[TUTORIAL] Downgrading to EMUI 8 using HiSuite - Huawei P Smart Guides, News, & Discussion

When I was trying to downgrade the old phone of my GF (single SIM, FIG-LX1 or P SMART 1st gen) all of the tutorials didnt work for me at all.
The one with Huawei Firmware Finder via Google Play was tedious altough i know how to change DNS, use eRecovery and all that jazz didnt work at all and the phone would throw me fit after fit.
Then I was reading too use older versions of HiSute and again change DNS and i gave up cause all ended up not working and thats how I figured out a way myself.
I will not be responsible if you lose any of your data doing this since it will wipe the phone completly
You will need:
- The phone ofc - make sure its charged all the way
- USB cable
- SD Card minimum 8GB
- Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW - search androidhost.ru
- HiSuite
Steps:
1. Download the mentioned firmware from androidhost.ru
2. Extrach the dload folder from the zip to your desktop
3. Place the dload folder in the root directory of your SD Card (use a formatted one min. 8GB capacity)
4. Power down the phone, install SD Card and hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone to engage Force Update
5. Let the update finish its job and the phone will reboot too setup screen so just quickly set it up to reach the homescreen.
6. Connect the phone via usb and choose file transfer (for me it only worked that way)
7. Under my computer right click on HiSuite open and click HiSuiteDownloader
8. Finish installing HiSuite and follow on-screen instructions so the phone will be detected and connected to HiSuite.
9. Click Update and now bottom right of the window it should ask you for older version so click on it and it will present you with going back to EMUI 8.
(Explanation: I figured out if you run the latest version of EMUI 9 HiSuite will not present you a older version button thus you cant follow the process in my tutorial so thats why you downloaded the very first EMUI 9 build where it lets you do it)
10. Let HiSuite do its thing like downloading, installing and so on and do not unplug the phone until you come back to the setup screen which will be the EMUI 8 style one.
11. Good job :good: you finally downgraded to android 8.0 and now can unlock the bootloader if you choose so (unlocking costs money - search another thread for that i only focused on downgrading the phone so you can do it if you wish)
Well I hope this tutorial will help you as it helped me!
Feel free to like/thanks this thread and share if it worked or not

Hello! I have the FIG-LX1 vodafone Spain (only I can use one sim card). With Emui 9.1 and dicember 2019 Android patch security. Could I follow the process? Thanks!

I tried this and it worked, thank you! I was getting really mad at the slowiness of this phone in EMUI 9, it was getting worse in every update.
I also want to point one thing. You mentioned a firmware download on android-host.ru of " Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 FIG-L11 FIG-L31 hw eu HLRCF Figo-L11 Figo-L31 9.1.0.115(C432E5R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.0.1 05014XFJ 05014XMW". While this may be right for your phone model, it may not work on every model. As I see from your post, you have the C432 model. People should look for the firmware for their model or else it may not work (in my case it was C02 and I also found it on android-host.ru).
Other thing I would like to point out is a question. I am not experienced in smartphone modding but as you downloaded the 9.0 firmware in order to downgrade from HiSuite, couldn't you just have donwloaded the 8.0 firmware and install it up front instead of having to pass in HiSuite? (I have not tried this, I have sticked to the instructions provided here. As I said, I do not know much of this).
Nonetheless, thank you again for making my phone usable!

@TOY_O_MACHO Where have you found the C02 firmware? I try to find it with EMUI 9 version and i cant find anything. I only see this one:

I think that this is the first 9.1 version with C02 (15-june-2019)
Huawei P Smart FIG-LX1 Fig-L11 vodafone default HLRCF Figo-L11 9.1.0.115(C02E6R1P3T8) Firmware 9.0.0 r3 EMUI9.1.0 05014XVU [androidhost.ru].zip

Starting from 9.1.0.176 (C02E11R1P5) I've downgraded to 9.1.0.115(C02) through sdCard.
Then through HiSuite downgraded to 8.0.0.144(C02).
Next step ---> unlook bootloader!

I've tried with 8.0.0.134(C02) through SdCard but the process fails on start.
I don't know if repeating the procedure without HiSuite(putting in SdCard 8.0.0.134(C02)) would have worked equally well.

