[GUIDE][NOUGAT][OREO][PIE] Increase headphone volume with Mixer_paths.xml - Nokia 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Update: This Method works on Oreo and Pie as well
Good day
First thread here so please go easy on me
This is a small guide on how to increase the headphone volume for Nokia 5 (TA-1053). Might work on other models too...
Things you need:
0. Nokia 5 TA-1053
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Root
3. Third party file manager (Root explorer, ES, etc.)
Phase 1:
> Unlock and root your phone. This helpful thread will guide you:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-5/how-to/root-twrp-nokia-5-t3703423
**You need to downgrade to Nougat to unlock and root the phone
Phase 2: access root filesystem and Mixer_paths
> Open your file manager app
> On ES file explorer, grant root acces on app then go to Home > Local > Device > etc
> FOR ANDROID OREO/PIE: Mixer_path_nd1 is located at root/etc/vendor
> Usually on custom roms like Lineage OS for Qualcomm devices, you can find a single file named Mixer_paths.xml. however on Nokia devies it consists of 20 mixer_paths due to HMD distributing similar software across different models like the Nokia 6 (not sure why but i saw a D1C mixer_path, and D1C is a Nokia 6)
> Now look for a file named "Mixer_paths_nd1.xml" then open it via a text editor
> Scoll down until you see "these are inital mixer settings". Locate these tags:
Rx1 digital volume
Rx2 digital volume
Rx3 digital volume
Default value is 84, so change it so something higher. I set mine to 92
> After changing the mixer path value, save the file (with root access) and exit the app. And restart the phone
> Enjoy the loudness
Phase 3 (optional):
For better audio experience, try installing Viper4Audio 2.7, which can be found here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/viper4android-v2-7-new-ui-profile-management
DONE!

Sound Enhancement *Updated*

Desire HD Sound Enhancement
Okay guys, this is an update from my thread in the 'General section'. New and improved, contains a list of working an Non-working ROMs and more scripts.
What is this you ask? Well have you ever thought your Desire HD's speakers suck balls? Can't hear the ringtone go off? Or just a crappy overall speaker quality? Well try this out and HOPEFULLY you'll actually like them
-> List of working ROMs (My experience)
- All variations of Cyanogen mod 7
- All Sense 2.36 based ROMs
- MDJ's ROMs
- All current MIUI ROMs (after flashing snd3254.zip)
- ARHD 5.x
-> List of NON working ROMs (My experience)
- Incredible S and Desire s Ports (Few Incredible S ports MAY work)
- Tested 2 3.0 ports and both didn't work, feel free to test for yourself
PLEASE Give me feedback on What ROM you are using when reporting issues and let me know if it works on your ROM if it's not posted up here so I can add it
Methods
-> Terminal Method
1. Download Terminal Emulator from the market
2. Open it and enable SuperUser permissions by typing 'su' and pressing enter
3. Then type either command 'snd3254 xx' where xx is a number from the sound table (Below) or 'echo xx|snd3254 -dspmode'
-> Gscript Method
1. Download Gscript from the market
2. Open it and enable and add a new script
3. Then type either command 'snd3254 xx' where xx is a number from the sound table (Below) or 'echo xx|snd3254 -dspmode'
4. Make sure you tick super user permissions
5. Run script
-> How to enable script on startup
Gscript application -> press and hold the script you want on boot -> save to sd -> download a program from the market called 'script manager' -> go to the folder sdcard/gscript -> select the saved script -> open as 'script' -> then tick the boxes 'run as root' and 'run at boot' -> save it and close the app and your selected script will run at boot!
Sound table
'snd3254 -dspmode xx'
01. Original_Phone_Rec
02. Original_Phone_Spk
03. Original_Phone
04. Original_Spk
05. Dolby_a_spk
06. Dolby_a_hp
07. Dolby_v_spk
08. Dolby_v_hp
09. Srs_a_hp
10. Srs _a_spk
11. Srs_v_hp
12. Srs_v_spk
13. Bass Booster
14. Blues
15. Classical
16. Country
17. Jazz
18. Latin
19. New Age
20. Piano
21. Pop
22. R&B
23. Rock
24. Treble Booster
25. Vocal Booster
- Keep in mind the above table is for sense GB Roms and the MIUI and CM set up is slightly different... Basically the same
- hp = Headphones spk = speakers
- 13 - 25 only applies to Headphones
- Replace xx with a number from the table
- If you are on MIUI or cm refer to - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12345725&postcount=2798
Optional
You can create script shortcuts on your homescreen by selecting -> shortcuts -> gscript lite -> then whatever you named your script
Please note that this has nothing to do with the kernel and I am not a Developer myself. I will however talk to Devs and work with them to TRY incorporate this into their ROMs
Let me know if this makes your speakers better in anyway

