BetterBatteryStats for Galaxy Note 8 (One Ui V.1.0 - Non root) - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I'm new here and this is my first post. So Hi there everyone.
I discovered XDA fairly recently and I quickly realised that it's a great place to learn everything Android and joined up.
I did search the forum before starting a new thread but didn't find my question. But I am hopeless with keywords so I apologise if my following questions have been answered many times already.
I would like an app which will display as much battery usage Information as possible. I'm using a non-root Galaxy Note 8 running One Ui v1.0
I am aware that options are limited for non-routed devices but I read that BetterBatteryStats does work on non-root Note 8's running One Ui but requires ADB (something I have started to familiarise myself with). Also one review on the apps Play Store page mentioned that there's a XDA version of the app. However I'm getting the impression that the app originated from XDA anyway.
Before I even attempt to install it I'd really like to get a little advice from a trusted forum.
So if anyone here can spare the time please could you confirm...
Will BetterBatteryStats run on my non-root One Ui Note 8 correctly?
Is there anything important that I should know about that's not already in the current documentation?
Is there a 'XDA' version of the app or has it always been an XDA developed app anyway?
And finally... if BetterBatteryStats is not suitable for the Note 8 then is there an alternative you would recommend?
Many thanks in advance.

Yes it will run correctly
Nope everything is straight forward
I think there used to be. But now it's on the play store

You can get the XDA version through the Hockey app, and you also have GSam Battery from play store. Both are limited in output without root however.

Hi guys, much water under the bridge since we released the app, and its working better than ever! Weve added previews, format selection and share menu integration!
Please visit the thread in the OP to get the app!
I'll buy it for sure right now.... but is this even possible without root?
Sent from my HTC Evo
Universally like our app, no, its not possible without root.
Some manufacturers have used the same general backend for their own screenshot functionality, including samsung. But generally it all depends on the quality of the adb implementation.
We use our own method to read the video buffer, but its a brute force solution (which is why we need root).
Guys, im about to roll out a big update for SER with nice new features. Please be ready to test it at your leasure!

If you ever release a solution that doesn't require me to tamper with my device and possibly void the warranty let me know. I wish the market filtered root only apps out.
Right... ill be sure to remember this post you made.
In any case - you can unvoid your warranty by unrooting at any time. I would have thought you would know this, having registered in 2009.
Also, there are no non-root screenshot apps.
What's the difference between Screenshot ER and Screenshot ER 2?

I only said possibly, but I was sure there were one or two apps out there at least for other devices that didnr need root. It doesn't break my heart, I use ddms for screenshots thank you anyways for your hard work.

For some reason Google suspended SER, so I've made a new package name and launched it again. There is no difference, apart from some bugfixes since the last version.

ATM its all up to Google. I will send anyone who has their original order number SER 2.
As you may or may not know, theres almost no direct support for the android market, so i cant say with certainty that they will eveentually restore the original SER.
It was probably one of our competitors flagging our apps. Bastards.
Hmm.. that's not very nice :/
Where should we sent the original order number to get our copy of SER 2?
Our market email please.

Improved performance with "Performance Booster"

I have LG Optimus 4X HD since 2012. It was good until I upgraded to JB 4.1.2 (official). Severe battery drain, game lags, heating etc forced me to install custom ROMs. First tried CM, better than stock but not as good as I wanted; then tried MIUI V5, much better than both stock & CM. Never tried custom kernels though. I even tried other Chinese ROMs (based on stock) to see if better. Battery, UI etc were more than satisfactory with MIUI but lags in games and sometimes hanging while opening apps were still frustrating. Then one day I saw "Performance Booster" somewhere & gave a try with free version first. It drastically changed the performance then I installed donate version which improved overall experience. As mentioned in the app it didn't improve benchmarks but improved phones performance for sure. In other words, it saved my money from buying a new phone. Now I don't need new one as I have 'Huawei Mediapad X1' for reading, games & watching videos, which I bought here in China for less than 300$ (it's 400 Euros outside China).
So what is it? I don't try to be rude, but at least you can share where we can find it or something. I know Google it's a good friend but I don't know what exactly. BTW thanks for share your experience

I think it's not allowed to post links to apps here in this forum so didn't post. You can search in play store, it's there, give a try & see yourself.