Got it Working perfectly from 9.1.0.203(C432E11R1...) to 8.0.0.176(C432).
1 Step Closer to Bootloader Unlock

Im sorry to say but this guide does not work.
At least, not for my region which is c782 (UK). I did try with the rom you mentioned anyway, just in case the region would not matter but obviously it does.
There doesnt appear to be a 9.0.x version available for my region on android host so I guess I am totally stuck.
I've tried every downgrade tutorial in existance and none work. every dload method seems to fall over. Tried both androidhost.ru and firmware finder roms and just get nowhere. I give up!

Thank you. I was able to downgrade a FIG-LX1 that was not running latest EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 8.0, and then used another tutorial to flash and older version of EMUI and unlock its bootloader.

Anyone having the 9.1.0 C40 or C900 version by any chance?

Update from L19C636B320 to NDR90M test-key

Hi everybody, I'm new comer and using Huawei P9. Version L19C636B320
I tried many times update to B361 version by Huawei updater and Hisuite but unfortunately It didn't work. Follow some guideline I have just download update of L19C432B360 and copy to "dload" folder in my device, using power key and 02 volume button, it has been work and now my device version is: NDR90M test-key.
After that, I have use "update.app" file of some version (L19C636B361, L19C636B190) for change version again but it's not working and when use hisuite said that:
you are using the lastest official version.
Current version: NDR90M test-keys(Official)
Note: I cannot find the "check for update" function in Setting menu too.
Please help to explain what is status of my device?
Should I worrier about the next update? My device can be normally receive OTA update or not? What should I will do now?
Many thank for help!
(Sorry if any mistake on my English)
The same here.
I have a P9 Lite Gold L31 brand Vodafone ITA with no mods from the box, and I tried to update via Proxy following instructions of a non-specialized website.
I choosed FULL OTA 1,29 GB ca. and now I have NDR90M test-keys - Android 7.0
The phone seems to work but reading online it semms that this is not a regular package and I will not receive updates.
I became to shake myself with no ability to do anything.
Please tell me what to do to go back to previous situation (smartphone as out-of-box branded Vodafone with marshmallow and correct serial number) or at least to go to a situation where I'll can update via official channel.
Thank you so much, I can also pay you via PayPal.

Rebranding P10 with EMUI 8?

So, to get EMUI 8 I had to rebrand my device to L29C636, and it worked fine until B361 , the last two updates (364 and 365) it refuses to update, if I search with FF it tells me the firmware is not valid for C636, but if I try and check the same firmware with C432 (I believe it was 432, my memory is not great as it used to be) it says everything is cool and I can install it, but for that I need my device to be rebranded again.
I was searching for few hours today, and couldn't find anything useful the last version of HWOTA is a year old and does not support EMUI 8, I did managed to get up to date twrp but HWOTA I have doesn't detects its booted to twrp. Multi-Tool 8 does not support P10 L29.
Security is a great deal for me and a lot of the recent fixes apply for me and it's really getting frustrating that every single important update I need to break my head to install it.
Does anyone have up to date guide for this device? I think my next step will be to check how it handle a meeting with the wall at high velocity...really getting annoyed with this Android sh*t.

Maybe you should roll back to Nougat, rebrand and then update to Oreo...

the method posted doesn't work, it can't flash twrp and the process ends there.

Nor receiving updates anymore

I have been using firmware finder to update my PRA-LX1. Now as I can see I don't receive any official updares. I'm stuck at security patch June. Even though July update is available when I check for updates in System Update it sais 'No updates'.
Any solutions?

I guess you are on Oreo.
Go to the firmware finder and find the list of firmwares and which correspond to the July security update, and check if it is approved for installation,if it is then go ahead and press update through VPN and follow the instructions.
Choose OTA not FullOTA if you are on Oreo, since it also took me a while to get the update.

so you're saying that firmware finder works on oreo if I choose the OTA firmware?
the problem is that firmware finder doent seem to work on oreo. Even though the update is approved, with vpn started the System Update app says 'No updates'.

I have tried different types of the Dload method but no one ses to work. I tried something from the WAS-LX1 SD CARD UPDATE GUIDELINE but using an update for this phone. Well, even if that update is available for update, with the dload method it says that 'The update package is not compatible with the current version. Please download the right package and try again." And I have tried that with about 10 other updates witch were available in firmware finder.. but I got the same results.
It seems that no method of updating is working for me right now... Or maybe I am doing the dload method wrongly.
I can't find specific stept for the dload method on the forums. On some of them is even said that dload method doesn't work on this phone all together.