I'm not sure, although i find options with the 'V' provide better quality
Will have a go at it when I'm off work!

anyone find out which one is better ? i tested most of them and the 07. Dolby_v_spk and
the 02. Original_Phone_Spk is pretty good
should the script include the word: dspmode, or just 2 digi?

This app from the link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055748) does really work for me.
i downloaded the .zip file and moved it to my sdcard, now what do i do? Everytime i put snd3254 -dspmode 08 into my gscript and try running it it says snd3254 not found...
This is exactly how i type it in gscript
snd3254 -dspmode
then i save it, and try to run it, but it will not run... i seriously want my srs enhancement back...
EDIT: i am running the newest MIUI rom for HTC inspire(desire)
Thank you very much this tweak, it is so genius ! The DHD doesn't have a speaker problem it's just this crappy default setting.
Because it took me some time to get it done (i am still new with android), I post some hints. May be it makes it easier for you.
That's the way I did it. My hardware is a rooted (vodafone) branded DHD with standard HTC ROM (1.39).
- For me as a nooby the instructions in the first post seems like there need to be installed something. This scared me some weeks ago and I didn't do anything.
This is not the case ! The attachement is probably only there for other developers. You don't need to install something, everything is already there !
- In order to test the tweak load the app 'Anroid Terminal Emulator'
- Type in 'su' and click enter. In the following pop-up agree to give the terminal emulation superuser rights. (need rooted phone obviously)
- Type 'snd3254 -dspmode'. In the follwing text the dspmodes are shown and you are asked to enter the number you want. Type '04' and click enter. If you have music in the background playing you will notice the huge difference immediately.
- Alternative: Type 'echo 04|snd3254 -dspmode'. But you need to copy it from here or write it somewhere else. As CyberTod (thanks for this useful hint) described in the original thread the onscreen keyboard doesnt have "|" symbol. It does have a similar looking symbol, but it is not the same and it doesnt work if typed on the onscreen keyboard.
If you like the result you can automate the doing either with Gscript or with Tasker as Pleske explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13184812&postcount=99
I automated it with tasker and run it on every reboot automatically (the context is event/system/device boot).
i didnt had the snd3254 file in system/bin
i copied it but i get the message:
cannot open codec aic3254 device -1
any ideas?
Thanx for your work guyz.I tried this method and it worked but not as much as I expected. Then my phone started freezing.I dont know if this has anything to do with it.Wiped fon and downloaded equalizer, a free app on the market and damn that little thing is a devil .The base and the sound enhancement is just great.

Well after creating my last tutorial, much has changed, wonderful new things have come about. So I thought it was time to create a new tutorial covering the new things.
So after now I have read 1000+ of pages and posts, hopeful this will help cut down on your searches. BUT read the whole tutorial before you ask questions. There are fare to many people that ask questions that are usually covered in the OP (Original Post) of threads. Please be respectful of the Developers Time and not ask dumb questions that have the answer posted.
Things you will need before you continue reading:
Ability to understand what you read

A brain
Ability be patient with all of us.

