Changing XFA to XFE on SM-N960F doesn't work - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I downloaded XFE Rom from Sammobile and installed to my SM-N960F using Odin and it upgraded to Android 9 but it still show as OXM_XFA. What do I need to do to change it to XFE ? Thanks in advance for your help.

hi ,
i can give you an idea what to do .?
Please note ,this was my experience .
Firstly ,i was originally on CSC XFV/XFV/XFV (Vodacom )
I flashed the United Arab Emirates XSG ,when Pie originally came out, for Note 9.
I did a dirty flash and landed on a CSC XEU ( Ireland )
eg . CSC XEU/ .?.. /XFV
When XFE was available , flashed XFE ( i did a clean install /factory reset) with my
XFV service provider/ sim card in .
I landed on XFE/XFE/XFV
Note that CSC ( 3rd one above,) is your "hardcore " CSC..... xxx/xxx/ XFV
( Does not change if you flash )
When XFV came available ,and as i had no Samsung Pay ,no voLTE ,no inbuilt spam protection ,and i also would not get any OTA from my service provider ,i decided to flash back to XFV etc .
I flashed XFV ( sim card in ,factory reset )
I was back on CSC XFV /XFV/XFV
Everything was working fine eg voLTE ,Samsung Pay etc ....
This was my experience .
I have also noted that a XFA device/sim , when flashing , XFE (a unbranded Samsung CSC , South Africa ) ) does sometimes give slightly different results !
Most probably,
due to your Service Provider, CSC restrictions ?
eg ,
where i had no voLTE ,wifi calling ,Samsung Pay etc ,
a XFA device flashing XFE would have these functions .
I would suggest when flashing XFE ,do a clean install/factory reset with your XFA (MTN sim ) . It might help ..????
Good luck
Posr note.
Just remembered reading in your local
(MMb forum, Note 8 forum) yesterday, that a forum member,
flashing another country (Pie) multi CSC (can't remember which) on their XFA device, also
retained XFA/XFA/XFA.
So different results. as mine .
So it seems normal.
Maybe don't stress, it appears normal /right!

Thanks I may try this.

Hi,
I added a edit Post note comment.
Don't know if you read it.
Re local MMb forum Note 8 forum, where a member that flashed another country Pie multi CSC (cannot remember which country) If you want link to his local MMb post, i can post it when i have time. .?
So,
i would now say..... if you flashed XFE re Odin, and you are still on XFA/XFA/XFA
then it's normal... ok.
It does not mean that your Note 9 can't /does not want to flash XFE.
Anyway i also read on local forum that PIE Note 9, XFA is available .!
You could always Odin, reflash Pie XFA ?
Good luck.

Just hate the vidacom rubbish built in to xfa, and don't think all the health sensors work Spo2 and Stress sensors don't work (i think) i was on xfa then flagged the uae csc then after that flagged xfe and am now on xeu xfe with all sensors working but no volte or down protection in calls. So it's a bit of give and take...

Seeing that Note 9 Pie/XFA is out
why don't you just Odin, flash back to XFA ?
When i was on XFE, with Vodacom device/sim , i had no volte, no wifi calling, no Samsung Pay, No inbuilt Hiya spam protection.... and no Vodacom splash screen!
Yes i could see the relevant settings eg wifi
calling .. greyed out.
Samsung Pay .. not working. etc.
When i flashed back to XFV all was working again.
So these features was "restricted/blocked " in my Service Provider sim.
Only plus i got with XFE, was video calling was available on phone dailer.
On XFV video calling is hidden.
You can receive video calls, but not make them.
Good luck

Can you explain me a little bit your process and what do you mean with no volte or down protection in calls?. I will like to have SP02 and sress sensors on rather than some other functions.
Thanks

Hello ,
I live in Egypt, and i just bought my note 5 "n920c" from another country and it came with a lot of apps that dosn't work anywhere but in a specific region.

I too am considering to flash this firmware. Unfortunately, i got reception issue with the new CSC, N920COJV2AOJ3. I cannot touch 4 bar signals on 4G. to be honest a bit better than ex-one. anyway
The website says ,as instruction,;
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.10.7
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v3.10.7
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
please let me know your experience, if you follow them.

Have you tried changing CSC? I'm curios that 4 bar signals on 4G fixed by another CSC or not.

nope.. but someone mentioned to have built the russian csc into 920c and also to be utterly satisfied with it,considering getting better reception.
i cant say new update is the same as the ex one. but to be honest, it has still problem with reception. i think the only way for satisfaction on it is to flashing and using the russian one.

