EE (UK) 5G information released, OP7 Pro 5G also shown for pre-order - OnePlus 7 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

A little more than a month before Vodafone's planned 5G rollout in the UK, EE will be launching its 5G service across six cities in the country. The British wireless carrier announced today that it is switching on its 5G network in several areas including London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Belfast on May 30 with speeds of around 100Mbps to 150Mbps.
Noticeably, most of these cities are the same target locations for Vodafone's 5G network rollout scheduled for July 3. In addition to its upcoming 5G availability, EE also revealed a range of new 4G and 5G plans with Swappable Benefits starting from :
10GB for £54 a month up to 120GB for £74 a month.
The 5G plans include access to the network's BT Sport HD HDR and Gamer’s Data Pass with zero-rated data.
Also, pre-orders open today for EE's 5G smartphone offerings and customers can choose from a variety of devices including the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, LG V50 ThinQ, and OPPO's Reno 5G edition which launched on Swisscom earlier this month. EE also plans to release its new 5GEE WiFi and 5GEE home broadband offerings in the future, though pricing and availability details remain unclear for now.
In addition, EE struck new partnerships to bring 5G experience to consumers including a collaboration with Google to help developers and the Google for Startups Campus in London build new apps that make use of 5G connectivity. It has also teamed up with Niantic as the sole telecom partner in the UK for the launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, an upcoming augmented reality mobile game.
Later this year, EE's 5G service will be available in more areas including Bristol, Coventry, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, and Sheffield. Next year, the firm also plans to release 5G in Aberdeen, Cambridge, Derby, Gloucester, Peterborough, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Worcester, and Wolverhampton.

Presumably a rollout of 3rd July means a release for the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G with a similar date.
What does everyone think to those prices?
What about the speed? 100Mbps to 150Mbps, Megabits per second so divide that by 8 for MBps to make 12.5MBps to 18.75MBps. Not exactly stellar.

Packages start from £59 per month for only 10GB although the option above is shown as the "default"

It's a bit pricey, those speeds can't be right though. I can get 270Mb on 4G already lol.
Thought it'd be like 800Mb

Far too expensive, for what we would get.. thy should bloody improve 4G coverage fist before bangin on 5g xd

Who cares about 5G. With a solid 4G network you can do EVERYTHING. Hell, even with a solid 3G/HSDPA+ connection you should not struggle to have long reload times.

I pre order it yesterday for 54 a month 30gb data and 30 upfront payment for phone. I get multi line discount so that's why it's bit cheaper. But warning EE will SIM lock them

Did you get this deal by calling them up? That's a lot better value than any listed on their website. If I could get this same deal I will definitely order it but £69 a month is too much for me.
I find it hard to believe that they will be sim locked, but my work sim is also on EE so it wouldn't matter for me if it was. I assume we will still be able to unlock bootloader though??
EDIT: Sorry just seen the multi-line part!

I for one am not gointo buy 5g phone in at least couple of years. Just remember when lte/4g came out and it was a battery killer. 4g is fine for now for me and I have 100mbs data (unlimited) and calls and everything. It costs 19.90€..Greetings from Finland

The phone is same as the Pro 4G 8/256 in blue.
EE wont be doing any other variant.

I'd like a list of supported bands other than n77.

Do you think EE will sim lock the OP7 Pro?

They did not lock the 6T but wont know until next week.
As the 5G version is exclusive to EE they might have locked it.

How do you know it doesnt have 12gb? Just wondering if i should of waited before ordering the 12gb model and paid a little more for 5g future proofing
Found the answer for the above. 7 Pro should be limited to 8gb ram just like the s10 5g. That and this. Not sure I care for this first gen 5g modem

Good thing I dont play games on my phone. 4GB was getting to me but was not a huge problem so 8 will be plenty for my personal use.

