so very recently I got the Samsung S10e. Unfortunately as I am european it is the Exynos variation (rip me). I actually wouldn't mind the less performance but I immediately noticed that my device gets notably warm/hot with low load. For example upon first boot the device updated a few apps and it already got warm. I installed AnTuTu Benchmark to see what the temps are at. After a samsung patch (around 780 MB) it got to 38 degrees celsius for battery and 63 degrees on CPU.
I also run the 15min stress test from AnTuTu and the temps went up to 39 degrees for the battery and 69 degrees for the cpu. For example my old phone (snapdragon 835) was at 40 degrees on battery and almost stable 38ish degrees for cpu.
Could you run the AnTuTu stress test as well? I would really like to know how other exynos and snapdragon models are performing temperature wise. Thank your for helping.
My snapdragon runs between 29C to 37C when running. 37C is when plugged in to charger. It runs warmer than my note9 did.

Hello,
I just flashed Cronos 1.2 last night, and after overclocking to 1GHz(62vsel), I noticed that my battery felm warm.
This morning the temperature had jumped up to 38C, but is presently at 34C. I used to run around 28C on CM7 and am wondering if these temps are normal? Should I downgrade my O/C to 900MHz?

38C is definitely fine.
When i surf the web using 3G network, it is always 37C+
you can set a tempature profile using setCPU to lower the clock speed if temp. is high
You can edit /system/etc/init.d/10overclock using ROOT Explorer to change the speed to max 900Mhz. Also try to lower the vsel in the 10overclock file, it saves a lot of battery life
Right now, my overclock is set at 1GHz, with a 62 vsel. I have a stable overclock file from FroyoMod 2.6.0, that would save me a lot of battery life and it was clocked at 900MHz, just curious as to what are normal temperatures are, I'm used to sub-30C on normal browsing
I generally try to keep my battery from going any higher than 32 when browsing the 'net, but I did notice that on higher vsels it got hotter. I wouldn't call it dangerous, but remember that the more you're draining the battery, the faster it'll die. I don't mean lose its charge, I mean it just won't hold a charge any more. Lithium Ion batteries are rated for 500 charges, so if you need to charge the phone once a day, you'll be out of a battery in a year and a half.
If it reaches 40+ I would start to worry, though. The difference from 900 MHz at 52 vsel and 1 GHz at 62 vsel doesn't warrant using, in my opinion.
It looks like the spike to 38C was a random spike, because right now it is anywhere from 32-34C, so I think it might have just been one spike that made the phone get really hot!
I also think that the milestone is getting really hot. I think thats kind of annoying
Well right now I have mine at 29, sitting idle with EDGE turned on.
During the day time I've seen it going from 32 to 34.
With HSDPA and Wifi Tether turned on, I've seen it went up to 54.
That is my experience.. and yes 54 is HOT... usually I just turn off tether for a while, until the temp drops to 40+ before I re-tether.
I had my other phone touchscreen spoiled because of the prolonged heat. Bad experience..

What is safe Tegra 3 temperature? I tried SetCPU stability test for 20 minutes at 1.6GHz and System Tuner Pro showed 72C. I'm correct, 80C is bad? I also suppose SetCPU stability test is more aggressive, than games or any other apps.
I user to run v10a firmware which often ran to 80° with no ill effects. I would be concerned if it rose any higher. The phone is built to shut down at 90° so I wouldn't worry too much, it can handle the heat

i had my device shut down twice while running werewolf with no skin throttle. i put the shutdown temp at 80 degs celsius. this happened after an hour of gaming. so yeah, it could probably run even more. i think default nvidia's shutdown temp is 120(!) degs celsius. not sure where i read it though.
I have throttle set to 75 and shutdown to 85. This is more than enough for me.
I wouldn't let my device go anywhere higher than 80C... It might be able to handle more than 80, but I'm not willing to risk it

I saw it from a kernel's changelog (don't remember the kernel's name), it said in the changelog "Tegra 3 default safe temperature : 85 C"
but I wouldn't recommend going above 80 C, it would reduce lifespan of your phone, not even mentioning the battery.Since battery is pretty close to tegra 3 chip, it gets effected by the heat chip generates
The main problem with high temperatures is not the chipset-temperature but the battery shouldn't get too hot. Li-batteries will be destroyed on high temperature. It's around 50 °C.
Did you hear about bloated or exploded phone batteries? This were cases of high temperatures.

Strange thing. Hot in the SoC area (top), not at all where battery is.

Because it is actually the SoC what gets hot. Look at temperatures in Trickster mod (or any similar app).