Lastly Understand that Nobody is responsible for what you do to your gear, except you. And using the guide below will void your warranty

Now that is covered lets continue.

Bluetooth Internet Access
Thanks fOmey & sting0387 for the info
Note: Phone Must Have BT Tethering Option. Most USA Users don't have this option.
Note 2: Playstore / Google Account Manager / Google Map s- These will only work if you have native BT tethering. (Third party apps do not offer the same protocols as native BT Tether and therefore don't work.) (Null_17 fixes this issue)
Bluetooth Internet Access:
Option 1) Phone must have BT Tethering Option.
Preparation:
Turn On BT Tethering on your Phone. (System Settings >> Tethering and Hotspots >> Enable Bluetooth Tethering)
Activation:
On the Gear go to Settings>>Bluetooth
Click on the settings for the profile for your phone.
Scroll down and if you have activated the option on your phone and it supports it, you will see an option to activate on the profile on your gear.
Check the box Internet Access
Option 2) Use 3rd party apps (Such as PdaNet+ / PdaNet Tablet) (Must use Network Spoofer)
Preparation:
On your Gear, Install PdaNet Tablet
On your Phone, Install PdaNet+
Activation:
On the Phone open PdaNet+
Check the box next to Activate Bluetooth Service
On the Gear open PdaNet Tablet

Click onTap here to start scanning...
Once you see your phone appear, Click on it
Go back to the first screen of PdaNet Tablet
Click on Connect (it might be hidden at the bottom of the screen, just a small part is showing, but you can still click on it)
On the Attention screen scroll down and click on I trust this application then click on OK
You should now be greeted with a PdaNet is connected! screen.
Open your Gear Browser and you should see it connect to Google home page.
Note: Should Google Play and such not work even though your browser works, DBL check that you have Network Spoofer enabled and using Spoof WIFI.

Watch Styler OR UCCW?
This is a matter of opinion I like to use UCCW as it is more customizable. However if all your looking for is a Watch Face only, then my all means get watch styler. Both would be widgets to add to Nova home screens.
Need so Ideas, check out this thread - Thanks to Kakann for starting the thread
Watch Styler:
How to:
On your Phone, Install Watch Styler through the Gear Manger >> Samsung Store. (You may need to hit accept on your Gear to install it)
On your Phone, Open Watch Styler, select or create a new face.
Apply the selected Watch face
In Gear Manager goto >> Clocks

Click install again (This should install it to your gear)
Note: Now the best thing here to do is create the new widget on your phone first. (Much easier) then transfer it to your Gear. (But you can just make it on your gear if you want to, then there is no need to download it to your phone)
How to:
On your Phone open UCCW.
Select New
Home Screen Grid Size 4x4
Widget Size 4x4
Give it a name.
Select New Skin
Now before you do anything else select Edit objects >> Background >> Dimensions >> Width x Height
Change it to be 320 x 320 (That is the size of the Gear screen)
Now add and customize to what you like.
Once done press Save.
Select Make uzip (for sharing)
Name the Widget
Plug your Phone into the PC
In Wondershare click on your Phone then files
Click on your SDCard, and locate the uccwOutput folder. (you might have 2 SDcards, so check both)
Click on it, then select the Widget you created (.uzip)
Export the file to your computer
.
Connect your Gear to the PC
In Wondershare Select your Gear
Click on your SDCard
Create a folder called uccwOutput
select the new folder
Drag and drop the widget (uzip) file from your PC to Wondershare.
On your Gear open UCCW
Activate the soft buttons
Press and hold the return button (Long press activates the menu button)
Select Open >> Open uzip
Locate the Widget (uzip) you just transferred
Select it and open it.
Press the soft menu button again and select Save >> Save Skin
Note: Not all items in UCCW are compatible with the gear. Things like Weather, Location, Temperature, Forecast, Gmail, Alerts, do not work.
 Installation of Widget.
On your Gear, On Nova desktop press and hold
Select Widgets >> UCCW >> 4X4
Select the New widget you just saved.
Resize to fit desktop if needed.
Note: If you just get a black screen with the words Loading... Then you did not save the Widget correctly.