I really hope they don't sim lock! That'd be really sh!t

[Q] Original Note in USA

I'm seriously considering getting the original/European rather than grab AT&T's version but had a question about whether the LTE would work here since rather than specify a band most spec sheets I've seen just say '4G - LTE *' and the * means 'region specific'. I found a post here or there where people mention being able to get it going with an OS hack of some sort but was hoping for confirmation.
I want the 1.4ghz Exynos processor and the extra band that got cut out for the US version since I plan to visit Europe on occasion. The 1.5ghz one that AT&T crammed in there I've seen reports and benchmarks with it performing worse and having less battery life than the original. Why they changed it I have no clue, but if possible I'd prefer to have the original hardware
You will NEVER get LTE with the International version of the Note N7000..Thats the reason why the AT&T version doesnt use Exynos because its not compadible with LTE..
You will get 4G/H or whatever AT&T likes to call it though.

Interesting, I didn't know that... so HSPA+ or what-not?
So what's this version of the phone then? It's 1.4ghz processor but A9 instead of Exynos (unless I'm missing connections between names), and lists LTE.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note-4135.php - with a release date of 10/2011 I had assumed it was the European (Exynos) version.

i think the Koreon Note has LTE also so maybe thats the one you're referring to..I cant access that web site from work.
I just looked at the website and they are calling it the N7000 model for sure. But, that's weird that they say it has LTE. Do some N7000s have LTE while others don't?
I bought my Note on Ebay and pretty sure it doesn't have LTE. But, ATT doesn't have LTE here.
i believe the korean version is the same as the att version.
Hmm - so where would I look in order to find the model with the Exynos processor, and what would that make the model type - still GT-n7000, or some XX-n7000 version?
the shv-e160l ( thanks for the correction sutekidane) ver is the korean one. unsure if the lte freq is the same that att is using. the n7000 is the euro one. ebay korea might have the 9220.. i havent seen it anywhere as ive been trying to get a pink one... but just my experience as ive owned the att ver and the n7000 and i sold the att one. my 7000 preformed as fast and just was overall not as quirky...

Incorrect.
The Korean version is SHV-E160L or SHV-E160S.
It is packed with the Qualcomm chipset (LTE and NFC) and it uses a micro-SIM. Its exterior is 100% identical to the N7000.
The I9220 is the very early release's model number, then Samsung decided to rename it to the N7000. So the I9220 and N7000 are identical. The I9220 ICS leaks we use are mainly leaked from mainland China, therefore it is heavily Chinese-based. Also, the N7000 is not necessarily the "euro" version, either. It is actually referred as the "international" version as it is sold everywhere including Asia.
How I know? I bought one off eBay for really cheap awhile ago. Then I realised it only takes micro-SIM, so I sold it right away.

The standard GT-N700 has the Exynos in it. The LTE model is packing a qualcomm chip set. What is more important to you? Phone performance or data speed?
You can order from expansys or negri electronics.

I currently have an Epic 4g (slider, not touch), and in the past year and a half of use I've made use of the 4g wi-max less than a dozen times. 3g network + wi-fi has been more than adequate for me, where battery and cpu performance have been a lacking a bit (I love my Epic, but it's not a dual core and the stock battery can barely make it through a day of moderate use).
That is what made me interested in the Exynos from the start, better battery life and actual performance output than the 1.5ghz processor that AT&T put in. LTE would be icing on the cake but is not at the heart of the matter for me - so long as an Exynos phone would work on US carriers for at least 3g network and it sounds like I could get the quasi-4g HSPA+ if I did that route.
Looked on negri and expansys and not having luck finding listings which explicitly state Exynos processor - don't suppose you could sport me a link?

I would argue that the international version is better overall (for me anyway). The Exynos is arguably the better overall chipset vs the Qualcomm. Both use the A9 architecture.
The reason I prefer the international version though is that the development has more momentum because it has been available for longer, and more people have it around the world; it's not as proprietary.

So how can you tell if it's the Exynos or Qualcomm chip? So far the only thing I can think of to check is the speed; if it's 1.4 dual core it's Exynos, anything else is Qualcomm. Most listings I've seen just say 'A9' and that sounds like it could be either one.

