Battery Exclamation Mark? Cannot boot normally - Nokia 2.1 Questions & Answers

Hi there, i need some basic guidance before i take any purchasing decision.
A few weeks ago a Nokia 2.1 (TA-1035 DS) got sea wet. Inmediately i shake it and went back home to open it and detach battery at least since powering it off wasn't possible. After leaving it on rice for 24 hrs and givin it an imediate blow air to dry it off i managed my self to dry most parts and extract any sulfat i could notice. After leaving it again 24 hours i connected it to its charger and noticed and exclamation mark of the battery which claims the battery is not approved.
I could test the voltage at the very moment it got we and it was 3.75v and it keep that way. I left it 4 hourse charging but if i enter recovery mode and detach the usb cable it powers off. I didn't noticed any damaged component but I can only access recovery or fastboot but since i don't have a custom recovery and it doesnt have unlocked bootloader so im a little stuck here.
Please any guidance how to recover it before i purchase a new battery if there is something to do of course.
Thanks!
BTW: data is not important i would love to flash it with a new ROM with more speed and stability.

Well a few minutes ago i thought of unpluging the battery conector once again...and waila...the phone started charging. I will leave it charging and after that i will post the results.

battery broke my flash procedure??

Hello folks, this is my verry verry first post so sorry if its not conform the rules
a few weeks ago my phone fell on the floor, and the battery acts weird.
It shuts off after i call 3 minutes claiming the battery to be epty, but when i remove the battery and put it back in again, it shows as full.
two days ago i messed up my phone and i thought well i flash it back
(note: i flashed my madonna before and it always went well)
But now, it flashes all the way to 80% or sometimes even 99% and then it shuts off, starting to blink the tricoloured bootscreen on and off.
when i put in the AC charger it stops blinking showing the tricolour screen steady.
ive been searching for ways to flash the phone from SD-Card so i can kepe the AC-Charger connected, but all i can find on the net is a way to backup the old rom to SD-Card and reflash it from that?
But.. i cant access the old rom anymore?
its from the wizard wiki page
I'm seriously thinking i have a rather expensive paper press, please tell me there's ways to fix it using SD-Card?
i cant order a new battery untill 3 weeks from now, which i really cant survive without my companion hehehe
just turn your phone on and flash it with rom again
The problem is your battery doesn't have enough charge and might be going bad. It will charge on the wall charger even though the tricolor screen is showing, but I believe it charges slowly. Try letting it charge overnight.
I had a similar problem and now my phone is fine.
You can order a new battery for under $10 from ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cingular-HTC-81...ryZ15034QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
same problem
I have the same problem. Loaded the battery for a whole night, but still it stops at 80% or so....
My battery had huge powerdrain, especcially using bluetooth, before flashing.
I orderded a new one, still waiting. I'll let know if it soves the problem.
If there are any onther experiences i'll be happy to read.
well, so far no luck.
sopme say, the printplate broke, (the greenish thingy with all the odd meganics on them?)
other say there's a transistor mallfunctioning, and some others even dare say its nokia's fault (dont ask me why!) for now, i simply believe im stuck with a rather expensive paperweight
even tho i tried charging it for 3 days nonstop, put the battery in the fridge, nothing worked, i guess ill mail T-Mobile seeing as how im due to prolong my contract, amybe they can do me a favor instead of making me wait a few more months
how to reecharge battery
1. get a hold of a USB cable for the computer(one that you dont usually use)
2. (not connected to the computer) you would need to cut off the end that plugs in you phone and then you will see 4 different wires. you will only be using the red and black wire so just strip those two.
3. take the battery off the phone, plug you phone to the wall charger w/out the battery, and connect the USB wire to you computer(make sure the red and black wires are not touching)
4. touch the red and black wires to the positive and negative end of the battery(the battery has labels of which one is the positive and negative part)
5. hold it there for 10 secs then quickly transfer the battery into the phone. after 3 secs of being in the phone, it should start right up.
this steps also depends on how long your battery has been dead. the maximum time you would do this is 3 times. after that and still not working, thats a confirmation of your battery being a done.