Hmm,well as a last resort try to use dload with a service firmware.
I am sending you links for PRA-L31,the one I have, and you can check if you have that one by going into the engineering menu, and you do that by going into the dialer and typing this: *#*#2846579#*#*,and then going to Veneer Informations and Version Info.
http://androidhost.ru/6uc - this is for the July security patch firmware (aka the newest one),but it will take 8 hours to download,at least it took that time for me
https://mega.nz/#F!nwhAWDjC!cNovAN6dKLlO_YZ9fjMbzQ - this is for the firmware you are probably running right now
All of these links are from 4PDA forums.
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=809771&view=findpost&p=65929494 - here you can find instructions on how to do it,if you don't understand them basically you need to firstly apply the UPDATE.APP from the first update_sd.zip you find in the dload folder, and then do the vendor UPDATE.APP which you can find in the PRA-L31 folder.
I am sorry if you cannot completely understand what am I saying,I am typing this in a bit of a rush so...

THANK YOU SO MUCH! This actually helped me restore my phone to normal. I installed the B363 version from the MEGA link ( I had B360 installed. my mistake was that I initially installed the wrong version with firmware finder, B360 instead of B363). But once I installed the B360 I got a notification to update to B369.
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for this simple and useful guide. :good:
I was able to successfully update back to stock using Normal upgrade *#*#2846579#*#* dload method (not force with 3 buttons) and service firmware 8.0.0.363(C432). After that, got OTA for 8.0.0.369.. Everything went fine, except device name changed automatically to P9 lite 2017
Is this okay?? The same happens with service firmware you mentioned 8.0.0.369(C432)...
Beside that, Power+Vol+ gives me no more eRecovery, just EMUI with options to wipe data or reboot..
My device: P8 lite 2017 PRA-LX1 (PRA-L31)

Yeah that is good, since this is a firmware which was released around Croatia,Albania,Czech Republic and etc,but there it is called P9 Lite 2017 instead of P8 Lite 2017 so it is no problem.
And I believe you enter eRecovery by holding Volume Up while plugging in your phone to a charger or USB port on a computer,at least that is how I did it before on Nougat, haven't touched any recoveries I fixed my phone with DC Phoenix.

Need to return P9 back to L09C432B504 from c900b300

Hello everyone !
I had a battery drain issue so I wanted to try and change the software before resorting to a battery change, but now my phone is stuck at L09 C900B300 build and it used to be factory L09C432B504. I tried downloading the full package for 501 but the phone does not want to install it as it was "invalid".
Any ideas how I can force the b501 update on the phone ? It's hard to use ADB since the USB-C port on the phone is very worn out and it only maintains data-transfer in a certain position, if it gets shifted even a little bit it breaks the connection.
Thanks in advance !

You did a rollback and you cannot instal Nougat directly back
You must install c432b182 Marshmallow and then let it update by OTAs (with SIM card) to b50x
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73131443&postcount=321
Steps 4-9 apply to you (since you are already on c900b300)
---
Don't know what does it mean to you that you changed the software
If you rebranded from c432 to another cust, then you must also rebrand back to c432 by flashing its OEMINFO:

NOTE: Just saw you previously asked questions about P9 Lite
Pls be aware, this is Huawei P9 subforum, not for P9 Lite (different hardware, different firmwares)
The answer above with links/guides applies to P9, not to P9 Lite
If your question was for P9 Lite, please better search and ask on XDA P9 Lite subforum
Hey !
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to follow the steps but I need to have the bootloader unlocked and it is discontinued by huawei, and in order to get the code from DC unlocker I need to invest a certain amount of money (id rather hand the phone over to a professional service and pay them and know that I have a fixed phone).
The other issue of the phone is that I cannot open the manufacturer mode on the phone using *#*#2846579#*#* since it does nothing, and I cannot use the calculator since this software does not have a calculator, it doesn't even have a camera app....
So I have contacted huawei support in hopes of getting the bootloader code but I do not hope for too much at this point. What are my other options at this point of handling this on my own ?
Looking forward to your response !