Make sure your Gear is in USB Debug mode
If you’re using Mac or Linux, You can skip this step. If your using windows, make sure you have installed the Samsung USB Drivers.

Noticed AshtonTS had also posted Mac guide so I am linking to it here incase others need it.

Full System UI? Get back DBL tap settings for quick Volume and Brightness
thanks to fOmey for the info.
If you have installed full system ui, then you might have noticed that a dbl finger dbl tap does not bring up you quick settings anymore. Not current;y there is no way to get that exact view back, as it has been replaced. fOmey has looked into extracting it out, but does not look like i can be done.
But never fear a solution is here.
Option 1)
Put Nova Launcher Prime on your gear so you have access to the Gestures and edit the dbl tap option
Option 2)
Create a shortcut.
What ever option you chose the result will be that same in the end.
How to:
Be sure you have Xposed & GravityBox installed and Activated. (See post #8)
Open up GravityBox
Goto >> Statusbar Tweaks >> QuickSettings Managment >> Statusbar QuickSettings Tiles
Then Select the following
Volume
Ringer Mode
Bluetooth
Brightness
Battery Status
And any other quick options you want.
Now go back to your desktop
press and hold to bring up options
Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
You should now have an Icon on your desktop that when pressed will open up Quick Settings for you.
Note: If you have Nova Prime, and want to use a gesture, just select the gesture and then Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
Note: You can go back into GraveBox and resort the tiles to your liking. (Along with many other options.

]NotiCounter Widget
NotiCounter Widget (Version as of this tutorial is v1.0)
Thanks to st-tps for creating it.
If your using Null_ and tired of not having a notification badge on your screen, this is the answer.
NotiCounter is just as the title suggests. Its a Widget that you can customize and have notification counts show on your gear screen. And it includes custom sounds.
Preparation.
If you have a previous version be sure to uninstall it before installing the new version.
Download NotiCounter Widget from here
Installation
Install NotiCounterWidget
Reboot Your Gear (Must Reboot after install)
Once rebooted go into Gear Settings >> Sound >> Notifications
Select NotiSilent (If it is not in your list, Did you reboot?) This is simply a blank sound file. this needs to be selected to avoid multiple notifications sounds (Note: Skip this step if you Don't plan to use the sound features in Noti.)
Now to avoid the repeated notification that Noti has been granted SU permissions, lets disable that message.
Open Super SU
Press the # next to NotiCouonter Widget
On the Notifications "Global Default" change that to read Disabled. This will stop the notifications from comming on everytime your screen turns on.
Open NotiCounter Widget app
Read the Pop up box.
Wait for SU permissions to kick in and the give the app SU permissions.
.
Play Sound? Check this box if you want to have a sound play when a notification comes in. (Be sure you did step 4 if you select this)
You can leave the sound file at default or Select a different one. (Click on Choose File)
Once you Select Choose File you will be give a list of sounds that have been included with Noti app.
Select any file and you will hear a preview of the sound file.
If you want to use your own personal sound files, go up one directory and the select Notifications folder. (See previous tutorials for adding custom sound files)
Once you have selected your sound file you want, then click Set
.
Custom Sounds? Check this box if you want to have custom sounds play according to the app .
Select Add Apps
You will be presented with a list of all apps that are set to send notifications to your gear.
Select any app you want a custom sound for
Select the sound file just as you could have above.
Once Selected you will see a Toast message box appear at the bottom letting you know it has been set.
Continue to add any other Custom Apps sounds you want to use.
Once your done got back to main Noti Screen.
If you made a mistake on one of the apps, select Edit List
You will be presented with a list of all the apps selected. Press and hold to edit anyone of them
You will have the option to Change, Abort, Delete.
Once done go back to main Noti Screen
.
Launch Notifications app on tap? Just as it says, Do you want to open the notifications screen when taping on the widget?
Text Size - you can change the text size to larger or small according to your needs
Color - This will alow you to change the color of the text using the sliders as needed.
Widget Background (Ellipse, Round, Transparent, Custom)
Custom Background - Selecting this will allow you to have a custom background
Select your background similar to how you selected a sound. when selecting a pic you will see a preview of it for a few seconds.
Blank spot at 0 unread Notifications? Basically do you want to see a number 0 or nothing at all when there are no notifications?
Power-saving Mode? Normal, Medium Saver, Power Saver. - Normal will give your a more stock feel for the Gear (I prefer Normal)
Normal - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall.
Medium Saver - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall. When Notifications hit 0 it stops the checks
Power Saver - Only checks Once upon screen On, then nothing.
Restore all Data - This will remove the sound files that Nofi install. If you want to remove Noti you might want to press this button first.
Now that you have your settings Press Save
Now place the widget like you would any other widget.
you will see two options for your widget. Normal and Bold. that is in reference to the Text number. (I prefer Bold)
Check out your new Noti widget.