You are wrong. (edit: this has already been sorted out).
If you are willing to pay the money for a 4g plan it might make sense to go for the ATT version. You will save a lot of money (400 dollars or so) outright.
If you are satisfied with 3g only, you may be better off with the international version+ straight talk (in the US that is)
I have an N7000 on ATT works fine. Sure no LTE but I usually get 4+Mbps down and I have seen 8Mbps. That's plenty fast for me. So far LTE has been a battery sucker on Android.
Don't be so quick to jump on Straight talk, some people complain about strict terms of service and very low daily data usage. I'm not bad mouthing Straight Talk, just suggesting you read up.
I'm all for cheap plans. If I had to do it over again, I would buy an ATT Note, mod for TMobile and get the Walmart 100min/5GB plan for $30. I'm not much of a phone talker, I use data mostly. I currently use an unlimited Data ATT Sim but having some phone minutes would be nice.

Just bought the international version factory unlocked SM-N920C and...

Hello guys.
I have read almost all XDA forums (almost really!). I was looking (like thousands of people here and there) for a clear information about:
- Which models of Note5 are supporting which LTE bands
- Which models of Note5 have category 9 LTE and which ones are category 6 LTE.
Because, yes, copy paste all around the web ("cat 9 or cat 6 depending on the market") thanks for this information, but which markets are we talking about?
I am just shocked about how confusing all this is. Amazing. Anyway, personally, I was looking for ideally a dual sim supporting LTE band 20 and if possible cat 9 modem.
One month on intense search, I ended with a single SIM SM-920C. I thought that buying it would make things clearer. Baaaa nothing. I still do not know PRECISELY and OFFICIALLY which LTE bands this model supports. I took it anyway because as an international unlocked model, this is the one that is supposed to be widely compatible.
So, guys, I am not a technical guy. But as now I have it on hands, and as I really spent hours and night browsing the web, I am willing to give you all necessary information about it. I bought it in Morocco where it is officially available. But I am note covered by any LTE band. I know that some codes can tell you on which LTE band you currently are, but not being covered at a precise time by a LTE band does not mean that the device is not compatible with this band.
So I am willing, if that helps, to perform any test to let you know what you would like, if someone interested, as I would have loved finding someone with same questions.
Edit: here is the picture of rear box showing that it is not giving any information on the supported LTE band nor if modem is cat 6 or 9.
Edit 2: Samsung Thailand is mentioning all supported bands but no mention if cat 6 or 9:

Indeed... there are only 2 ways... that Samsung clearly update its website with the full (real) specs...
Or a developper here finds a way (through an app or a code or anything else) to clearly identify 100% what are the supported bands, without any more doubt or speculation... But when we think about it, more than a month after its presentation, nothing nowhere... It was more easy to find leaked pictures of the device before it went public than the full specs after it's out! just crazzzyy when we think about it!

tried to do a little research. was your N5's default language Turkish? i keep seeing that it's officially a Turkish model.
anyway, i went through the various User Manuals on the Samsung website which is available in various languages. in several of the available languages (non-carrier models), something was consistent - the N920I, N9208 and N920C were always grouped together (edit: or it could just be that they're all dual-SIM models). though i couldn't find any frequencies support within the manual (quickly scrolled through), i'm only assuming that they all cover the same Bands. however, when i was doing some earlier research before i purchased my N9208, i did notice some variations in the supported Bands between it and the N920I. this was based off the info in the back of my box and the written info of the N920I, online. so of course there's the possible chance of an error on the writer's part.
on my G925P (Sprint carrier), there's a dialer code i can go to that shows me the supported frequencies. but that dialer code doesn't seem to work on neither of our carrier models. i guess the only official way is to possibly contact Samsung.