AFAIK, 'certain amount of money' for Bootloader code from DC Unlocker is only 4 Euros
If you search on XDA (various phones, just about Bootloader unlocking) you may find more online services (several months ago I've seen in some post), but they were more expensive
IMO, you don't need unlocked Bootloader if you are just following the first link, for dload-ing c432b182 without flashing oeminfo....
Update:
Okay the b182 package does not require unlocked bootloader which is great, it took the update and started going up all the way to b395 but it stopped there, no further OTA updates... It is okay to use at this point but I'm still curious to know if there is a way to get to it to update to the b50x version. I did try to use the small update for the b501 but the phone declined it.
Still thank you very much for guiding me through this ! This is a huge weight off my shoulders !

In Firmware Finder they have a new method based on eRecovery and changing the DNS server on your local WLAN AP
b50x must be showing as Approved to you for that method
It does not require Bootloader unlocked but no guarantee it would work (I tried with P9 rebranded to AL10 Oreo, managed to change DNS server address, eRecovery connected to but failed to update firmware that way)
There HWOTA method (in few variants) to install FullOTA-MF from Firmware Finder, but unlocked Bootloader is required
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787156&postcount=3
Btw, if you ever unlocked Bootloader on that phone, just use the same code again (one must save always save the code for future needs)
As of recently there are some Huawei service firmware installations available, that also install by dload (not needed to have Bootloader unlocked)

When you download, you will need to unzip
Find Docs and Software subfolders (you may need to untar and unzip Software subfolder again)
In Docs folder there must be Huawei official guide how to install, check if it describes dload method (and what must be un-archived and copied to SD card dload folder from the Software subfloder)
I didn't use it for L09c432 but I successfully unbricked a P9 rebranded to AL10c00 (back to AL10c00 firmware) by such a package, really easy by dload, just by following their HowTo doc from the Docs subfolder

[How To manually update firmware] Huawei P9 EVA-L09 still on B182 Europe

Hello,
I own a Huawei P9 (european EVA-L09), from 2016.
The device is still running the old B182 firmware, with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and EMUI 4.1.1
I'm kinda late, but I'd like to update the firmware now
Problem is: no Huawei method appears to work anymore.
OTA is dead and HiSuite says I'm at the latest official firmware. Yeah, right...
I know that after B182 Europe (EVA-L09C432B182), 4 firmware updates were issued over the years.
As far as I know, they are:
- B387 Europe (Android 7.0 Nougat) June 2016
- B398 Europe (Android 7.0 Nougat) February 2017
- B502 Europe (Android 7.0 Nougat) April 2018
and lastly:
- B506 Europe (Android 7.0 Nougat) April 2020
Honestly I don't care much about B506, AFAIK its sole improvement has been the addition of the Huawei AppGallery. Other than that it's the same EMUI and Android as B502.
I'd like to upgrade to B502, instead
That should breathe some life in a device that's starting to be incompatible with a number of apps from the Google Play Store.
I'll need some education for the update process...
1) Can I do it manually if I download the files for the B502 update?
2) To properly update to B502, will I have to update through the earlier builds B398 and B387 (I can't find B387, sadly)?
3) Do I need root priviledges to make the manual update of the firmware?
4) How do I even make the firmware update happen?
Kindly, would you help me understand these things so I don't make a disaster of my device?

Hello,
I own a Huawei P9 (european EVA-L09), from 2016.