For CM12, is it really a must to choose high quality audio and not super high audio when prompted?
EDIT: Btw, its finally working, thanks a lot! Tested on CM12 20150312-nightly with Poweramp. Just make sure you disable the Direct Volume Control under Settings > Audio > Audio Focus in Poweramp and turn off ALL the Equ, Tone, Limit buttons under the EQ.

Thanks for reporting.
High audio quality is adequate. I have all audio files in 320kbps and High quality driver plays them perfectly. You might use Superior Audio driver if you have audio with higher bit rates. But battery consumption will slightly increase.
Working on Xperia SP running Resurrection remix rom (based on 5.1). Much better speaker volumes than came default with rom. However, I had to enable compatibility mode. Anyways, Good Job. Thanks

So, your problem is to set selinux as permissive.
Easy way, if you are on unlocked bootloader, flash tangerine kernel for 5.1.
Wee bit harder way, open terminal emulator, and type the following code:
su
setenforce 0

Oh right. So RR has selinux disabled out of the box. Meaning you need not worry about changing it to permissive because it isn't even there. So, you can just continue with the remaining steps.

All this is covered in this post and most of the problems that you can have are summarized in this post too. Please read this first post before asking. And use the search function of the thread, before asking. Thanks.

Get Into Recovery
1 Press reset button and power button together
2 After about 5 secs release reset button, but keep pressing power button
3 When booting screen appears release power button.
4 It boots into recovery.
--Update 1-- some units without front USB have a different procedure
Firstly power on the unit and then long press the power button and then reset. Then the unit will get three rings and you loose your hand on the power button and short press the power button again. (thanx @netay)
--Update 2-- some others have this procedure (thanx @R4D3N)
1. Turn off the unit by holding 3-4 sec the power button.
2. Hold the RESET button + POWER button for 5 sec
3. Release the RESET button and keep pressing the POWER button for 2 sec
4. Release the POWER button and wait. The Recovery menu appears.
5. With the Volume knob you can move up/down and long press on Volume/Power button to select the option.
Get Into Bootloader
The process is basically the same, with the difference that you need to have the computer attached to the unit via the front miniUSB (if you do not have a front USB, you will have to ask your seller how to get into bootloader mode)
1- boot the unit as usual.
2- plug the front usb of the unit to your computer usb.
3- Then, push the reset button and the power button at once and keep them pushed. The reset button is the tiny pin next to the mp3 sdcard. The power button is the volume knob. You will hear the power cut throught the speakers.
4- Release reset button and keep power button pushed. Now the unit will reboot. You will see nothing, just a black screen. Do not release the power button yet. Your computer will detect a " new hardware", that is the RolckChip. When you hear the windows noise of new detected hardware, you can release power button. It will automatically install the drivers.

HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR SYSTEM
BEFORE UPGRADING YOUR UNIT YOU MUST KNOW
MCU your unit, there are many (KGL, KGL1, KGL2, KGL3, KGL4, KGL5, KLD, KLD1, KLD2, JY, GS, KYD, MD, BN, HA, MX), If you install the wrong MCU, you will brick your unit.
To know which one you have. Go to Settings -->About
If still not clear, see: here or here.
If you cannot find it here, it probably means that you are in the wrong thread.
Resolution of your unit. 800x480 or 1024x600. If you install the wrong ROM, you will brick your unit.
Chip of your unit RK3066 or RK3188. It does not really matter, ROMs and MCU are compatible between chips.
IT IS ADVISABLE TO BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE PLAYING WITH IT
Upgrading is supposed to be a safe operation, but you never know what can happen. So, before updating make sure that:
1- To backup of your system the easiest way is download nandroid root from google play, and do a nandroid backup with TWRP format). Save it in your external SD.
2- make sure you can enter in bootloader mode (see below how to)
3- it is recommended to backup your apps and data (use titanium from google play). The update will do a factory reset.
FOLLOW THIS TO UPGRADE YOUR ROM AND/OR MCU
0- Do a back up (copy the files somewhere safe) of your internal SD card memory. It will be wiped during the process.
1- Download the ROM (Resolution 1024x600 or 800x480) and MCU (KGL, KLD, JY, GS,RM, MX, BN, HA) for your unit.
ROMs--> repository This will get you a file named update.img. There are different "flavors" of ROMs.
Code:
- [user=853627]@coudu[/user] (rooted, stock). Early v4.0 and v4.1 have some problems.
- [user=3590033]@Malaysk[/user] (rooted, with very useful mods, some come with NEXT launcher)
- [user=6041319]@dsa8310[/user] (rooted, almost stock)
MCUs--> Latest MCUs by Malaysk are here . This will get you a file named mcu.img
2- copy the update.img you have chosen to the root of your GPS card.
3- copy the mcu.img for your specific unit to the root of your GPS card (if you do not want to update mcu.img, you can skip this step)
4- insert back the GPS card to the unit. If no window pops up, reboot the unit. At boot, the presence of update.img will be detected and a pop up window will ask you whether you want to update your unit. It will automatically reboot into recovery mode and update your unit. Once done, remove update.img and mcu.img from the root of the gps card or you will be asked every boot for an update.
5- In some Coudu´s (sd partition of 3Gb) and Malaysk´s ROMs versions, it is necessary to do a factory reset just after the first boot so that everything works properly.
6- If you lost buttons or radio after the upgrade --> Go to Factory settings (password 126) and choose the proper canbus for your car and the radio chipset. You can change boot logo if you want.
* If you get Google services error after upgrading to KitKat see this and this

THINGS YOU MAY WONDER BEFORE BUYING A HEADUNIT
Code:
[B]- Boot Up:[/B]: time is around 30s.
[B]- GPS[/B]: GPS positions very fast. TomTom, Navigon, Sygic, and regular off-line GPS work. Navigon and Sygic have some problems with some ROMs
[B]- Stand by mode[/B]: Latest ROMs and MCU have the possibility of choosing stand by mode with various times chosen.
[B]- Radio:[/B] radio stations are saved as frequencies
[B]- Bluetooth contacts:[/B] contacts are saved on the device.
- Works fine with Bose system (Audi)
- Possible ground loop noise that needs some tricks to be removed (see section problems)
- Torque works and can run in parallel with A2DP
- ELM327 works (might need special app like CarService in very weird cases)
- Camera works (might be better to get the one with RK3188 chip)
- There is no automatic brightness control because the unit does not have light sensor, but there are apps that can help
- The touch screen is extremely responsive. It works as good as most phones.

