Failed to install.. It says I have no file_contexts. I installed Lineage OS 15.1's twrp.

I'm stuck for more than half an hour on boot AEX logo scrolling. I think something is not right. How much more should I wait?
Normally it should take just a couple of minutes for the first time booting. Do you use the special twrp, the one with the sign boot?
if you don't have it just head over to the lineage os thread for 8703 and it's in the main post

I was getting the ERROR 7 and edited the script as suggested above.
I'm installing the Firmware and GApps and clearing cache/Davlik.
Upon rebooting I was asked if I wanted to install SU.
I tried both scenarios.
If I DON'T install SU, the tablet doesn't even boot. It flashes the LENOVO logo for a split second and turns back off.
If I install the SU, it gets stuck on the AEX Logo.
I even left it there for an hour with a powerbank keeping it at 95% battery, just in case.
P.S. I've installed recovery-TWRP-3.1.1-0821-LENOVO_P8(8703F)-CN-wzsx150.img through QFIL.
Do I need to update it with the twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-20180825-bootsign.img ?
If so, how?
With adb command line or QFIL again? If it's the latter, should I tamper the xml files to point to the new img?
twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-20180825-bootsign.img is the special twrp.
flash it as you did with the rom, from the recovery. this new recovery is an image file, so when trying to install you need to select the image option, otherwise you'll not see it.
my advice after flashing it would be to also wipe the rom and reinstall it with the new recovery. At the end of the install you need to use the sign boot option. You can also find this option in the Advanced menu afterwards.
You need to use the sign boot option every time you install a rom or install magisk, for example

As I said to the LineAgeOs thread.....
Note to self and to others.... Wiping is fun but it's not to be overused.
My conclusion is that instead of wiping ONLY what's necessary (Dalvik/System/Cache) I was wiping EVERYTHING, thus deleting (I assume) essential files (drivers???) that every device needs, regardless of recovery type or ROM, to function properly.
Reflashing the Stock Rom and redoing the procedure from the beginning, wiping ONLY what's supposed to be wiped, solved everything.
So folks, DON'T OVER-WIPE :silly:

same for me.. after flashing, i see the animations and a glimpse of set up but it booted back to twrp.
this keep on and on and on..
no instructions on OP whether treble or non treble twrp should we use.
Please put some instructions on your post on how to flash.
anyway, I use treble twrp, wipe all, flash latest dev firmware, rom, gapps, magisk 18.1 & gpu update.
Use the twrp from hardrock ROM thread Havoc 2.2 and try. Try without flash magisk just ROM and gapps
This ROM doesn't boot I tried all types of flashing methods known to man and it just reboots to recovery. Guess its back to the drawing board for this. Did you do any testing before posting thus here?

If the rom.is in testing phase or not tested yet , its really no sense to put on xda..
And also you need to add proper links for repository and also credits.
Let users test first if its boot or not and then make xda thread.You can post test build in previous aosp thread and let users test.

As this is based on the latest LOS sources, it probably does not include the face recognition/face unlock code.. LOS had issues with that on xiaomi devices recently.

Face unlock works normally, you understand wrong.
I follow the introduction. But always reboot to the TWRP after I flash the latest ROM. AEX first build ROM(20190731) and many others ROMs, like RR, AICP are fine.

Flash latest build.
Don't flash fw+vendor since it already contains vendor.
Flash only fw alone.
Format data if still doesnt boot
I found the rom quite likeable, but video recording is broken on the normal snap cam, gcam and anxcam. taking videos in other apps like instagram was fine though. applying hevc fix did not solve the issue.
however, within the day I set it up, the rom began bootlooping and I couldn't fix it, so it was quite frustrating as I had to format data to get it to work again and decided to switch over to aosip.
was running the initial 18/8 build, opengapps and magisk 19.3.

Hello friend! I was experiencing a similar problem on my device with any attempted ROM flash (not specific to this one). I followed Xiaomi's guide to return my device to stock - http://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=1
I encountered problems during flashboot because my desktop has an AMD Ryzen processor - these are known to interfere with flashboot from what I've read. Certain USB 3.0 chipsets can also cause problems. To get around this I used an older laptop with an Intel processor.
I was then able to flash this ROM successfully.

Perhaps because I flashed Magisk before ROM boot? Can't think of anything else, followed instructions precisely.

Have to look into encryption. Zip worked on Viper but having some problems here....

I'll maintain AEX , Viper and crDroid for now. Been very busy building roms for Axon7. But will have some time free to look into the Viper and crDROID again
On my device, AOD seems always set on max brightness...is it the rom bug or just my device??

I'm clearly not properly prepared for this. I flashed the most recent factory android 9 using google's windows batch file. I'm using the latest adb/fastboot as install by Chocolatey

Thanks for the build! Quick question to anyone who tried this ROM: with all other custom ROMs I had the bug that there was a nasty feedback for any caller such that they would hear themselves. Is this also the case for this build? Thanks!

Clean install required cause changed backup tool
In instruction said that i must have stock ROM on both slot.
So what if:
1. Coming from other custom ROM?
2. I don't know what ROM installed on the other slot?

Flash Stock Rom
Flash TWRP
Reboot Recovery
Flash Stock Rom again
Flash TWRP
Reboot Recovery
After this you can follow the Instructions. I hope this helps.

The Rom will always be flashed in the inactive Slot. If you restart in Recovery or System you change automatically the active Slot.
I was looking on the website and it shows a photo for dark ui and black ui. How dark is the "Dark ui" compared to the default android dark mode is it dark Grey or about the same. Thanks

Everything flows very well, games, media ... Just one thing at least for me is not going well ...
When on a call I need to use the dialer to wake up options for automatic answering. Pressed any key, the connection drops, add the operator signal and then go back together with the connection With the internet.
But I still use this great ROM ...

How did you flash the rom? I was coming from Arrow OS, and directly flashing the rom soft bricked my device. Had to follow the unbricking guide, and then try flashing this rom, but keep failing every time.