Files you find on FirmwareFinder or pro-teammt.ru will not work for dload
Go to
Search - AndroidHost.RU
Check multiple download links at the same time.
androidhost.ru
and search for EVA-L09c432
(If I recall correctly, it was long ago I used, download will be faster if you register for free)
Files you find there are suitable for dload if they are the so-called Service Repair firmwares. You need to download extract (sometimes it's zip and/or arj), look if it contains the official Huawei instructions for installation (dload) - if so, that will be the Service Repair.
Usually the documentation includes a matrix from which version it can be updated - hence you will see can you directly update by dload to e.g. b505 or you will need to go first to b210
Carefully read the documentation when you download and extract
Good luck
Hi,
first off: thanks for the assistance
I went to androidhost.ru as instructed and searched for EVA-L09C432
There I found 5 upgrades, the most recent 2 of which appear to be similar (going by their name), but I made no binary comparison to see if they're identical.
Among the 5 packages I see:
Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B502 Firmware Android7.0 EMUI5.0.1 05013PWB. androidhost.ru.zip
Inside I find several documents, one of which is named:
HUAWEI EVA-L09C432B502 Software Upgrade Guideline.docx
And inside the document I find the update-matrix you spoke of:
Code:
1 Version introduction
1.1 The following versions can be upgraded.
Versions can be upgraded
EVA-L09C432B501
EVA-L09C432B399
EVA-L09C432B398
EVA-L09C432B397
EVA-L09C432B395
EVA-L09C432B394
EVA-L09C432B393
EVA-L09C432B391
EVA-L09C432B390
EVA-L09C432B386
Sadly, my current B182 (EVA-L09C432B182) isn't listed.
I assume it means that I can't use this package to jump from B182 to B502.
Looking for suitable intermediate versions, on another website I found the files for EVA-L09C432B398
However, the package there is quite different.
First, it comes with no documentation. I suppose it means that it's not a "service" firmware?
And second, it contains 3 zipped files:
- update.zip
- update_full_EVA-L09_hw_eu.zip
- update_data_full_public.zip
I'm paused.
Those "service" upgrades from androidhost.ru contain 3 files as well, but their differ:
- update.app
- update_EVA-L09_hw_eu.app
- update_EVA-L19_hw_eu.app
If I understand correctly the L19 won't apply to my device, so it's actually down to 2 files.
And the update_data_full_public.* file is missing entirely (what's inside it?)
Can you please help with my confusion?
I know I ask a lot of questions... I'm sorry.
I just don't know what to do

The firmwares that used to be on Firmware Finder were suitable for dload ONLY if they were named FullOTA-MF-PV.
But Huawei stopped releasing them and those without all these flags in the name will not work for dload.
By the structure/content, those zip files do not differ (some may have update* apk and some zip files inside), hence I cannot judge would that one you found somwhere work for dload or not
But on the site I gave you, there is also b210 (the last Android 6). Try with that and then maybe you could upgrade with SIM, by HiSuite or from eRecovery
Also, on the site I gave you search for EVA-L19c432 - I see few b39x firmwares
When you download and extract, maybe you will see that it contains also installation for L09, not only for L19 (sometimes they do).
In that case L09 will be also mentioned in the accompanying instructions doc
The EVA-L19 idea was good thinking.
Indeed I found the corresponding L09 package. However, the update matrix there too won't mention B210.
These are Nougat-to-Nougat firmwares and the Marshmallow-to-Nougat jump isn't covered, apparently.
Slightly changing subject, I found this website:
Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) official firmware
Huawei P9 EVA-L09 official firmware (rom - Flash File) all build with direct link for free
huawei-firmware.com
Is it official???
It lists both OTA and FullOTA versions of lotta firmwares.
There's a notable size difference between the two:
- OTA is usually 500 MB or less
- FullOTA is usually 1.3 GB or more
I also notice some "Type" mismatch in the list...
For example, search for the text B210 and you'll find 2 entries:
Code:
- Huawei P9 EVA-L09 OTA-MF 2017-04-25 B210 399.93MB
- Huawei P9 EVA-L09 OTA-MF 2017-04-25 B210 1.53GB
The 2nd entry worth 1.53GB should be a FullOTA-MF, not an OTA-MF.
There are many such errors.
The download speed is terrible , but I want to see if the FullOTA packages I find here are binary-identical to the ones I found on yet another website (which doesn't specify whether the listed firmwares are FullOTA or not).
If they are 1:1 copies, then I've presumably found a FullOTA B502 firmware I can use
Man, the download is taking forever...

Go to the firmwares for your EVA-L09C432, those named as FullOTA-MF-PV are for dload.
See on the screenshot several B360 firmwares, FullOTA-MF and FullOTA-MF-PV are both 2.5 GB but only PV is ok for manual dload
You can try: B520 from the androidhost.ru site I gave you earlier, than B360 PV from FF app, than B378 from FF again and B505 from the site.
Or so, cannot guarantee you for the steps, e.g. are b210 and/or b360 needed or you could directly jump to b378 (probably)
Also, again, have a correct SIM in the phone and check if you can follow the regular OTA once you e.g. manually come to b378 or so
Also check eRecoveey, its Install latest firmware option (upon the manual dload steps to shorten your path):
- connect to USB charger
- press and keep pressing Vol+
- boot with Pow (while keeping Vol+ pressed)
Dear zgfg
your help so far has been very appreciated. Might I ask you for some more advice?
================================================================================
I tried the Firmware Finder App, but I couldn't download any of the listed firmwares
As you said: they appear to have been removed.
================================================================================
So I looked back at this website:
Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) official firmware
Huawei P9 EVA-L09 official firmware (rom - Flash File) all build with direct link for free

