, bootloader unlock codes would be provided until 60 days after 24 May. So if you apply for it today, you may be lucky. More info: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/05/24/huawei-halts-bootloader-unlock-program-indefinitely/

[TUTORIAL] Downgrading to EMUI 8 using HiSuite

When I was trying to downgrade the old phone of my GF (single SIM, FIG-LX1 or P SMART 1st gen) all of the tutorials didnt work for me at all.
The one with Huawei Firmware Finder via Google Play was tedious altough i know how to change DNS, use eRecovery and all that jazz didnt work at all and the phone would throw me fit after fit.
Then I was reading too use older versions of HiSute and again change DNS and i gave up cause all ended up not working and thats how I figured out a way myself.
I will not be responsible if you lose any of your data doing this since it will wipe the phone completly
You will need:
- The phone ofc - make sure its charged all the way
- USB cable
- SD Card minimum 8GB
- Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW - search androidhost.ru
- HiSuite
Steps:
1. Download the mentioned firmware from androidhost.ru
2. Extrach the dload folder from the zip to your desktop
3. Place the dload folder in the root directory of your SD Card (use a formatted one min. 8GB capacity)
4. Power down the phone, install SD Card and hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone to engage Force Update
5. Let the update finish its job and the phone will reboot too setup screen so just quickly set it up to reach the homescreen.
6. Connect the phone via usb and choose file transfer (for me it only worked that way)
7. Under my computer right click on HiSuite open and click HiSuiteDownloader
8. Finish installing HiSuite and follow on-screen instructions so the phone will be detected and connected to HiSuite.
9. Click Update and now bottom right of the window it should ask you for older version so click on it and it will present you with going back to EMUI 8.
(Explanation: I figured out if you run the latest version of EMUI 9 HiSuite will not present you a older version button thus you cant follow the process in my tutorial so thats why you downloaded the very first EMUI 9 build where it lets you do it)
10. Let HiSuite do its thing like downloading, installing and so on and do not unplug the phone until you come back to the setup screen which will be the EMUI 8 style one.
11. Good job :good: you finally downgraded to android 8.0 and now can unlock the bootloader if you choose so (unlocking costs money - search another thread for that i only focused on downgrading the phone so you can do it if you wish)
Well I hope this tutorial will help you as it helped me!
Feel free to like/thanks this thread and share if it worked or not
Hello! I have the FIG-LX1 vodafone Spain (only I can use one sim card). With Emui 9.1 and dicember 2019 Android patch security. Could I follow the process? Thanks!
I tried this and it worked, thank you! I was getting really mad at the slowiness of this phone in EMUI 9, it was getting worse in every update.
I also want to point one thing. You mentioned a firmware download on android-host.ru of " Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW". While this may be right for your phone model, it may not work on every model. As I see from your post, you have the C432 model. People should look for the firmware for their model or else it may not work (in my case it was C02 and I also found it on android-host.ru).
Other thing I would like to point out is a question. I am not experienced in smartphone modding but as you downloaded the 9.0 firmware in order to downgrade from HiSuite, couldn't you just have donwloaded the 8.0 firmware and install it up front instead of having to pass in HiSuite? (I have not tried this, I have sticked to the instructions provided here. As I said, I do not know much of this).
Nonetheless, thank you again for making my phone usable!

I think that this is the first 9.1 version with C02 (15-june-2019)

Starting from 9.1.0.176 (C02E11R1P5) I've downgraded to 9.1.0.115(C02) through sdCard.
Then through HiSuite downgraded to 8.0.0.144(C02).
Next step ---> unlook bootloader!

I've tried with 8.0.0.134(C02) through SdCard but the process fails on start.
I don't know if repeating the procedure without HiSuite(putting in SdCard 8.0.0.134(C02)) would have worked equally well.
Got it Working perfectly from 9.1.0.203(C432E11R1...) to 8.0.0.176(C432).
1 Step Closer to Bootloader Unlock
Im sorry to say but this guide does not work.
At least, not for my region which is c782 (UK). I did try with the rom you mentioned anyway, just in case the region would not matter but obviously it does.
There doesnt appear to be a 9.0.x version available for my region on android host so I guess I am totally stuck.
I've tried every downgrade tutorial in existance and none work. every dload method seems to fall over. Tried both androidhost.ru and firmware finder roms and just get nowhere. I give up!
Thank you. I was able to downgrade a FIG-LX1 that was not running latest EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 8.0, and then used another tutorial to flash and older version of EMUI and unlock its bootloader.
Anyone having the 9.1.0 C40 or C900 version by any chance?