As mentioned in another thread, according to Samsung South Africa, N920C supports B20. As far as you want to trust Samsung.... and don't ask me why those specs are not on Samsung sites from other countries officially provided with the 920C like UAE etc...
http://www.samsung.com/za/galaxy/note5/specs/
from that site, it looks similar to what the N920I supports - low frequency 800 MHz spectrum for LTE, where my N9208 does not support it. but mine does support both high frequency 2300 and 2500, where that does not.

You have to clearly identify bands you need for where you are and your provider. It is not wise to rely only on the frequency.
B18, B19, B20 are mentioned "800 MHz" because they are "around" this frequency. However, if you look at the precise specifications of those bands you will see you can't use one for the others. If you need B20, then B18 or B19 won't make the job.
As far as I know N920I doesn't support B20.
I imagine sambernet needs bands which are used in Europe, that is: B3, B7 and B20.

tried to do a little research. was your N5's default language Turkish? i keep seeing that it's officially a Turkish model.
anyway, i went through the various User Manuals on the Samsung website which is available in various languages. in several of the available languages (non-carrier models), something was consistent - the N920I, N9208 and N920C were always grouped together (edit: or it could just be that they're all dual-SIM models). though i couldn't find any frequencies support within the manual (quickly scrolled through), i'm only assuming that they all cover the same Bands. however, when i was doing some earlier research before i purchased my N9208, i did notice some variations in the supported Bands between it and the N920I. this was based off the info in the back of my box and the written info of the N920I, online. so of course there's the possible chance of an error on the writer's part.
on my G925P (Sprint carrier), there's a dialer code i can go to that shows me the supported frequencies. but that dialer code doesn't seem to work on neither of our carrier models. i guess the only official way is to possibly contact Samsung.

Default language was french on mine
And no, sm-920c is not a dual sim model. The sm-920cd is. I can try the dialer code you have to check the supported frequencies

This website seems indeed very complete. But unfortunately, SM-N920C is not (yet?) listed.

As mentioned in another thread, according to Samsung South Africa, N920C supports B20. As far as you want to trust Samsung.... and don't ask me why those specs are not on Samsung sites from other countries officially provided with the 920C like UAE etc...

Thanks for this, I think this is the only link from Samsung listing the SM-N920C officially with the supported LTE bands mentioned. But even if we suppose that all the information are correct, still one huge information is missing: is it a category 6 or 9? ... When we put 800 dollars on a device, Samsung needs to understand that this might be important for a client to know if his device will be still up-to-date in 1 or 2 years and category 9 modem gives this guarantee. (even if the 6 is also a top notch today)
I believe this to be the specs for the SM-N9208...
http://www.samsung.com/tw/consumer/mobile-phones/smart-phone/galaxy-note/SM-N9208ZSUBRI
still no mention of LTE Category 6 or 9 that I can notice. based on the following research, even with Category 6, it's good for another couple of years, at least in my market. fastest speeds i've ever tested was about ~130 Mbps on Sprint's dual-aggregation in the San Francisco area (I have service on all 4 major US networks). though, they are expected to follow with their 3x carrier aggregation.
so even with LTE category 9, I think by the time the rest of this phone becomes dated, it would still be ahead if it's time in my market. sort like the whole 4K fiasco. which market are you from? it seems South Korea would be the first to take advantage?

Personally, I am living between Europe and the Middle-East. I totally agree with you, category 6 is fine for the next 2/3 years but category 9 starts to really make sense in more and more markets (France, Qatar, and many other countries are already testing 3 bands in the same time...) In all cases, you know how we are, when we buy a new device, we always want to make sure that it has all latest technologies... by the way, I am impressed by the quality and power of the wifi on the Note 5. It is more powerful than my Macbook Pro Retina !