It's just one thing - Tegra 3 chip is awful. I watched a lot of review of Optimus 4X HD, but not in one was talked about awesome hot, sadly. Though Tegra 5 are looking very nice now with Kepler GPU, but I'm furious on nVidia and when I will buy phone next year, it not will be powered by nVidia chip. I'm crossing fingers on next gen Intel Atom SoC.
Hey guys I live in Mumbai with temperature of around 31 to 33 degrees..now when I first pick up the phone the internal temps show around 36 - 37 degrees..but if I use the phone for about 5- 10 mins. For browsing etc it shoots up to 40 degrees and warm to hold..but if I use gcam or play call of duty it becomes very hot to the touch and internal temps reach 47 to 48 c ....I am not sure if this is normal behaviour or should I ask for replacement? It is my first time with a processor anywhere close to flagship so I'm not sure..I'm on stock India ROM and checking temps with Aida and cpuz thanks in advance..
How are you measuring the soc temps?
I have them here side by side and the Pixel 4 XL gets like 8-9 degrees celsius warmer than the 7 Pro with normal use
The 4 XL is at around 29 degrees celsius when idle (battery temp), and then it gets to 38 degrees celsiuswith normal use
The 7 Pro is at around 26 degrees celsius when idle and then it gets to 31 degrees celsius.
Yesterday I received the 4 XL and apart that it takes the best pictures I've ever seen on a phone, it's a little bit uncomfortable to use because it gets warm when using it normally
And yesterday I was uploading a file through WeTransfer and I got this overheat notification/warning.
The ambien temperature here is like 26 degrees celsius

Had the device since release. Not once have I ever seen an overheat warning. I've charged it whilst using. I've played heavy games.. I run about 26-30c ambient.
If your device is overheating and you get the notification then clearly your device is defected as the device itself should cool itself/throttle down as your temps rise.
Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.

Heat is so minimal when using the phone but have tested video extensively or gaming. Heat is nearly non existent in other tasks. I think it is actually a bit too low when charging. Seems they have the charging throttled to keep the battery temp under 100°F which limits charging speed slower than it cloud be.

My exynos variant have a high temp at idle and load. Soc idle min 42, normal uses 50-58celsius, max soc temp is 68c.
Antutu scores after loop.
1.run 540k
2.run 520k
3. run 460k
My Exynos is cold in idle, cold in web browsing and warm while playing ragnarok mobile
It heat like a hot fry pan. While using phone normally. if i get call. I can't even touch is to my cheek. Sometimes it feel it will burn my skin.
With my Note 9 this heating issue was even more worst. Due to overheat. I wasn't able to use camera more than 10-15 minutes. Camera app keep stopping because of overheat.
Worst phone brand. Even after having so much innovation. Samsung Note series always disappoint me.
The only time I notice any heat build up at all is when it's on a wireless charger. Charging with the 25 watt included charger there's no heat at all.
When using Camera and try all options , different zooms , Device starts heating and gets to an abnormal temperature , this is affects the 5G signal , as it disconnects the 5G recipient automatically and turns to LTE !!
In my testing, the "Exynos" Note20U is not heating up like the previous Galaxies.
My SD version gets a bit warm just from normal tasks. And my battery life is atrocious :/ I really like this device but I may need to contact Samsung about a replacement and see if I got a defective one.
Exynos version at 120hz, a bit over room temperature screen off, warm when in use and hot when taking pictures. My note 10+ and oneplus 7t pro were never this warm. I'm also getting pretty bad battery life.

UHD60 capture definitely gets the transistors in George Foremen mode if you catch my drift.
For mine, heat issue seems exacerbated by being on 5G signal. No heat when on 4G LTE / CDMA Only mode.

Strange. Having used notes since the first, i must say this is the coolest phone ive had. By cool i mean temp - avg cpu is low 30°cs, multiple runs of back to back antutu only got me to 37°c - with performance varience less than 3%.
It didnt heat up much when charging, editing 108mp files, or 4K/60 recording
Of course this is SD 865+ (N986N South Korea), not exynos like my older notes.
But so is yours. Like Jerry Rigs, may be urs has graphite cooling.. I wonder if some phones (like SK version) have the SD chip with copper cooling = which would be the perfect combo...
Note 20 Ultra Exynos990 heat Up so much. I don't understand what samsung is doing with exynos.
Snapdragon HK version here. No heat whatsoever. I am not playing games. The screen sometimes gets just warm when I use extensive tasks (camera, youtube, etc). CPU temperature always below 40C.
UK Exynos990 from official pre-order, so bad in heating and battery life. Warm normal use anything slightly CPU/GPU intensive make the phone as hot as a fry pan.
Note 20 ULTRA 5G 256GB "Exynos" - mine seems cool most of the time. Haven't been able to make it hot even with gaming or using camera.
Seems huge improvement compared with Note 8 in this area.

Wow are your temps still that low? How about when wireless charging? I have the South Korean version too and I hit about 40c when wireless charging, and a lot of times it just sits around 35c when doing normal tasks.