Turns out that there are several FullOTA-MF-PV firmwares listed; the text (the -PV part) is barely visible, but a search will reveal it.
Correct me if I'm wrong: VP stands for Version Point and is used to jump from one Major version of Android to another. Like: from Android 6.0 to Android 7.0
Am I correct?
So I found this firmware listed:
Huawei P9EVA-L09FullOTA-MF-PV2017-05-03B3861.32GB(468)
Version B386 is the last entry in the Update Matrix from the B502 firmware I found on androidhost.ru

EVA-L09C432B393
EVA-L09C432B391
EVA-L09C432B390
EVA-L09C432B386
Now... can you tell me if this chains of upgrades would be a safe thing to do...?
1) upgrade from:
- EVA-L09C432B186 (Marshmallow) [currently in use on my device]
to:
- FullOTA-MF-VP EVA-L09C432B386 (Nougat) [found on huawei-firmware.com]

to:

================================================================================
I have another question.

Download the full B502 firmware update for Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) devices in Europe via the direct link provided below. This update is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with EMUI 5.0 layer on top.
huaweidl.com
... I find another B502 firmware.
I don't know if it's FullOTA-MF-VP or just FullOTA-MF
However, I notice that there are 3 (three) downloadable files...
- where it says Download: update.zip
- where it says Cust File: update_full_EVA-L09_hw_eu.zip
- where it says Public Data File: update_data_full_public.zip
What are the Cust File and Public Data File ??

It seems something is wrong with Firmware Finder.
You may check/ask in the XDA thread for Firmware Finder
PV=Point Version - maybe, I don't recall
Upgrade path - seems reasonable. I would try (it's been few years ago when I played on my former P9 with Nougat firmwares, going back to MM, changing custs, etc).
If I recall correctly, if it doesn't like, it would tell you that it cannot do the dload.
But I suggested you to try also OTA and eRecovery - I used to have situations that OTA was not coming but after one dload update then started to come for subsequent updates, etc
Use 502 from ru, the other one is probably not service repair (and most likely not PV since Huawei stopped releasing PVs back in 2018 or so - just check what is the latest PV you can find), specially if it doesn't contain the accompanying Huawei official docs
There are usually those three files (for Nougat):
update.zip for all custs (can be even common for L09 and L19),
cust for your c432 (Europe) c=cust,
data updates the Data (first two update System, Vendor, etc)
Hi,
this reply is late because I wanted to find info on my own, but... my Gugl-Fu is lame

If we assume that I can successfully move from Marshmallow to Nougat with the EVA-L09C432B386 -PV firmware... then I shouldn't need another -PV firmware to make the upgrade to B502.
That's because I'd be on Nougat already and the B386 firmware is one of the few that the B502 can upgrade from.
Therefore I should be able to use the B502 from huaweidl.com, even if it's no -PV...
Am I right?

Would you elaborate on the subject, please?
As I understand, the 3 files are to update the "System", the "Vendor", and the "Data" parts of the software.
"System" is the very Android O.S.
"Vendor"... I don't know what it is.
as for the "Data"... does it relate to the protected/preinstalled Apps, games and bloatware in general?
Just what is found inside the Vendor and Data updates?
Also, since all 3 files relate to the same firmware update, does it mean that I should use all 3?
And if yes, then how does one apply the 3 update-files to his own smartphone?
I hope you don't get tired I know I ask a lot of questions.

For proper update you have to update all three.
As I told you, I don't believe that b502 that is not PV nor Service Repair can be dload-ed, and I suggested you to use the official Service Repair and to strictly follow the Instructions coming with
So, sorry, if you don't want ro and you want to use another package and you want to update only partially, no problem, but exprriment on your own
I described you earlier shortly what each of the three parts are for. And again, yes, common system things that belong to all custs (maybe even common to L09, L19 and L29) go to update.zip (or apk).
Those that are specific to the particular cust (it can be a region or even a mayor operator) update with the second one. And I suggest that you also properly update the Data part with the third as well.
So, common parts of the system things go to System, and additional parts go to Vendor.
If you want to experiment, then np, update only System to Nougat and stay with Vendor on MM and then check would it boot, would ir be able to connect to the Mobile Operator, etc.
Similarly if you upgrade System to b502 but stay with Vendor on b386.
That's really all from me
PS: If you are interested what is inside, unzip e.g. update.zip and then use Huawei Update Extractor (google for, there is also the XDA thread)
Hi,
actually I think I'll do what you suggested, and use the B502 from ru.
The other B502 (huaweidl.com) is tempting, but if something goes wrong I ruin this phone.
I want to play safe, or as safe as it can get.

