have been testing this ROM for a whole day today, i realize its very laggy, takes a couple of seconds to response to actions, can you offer any solutions to the lag in this ROM? want to use it as alternative to lineage OS 14.1 as it doesn't look like we are going to have official lineage Os 15.1 or any further development to the ZTE K88.
Thanks in advance

Back in January, @tdm stated that he would get to making Oreo stable (I assume for Lineage and AOKP) soon. It has been almost 3 months since then. So, perhaps it is close, or perhaps @tdm gave up (hopefully the former).

Try the other Oreo ROM, DotOS. I didn't try RR, but DotOS is working really great for me as a daily driver.
Also, I hope you are doing a clean flash and on the updated TWRP.

I really hoped someone would continue development for this amazing tablet! Anyways, thanks for your contribution.
Please get another K88! I just a brand new k88 from Swappa for 85$. I don't think for below 100$ you can get anything better than this.

I sorted out the lagged issues withe the ROM, I forgot to enable root, and flashed Dolby Audio mod, hence the lagging.
I flashed the latest version of Magisk and my issue concerning lagging was solved.
All other Oreo Roms works well except that in DotOs, it takes a bit of time to recharge the tablet and the battery also drains quicker.
With RR Oreo ROM, the battery recharge well and does not drains fast as the other Oreo Variant ROMs.

in fact Trek 2 costs me 50 dollars ebay.
but it happens that I'm not a developer, the developer is @tdm, I just build with my friend @jmpf_bmx, it's useless makes new compilations without bugs solved the sources of @tdm is there to contribute.
I do not know much about fixing bugs in Android device sources. I would have to study a lot of informatics, binary numbers, etc ...

Yea very sad, I will hold onto with my Trek 2 a bit longer to see if development will continue later on even though I am considering other tablets with good XDA community support. @tdm, @juniorgerman, thanks for your efforts in this forum with regards to the Trek 2.

I like the tablet more for the size of the screen to read books, comic book, etc ... and more

Absolutely, I do lots of remote connections to my clients PCs and the tablet serves as the perfect tool for that purpose.

Honestly, I don't really care much about further development. A stable AOSP oreo is more than I was expecting from such a budget tablet. I am gonna hang on to this tablet for the foreseeable future.
I had a MI Pad4 before this one, that was a perfect tablet development and performance-wise, but the weight was too heavy for long time reading, especially at night. So I sold that one and purchased this for less than half the price! Besides, being that cheap I don't have to always worry about dropping or losing it!

Hi, since you are using the RR Oreo rom installed, I am assuming you have the latest twrp too. Did you save a copy?
I am on an older version of twrp and that doesn't seem to work with RR, but strangely works with DotOS.
Battery life with DotOS has been decent for me, but I want to try RR based on your recommendation. Thnx.

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

About the same as any other AOSP ROM I've used on this thing. About 1 day with moderate usage, and about 2 with lighter usage.
Update: so far so good. A nice clean rom with a decent feature set without becoming bloated like rr
One problem I noticed today is that the phone tends to freeze up when powering off. I have to do power + volume up to force restart it. Not the biggest issue since my phone's always on, but still wanted to point it out.
Does this require the N bootloader/modem install prior to flashing the ROM? Or can this be flashed after wiping coming from rooted/bl unlocked 6.0.1?

Hello,
I have an Axon 7 2017 G model. Can I safely flash the CARBON-CR-5.1-MOO-UNOFFICIAL-axon7-20170712-0931.zip for the ZTE Axon 7(2017U), by Kranoner? If not, is there a version for the 2017 G?

Your comments are really childish and pointless! One would think to see kids in a playground! It shows the seriousness behind it...
The screenshots are far from useless. They bring a plus and thus give a preview of the ROM on the device. Each ROM is different and has its own features on each device. Just take a look at the other topics.
A presentation made this way really does not make me want to install it. We are not even sure of the compatibility of the ROM! I will not take the risk of installing it on my phone at the risk of bricklaying it.

