How can i cast/connect to a TV - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
I just bought for my father a Mi Pad 4 Plus .
Unfortunetly it was in chinese/english (coming from gearbest) but my old father managed to install a new rom good
But at last, it's not easy to connect/cast to a TV.
He tried with USB/C => HDMI adaptator without sucess.
I've read that chromecast doesn't work.
It seems that maybe with a dongle with anycast could work or mirroring with a mirroring app on the TV may be ?
He got two TV, one smart and the other not (even if the tv can connect to internet)
Do you have any solution wich work at 100% ?
Thanks !

Reviews say Mi Pad 4 Plus doesn't support video out via usb-C, but casting to a Chromecast should work, I'll test on mine in a few hours when I'm home.
I believe I'm on unofficial global ROM (xiaomi.eu)

I can confirm my Mi Pad 4 Plus can connect to my Chromecast, although it's not optimised, displays a lower resolution on the TV than the one on the device. Casting Youtube/Twitch/VLC/etc works great at good quality

wrong post...

Please try this:
Setting - permission - Google Play Services - (look for) Record audio - (choose) Accept.
Now, restart the Mi Pad 4 Plus
Go to app, Home. You can use it to mirror your screen to Chromecast 2 now.
Cheers~

Does Xperia Z1 Support simultaneous screen mirroring and wifi internet connection?

Hello, I´ve acquired recently an used Xperia Z1, I know I can use MHL to output video to my TV but I want to do that wirelessly. So I want to know before I buy a miracast adapter if the phone supports simultaneous screen mirroring (over wifi direct or miracast) and mantain a wifi internet connection.
An example of what I want to do is to screen mirror the phone screen on my tv while I stream a movie over WiFi and have the phone near my couch so I can pause, skip, etc... and control the movie with the phone in my hands instead of having to walk over to the phone mhl connected to the TV.
I ask this because I´ve read that the xperia Z can´t do it and couldn´t find if the Z1 suffers the same issue.
No native english speaker so please forgive the bad grammar. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's what called Miracast
I'm don't know about TV, but I test my Z1 to connect Lenovo projector, it's works really well with Miracast + streaming from Youtube :3
Just make sure, your TV support Z1 Miracast, since I need update Lenovo projector software, so I can connect it with my Z1.

Thank you so much for your quick reply, I plan to use a EZcast adapter/dongle connected to my TV hdmi port, I would like to know if your Lenovo projector was connected to the internet too (maybe a Wi-Fi capable projector?) Or if you were using an adapter/dongle connected to the hdmi port in the projector. Thanks.

My pleasure :3
Hmm, you can test that, since Google Cast use the same way :3
Eh, it didn't connect to wifi, because it's used by miracast, I'm afraid my projector didn't capable to do that ( I didn't test it ), but you can switch to connect to your router (if you need update the software or you can also use your router for streaming like phone> router> projector ).
I'm not using any adapter, since the projector used in built Miracast and wifi too.
You should test your adapter first, for compatible test :3

Witch products do you use to connect Mi 8 on a external Display?

Hi guys, can you please link products do connect Mi 8 on a external Display?
If you have one, can you put links here?
I'm trying to find a way to use on my TV
The are usb type-c to hdmi converters.
Anyway, the maximum speed of the USB on this mobiles is really slow (30MB/s). It's theoretically able to provide a good video but in practice it's not.
mi 8 don't support mhl over usb c so it's not possible
I'm using mibox 3. it works good.
I am also interested in this subject. I do have a multimedia car stereo with HDMI in and I would like to mirror the MI8 to it (to watch movies or the navigation app).
I did understand that it doesn't support MHL or whatever BUT I was wondering if there is any other options (Displaylink as example) that is compatible to use in car (so that is not needed to be powered or that can be powered thru usb and that doesn't need WiFi).
Any help/idea?

