Nokia 7 Plus TA-1062 - Cannot Cast/No device found when trying to cast - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

So as the title says, I can't use the cast/screen mirroring feature in phone. I just cannnot connect to any tv
Whenever I try to cast, it doesn't show any devices at all. Null. and using the button from the notification dropdown, it just searches endlessly.
Some notes:
1. No problem with network. No problem with TV. Other phones work just fine, and doesn't take more than a minute to find device.
2. I tried not only on my TV but on other TV's as well with cast feature. My TV is Hisense smart 39", 39A5605.
3. Already did several restarts, disabled active apps (like adguard), still same.
4. My phone is using the latest PIE update (official update but sideloaded)
5. Already tried connecting on the same WiFi network. Still didn't work. Other devices can connect to the TV without the need to connect on the same wifi network.
6. Already tried turning both mobile data and wifi while scanning. still nothing.
7. Already tried disconnecting current wifi connection (set network to 'forget) but left wifi on while scanning. Still no device found.
8. Already tried installing some apps (like Google Home app and other cast app). Nothing.
9. Already went to developer options and turned on 'Wireless Display Certification', but no additional options show up on my cast screen (like listening mode etc). Just plain nothing.
10. There's no three-dot menu on the cast screen that will show 'enable wireless display.' just a search icon on the top right and nothing more.
I really wanted to find a solution, but can't find a specific fix. I hope somebody here will help. Please. Please I'm desparate.
By the way, I know some will say I should do a factory resetting, but please understand if I say no for now. Because if I do, I'll lose a lot of settings and configuration (system-level and app-level), among other hassle it may incur.

Ok, how do I change wifi settings?

Let's say I pick up the ChromeCast put it into my pocket and take it to a friend's how to show it off. It still has my SSID programmed into it.
How do I reset it, while at his house, so that I can put her SSID into it?
I wonder if the hardware button resets it. I didnt see anything in the manual though.
I ran into this problem yesterday. I think you have to hit that little reset button because I couldn't change it at all.
If you take the Chromecast to a new location, it will display a screen stating that it cannot find the wifi it was originally configured to. At that time, it will broadcast itself as a wifi access point, and you can just run through setup again. ( Try google.com/chromecast/setup )
Alternatively, if you have an android device, you can download the Chromecast app to do some minor configuration. I found this was the easiest method to access the device on the same wifi network, and get details like ip address and so forth. It also looks like it's Google's method to install new apps to the device when they become available.
For a PC:
google.com/chromecast/setup
For Android:
Reset button.
That's all that works for me.

[Q] Note 3 will not connect to Seagate GoFlex Satellite

I have been trying to connect my stock Galaxy Note 3 via wifi to the Seagate Goflex Satellite hard drive, and it immediately disconnects. The Note 3 shows the connection is available, and when it attempts to connect it says Checking Quality of Internet Connection, and then it drops off and says Internet not available. I just downloaded and installed the 1.3.7.001 firmware for the Goflex and no difference. I can connect with a laptop to the same connection, and I also was able to use a Samsung Captivate with Cyanogen Mod 10 installed, no problems making the connection. Is it a problem with the Android 4.3 installed on the Note 3? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am having the same problems, works fine on my Nexus 7 but Note 3 wont keep a connection to it, hope this is resolved fast, I rely on that drive to work flawlessly.
Unable to contact to goflex satellite with note 3
I was able to resolve the issue by reinstalling the goflex media software from the play store. Apparently it must have been a bad install the first time?
Happened again
Today i go to use my goflex satellite with my note 3 and it stopped working again! Ive tried manually restarting the software prior to turning on the drive in case the software needs to be up before attempting a connection. This seems like something going on with the note 3. I will reach out to seagate support. I'll let you know of i hear anything. O the owners in the same situation please do the same so we get attention.
I can access mine just fine using a file explorer. Enter the ip, login and password and I'm in..? Why are you using strange software? I did download some sort of software to access mine remotely and it didn't really work. Could see files but not download them. You should be able to even use the file explorer to access via remote ftp
You were lucky I guess, because I have reinstalled the software app on my Note 3 a few times now, and nothing worked for me.
Solution recommended by Seagate technical support
Hello Everyone,
I've had this exact same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S3 after upgrading Android from 4.1.2 to 4.3
I logged a support ticket with Seagate support. The solution/workaround I was provided is:
1) Access Settings -> Wifi
2) Access the Android menu soft key -> Advanced
3) Uncheck the option "Auto Network Switch"
I have not had a chance to test this suggestion solution as yet, but it does sound promising, although the fine print on the option says this option is auto switching between WiFi and Mobile data, not between WiFi APs.
That said, whilst I was waiting for Seagate support to respond, I found another workaround:
1) Logon to the the GoFlex Satellite from a Windows PC using the browser URL (172.25.0.1/)
2) Enable the Connect to the internet option at the bottom left hand corner of the page
In my case, I connect to my home WiFi AP.
Once connected, I then connect my Galaxy S3 to the GoFlex Satellite's WiFi. For some reason having the passthrough Internet connectivity established first on my Windows PC stopped the switching away from the GoFlex Wifi.
I hope one of these suggested workarounds is of assistance.
Cheers,
Michael

