Choppy performance..? - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

I'm using the new p30 pro from last 2 days and I'm noticing very choppy performance. For example, on the YouTube app, when you press the full screen icon, you'll see the animation in frames before it enlarges the video.. Some scrolling on chrome browser too, I have noticed a lot of choppy frames. Not sure if I'm missing some performance setting or if everyone else also is noticing this..? I'm on 118 version.

I have 2 P30 Pro and on MI 9 and P30 Pro ist very fast on all time, Apps, Games, Not have single problem. Antutu 321.000 and apps open or YouTube is all fast.

Faulty device or you have a software bug. Try factory reset then if its the same ask for a replacement

I have exactly the same problem. Youtube and chrome too. It come and goes though. Its not persistent. I can not recreate it either.

Just ran the antutu benchmark.. Overall score shows 204452.. Shall I ask for a replacement..? Or try factory reset..?

i also have problems with youtube but antutu is almost 300k. didnt try chrome
EDIT:i put the phone in performance mode(optimiser->battery->performance mode) and now antutu is ~315-320k but the stuttering didnt go away.

Do you think that Facebook or chrome browser requires 300,000 points in AnTuTu for smooth operation? How old are you?

That's none of your business but i'll make and exception and tell you, 21 studying CS. May i ask you what is the point of your questions ?

A comparison of the result in AnTuTu in a flagship with how Facebook or chrome works is at least childish and a few years late Probably from here my question ??

No, from that you realise its the app that is not optimized. At least if the benchmark doesn't lie. And maybe you look at earlier comments, i was not the first one to post antutu score and only posted that to show that its not a faulty unit.

What software version are you on? i read somewhere 113 gets really bad performance.

No in normal mode (default). I'll check on performance mode and let you guys know. People who are saying antutu score of 300k, is it on performance mode only..? Thanks for your help!

This is my antutu without performance mode.

Reason for the stuttering?

Hello everyone.
I have a little theory on scrolling lag on our XZ.
After browsing XDA for a while using Tapatalk 4 Beta, i've noticed something. Scrolling through a long thread only having text is no problem. There is no/barely stuttering. That made me observe the behaviour a while. If there's images, the device starts to break down. Scrolling suddenly gets slow and stuttering because pictures are not loading fast enough. It's not just tapatalk. Hell it's even the play store. I can scroll to the bottom of the front page without every seeing any pictures, they are simply loading too slow (causing the device to lag). I've tried youtube and a few other apps, same case.
This is happening on all roms. No matter what i've tried. Every stock rom (from .350 to .423), every CM / AOSP based rom. The result is always the same. Now why is it that images load so slow? It can't be my internet. I'm on wifi and my internet connection is more than fine as you can tell from the picture :

Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this issue? Or maybe atleast confirm my theory?
I've found some tweaks, i will try them later and see if they do any good (which i doubt, because most of the are bull****).
I'm using PAC Custom 0724
Clock Speeds : 384 - 1512

Class 10 Sandisk SD
Please report if you are experiencing the same, or have any opinion on this matter.
Yeah, I used a HTC one recently and there is no such lag there. So I'd like to know how to fix this too. (the HTC one was at a store)
You can fix it by editing framework.jar and disabling scrolling cache.

There is lot of tutorials here in xda just search for smooth scrolling mod.

Another (well easier & safer) solution could be just add this one line in build.prop:
persist.sys.scrollingcache=4
(1=cache always on // 2=cache on many times // 3=cache off many times // 4=cache always off)
Reboot and wait 4 minutes.

Maybe you wish also add the following lines, after backup the original build.prop:
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
ro.min_pointer_dur=1
Finally, where is written:
debug.composition.type=dyn
You could change it to:
debug.composition.type=gpu (but this last change perhaps isn't ideal for some apps, and maybe it uses more battery than the default "dyn" option).
Keep in mind that a butter experience is a goal very difficult to achieve. I think that one reason why many users prefer some other launchers is that stock launcher is one of the few ones that support Sony advanced (and heavy) widgets. More heavy widgets (I'm sad to admit it) means more lags.
i get scrolling lag in settings lol.
also, if scrolling cache enabled messes with the smoothness of scrolling, why did the manufacturer enable it by default?
my understanding is having cache enabled will consume more RAM, but allows smoother scrolling?
just a bit confused because i have read a lot of different things

Sorry to say that, but I'm restoring the original stock. I've tried many, many mods in build.prop, and although I saw some improvements, they're little ones, so I'll wait for the smoother Android 4.3 and its 1080p full support (with faster redraw and OpenGl ES 3.0).