CPU busted.Note dead.Nothing more

Hello guys,
Here's the deal.
I was running SlimBean weekly 6.9 with NX-kernel 1.3.9. Charging current was modified(increased) to 850 mA.
Yesterday, the phone had got a little wet in the rains(horrible rains in Mumbai, they last just long enough to soak you completely and then go away), so I removed the battery and let the phone dry for half an hour (such less time because there was no moisture beneath the battery surface).
Today, I was playing videos on MX Player when the battery hit 1% and the phone was put on charging. 45 min later, the phone was unresponsive and was in a switched off state. No normal boot, no recovery mode and it showed battery too low for download mode.
So here's what I'm doing right now:
1.)Remove SIM and micro-sd.
2.)Charge via USB via PC.
3.)Flash stock ROM via PC Odin.
Does anybody have any suggestions or better ideas on what I should do ? Anything I should look out for ? Any way to check if the phone was damaged by the rain or charging current or both ?
All answers are welcome & thanks for taking the time to read this
Update: Phone is still showing low battery, it has been nearly an hour...

Try a new or different battery also if you can open open the phone to check for any signs of moisture on motherboard.
Need new battery. My battery can maintain power for 10hrs then suddenly in a morning it dead. Power on back only able to last to samsung screen. Power on the phone while charging also end up at samsung logo. Tried with friend note's battery, can boot up normally. So doesn't matter even you just change new battery & now your phone is dead first thing to try is new battery
I'm sick of this.I'm sending it in for servicing. Thanks everyone for their help
Update: Issue fixed. My phone's CPU is busted.I've reported this thread for closing.

Phone won't charge turn on . No recovery No splash No download

So my phone is flashed with cool rom running NXT kernel , it had been running fine for the last few weeks. Yesterday the battery ran out so I put it on charge for a bit and rebooted it hanged at the boot animation. Left it to charge some more but it only displays the grey empty battery. I know it's detecting the charger because when I unplug it stops cycling the battery graphic. I can't get into recovery and if I try getting into download whilst plugged in it says battery too low.
I figure the charge board is dead? I have ordered a desktop charger and another battery to charge externally with the hope of returning to stock and sending back to Samsung . I have 10 days before its a year old so a bit of a race against time. The phone had been fine til the last OTA update in the uk which made it really sluggish this is the only reason I had changed the rom. Any help over advice will be gratefully taken on board.
wait for the new battery or borrow from a friend who own the same phone
So my phone turned on today and is working normal. Going to see how it lasts today but probably return to stock this evening and return.

moto X battery stuck at 10% charge

Hello,
My moto X, purchased about a month ago now does not charge beyond 10% (see attached screenshots)
I'm using the vendor supplied charger and cable,
I've booted the phone into Safe mode and turned on Flight mode and charged the phone for over 6 hours, still no luck.
The charger or the back of the phone doesn't seem to be heating up too much either.
The phone did get a bit damp over a weekend trip, and since then has been behaving this way.
The phone if basically on life support - running off the charger all the time.
If the phone is turned off (while on charge), I get a white screen with the battery icon and a '?' in the center - does this indicate anything?
I'm trying to figure what my options are here - other than sending it back to the vendor.
Thanks and regards,
Joel

Your description of the issue, as well as the "?" in the battery icon suggests a hardware failure to me.
Give it a while longer to completely dry out since you admit that you got it "damp". I imagine that is what led to your issue. You might get a warranty replacement, but the warranty DOES specifically exclude water damage. If they determine that water damage was the cause, it is possible they would deny your claim. Most phones have an indicator inside that will tell them if it has gotten wet.
Good Luck :good: Hopefully it starts working fine after you let it dry completely out for a while longer.