I really can not trust any seller online... especially on eBay... when most of the time they do not even know what they are talking about... Few weeks ago, I sent an email to an ebay seller asking him about the LTE bands and cat 6 or 9... His reply? All about payment and logistics... yeahh ok all right thanks man of course your only goal is to sell... and when you understand that... you understand everything.....
Official source from Samsung or technical test on the device are the 2 only sources I would trust... (and even Samsung already made many mistakes on their website so... )

i totally understand. i'm the same way with my cameras having the latest of certain features. but for phones, i sort of think of them as disposable after a year or two. haha
what part of the middle east? my gf (international flight attendant) was first assigned in NYC where i first met her, but has since been transferred to Istanbul, and now Riyadh. it'll be about another 2 years before she can come back to NYC [emoji45]. it's actually why i bought her an unlocked international S6 duos for all her traveling. i travel domestically for work, too, and is why i have the N5 duos and all these separate services.

256GB versions on T-mobile

Hey guys, didn't wanna hijack the similar thread re: AT&T but wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience on either the Dual Sim Snapdragon version with 256GB or the Single Sim Emperor Edition with 256GB. I would put model numbers here but I'm kinda confused from the eBay listings I'm seeing that say it could be one of several (in some cases at random! LOL.)
Anyway, just wondering if anyone had positive experiences. Can't quite bring myself to go from an S8+ to a 64GB Note 8, even with the Note 7 upgrade deal, but I MIGHT consider the 256GB one. Still, wondering if I should hold off and wait for the V30 and/or Pixel 2 at this point. First world problems, I know. What can I say, I'm a chronic early adopter!

might as well. I made patches for the European N950F and now Korean N950N models to have T-Mobile Wifi Calling and VoLTE.
I second the seller Kalm_Traveler linked to (I used same seller. Shipping was less than 24H from Korea>Alaska>Tennessee>Missouri and estimated shipping date was a week later, lol)
As someone stuck on AT&T for work requirements (Land Surveyor) I say avoid AT&T, they're asshats about provising their features to non-AT&T devices.
My HTC One (M8) from their main store here in town went from being a boss to a hoss and has never recovered (issue is on their end, they can't "fix" it because nothing is "wrong", and wouldn't ever pass me over to techs who would actually know something...)

Yes, but my patch isn't 100% working yet for wifi calling, when I add it on a fresh stock re-flash it will work until I reboot or open the 'More Settings' menu in the dialer settings... after that the component that switches calls between cell network and wifi breaks but I haven't figured out why (or how to stop it from breaking).

S20 FE 5G - US Unlocked Version Dual-Sim Capable?

So I just picked up my S20 FE 5G today. Super excited - can't stand all these higher end Samsungs with the curved screens. Never thought I'd say it, but I believe in a flat screen - guess that makes me a flat-screener
I was pleasantly surprised to find out the version I purchased from Best Buy was a factory-unlocked SM-G781U1/DS - and in fact, came with a factory dual-sim hybrid tray (1 nano sim + 1 nano sim or microSD).
However, your typical dual-sim controls aren't available within the configuration panel.
Just curious if anyone elsed recieved their unlocked version with the dual-sim designation in the US, and if so, does anyone know a method to enable the dual-sim functionality?
I'm taking a shot in the dark here - seems like Samsung just released a single version of the S20 FE 5G for global markets, however, may of disabled the 2nd sim slot at a software level. Wondering if changing the carrier designation or something could potentially be a workaround (as in changing the CSC or something).
If this thing is truly a dual-sim US market Samsung S20, that's absolutely wild. I'd probably keep this phone forever.

the US unlocked version is not a dual physical SIM version.
Samsung says there is a eSIM in there but in the US, none of the carriers support samsung eSIM yet, which really sucks.

Isn't it kind of odd that they include the dual-sim tray? Like it literally says "SIM 2" on the slot.