And I learned another lesson from this experience: never ignore OTA updates when they're offered. In the long run, you only end up shortening the useful life of the phone by tieing it to ancient software. I'm already being bitten by this, with apps that I need but can't use.
I'm buying a new smartphone in days, now. After that I'll risk the updates on the Huawei P9.

Ok, good luck and report
If you want to update even further, you can rebrand from L09c432 Nougat to AL10c00 Oreo - but the prerequisite is unlocking the Bootloader (which is not that complicated or expensive for P9, just about 4-5 Eu, installing a program that will read the code that you can later use for your phone for unlimited unlocking/relocking purposes):
Unlock modems, routers and phones with DC-unlocker software
DC-unlocker is universal, fast and easy to use unlocking tool. Supports Huawei, ZTE, Sierra Wireless and other modems, routers and phones.

For AL10c00b540 Oreo look at ROMs section, HWOTA7 thread, get info from the OP posts

But on the site I gave you, there is also b210 (the last Android 6). Try with that and then maybe you could upgrade with SIM, by HiSuite or from eRecovery

Hello,
I have been following your latest guides and post to update old P9 EVA-L19 from C432B182 onwards in 2021. I can confirm that suggested B210 update was a real life saver. After using HCU Client paid service to change firmware region of an AL10C00 variant to EVAL19C432 (hw,eu) I started getting OTAs. Now from B210 I was offered an OTA for EVA-L19C432B386.
PS: I was worried about that B210 updates from the androidhost.ru being of EVA-L09 but it worked fine for L19 variant once you do the 3 buttons combo.
Regards,
Max.

So OTA still works?

Dear zgfg
your help so far has been very appreciated. Might I ask you for some more advice?
================================================================================
I tried the Firmware Finder App, but I couldn't download any of the listed firmwares
As you said: they appear to have been removed.
================================================================================
So I looked back at this website:
Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) official firmware
Huawei P9 EVA-L09 official firmware (rom - Flash File) all build with direct link for free
huawei-firmware.com
Here is that matrix again:
Code:
1 Version introduction
1.1 The following versions can be upgraded.
Versions can be upgraded
EVA-L09C432B501
EVA-L09C432B399
EVA-L09C432B398
EVA-L09C432B397
EVA-L09C432B395
EVA-L09C432B394
EVA-L09C432B393
EVA-L09C432B391
EVA-L09C432B390
EVA-L09C432B386
Now... can you tell me if this chains of upgrades would be a safe thing to do...?
1) upgrade from:
- EVA-L09C432B186 (Marshmallow) [currently in use on my device]
to:
- FullOTA-MF-VP EVA-L09C432B386 (Nougat) [found on huawei-firmware.com]
And then...
2) upgrade from:
- EVA-L09C432B386 (Nougat) [from huawei-firmware.com]
to:
- FullOTA-MF EVA-L09C432B502 (Nougat) [from androidhost.ru]
================================================================================
I have another question.
On this website...
Download: B502 Nougat - Huawei P9 - EVA-L09 [Europe] - Carbon Tesla Downloads
Thank you again for all your help. You're so very kind!

Did you manage to find a firmware PV to jump from Marshmellow to Nougat?

Hello,
Yes it does. As long as you change region to your variant into the EU model. I received at least 3 updates after moving to the early B210 MM initial software build. Wish they released Nougat for the EU single/dual sim someday too. Currently running EVA-L19C432B399 via OTA only updates.

Weird because I have a EVA-L09C432 single SIM and I don't receive updates via OTA.
It's already on the latest version it says. Maybe because I downgraded from Nougat to Marshmellow via the rollback firmware. But afterwards I flashed the OEMINFO and locked the bootloader and uninstalled root.