Not charging

I got this phone 2 months ago brand new from ebay.
It had mostly working fine until today.
Battery was around 25%, so I plugged it in for charging. The charging connection kept disconnecting and reconnecting every second. I thought it could be a loose cable, but I checked everything. Eventually it connected, but the phone wasn't charging. I opened the settings and checked under battery, it said something like "connected, but not charging". I tried changing the charger, used 2 different charges but same result.
At this point it was clear the phone wasn't charging no matter what. I checked the USB port for dust, etc and also reset the phone. I also noticed the phone become very very laggy, not registering touch etc. Restarting the phone temporarily fixed lag and touch issues, but the problems came back quickly.
I also connected it to PC, but nothing happened.
Finally the battery has drained, and the phone has been plugged in for a few hours now, but still no charge. It's dead.
What could be the issue? Any suggestions? Seems like a hardware failure?
It's a 2 month old phone and I could be out $300+.
First time I bought a Xiaomi phone, this is a very scary and disappointing experience. I didn't drop the phone, no damage. As I said the phone was 100% fine before.
i just experiencing this issue exactly a week ago, at that point my battery were 7% down to 5% while trying "the fail" and when i plug the charge it says "plugged in, can't charge right now" but after 3 hours or so charging in while the phone was on, it bounce back to 7% and still displaying that message.
after trying to charge while the phone was off for more than 12 hours with no results, i gave up and place silica gel around the charging port for approx. 3 hours or so. and then i do this step.
i don't know what the pin point of the causing factor is and i don't know what step is unnecessary but this is what i do. i place silica gel around the port incase the port detecting moisture and preventing charge from happening, after 3 hour i try charging again using 18w quick charge brick while the phone is fastboot and turning it on. just like that the battery was charging.
after my battery were full i update the software to pie incase this is because of the software update (just like pixel 2 did), give this tutorial video a try*https://youtu.be/F9XNIbpC1yA some ppl able to do it in the first try, some 3x, some 6x, me? i finally achieve that on my 11x. just give it a shot and patience, no need root, ubl, etc etc
the fail. i tried using my friend charger (we have same phone) didn't work. tried using computer usb didn't work. tried using that quick charger brick without that silica gel part, didn't work. tried charging when the phone is off (i waited more than 12+hours) still didn't work.
based on that my conclusion were either there is moisture in the port and the sensor detect it and prevent the battery from charging up or the V9.6.17.0.ODIMIFE november update causing this problem.
again, this is what i do
-place/cover the charging port with silica gel
-wait approx. 3hour or more
-put the phone in fastboot mode
-charge the phone with 18w fast charger while in fastboot mode
-try to turn on the phone
the only post about this issue other than this was some guy in moto x4 thread on reddit, i don't know why there is so little info about this issue.

Thanks for the response. I don't have silica gel but I placed the phone in rice for a few hours and then tried charging, it still won't work.
I can't get into fastboot either because the battery has drained completely by now.
Might have to take it to a mobile repair shop?

spoiler alert, that guy got his replacement phone while we (i assume you too) didn't even have access to official xiaomi service center ?
oh god, i just had it again, second time 10days later after the first one, on the latest pie update.
i'm legit scared ?, pray for my phones ?
but thanks god, the "plug in the charger while the phone on fastboot mode and turning it on"
still works, just like last time. even without the 18w fast charger.
I have the same problem. Battery drain could be the fingerpint sensor issue. The thing is the battery got really depleted and now, it seems the charger program/circuitry is consuming more power than it can charge. I tried several chargers, several usb-c cables, but nothing. Some hours ago the notification light blinked for some seconds and then it appeared as if it was indeed charging, it even showed the charging battery image ( the one without %, the one that appears when you have a really low battery charge ). But it has been hours trying and it doesn't do that anymore and there seems to be no way of making it charge and boot.
This is an appalling situation.
Similar problem, I purchase a Xiaomi Mi A2 by ebay, and passing 30 days (warranty expired) phone dead and never came to turn on, just flashing a white led, but nothing else, somebody has experimenting this problem and steps to revive the phone:crying:
same ****, guys.
I've tried several cables, couple of hard resets and etc. But now I have a pretty brick
I don't know if related but I had similar behavior after I dropped my a2 in the WC, after drying and figuring what prevented it to power on I discovered the USB plug at it's logic board internal connector as the parts preventing it to turn on, some cleaning an drying and my phone comeback.
Then today I observed it didn't charge, and the body warmed, It showed 50% charge, I rebooted and then it didn't turn on again, since I was doing some workout I figured the usb again got wet, I opened cleaned , dried assembly again and then it turned on w/o issue, but then the battery was showing 90% charge not 50% as before rebooting.
Maybe this your situation guys, it you think your phone somehow got wet, and you have no way to claim warranty (or too far from service center) try cleaning and drying the internal USB port connections. (Doit at your own risk).