Your sad rhetoric deeply illustrates your inexperience and low ability. A screenshot is as such. No "compatibility" judgement can be drawn from a screenshot.
Ever heard of the phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover"? I think your compatibility with ROM reviewing needs work.
Advice - when a maintainer (like @Skorupsi) comes along with tried, tested and respected ROMs....try them for your compatibility. You know how to Nandroid backup I hope? If you do...you won't be "bricklaying" your device.
Anyway, I digress slightly. My comment stands. Screenshots are useless in determining a ROMs compatibility, performance and worthiness. Wind up.

Do you do it on purpose or what?!
A screenshot is primarily intended to provide an overview of the ROM and its contents. After that, I don't force anyone. If Skorupsi doesn't want to post any screenshot, this is his problem.
In addition, take a look at https://download.mokeedev.com/ and you will see that there is no version for the A5 2017! So we are dealing with an UNOFFICIAL VERSION.
That's why I think screenshots are welcome on this topic. That's all.
Click to collapse
You really need to wind up now. Both @Skorupsi and I have discussed this with you already.
Unofficial is given to any ROM that has not yet been put through it's paces. LOS 14.1 is currently UNOFFICIAL...you avoid that too?
Learn about the ROM community and how it works. Then come back to discuss further.
For now, I would be careful how you conduct yourself on these forums and request that you respect the community standards, developers and members alike. If you continue to bombast, then it will not look good in your part.

To build a ROM you need something called device tree and everything depends on it, A5 and A7 have it nearly perfect, A3 is different SoC and McFy is working hardly on this, so trust him and let him work

A good idea would be to make a backup of your ROM without data and then make a separate backup of your data. That way you can flash a new ROM and quickly restore data after you setup your new ROM.
Also, please allow the ROM a few days to settle onto your device so you can then fully assess it's worthiness for your needs. Often, so many users fail to do this and do not see the full ROM - only a small part.
All these ROMs are classic examples of brilliant custom builds and have stood the test of time in so many devices (I've had them all on Xperia SP and Moto X Play)
Following my suggestion would allow you to pick and choose your favourite flavour without too much time restoring apps (takes around 6 minutes via TWRP restore)
Good luck and have fun finding your way

Flashed over @Brunowp8 latest unofficial RR 5.8.5 from May and it works great
The only thing I noticed is that wallpapers were downgraded in your build.
I would also add an "unofficial" to the ROM package name so that nobody could think it is an official build

Since the Oreo ROMs have higher battery drain and some problems - can this ROM be considered as an up-to-date problem-free battery friendly ROM for those who look for something to settle? The new features Oreo brought aren't that important for me but the most smooth experience with my smartphone. Currently I am not sure which way to go.

Yes ^^. But i don't think it's a "problemless" even if it's up to date, resurrection remix roms are full of bugs, like it was randomly rebooting on my klte or even activating a feature that did brick m'y phone (it was pie menu XD)
If really want THE BEST, low battery drain, no bugs, up to date, stable as hell, there's nothing better than lineage os 14.1 and aokp nougat

The new features Oreo brought aren't that important for me but the most smooth experience with my smartphone. Currently I am not sure which way to go.

In my experience, :3 years+ 3 s5's and countless ROM's you won't find a better mix of smoothness, reliability battery drain and customization than this ROM. That's just been my experience with my particular variant. I can find zero bugs.

Yes!
I have used many ROMS and I always return to RR.
I have used LineageOS, Mokee, AOKP, crDroid and many more and none has given me as much battery time as RR, thanks.
Awesome job @IKGapirov
Hope one day you can port a MIUI ROM.

Really ? Don't want to be disrespectful but about customization ,90% of ROM's have that cmz.(10% remains to stock LOS ,others ) ,smoothness and battery life Oreo pass that test for along time now ,you only need to find your ROM.
And I always return to AOSP Oreo ,it's just me ?

