Stuck on Widevine L3 on EEA - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Guys, my mi 9 is the Chinese model (8/128gb) with EEA rom. The seller unlocked the bootloader and install the EEA. The problem is that I'm getting widevine l3, not L1. It's possible to get L1 re-locking the bootloader? Or if I relock I'll brick it? Is there someway to get L1?
Thanks

I believe all China Mi 9 doesn't have L1, even with the locked bootloader.

I had L1 before I unlocked my BL, I got a chinese MI9 6/128gb

It is also my belief that only the GLOBAL EEA out-of-the-box model has Widevine L1. There are multiple reports of this.

Looking for same issue please help

So that's it? There's no way to get widevine L1 now?

Because the bootloader will be unlocked, you'll have to root your device & hide your unlocked bootloader from Google Pay, if you just flash Global & not root, it won't work

Okay I'm unlocked and rooted with Magisk and Magisk hide. But Google pay still says this.

How do you flash rom from the China version to the global version?

how to install MIUI betas without unlocking bootloader?

Is this possible?
If yes, how?
Thanks,
If your device shipped with EEA then you can't. Because you're not able to switch from EEA builds to global builds. Iirc you can go from global stable to global dev through updater app with locked BL.

I see. Bought mine from Amazon Italy, doubt it's not EEA. That's unfortunate having to wait 15 days to Unlock BL. Thank you for the info,

Yeah it's definitely EEA then. On the plus side: EEA has Widevine L1.

Widevine l3 to l1 help

Hello Guys, I'm on lv3 now after I rooted my mi9 and flashed the xiaomi.eu Rom.
Ist there any way to watch HD content in Netflix nkw? Can't find a solution so far?
Already hide magisk and tryed top use a patched version.
Wouldn't be a Problem to flash another Rom but would love to keep the bootloader unlocked.
Best Regards
same problem with rooted Revolution OS
also googled for a solution, for the time being I found nothing. it seems common to all L1 devices
Xiaomi.eu ROM = china base = NO WIDEVINE L1
Stop flashing random roms without reading the fine print or looking for problems in the thread
Root-cause of the downgrade to L3 is basically the unlocked bootloader. Can it be tricked somehow on Global stable/beta unlocked bootloader?

I always read the fine print.
Its NOT like you get a low widevine only because of the rom its more likely to the fact that you unlock and root your mobile.
All In wanted to know is If there is a was to change that.

Indian Rom already comes with Widevime L1 so not sure why you have L3. Did you do a clean flash?

Indian rom only has L1 on locked bootloader. OP has a China k20 pro with Indian rom. There's no way to get L1 on a China model right now

Negative ! It's always been L1 on Xiaomi Global Devices on unlocked Bootloaders. See below ! My bootloader is unlocked. Xiaomi doesn't do that ****ery on Global Devices. What you're telling holds true for OnePlus and Asus.

Umm, you are wrong. Indian variant and Indian rom. Unlocked bootloader. Widevine was still L1. But I got bored with it and switched to Android Q. As soon as I flashed xiaomi EU rom, it switched to L3. But, you are right about one thing. To get L1 back, you have to flash the stable and relock. However, as long as you don't flash another rom, you can unlock again and the L1 stays(confirmed by multiple flashing).
My redmi note 7 pro on pixel experience is still L1 intact..... Hence I assume it is same with k20 pro also?

Then it'll work for you . There is no global ROM for Raphael at this moment hence there will be no L1 support for now. OP has a Raphael and flashing the Raphaelin ROM will not magically enable L1 because Raphael doesn't support L1
Prime video is still not streaming with HD even though my device has L1..... It's shows max as 480p......any suggestions

I really do hope, that after release of a global rom in the following days, there will be a divine intervention, that will bring L1 to Chinese variant. It's such a bs... like I understand the lack of bands, but why damn certification??

Question Re-locking bootloader after ColorOS to OxygenOS conversion

Hi guys. Did anyone successfully re-lock the bootloader after flashing? I converted from NE2210 (CN ColorOS) to NE2213 (EU OxygenOS) and would like to keep the stock ROM in order to use those banking apps. Thanks.

I've the same question
Well you can pass Basic level authentication with DenyList and the Universal Safetynet Fix. But you won't get those juicy HD Netflix vids.
On topic though, I'd suggest against relocking the bootloader. Every thread / attempt I've read on this here forum about that has led to a soft or worse a hard brick. Without the MSM, it just isn't worth it to try and "re-stock" our device.

Did you manage to get around the problems with Netflix or banking apps doing the re-locking?
I'm about to buy a chinese 512GB that was converted to global version by the seller, and I don't know if he re-locked the bootloader, and if those kind of apps will work even if it is re-locked.

Yes my banking apps are working fine. Not sure about Netflix as I don't use it but I won't anticipate any problems because I am running the stock ROM now with bootloader re-locked. I believe your 512GB should come with bootloader locked, and even if it isn't, you should be able to flash and relock it by yourself.
Lock bootloader ( if not orginal software to Hardware ) not help to certyfication Google play and HD Netflix.
This same situations OnePlus 10 Ace / 10r