It works with mi8? what laptop model is?
i use apowermirror installed on both PC and Cellphone (make search over google, it's easy), connect PC to the phone through USB or WIFI and have phone display on PC and viceversa, can make plenty of settings and quality... this way then i have the PC connected on my main high quality TV and there we go, no latency high quality phone on TV and i use it for gaming for example connect bluetooth gamepad to the phone, launch high quality android games such as life is strange and played with high experience on TV, this as usefull when i was sick and ill at home and had no good pc and no consoles.... was a very good experience.... the only downside is that apowermirror can transmit in "FULL SCREEN" only with paid VIP pro version.

Chromecast, anycast, Miracast.... Chromecast is the best, but none is perfect

Chrome cast issue / Wireless Projection issue

My P30 Pro, my wife mate 20 Pro and my dad mate 20 don't have chrome cast option for whole device screen mirror. And the wireless projection not working at all. I been Google and seem to norm and no one seem to use this much.
App cast like Google photo and YouTube is fine.
Anyone facing issue like this as mine?

Yes, same issue here, the 'Wireless Projection' toggle brings up my Sony Android TV as an option but when i select it nothing happens. Within Youtube, Google Photos etc the cast feature works fine to the same TV. No issues with my previous Pixel or Samsung device.

Indeed. My old LG G6 and my dad Samsung chrome cast work fine. Guess it's huawei own issue in software?
What I found on my Sony Android TV, it will cast when you switch to wireless projection as "input" on TV, where you see the screen saying that it is ready for it.
On Samsung, it took few tries but the TV eventually accepted the cast.
The implementation may be buggy or not fully/widely compliant. Yet.
I suspect EMUI supports Miracast but not Chromecast when using that Wireless Projection action, which is a shame. You have to go through the Google Home app to chromecast screen content.
Hoping this is something Huawei could eventually add.
I am using my chrome cast and it is working fine.

Same issue on the P30 version of the phone to a 2017 Samsung TV. Casting youtube will bring up the app on the TV (although I seem to have to do it twice everytime). However wireless projection does not work.

I will check this feature with chrome cast and update u shortly
I found I had to install Mirrcast to be able to see any chromecast devices. Just have to run as an app and not from the pull down bar.

Thank you for this. I'd been looking for a solution. I have a Sony Bravia XBR-55X900E and a Huawei P30 and couldn't get screen mirroring to work (although no problems with my Samsung S8). I'd seen that page on the TV by selecting the Screen Mirroring input but thought it was just a information page. Once that page is shown, I select Wireless Projection on my P30 and now the TV shows up for me to select it. (When I'm not on the Screen Mirroring input, I never see the TV as an option to select on my P30). I click on it and it connects. I wondered if that was a one-time setup thing and if I needed to select the Screen Mirroring input on subsequent connections. I found I do, so now I need to program a way to do that from my Harmony Remote Thanks for solving this for me!
Ignore this post, can't find the delete button.
Reading some ideas here I just came up with a method for Samsung 6300 series that seems to work:
- go to "connection guide" in the source menu
- enter to "mobile device" section and click the button that appears in it. Then the TV will appear in the devices list of the Wireless Projection in the Huawei phone. BUUUT still don't try to connect.
- Leave the connection manager in the TV (go to home, for example)
- now you can select the tv in the phone list and it will connect.
It worked for me twice. I'll have to test it more because I have the feeling the working of this wireless projection between Huawei phone and Samsung TV is a bit random. Hope it works for you.
Hi there,
I bought me a new TV some days ago with Android TV on it. It is a Philips 55 PUS 7304.
Everything works fine on the TV except wireless connection from my Huawei P30Pro.
I just don't see my TV when I turn it on. I even see the TV from my neighbour, but the Philips doesn't appear.
Somebody else got the Problem??
On my Tablet with Lineage OS the TV is there in a second and wireless connection works like a charm. On my Huawei P30Pro I can only stream inside of an app. I can send files to the TV, I can mirror my Netflix, Prime, Google Chrome etc. but I just don't get wireless connection ti run.
Please help me. What am I doing wrong?
Really nobody here with a Philips TV???
Does it work with a Philips with Android TV and the P30Pro for anyone?
I found that if you open up the Google Home app and find your chromecast in there there is a 'cast screen to TV' option - this works 100% fine on my P30 Pro.
As listed above, wireless projection only works if you find the 'mobile device' input of your TV.