I did flash the stock russian firmware to mine(came with UAE) and the reception didn't change. And also know that flashing a rom doesn't affect the baseband(the stuff that deals with the reception). The only thing you'll notice would be the bloatware that is russia specific. I am not sure why samsung blocked the ability to flash different basebands.

I see... I noticed the phone somehow sticks to finding 4g skipping good quality reception of H or H+. I have just checked mine. 4G reception streght is shown to be 120db which is unbelievably low. Moreover, i know 3g or even 2g is very good in my area ( i live in a city) but phone skips these, just focuses on finding 4g. thats very interesting.
if I change the band option from 4g to only 3g, I always get 4 bars of 3g. I think the problem comes from its software as well. But, i do not know how to fix it.

Question Changing CSC only with Odin?

Hello
If I want to change my CSC (MID) to another one let's say the UAE one, can I simply flash Home CSC in Odin?
If yes should I follow the same step as flashing an entire FW ?
And can I find the Home CSC alone or I have to download the full FW Zip?

HOME_CSC does not change the CSC code, you would use the other CSC firmware file.
However, mixing firmware files from different versions or regions is not advisable.
Sadly and to the best of my knowlege it is no longer possible to change CSC using ODIN & flashing just a stock Samung FW pack.
You need to buy credits and use an online service (Samkey?) to change CSC on Samsung phones now.
I've changed CSC from VOD (uk) to XID (Indonesia, for native call recording) with Odin without wipe anything. I only flashed stock XID firmware with home_csc and it works without Samkey

Xid is not from multi csc, it's single csc.
But how about to change first to to XID and then to the wanted CSC Region ?

Yes it will work I think. I changed with DBT to XID and today I flash DBT back and I have DBT. So I think different countries should change as follows. And I don't have to use samkey
i have downloaded a full firmware for my s20 plus 5g Korean version, and i also downloaded the full firmware of s20 plus from the Philippines. i want to change my csc to Philippines using Odin. should i check all the file inside the s20 plus firmware from the philippines or just the CSC file only? then the rest is from my s20 plus 5g firmware file

change csc

hello I tried to change the CSC on my Samsung so that I could record calls, my original CSC was xeo Poland. after uploading CSC from Israel, TUR / TUR TUR / TUR appeared but this is not CSC from Israel but from Turkey ... why? When I tried to go back to xeo, now CSC: TUR / TUR, TUR / EUX / XEO .... wtf
same here...
I have Galaxy S20 FE 5G SM-G781B It came with Android 11 INS (India) CSC Region Code.
I've Tried to flash the ILO (Israel) ROM, but It seems to be that the CSC Region Code changed to XSG (United Arab Emirates). How to change the CSC to ILO?

U have a solution
yeah flash only the HOME CSC file from the India region, make sure firmware version is the same
If you're trying to get call recording, flash Indonesian CSC (XID), it did work on my XEO phone just fine.

Change CSC AUT (EUY) to XEF (EUX) possible?

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Galaxy S20 FE 4G (SM-G780G) in Switzerland. As I am living in France, I inserted my french SIM card, but the phone is still displaying AUT / AUT, AUT / EUY / AUT.
The CSC is AUT (included in EUY group), but I would like to change CSC to XEF (included in EUX group).
It is not really clear for me if this is possible (with Samkey) as the two CSC's are not in the same group. The phone should of course still work 100% after the change and warranty should stay valid.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yeah you can do that.
Android 12 should roll out soon in our region.. I'm from Germany and use Malaysian firmware, when I flashed I did so without selecting any csc in Odin. And it automatically installed the one I needed I think.
But it will factory reset your phone.
I also installed XME to get Android 12 first. I noticed a worse overall performance though. Are Android 12 ROM running significantly cooler than Android 11 since thermal throttling seems to be an issue to every S20 FE user..? Any CSC that might perform better in this area since some CSCs have regional difference like SER from Russia comes without Bixby?

before you pay out money (I've heard that Samkey told one user our device wasn't supported) maybe the method outlined in this thread is worth a try, but using the pit file from XEF
How to change CSC back to original if you are not able to
So i have a S20Fe exynos and me being impatient installed oneui4 SER version on device thinking that will see whatever happens. I am also developer of Clean OS rom for s20fe so i tried using my csc feature script and it worked flawlessly in SER...
forum.xda-developers.com
if it doesn't work fully then the same method should be able to return it to AUT if needed.
curious how it works out if you do try it.
Do you guys know what countries uses EUY and EUX?
I've got a new phone and i like to use AUT ROMs but so far all we have are EUY and EUX, not AUT