I don't think that it's forbidden to post links, as long as you don't earn money by doing so (for example adfly links). But I'm not absolutely sure.
I've also searched the app on the Play Store, couldn't find any app called "Performance Booster" though.

Im guessing hes talking about this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gejos.android.performancebooster Which i would highly recommend not using.
This is from the description:
Performance Booster will change the kernel process for managing all layers such Android Runtime in Core Libraries and Dalvik VM layers, User Libraries layer, Application Framework layer, and Applications layer.

I have tested by curiosity, and my conclusion is "I haven't seen any clear effect"

Got curious and decompiled the apk. Most of the stuff is license checking. Otherwise it sets a few process management properties and that's all.

I get FC's when I use it. I had to reboot after trying the "paranoid android" theme. Does anyone else have this issue with the app? I'm running LS 12/23 build currently. I was going to test it before buying the pro version but I can't seem to get it to actually work even after enabling it on my accessibility menu.
Noyze doesn't work right for me either.
Wish L5.0 has this feature built in without going into the settings.

Interesting. I bought it too and it does not work for me. Stock 5.0.1 too. I can turn the volume down but once it's down I can't turn it back up unless I uninstall.
Plus I kinda like the priority all etc on the stock volume bar.
Would be awesome if one of the devs could make a flash-able or pushable expanded volume bar though that looks like the stock one, but just extend it out so it had all the volume sliders. Would donate for that for sure!
@kdoggy
I'm really not for sure what you are saying so I did a screen recording of what it the app does on my phone. Here is the link.

You can do what you're asking without the app: Settings --> Sound & notification will allow you to max the alarm volume and lower it for everything else.
As far as how to use Noyze, first make sure that you open the app and turn it on, as well as allow it in accessibility. This video can explain the app usage to you better: http://lifehacker.com/noyze-customizes-everything-about-your-androids-volume-1637604843

built-in permission manager?

Hi all,
So I was testing the GN5 and came across a built-in permission manager first thing. Didn't think much of it I mean yes it's a very nice feature and all but then after I had to return the phone, I looked for other references to it online but couldn't find any. It's not available on the Galaxy A8 that's for sure.
So I'm just looking for confirmation that it does indeed exist on every other GN5 out there..

He probably came across a test phone of some sort - with Android 6.0
Android definitely needs something like this...
I hate downloading apps that need random permissions for things (Like a photo editor that needs to read my SMS messages) - It creeps me out and is just weird. I'm sure some permissions are innocent and others are malicious.
This feature will definitely help Android!
fail..... of all the screenshots I took I forgot to take one of the build info. is there anywhere on google that might store that? I already checked Play store.. that only remembers my model number.
on my GN5 it was built in. I was setting it up from scratch, installing new apps etc.

yup I was surprised to see it. I'll see if I can clarify with my PR contact...
I've got Android M on my Nexus 6 and that was pretty buggy. Samsung would've needed a miracle to put their touchwiz on it and maintain such stability at this time so that's highly unlikely.
I am pretty sure that ROM wasn't a 6.0 test rom, but just something Samsung cooked into the Chinese (and HK) ROM... already seen it in some Chinese N9200 before... Could be something unique to said variant, or could be something that can be triggered by change of build file...

Help needed - App Testing [Easy DND]

Hi guys
I made this app which is currently in Beta. I've had a lot of downloads and I received two emails recently, one to say the app does not work on the S8, and the other to say the app does not work on the Note 8. So I tested my app on the Samsung Remote Test Lab and it seems to be working fine on the S8. I am wondering about the Note 8, as I wasn't able to test Pie on it.
I then thought of asking the S8 and Note 8 forums for help. If you are on Android Pie, could you please try the app and let me know if it does what it is supposed to?

The Playstore link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.strangerweather.easydnd
Needless to say it's a free app. If you could post your findings in this thread I would be very grateful! Cheers!

Hey so, I'm on a note 8 running pie and ive got some information regarding the application.
If you turn DND On
Select Priority Only mode
Enable messages and alarms
(And then check the permissions through Samsung settings)
Everything is fine so far.
But if you then go into priority settings and change anything
It will disregard what you previously selected (in this case messages and alarms)
I will screen record and post it here if you would like.