I have the same TV as you and the same phone as you, and no, wireless projection just doesn't work.
Searching for compatible device, but never finding my TV.
I mainly wanted to use it for desktop mode on my phone.

Thats exactly what I wanted to test. Desktop mode seems to be a very cool feature but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know exactly why?
Is it really Wi-Fi Direct?
Really strange that such a big company like philips doesn't support this and nearly all others do.
@Nu72 This works for me too. But this doesn't support the Huawei Desktop mode. Otherwise I can cast my tablet too. This is a lineage Android one and it works without any google home.

Cast screen to Samsung TV?

Dear all,
I'm happy with my Mi 9T Pro - running MIUI 11 Global - for anything but the cast feature.
I have a Samsung TV and when I had a Samsung S9 I was able to seamlessly cast the screen content to the TV.
With Mi 9t Pro anything I tried failed.
Is there a way to accomplish this specific request? Might a custom ROM add the needed feature - protocol - libraries that enable this?
Thanks!

Playstore - Video and TV cast /Samsung TV
Both smartphone and tv must be on the same 2.4 GHz wifi network (not 5GHz). Enable Bluetooth.
Start your TV.
Mi 9T Pro: Settings
> Connection & sharing
> Cast
> Enable Cast
Be patient the first time. Repeat the procedure a few times.

This is correct when you use a WiFi connection for your TV.
When you use an UTP connection for your TV to for example your router it does not matter what kind of WiFi network you are using.
Both (2,4Ghz of 5Ghz) will then work.
Thanks everybody for your answers.
@hewlett2008, thanks but I didn't explain well my request: I would like to mirror phone's screen to TV, so the application you suggest does not accomplish this task.
@actiyo and @Snah001, I made all possible test but did not manage to make it work.
I tried with TV connected via cable and via wireless, and both times activating the cast feature on the phone didn't make anything happen.
In a random attempt I also manually added TV to the phone via wi-fi direct, and TV did ask me to authorize the connection, but even in that case the cast feature did not work.
I find it weird that this feature is listed as one of MIUI 11's improvements and it just does not work with a large selling TV producer like Samsung.
Any help will be appreciated.
Double post.
Weird. I can cast to my KU6400 Samsung.
I think mine is a quite recent model: MU6400, 49"; I purchased it a couple of years ago.
I used to mirror my phone to quickly show some news articles or funny Whatsapp messages to my family, and I miss this feature quite bit.
I'm not a total newbie of technology issues, but this problem is baffling to me.
I guess I will end purchasing a Amazon Firestick or something similar just to use this feature, but would try anything before because the TV is hanging on a wall and any device connected to HDMI would not be nice to see.
Cast problems
I have a Xiaomi mi9t pro . I have 2 tv . One a LG newer one and one Samsung "old" one . Both smart TV . After update from miui 10 to miui 11 cast won't work on the Samsung TV from the app like YouTube. Tried everything . No matter what I selected 2,4 ghz or 5 ghz network . With screen mirroring is working , but I find this kind of useless because I don't like how I see the movies in frames . Anyone with some ideas ? I have 2 another phones in my house , both working with the Samsung TV so it's clear is not the tv the problem !

Well, screen mirroring is exactly what I'd like to use.
Could you please tell me what are the exact steps you perform (on both phone and TV) to activate screen mirroring?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone tried the AnyCast M9 Plus to mirror their screen on TV ?

Hey guys,
So I have a 2011 Samsung Smart TV in my living room. Since it's quite old it doesn't fully support screen mirroring unless it's done via a HDMI cable. I say fully because Smart View works with certain Samsung apps like the Gallery, Music & Video player but it won't do the actual screen mirroring of my entire phone screen. Seeing how we got wireless DeX with the OneUI 2.5 update, I'd like to enable my TV to work with screen mirroring and wireless DeX. Has anyone bought the AnyCast M9 Plus dongle & used screen mirroring with it? What's the experience with it? I won't play games but will mostly use wireless DeX to watch online videos via the browser. Any input is really appreciated Thinking of buying the AnyCast M9 Plus but would be nice to hear how it works from someone who has it and uses or has had and used it.
