[SOLVED] OEM unlocking grayed out - Nokia 8 Questions & Answers

Hello there ,

How I managed to fix it , was really dump , to cut it short , I set the date one month back , then went to developers options , hitting the toggle of the developers options (which is blue) so I turn them off , then turn them on again , when I turn them on I notice that I have a 0.25s window that I can hit the toggle of OEM unlocking , and so I did it , then it asked me for my passcode , and went on and downgraded to Oreo , now I'm typing from my phone running Oreo , waiting for the boot unlock key .
Hope you got something of that , I really would like to give back to the community ?
Ps: OEM unlocking is no longer grayed out in Oreo
Ps: even if you hit the toggle in pie it will still be grayed , bit after the passcode and everything , I was able to downgrade easily.

Omg it works... Thankss

Let's read this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-8/how-to/unofficial-official-nokia-8-bootloader-t3898418
You can do it.

Are you sure? I successfully downgraded, but the official had bootloader unlock APK doesn't work for me,
I installed the apk, entered mail I'd,then apk just loading and keeps loading, and after that the error showed like.... "network error"

Can anyone plz tell me how to solve this issue in Nokia 5.1 plus?

works on older versions as well, my nokia 3 something plus was fixed after this.

Grey problem at Nokia 2.1 with android 10... so disgusting! I try everything what find in google. Can't find a way turn that button on.

Hi all,
I have the same problem .
I want to root my razr i (because of several notification ads) but I can't. I can't unlock the bootloader via the motorola web page ("your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking"). So I have to use motofail2go.
Everything is fine until "trigger a bug report"... Nothing happens when I press both power and volume up buttons... So the root doesn't success.
I accepted a few days ago the update 81.5.40002.XT890.Retail.en.EU
Can you help me plz ?
Thanks :good:
My english is not perfect so if I missed something I would be happy to know what :highfive: Is there an option to activate reporting bug ?

They probably patched the root.
Thank you for your answer.
I tried again with motorola website. I put the same key and I didn't get any error message this time, so I was able to unlock the bootloader. And my phone is rooted now with your package. I don't understand why but it's OK now
The bug report still not working but it's not important now :good:
Thanks.:victory:
You can't root 40002 with motofail2go as far as know.
I tried it about one hour and it's definitely not possible to root the 39002 and 40002 without unlocking the BL. No one here in Germany was able to root this Updates without unlocking.
And BTW: If you're locked, DON'T try to downgrade with RSD. You will fail!

Just met a serious problem need help !

its ok, i understand now. but sorry, there's nothing that you can do if your bootloader is locked, and you cant boot up to enable oem unlock. all you can do is try to get a rma.

Like Bruce said you could try going to https://www.google.co.uk/android/devicemanager and removing your Nexus 6, then try to login to your phone again. It is a long shot but it might work.

Sorry my bad, try going to the following link https://security.google.com/settings/security/activity
Select your device and then click on remove. This will remove any link between your account and your device as far as I know.

Bootloader Unlock (Developer Option Bug)

Hi. Today I found a bug in my Nokia 5 allowing me to enable OEM Unlock in the Developer Option Settings. Please note that I am on the new Android Pie with the latest April security patch. So here is what I did:
1. Please enable Developer Option on the Settings menu. If you already did so, skip this.
2. Now, on the Developer Option, you can see the OEM Unlock is greyed out. To toggle the switch on, "you need to disable and re-enable the Developer Option toggle switch at the top of the menu".
3. After then, you can now freely toggle the OEM Unlock switch. You will be prompted then to enter your device password and voila! OEM Unlock is now enable.
4. To switch it off, you just need to do the steps over again.
That's all. I hope this helps. Sorry, I might have posted this in the wrong section cause I am a new member and just wanted to fill my share to you.
Hey there! been lurking xda for ages but your post just made me register! Thanks a lot for sharing mate.
I just downloaded the update and tried this method, worked fine. Btw there's a new security patch as latest update (5/19), didnt bother doing it as they could have patched it probably.
So, i tried flashing twrp and noticed it still wouldn't let me and flashing get_unlock_ability returns 0. Did you manage to get past this?
This actually works. Havent flashed anything yet, as I'm scared of bricking it.
I just love the good old days when I had the Tmobile G2x with the Nvidia chip, flashed the darn thing so many times, even bricked it numerous times, but I was able to go into recovery and reflash it again. That phone was "Flash and Brick Proof"
thanks for sharing, spent countless hours trying to fix with usb driver setups and cmd lines from other tutorials.
question is what's next?
That's a dummy command,
You still need to properly Unlock it, I'm afraid all the options are paid service
Sent from my Xperia 1 using XDA Labs
This thing still works as now it's may 11th 2020.
I'm I ready to unlock bootloader now?