My beloved Moto Z died in the same manner. I dropped it to the WC and finally died a few hours later. I'm happy now wirh my A2 but i miss the AMOLED screen [emoji24]

I just had the same issue. The phone just randomly cant charge anymore and when I plugged it the battery charge indicator just keep going on and off but without charging. I tried to reset the phone in factory mode but no result, I tried with differents cables but no result. When the phone was plugged it was very very laggy but as soon as I unplugged it everything was coming back to normal.
Now I have run out of battery and my hopes to get my phone back to life are pretty low considering what I read on this topic. If anyone has a solution please tell us!
I would add that I always took care of my Xiaomi Mi A2 (no fall, no water spilled on it, no overheating) and everything was going well until a few hours ago. I didn't installed any new app since like a week ago (from the PlayStore) and I updated to 8.1 maybe a month ago. I thought waiting so long for Android Pie was annoying but this is way worse. If the situation doesn't evolve I will never buy a Xiaomi phone again. Very disappointed
Mi A2 stopped charging
After 2 month of use and Android pie update this stupid device refuses charging. I'm so very disappointed. I can't believe i fell to this Chinese trap. This is the last time I'm purchasing a Xiaomi phone! "Android One phone".... Yeah right!

In my case, after 4 months of use, just after Android pie update, I have stumbled on my MI A2 lite showing problems with USB connection and charging. The phone is not able to stablish a stable connection to the charger or the computer, it just keeps connecting and reconecting, begin charging and stopping charging.... If I leave the phone charging all night, it seems to finally fully charge. I can't figure how this problem may be related to Android Pie update, so I think it is just coincidence, and the usb connector is faulty, though I don't know the cause.... I think I will try to have it replaced
so did you fix the problem OP? i just started expiriencing what i think is the same problem.

if you go to the battery setting and it's says "plugged in, can't charge right now" then you should try plug in the charger while the phone on fastboot mode and turning it on
(read my previous comment) i experience this issue 2times and it's been running smoothly ever after

Hello,
I have something similar, I'm in Switzerland and running the Pie Rom from Nederland. I don't think it's link to Pie, maybe from a security patch because it didn't come at the same time for me, but this is what I got:
-When I plug my phone to a fast charger, I get "charging for a few second, then not charging"
-If I plug my fast charger and reboot the phone, the phone will charge (I need to double check but I guess slowly)
-I have a Audio-Adapter (USB-C, 3.5mm, USB Type C), so if plug the charger to this Adapter, and them plug the phone, the phone is charging fine (slowly).
So to me it looks like an issue with the fast charging...

No I was not able to fix it. I am talking with my credit card coverage and see what they can do.
I got a different phone in the meantime.
I also got rid of all my other Xiaomi products, never going to give this company a cent in the future. They are cheap for a reason !! Limited support and shady parts used in their devices. They can't be using quality internal components with such cheap prices.
Their mibox also randomly die.
Quantity over quality seems to be their mantra
Guys, it happened to me too,
I've flashed from android one Pie rom, to pixel experience.
Pixel Experience is great rom, was working brilliant for couple of days.
Then it stopped to charge. Now phone has discharged to 0% and I can't do anything.
My assumption is that getting new battery in exchange might help me fix the issue.
I've read that once you move to Pixel Experience Pie version form Android One 9.0 you need to flash kernel to. I did not do that.
Now waiting for the battery to arrive and will see what I can do with it.
