Are you rooted using magisk??? Then follow this steps:

Otherwise you will need to restore any backup of the system you should have done before any procedure...
Well that went bad, when I went to uninstall magisk, and restore images it said there were none, so I did full uninstall, now the phone is boot looping to a robot with no command below him. I did do a full TWRP backup before hand, so not all hope is lost. So what do I do now?

can any one please share ? i'd like to get the OTAs badly. Rooted my phone, installed custom recovery, now i want to the stock recovery back, also i relocked the bootloader. Will this allow me to get OTAs normally after i flash the stock recovery back ? thanks.

i tried flashing with the 2.16.401.1 recovery but getting "signature verify fail", could it be because i installed superuser with TWRP recovery ?If so, how can i fix it ?
EDIT: i guess i did it, forgot to unlock the bootloader, dont know why i locked it again lol, anyways, installed 401.1 recovery and did a factory reset. Is this it ? or do i need to unroot the device with supersu that i have installed and relock the bootloader ? I did not install any custom roms, so the rom is HTC stock, but i installed superuser with TWRP. Will this do any harm ?
Okay i did some research and i FIXED the problem and was able to get OTA update back.
this is what i did:
-Unlocked Bootloader (which i forgot obviosly)
-Installed TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/orig-development/recovery-twp-2-7-1-0-one-mini-2-t2801370)

-made a recovery to show me where i need to copy the backup on my sdcard to
-copied the backup there and made a restore in TWRP
-then flashed the original bootloader back (thanks to: djluisbento) (thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/help/request-original-recovery-img-t2809031) , also make sure you flash the 2.16.401.1 recovery because the nandroid backup is also 2.16.401.1 version. -after i did all that stuffs i was able to get the 2.16.401.5 update and it works flawlessly. And to not forget my CID is HTC__032.

I have a 1095 Moto X 2014, rooted, running stock OS (22.21.11.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US). For the past several weeks, my phone has been asking me to take an OTA upgrade (5.0 -> 5.1, I believe), which I've been avoiding because I'm concerned it will either fail due to root, or cause me to lose my root privileges, forcing me to wipe my phone to regain root. Does anyone have any advice for the best way to handle this? I'm okay with wiping my phone if there's some clear path to restoring my data and settings using Titanium Backup, Nova backup/restore, etc. I know this is sort of a general question, but I'm just looking for a clear workflow for backing my phone up, taking the OTA upgrade and then restoring everything while maintaining root. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
There is no way to retain root for the upgrade. My suggestion would be to download the full 5.0 firmware, the flash just the system image and recovery image. This will remove root and everything should be back to stock. Then you can take the OTA to 5.1. After that just reroot the phone. No formatting or factory resets are necessary. However I do still recommend doing titanium backup before this just in case.

So, more or less do:
1. backup
2. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
3. reboot, take OTA update
4. re-root with CF-Auto-Root

Yes, assuming CF-Auto-Root will work with the latest firmware. I actually never tried it. Normally I flash back TWRP and flash the SuperSu.zip.
This worked perfectly! The only little hiccup was that adb had problems sideloading the SuperSu zip, but TWRP ended up taking care of root for me...it was totally seamless, actually. I am now 5.1 + root and retained all my settings, etc...thanks!
My N6 is rooted, SuperSU and TWRP. On build LYZ28J and want to update to LYZ28K.
It seems I have 3 ways to do this:
1. Use settings in SuperSU to fully unroot, AND flash the LYZ28J recovery.img to replace TWRP. Then I can take the OTA. After that I can rerun the Chainfire Autoroot script and flash TWRP. So i'm updated with no data loss.
2. Flash the factory image. No need to unroot or remove TWRP, but all data is lost. And I still need to reroot and reflash TWRP. Correct ?
3. sideload the ota zip. Just run adb sideload <ota.zip> . No need to unroot . My problem here is that the only place I found with the ota zip is on Droid Life, not a google url. I like Droid Life, read it all the time, but still... Does anyone have a google url link to the OTA ?
Is there another method?
How are others upgrading? Is #3 as easy as I described ?

1. no. to fully unroot, you need to flash a factory image. if you just remove root, itll still think tour rooted because system files have changed. so, wont work.

I've used this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/using-image-to-update-nexus-6-data-loss-t3053158) to update within Lollipop through several versions. It is always best to wipe data when going from one version to the next (Lollipop to Marshmallow) but as long as you are staying within Lollipop this should work fine.