pretty usefull tip bro, it worked on my nokia 6 TA-1000

Mi a2 totally broken ''inside''

lately I was modifying my mi2 to be able to stay in miui 10, but I did a huge crap, which was first for not having taken the firmware update file at the time of the flash in twrp ... later of it he got the bootloader blocked and the twrp in black screen * probably by the state of the bootloader * then I tried to unblock it again, but persisted in the error '' token verify failed, plz reboot you device''ele reboot pro fastboot alone, but it was no good at all, because the mistake was the same .... but I like to do ****, so I went and tried the fastboot oem lock and then it ****ed up with everything .... now I have the system with the message (your system has been destroyed) and the bootloader blocked .... what makes it unusable and without any method of recovery ... the only things that still signal the life and the fastboot ... which is still recognized by the pc, and the edl mode, which enters, but does not work at all since the bootloader is blocked in the 2 steps ... and here I am, asking for help to you ... so, can someone save me from a beautiful spanking? I'm counting on you to save my skin ...
*I'm sorry for my horrible English, I'm Brazilian and it's the fault of that and google translator kkkkkkk*
Bro, i did a huge crap too. I dont know if this will help you but check this thread. Maybe help. i used this tool to unbrick my phone

brother, the problem does not go into edl mode, but the bootloader blocked ... so I can do absolutely nothing, since to have the bootloader unlocked I need the system to be able to recover the system, and I do not care WHAT IS WITHOUT SYSTEM I can not do this ... understand?
but, thanks for trying to help .... well worth it!

General What not to do with China ROM

I recently got the phone and i have the China version 12/256. Here are few things to take care:
1) Install Google Keyboard first before debloating system apps using adb.
2) Very Important: First update the phone to latest firmware (12.0.13) before you toggle the OEM Unlocking option in developer settings. If you dont update first and have the option toggled and try to install an OTA update the phone will just bootloop unless you clear the data and sign in with mi account again. This will reset the 168 hours time in the software. So always update the phone to latest update.
3) If you are using google pay, go to nfc settings and change the wallet from Mi Wallet to HCE Wallet.
4) The stock TPU cover is loose on the sides. I dont know if its just mine. But better buy another case from aliexpress.
5) DO NOT install global stock rom through fastboot or mi flash tool. It just wont work because of the different versions(regional) of phone. Only install xiaomi.eu ROM using the guide from a post on xda because the install script knows which version your phone is and installs the appropriate system files.
@ingbrzy can you confirm that? :

It is safe to install. haven't installed it yet but read on forums that it is working.
so I guess
1) unbox your phone
2)update to latest software via settings.
3)factory reset device after that.
3)request bootloader unlock.
4) after 7 days, unlock your bootloader and tooggle that OEM unlock
5)follow instructions on xiaomiEU rom.
is that safe enough? Lmao
PS:
6) Find EDL support near you

My friend doesn’t matter how long it takes to boot up.....as long as you not in fastboot after restart
It seems to be working fine but I need to go outside and test the 5G and 4G signals are still as good as before
It's definitely feels much lighter and smoother
WhatsApp notifications are working properly
There's much less apps in the drawer, Chinese was very bloated , now there's not a Chinese app or character to be found!
Also banking apps are working fine!

Please post the instruction how u did it. With full info
Just downloaded and install it from a Windows laptop
You have to wait 168 hours to unlock it and then open the phone in Chinese language to get to the developer options again before you flash , you need to enable usb debugging again!!!
You will need wi-fi to get back in because there's a security check after unlock, it maybe in Chinese but you will figure it out
I had never used a Xiaomi phone before this one , there are literally no downsides anymore....
I'll update if I can find something that doesn't work

Can you explain the technical reason and the source of the information when you claim that you must update to 12.0.13 before toggling OEM unlock.
I started my unlock last week and I have 12 hours left. 12.0.13 was not out last week. So, obviously I toggled it before that.
Can you explain why 12.0.13 specifically is required before toggling OEM unlock?

Because my phone went into bootloop. I updated to 12.0.10 and then toggled the OEM Unlocking. While i was waiting for 168 hours, i got 12.0.13 OTA update and i tried installing it. Phone restarted 3-4 times and took me to recovery. I then wiped data and it started again with a factory reset. So iam just warning people to get the latest update before doing this. Also, i do own a POCO F2 Pro and i am quite experienced with flashing ROMS. Developers always ask you to update to latest firmware before flashing as the new ROMs are based on latest firmware.
Xiaomi.eu is not a custom AOSP ROM but just a word of caution.
Sounds like after OTA 12.0.13 phone should be a factory reset it

The toggle is nonsense
I toggled mine on and off a few times yesterday waiting for update 12.0.13 when I was on 12.0.10
It still unlocked like a charm today