It's the same tray they use for other nations/carriers that support eSim and it doubles as an MicroSD card slot.
Did you figure it out if Dual Sim is possible with this variant?
Carefully watching this thread as well, hoping for a dual SIM functionality, and, maybe, some new info on enabling the eSIM (which is CSC-disabled on other S20 phones in US) and using it as one of the SIMs. Not having any high hopes, though. The tray likely got the second SIM marking simply because one injection mold setup is cheaper than multiple ones, and isn't an indication of a hidden feature.
Exynos is dual sim, Snap isn't, always been case i think
Sent from my SM-G780F using Tapatalk
I am curious too, because I got excited that the sim card tray literally says SIM2, I did insert 2 sims and restarted the phone but it still did not enable the 2nd sim. May be it can be enabled in the ROM? or some other settings!
United Kingdom got the phone on an EE contract though it is sim unlocked, 5G version with snapdragon and mine is dual sim.
@ Spooked101 - does your phone have 6 or 8Gb RAM ?
Getting confusing results about what the UK spec is supposed to be.
Thanks

I only had the option of 6GB ram and 128GB storage.
I'm having the same issue. I got mine from B&H photos a few weeks ago, configured it with Google Fi.
But when came back home to Ukraine, surprisedly realized that I can't use my local second SIM.
Now it is to late to return. The only hope is to find a way to enable the second SIM or eSIM support.
AT&T told me that eSim is supported? Does anyone have it working?
Does a factory reset erase any changes made in the service menus? I think I changed back any changes I made regarding the LTE bands in the first post first section but my phone has been getting slower than usual download speeds on LTE.
Sorry wrong thread.
I can confirm that my S20 FE 5G SM-G781B is snapdragon 865 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM and it's dual SIM enabled
I know this is an old thread but the dual sim works when you travel outside the US and put a sim from a different country in the sim 2 slot. Verizon does however support the dual sim in US but one of the sims has to be an eSIM. At lest from what I've read. Going to California soon and I'll go by Mexico and see if I can't get the 2nd sim to work with a sim from Mexico. Unsurprisingly you don't have to be in a different country to use their towers, just by it.

Question Will there be Tab S8 Ultra 5G?

I saw the article (https://www.xda-developers.com/sams...802.349013412.1644453131-153317060.1644453131) and verizon website that they only carry Tab S8+ for 5G.
Any news on Tab S8 Ultra with 5G?
The ordering page, next to wifi, says AT&T and T-Mobile are coming. Apparently, no Verizon. :-(

yeah I saw that too . I'm hoping for unlocked. Any news on that?
If you can buy from here www.expansys.com you can get a unlocked unbranded version.
The model # of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 5G should be SM-X906, whereas the Wi-Fi is SM-X900.
It looks like there is going to be an Ultra with 5G for US. But I assume it would be for either AT&T and T-mobile or both. I see that there is SM-X906U model and it is not yet released just like what Samsung's website says, "AT&T and T-Mobile Coming Soon!" when you select Tab S8 Ultra.

Supported Bands : 5G Bands 28/20/5/8/1/40/41/38/7/78/77, LTE Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/20/25/26/28/32/38/40/41, 3G/HSPA Bands 5/8/3/2/39
For 5G, T-Mobile is using band 71 (600 MHz) for low-band, band 41 (2,500 Mhz) for mid-band, as well as faster mmWave in select downtown areas.
I got the 512gb 5G (16gb ram) from Switzerland
I've been checking the Samsung Shop site, and T-Mobile also. Today I saw that the "Coming Soon" note, as captured above, is now gone for the S8 Ultra 5G. At this time you can order the S8+ 5G from Samsung or from T-Mobile, but only the Wi-Fi version of the S8 Ultra is listed by Samsung (and of course not on T-mobile as they would generally not be selling Wi-Fi devices).
This is disappointing and I hope it's simply a matter of time - but I'm not very optimistic that T-mobile will sign up to carry the Ultra 5G alongside the + 5G, especially after the product-intro excitement has died down.
I think that Samsung was caught unprepared for the level of interest in the S8 Ultra, and this created a backorder delay that is now killing the momentum and the success of the launch. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm now very doubtful that I'll be able to upgrade my T-mobile S7+ to an S8 Ultra.
I ended up just getting the S8+ 5G. Can't wait for the ultea 5G anymore. Worse comes worse if they do release it for Tmobile, I'll sell the s8+.