Don't get me wrong I love aex/Oreo. I wish that it was more stable from build to build. I wish I could use Dolby atmos with Oreo and I also wish BT didn't break on me when switching from phone to speaker and back. I don't like the fact that I have to delete a bunch of apps to get good battery drain and just when I have it figured out the next build is different.
As far as you being disrespectful about the customization, your not, however you are misstaken.
RR.$.8.5 has more than pretty much any other ROM around and I get excellent battery right out of the box. The only thing I find missing in. This ROM is the option to change system front's without a third party app.
The bottom line is that this s*** is subjective, from user to user and phone to phone depending on how you use, what gapps you use, or don't, third party apps and taste. I love aex but for me I find this ROM is a lot more stable.

Hello. I have the problem that when I'm surfing online, for example on Facebook, and my mobile phone is moving from mobile data to Wi-Fi, or backwards, it suddenly stops loading the page. I have to kill the app and reload it, then it will work again. Only closing does not help. It does not matter if it's in an app or through the browser.
The same problem exists with the official RR 7.1.2.
Can someone help?

I have not personally experienced this problem. My gut is telling me you need to try formatting data in TWRP. I don't think it's an RR problem. Again this is just a hunch. Are you on the latest firmware for your device? Updating to the latest baseband could potentially help as well... I don't know what else it could be?? Sorry that's all I got for you good luck

Support:

Yess! Finally you are here! Tnx a lot buddy!
Sweet! Thanks man, going to flash it now!
Nice to see you here ...
This is the one I've been waiting for ???
Flashed and ROM is superfast and fluid.
Feb security patch if need to know
Man, the last time I ran Carbon was in the LG G3 days, and it rocked back then.
Installed and setup without a hitch. The ROM is super snappy. It's impressively fluid and responsive. Too early to tell much else. I'm going to take this for a spin in the coming days. Great job, brother!
As noted, it is an early release. Please be patient and give it time to mature. While not bare bones, it is lacking some popular features. Inb4 the can I has storm.
Edit: The ROM is performing great. No crazy idle drain and deep sleeps as it should. The stock kernel is very efficient.
Wow.. Its soo Aww to see this rom for op6..
Can't believe how good this rom is on an initial release. This is why carbon is top notch?

Thanks for your feedback. I don't mean to start a war but what's your background on this device? Like did you try a lot of other custom ROMs and you can tell this one is faster?

Had the device since launch, been rooted forever and have tried almost all roms on xda, stock and aosp. All roms are good for what they are, but some miss features while others have a plethora of features. I've used Carbon on many previous devices and always found myself going back to Carbon. Yes, I'm a flashaholic of many years, but to me, Carbon has always been a gold-standard thru all my flashing of various devices... I stray, but always come back
This is my opinion only of course, but past experiences with Carbon have been nothing but buttery goodness. This initial release is an excellent beginning of what I hope will be a long line of releases for this device. Some of my fave roms on here are Omni, AOSIP, Tresk, and Syberia. One of the reasons I bough the Oneplus 6 was the ability to flash roms and the excellent community of sites like XDA. Love this site

This is a good sign. This is a popular ROM but the thread is completely dead. This usually means nobody is having any problems worth noting.
I'll have to give this a shot

Hey guys,
nice to See carbon here, i used it some years ago on my S4,S3,S2 (and maybe Note 2 LTE,but im not sure )
i was on 9.0.4 and installed it some minutes ago. After first Boot there was a message i should update my Vendor or something like that.
I dont know if its important i got my OP6 4 days ago and i didnt mod my last phone so much (Huawei Mate 10 Pro btw) so i dont have big knowledge at the moment, sorry
Everything else works for now (at least what i have Seen/tried ) and it runs very smooth!
Here is what ive done, maybe i made a mistake here,it was the first Rom i flashed in this phone:
- of course a Backup (Titanium Backup and Nandroid)
- wipe Dalvik,System and Data
- flashed Rom and twrp
- reboot
- flash pico gapps and Magisk
i Miss the gestures so i think i will go back to stock for a while (until i found something similar, i know there are some apps but i didnt try Them now)
Edit: had to decrypt my device to be able to boot stock afterwards, simply did a factoy reset and restored my Data partition.

