Magisk v18 & Vanced YouTube? - Sony Xperia XZ3 Questions & Answers

Anybody successfully running the vanced YouTube magisk module? I'm ready to give it a try but wanted to see if anybody had it working before I install it and risk a boot loop.
On the H8416, if that makes a difference...

How did you root your XZ3? A step by step guide would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the link but do I need to unlock the bootloader? (I don't want to mess up camera among other things)

Yes you need to unlock the boot loader (it's in the instructions). On my firmware (52.0.A.126) the camera works (including denoising) using the camera fix as instructed. I don't know about later firmwares.
If you flash an AOSP ROM the camera will always work, maybe even better than stock.

Is it fully safe to downgrade to firmware 52.0.A.126 and follow your instructions? I really want root access. Thanks

You will lose your DRM keys, so Netflix will be limited to 540p. Camera works just as stock with the fix in my instructions.

I have a couple more questions, if you don't mind, please
1) Installing "liboemcrypto disabler" module will enable HD/FullHD/QHD video quality back into Netflix etc?
2) Do you still receive OTA updates from Sony to the latest firmware?
Thanks

Netflix uses a device whitelist for 1080p and higher based on Netflix ESN (Electronic Serial Number). Your ESN gets wiped when you unlock your boot loader. Liboemcrypto disabler just makes Netflix work at 540p with a rooted device (provided you also use MagiskHide).

You receive OTA updates but you can't install them because the recovery partition (used for 2nd stage OTA) is overwritten by TWRP. So OTA will just attempt to update -> reboot into TWRP -> reboot back into OS -> update failure.

Go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020 Follow the instructions here to the letter and you'll have zero chance of failing the unlock process
A word of caution, most users experience failure due to improper Fastboot driver installation. It's more likely you will have to install the fastboot driver manually. So be sure to install them when your phone connected in ADB mode (or when your PC asks you to).

The above specified method is the official one by LG.
But, for some reason it did not work for me. (i am on ESA-XXX V20A)
So, follow this tutorial..
The same tutorial is explained in an easier (noob-friendly) way here.. :good:
After unlocking bootloader, install CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.3.1.. (.img included in the thread itself)
I have tested it myself and it works flawlessly..
Enjoy! :highfive:

The official method worked for me. Incredibly easy to do.
Anyway, the best way to unlock the bootloader is via Ubuntu or similar Linux OS.
No need to install drivers. You only need the Android SDK.
After all android is unix-based, too..

FAQ
Code:
1. Where are the GAPPS?
- Gapps are already in the factory image, you don't have to worry about that.

3. Is this official release? -
Yes!
4. Do I need to have unlocked bootloader to install this?
- No you dont have to. Thank you fedevd for correcting me.
5. How do I fix system.img missing error? (If this occurs to you)

You will have to do that via your PC since when you flash factory image it puts back stock recovery.

Please help, I can't update android

Hello everyone!
First of all I want to apologize if this question been resolved( I didn't find).
My problem is that I have tencent edition 256/12 with WW firmware version 17.0823.2007.32 and it can't be updated. I know that in my situation it should be possible when downloading update from off web page and manually installing it. But it don't work(
I find video how to change firmware from CN to WW, but none of my PCs don't want see phone properly (in device manager it appear with exclamation mark).
Then I find information about unlocking boot loader, app been installed, couldn't unlock.
Then I read about EOM unlocking in developer settings, and there is no such menu.
After all this I hoping that someone can help me.
Best regards!

There's no OEM unlock for this device under Developer options.
Ensure USB debugging is enabled.
Make sure you install correct drivers installed on your PC.

Try using the Origin sdi tool to download those drivers , search on YouTube for a tutorial on Chris Titus Tech channel (sorry can't post any links)
Agree, sounds like a driver issue as device not being recognised, assuming you have followed all the other steps correctly.

Hello - does the tweaks pro version work with the base s23?
Thank you very much for this Rom. One problem I am encountering is that I cannot install certain apps for example bromite browser apk or ad away apk (this before installing from the Rom). It just reboots every time. I tried it for root type apps and non root types. I am using default file manager to install. I have latest version of rom installed.