IMO, easiest way. DL zips to internal storage, wipe, and flash. READ the "Read Me" in the first post. When you update it will get rid of SU. Once you boot with update the first time, you can go back and root with TWRP.
Chose to use this. Did not flash the new recovery image. Updated fine, BUT locked and no root, no TWRP. I'll need to run oem unlock again, wiping all the data.
Sigh.
Wrote too soon. SuperSU and TWRP were gone (even though I did not flash recovery.img). Developer Options was gone. So I needed run CF-Autoroot and still need to flash TWRP. But all apps and data remained.
This is great news, especially if we're going to get monthly updates.
Hi there, I am currently running B383 on my P9, and really want to root it. However when I do, will I still be able to get future updates to the software? Do I need to unroot and lock bootloader first?
Also when the bootloader is unlocked, a message is displayed at boot about your phone being unsecured and non-trustworthy, is it possible to remove this message? (I used to have a moto g with an unlocked bootloader, and I flashed some file to remove the warning).

I don't think there is a way to remove that message every time the phone is turned on. Mine does that too as I've unlocked the bootloader.
Did you unlock the bootloader yet? Because when you need to unlock it, the phone will basically be factory reset when bootloader is switched from locked to unlock (vice-versa).
And for OTA updates the best way is to do it manually, downloading the MV-PV file via Huawei Firmware finder (Full PV file which contains two files update.zip and hweu..zip, update.zip (system firmware) is flashed first then hweu.zip (The system apps).
You will need a custom recovery. The one you will need to use is TWRP (This one specifically - twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img) to flash OTA's via custom recovery (To repeat you flash update.zip first then hweu.zip) You can ignore the errors if it prints any while flashing the OTA files as I did the same and it worked fine no problem.
When you want to root your phone, make sure to flash 'SuperSU-v.2.82-EMUI5-SELEnforcing.zip' via TWRP recovery to root your phone.
For the other questions, you do not need to unroot the phone to install the OTA updates. The phone will just unroot itself when the OTA update is flashed onto phone. You simply just need to re-root it again by re flashing the SuperSU zip as mentioned above.
When you need to boot the custom TWRP recovery you need to turn the phone off and hold power + volume up until Huawei Logo / text is displayed you must release both keys immediately after 0.5-1 second which is a short time frame to get the phone to boot to custom recovery or else it will boot the Huawei eRecovery instead.

Hello friends, recently I saw a tutorial on YouTube how to remove the bootloader unlocking notice in Huawei, as a software update arrived for my EVA L09, I wanted to do everything from factory without root or recoverys to install it via ote. So I removed the twrp by the huawei recovery and followed all the steps that the man made and reset the development settings, then I worked in the ADB to re-lock the bootloader, after finishing the processes, my phone was restarted and I'm stuck in the bootloader logo of Huawei, I never step out of there. I wanted to enter the fastbot mode and I can not because it seems to be deleted, I do not know what happens because it does not enter the fastboot mode and only reboots again, nor do I have access to the normal recovery. I tried to use the volume method up + down and power button using the UPDATE.APP but there are no such methods, the phone is apparently clean. it only stays in the logo.
I took him to the technician and he told me to communicate to the support of Huawei because he did not know what to do, I would appreciate too much to help me please, because nowhere do I find something and you are the maximum.

Hello friend, thank you for answering, what I did was the following https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9BZuywrRAw I had the original rom of android 7 and I got the update through the B398 ota but I had root and twrp, I wanted to leave everything in the factory by removing the twrp and replacing it with the huawei recovery and removing the root. When it was restarted, it never came back and I do not understand why I do not have a fastboot or recovery mode.

It is not enough to say EVA-L09 and b398.
You must know what was exactly your original stock ROM (before you rooted), like was it EVA-L09c432b397 or what.
Then, there is very simple method to go back to the stock ROM you started from, say to c432b397, wherefrom you would then be able to accept OTA to b398...
It's all about flashing the correct HWOTA package through TWRP, and you would be back to your unrooted stock and back to your stock recovery:

Unfortunately, now after the YouTube, you have no Androud, no TWRP, no fastboot...
Btw, unlocked Bootloader does not prevent OTA updates. It was only neederd to unroot and then to go back to stock recovery - both you simply get just by flashing the right HWOTA package.
Alternatively, you could have to unroot (SuperSU has its own option to remove root, for Magisk there is a ZIP package to uninstall Magisk), and to flash the original stock recovery - and you would be clean to accept OTA (although with Bootloader still unlocked).