No Chrome issues here. I used Chrome exclusively today to make sure.
Chrome installed right after i synched Smartphone and Tablet, so im using Chrome since i have the Tablet, and i never had any issues with it. Maybe reinstall?( or are there maybe flash objects supposed to be at that place?)
I have the same issues. I usually will reboot when I start seeing that.

It might be the case that it only occurs on some websites, but the squares move, so it can't simply be the case that it's there should be flash content. I'll try figuring our whether there's a pattern...

I can confirm this problem, does happen on tagesschau.de for example. Maybe it's a problem with the german language version? There is also a bug in the german keyboard layout of the ASUS onscreen keyboard, it does show comma (,) and full stop (.) twice. In the english layout there's a ? and a ! instead. Seems to me that Asus did not do much testing with international versions...

Does it make any difference if you check or uncheck the "show desktop site" box in the settings menu? I would also suggest clearing out chrome's cookies, history, temp files, etc. If that doesn't fix it, clear data and cache for chrome. If that doesn't work, Uninstall and reinstall Chrome.
I've performed a cold reboot for another reason (wakeup delay) I read somewhere else here in the forum, since then the squares did not reappear. Curious if it will remain like this. If not I'll try your suggestions!

I performed the cold boot for the same reason and now I don't remember if I did the boot before or after I tested Chrome for you... So, yeah, could be the cold boot fixed that as well as the wake-up delay (which has NOT come back, by the way.) Thanks again to whomever it was suggested that cold boot - I'm too lazy to go back and find the thread so I can thank the poster properly. I did, however, click the Thanks button.
Hi, I had the same problem but it seems it disappeared with FW update.
I am running 10.26.1.7 now.
But due to incorrect FW pushed OTA by ASUS I had to wipe the device so I can`t be sure. Anyway I have the same apps as before so I think it was FW issue...

After rebooting the TF701 those black squares are gone. To me it looks like a problem with HTML 5 Video or animated GIFs, because at the xda homepage especially showed this issue.

I had these too before the bogus OTA update, which I then had to wipe and not had it since. Seemed to happen on any websites I was on but happened randomly.

Damn, impressed!
Specially considering that amount of browsing time on an AMOLED screen. I think movie playback will be even higher due to AMOLED advantages.
The same was with note 2 on 4.1.1. Great battery life with 7-8h screen time and now with new updates i have 4h screen max with the same apps. So don't be so optimistic.

So true. 4.1.1 gave the best battery life, 4.1.2 a litterateur le bit worse but still very good, but 4.3 is disaster. Battery drains so hard even no wakelock! So I had to rollback to 4.1.2 with my lovely Perseus kernel. Hope a change in Kitkat update.

I saw on reddit, that people recommended some alternatives, but honestly i don't have any idea what are they talking about.
And another thing, when i have active AOD, screen is kinda greenish, on andorid 9 was barely visible, but on 10 is glowing AF, so i had to turn it off.

And another thing, when i have active AOD, screen is kinda greenish, on andorid 9 was barely visible, but on 10 is glowing AF, so i had to turn it off.

There is an alternative in the Recents Menu..
If you press the app icon in the upper left corner for a long time, a menu appears.
Select the popup window and there it is again...[emoji6]
It's moveable and you can resize it to a floating icon.
The only thing that no longer works is to adjust the transparency...

Manz, gotta say it really works great! Battery life got even better and the experience is much smoother.
Only issue I seem to have is, that if I touch near the top end of the screen (near the cameras) , it often misinterprets the touch and starts to slide down the notification bar.... Haven't experienced this before.

Weird feature, makes the top part of the screen useless, can't say the g7 with Android 10 has this bug either... Even though it has a similar cutout...
Might know where to post this on LG support as a bug?

But I said that in my g7 with Android 10 this is not an issue. It works as before, as expected. Not like this joke here. But yeah the g7 has several other bugs...