HOW TO ROOT AND INSTALL TWRP
Instructions to get root (thanx to @webdude12)
It only works for Android 4.2.2. If you want to root 4.4.x you need to take apart update.img and inject SuperUser app (this is only for experts as @coudu, @Malaysk, @dsa8310 ). The alternative is to install a 4.4.x pre-rooted image and you do not have to do anything else. See below in HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR UNIT section how to do it.
If you want to root your 4.2.2, download Root Master 2.1.1 here
Code:
1- Install the APK.
2- Make sure you are connected to WiFi and you have an internet connection.
3- Open Root Master (do not upgrade to newer version unless you can read chinese, The newest version has different options, all in chinese. Version 2.1.1 just has a button that says "root".))
4- Press root button
5- Chinese characters will flash across the screen.
6- A second popup box will appear, press the purple button.
The app will automatically install SuperUser.
This program connects to servers oversea sending hardware information. The downloads a script that will attempt to root the device. If the first script fails, it downloads additional ones. Future goal is monitor this communication with a data logger and find which script works, so that a unique program can be written to achieve root.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to install TWRP recovery (thanx to Abdul_pt from Freaktab and 1-2-Hak and coudu)
You do not really need to install TWRP unless you wanna mod the rom yourself, if you mod roms you will know that already.
- a.t.m. you need a mouse to use TWRP because touch is not working yet
- if you install TWRP, you will not be able to update the update.img and mcu.img the way it was explained above.
If you still want to install TWRP:
Android 4.2.2 800x480

TRICKS AND MODDED APPS THAT DO WONDERS
Install app without adb when regular install does not work
Sometimes the app won't install normally and you need to sideload it.. This means that you need a computer and adb wifi. There is another way with which you won't need a computer. You just need to install a terminal emulator (you need root ).
1- Download the terminal emulator app you prefer
2- Download the app you want to install to /mnt/sdcard
3- Open terminal emulator
4- On the terminal navigate to /mnt/sdcard by typing
Code:
- cd /mnt/sdcard
- su
- pm install "NameOfTheApp".apk
Done, you are app is now installed.

PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS FOUND BY THE USERS
Unfortunately the first issues with the promising unit arrived.
@webdude12 got a black screen while driving due to a broken clip (see attachment to figure out which one). One solution is to glue the clip so that it does not get loose. Not doing that can end up in major problems.
Unit might not boot on very hot conditions as it has a thermostate to avoid possible problems. It will work normally when cooled down.
Some apps do not show completely in the screen due to the low resolution.
However, there's a great solutions for that:
- you need root
- install xposed framework (google it)
- probably you need to sideload the apk with ADB as the unit refuses to install it normally.
- install "app settings" module in xposed framework (you can change dpi for individual apps and make them fit in the screen)
When add a google account, it doesn't show under accounts

Wifi or buttons do not work after update to 1.86 or 1.99 firmware versions
- This happens because the MCU or kernel of the new version is not adequate for your unit. Luckily MCUs and kernels are mixable for the same unit.
fix --> Install newest firmware with an older MCU in the usual way. Then install the kernel of a version you know used to work.
To install kernel alone --> Here and files needed here.

Android 10 GCAM Ports

Greetings! I was wondering if there are any working GCAM Ports for the V40 prior to the Android 10 Update without having the need of rooting the device. Thank you and God Bless!
Android 10 GCAM from Fu24
On my T-Mobile V40 I use the GCAM apk from Fu24. The Android 10 version has the "A10" in the file name suffix. Here is the version I'm using:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02-A10.apk
After installation, go to Settings and make these changes:
1) Set HDR+ Parameters to "5". (Higher values produce better pics but slow down processing time).
2) Go to Settings > Mod Settings > Advanced > FIX. Turn on "Buffer Fix".
3) Go to Settings > Mod Settings > Advanced > FIX. Set Viewfinder Format to "JPEG".
4) Go to Settings > Photo > Advanced > Final JPG quality. Set to "100%".