Official builds are here
The time has finally come, we're going official.
After Server issues, and several rebases due to Google's Upstream doing the same, we're finally satisfied with the ROM to make it officially available to the public.
The new CarbonROM revision 7.0 is codenamed Opal, and is currently based on android-9.0.0_r35 (thats the April security bulletin).
The OP has been updated to include the official download.
PLEASE NOTE: You WILL need to perform a clean install. The official builds are signed with custom keys for your security and are therefore not compatible with the unofficial builds that were signed with the default Google keys.
We feel like this might be one of our best releases yet, with new features like Aggressive Battery, a newly designed performance vendor and many more coming. Let us know what you think.
Also, this is the first time ever we will keep on maintaining the older branch. That means you will still get monthly security updates of Noct on the devices that do not support Pie yet.
A new blog is due to get up soon, an in depth release post will follow there.
For now, Happy flashing and we hope you'll enjoy the ROM as much as we did creating it
Best news this week so far...?

Hello dear people As we know, there are a lot of Pie ROMs for our lovely Moto G4 Play (Harpia)
I will list the most relevant ROMs at the moment: 25 December 2019
With "relevant" I mean, the most recently updated, good, stable in descending order. Most stable, fastest and good ROMs go first; according to many users and testers :highfive:
1) AOSPExtended v6.7 (2019-12-20) - XDAForum - Download Page
2) COSP (2019-09-17) - XDAForum - Download Page
3) ViperOS v6.7 (2019-08-18) - XDAForum - Download Page
4) crDroid v5.6 (2019-07-11) [Support Ended] - XDAForum - Download Page
5) Resurrection Remix v7.0.2 (2019-06-11) - XDAForum - Download Page
There are other Pie ROMs no longer maintained and are discontinued, outdated or even completely deleted. They are worthy to be mentioned, though
Pixel Experience ; Bootleggers ; CypherOS ; PixysOS
Android 10 on Moto G4 Play :victory: :
There is a Telegram Channel where some developers are testing Android 10 for Moto G4 Play. Thanks to @midhun.ko for the info :good: Big Thanks to @facuarmo for the active development
https://t.me/s/romdelivery
Of course those ROMs are in alpha state, they are very laggy, unstable and have a lot of bugs.
Only if you want to test and help in the development, go ahead and install to give logs and feedback to the devs
These Android 10 ROMs are NOT for daily use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bootleggers and pixyos should've been maintained, they are good. I'm on pixel experience currently and it is good, now will switch to ViperOS in a couple days.

Yes bro But some developers simply go and never look back again. As I said before, they are gone without saying "goodbye"
For example, the developer of AOSPExtended Oreo ROM. He simply closed the thread, deleted the download links and left forever without saying a word. After that, he was promoted to "Recognized Developer"
Honestly, several and I felt very upset, since some of us didn't have the ROM in our computers. So, I had to settle for the slow Resurrection Remix Oreo ROM. It really was very unfair of him.
Really nice choice, good luck with ViperOS !!

COSP (2019-09-17) - Download Link in First Post
Came across your post just now. I have installed Pixel Experience. Though its great, its 2nd Sim has only working 2G.
I would try ViperOS next. Does it have any sim related problems? Are there any other bugs?
Thanks for this list, please keep it updated

Excelent words :good:
I'm sure you will enjoy COSP (recommended) or ViperOS Pie ROMs
Yeah, AOSPExt was nice but the Team didn't accept the reachomk's petition to be the Official Mantainer, maybe for that reason the project for our Harpia is abandonned.
I know Stock Nougat is the fastest and most stable ROM, but we need to admit that we like all the features that have the Custom ROMs (Oreo & Pie)
I will wait your review about the ROM(s) you have installed, have a nice day !!