[Q] Connected to WiFi network, but no internet connection [WebOS]

Last night, I found my TouchPad sitting under a pile of papers in my office after a few months of wondering where it was and charged it on the dock. Before this long gap of not using it, it had been working perfectly fine - internet browsing, apps, etc... and the internet definitely worked.
After turning it on, it will connect to my WiFi network without a problem, but when I go to open up a web browser page, it says: "Error: No Internet connection." I also can't get it to load stories in the USA Today app and it won't check email in the email app.
I tried enabling/disabling Airplane Mode and then reset the WiFi settings (gave it a new IP address under the WiFi Preferences menu, like this HP forum post says to do), but it still doesn't want to let me go to websites or anything.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

As you say that you haven't used it for a while I'm wondering if you updated the root certificate.
If you didn't here are instructions on how to :

It won't even let me go into the App Catalog to download the update, actually. When I try to, it says: "You must connect to a network to use this application." After I click "Retry," there is a brief moment where it flashes a screen asking me what country I'm in before it goes right back to the screen telling me to connect to a network.
I don't think this is an issue with my router, since all of my family's phones (a Galaxy Nexus, a Galaxy S3, and two iPhones), two laptops, and a Kindle are all using the network with no problems at all. It seems to me like it must be an internal problem with the way my Touchpad is interacting with the network.
Thanks for the suggestion though! That could be another issue I'll have to fix too (since I don't remember downloading an update to fix that problem, which I hadn't heard about before, though I think I've probably used my Touchpad at some point since July 2013).

How to get Tasker to *actually* connect/disconnect VPN?

I have a problem with my recently purchased Tasker app. I tried posting on the official Tasker forum (https://tasker.helprace.com/s1-general/problems/top) but after I would click submit, nothing would come up. If anyone knows how to get in contact with the developers other than leaving a negative review on the Play Store that would be much appreciated.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 (not rooted) running whatever the latest version OS (Pie I want to say?).
I have a simple Profile setup to Connect to VPN when Wifi is connected, and Disconnect from VPN when Wifi is disconnected (as an Exit task) using the OpenVPN Tasker Plugin.
On rare occasion, everything works as expected.
Unfortunately, the majority of the time, it will indeed recognize the correct state (Wifi Connected), however, it will not connect to the VPN. When I go into Tasker, I see the Profile is green text, and if I go to More>Run Log I can see that it says something to the extent of:
"Active 2 Wifi Connected" then "Start TaskService" then "Running 3 VPN Connect" then "OK 3.1 VPN Connect.com.ffrog8.openVpnTaskerPlugin\n***\n*!" then "ExitOK 3 VPN Connect" then "Stop TaskService" (this is all in reverse order, since I think the run log puts the newest events at the top, but this is how I read them from bottom up).
Tasker even says 1 Task running on the notification bar on my lock screen. However the VPN is not connected. If I go into Tasker, turn off that profile, then turn it on again (via the toggle switch on the right hand side), the VPN will connect as expected and the run log will say the same exact thing.
Likewise for the Exit Task - when I disconnect from the network Tasker seems to recognize the state just fine (evident in Run Log and notification icon in lock screen), however my VPN remains connected (well my guess is it must disconnect for a short period as I transition from Wifi to 4g).
I have tried waiting a while to see if it's just a time issue, but I could wait hours and it will never trigger one way or the other (VPN Connect or VPN Disconnect). I have tried different Wifi networks. The Wifi State Active = "Any". In Android Settings>Apps>Tasker>Battery the toggle for "Allow background activity" is set to on, Optimize Battery Usage is set to off. Likewise for OpenVpn Tasker Plugin.
*Joao or anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks.
Troubleshooting = Because a Piece of Code went
Sorry to say that it looks like I am the 1st reply, as I have no real training in coding or programming myself.
I too recently began to play with such though with the intent to install it on some family member's devices ? However, like you I have not been able to get my desired automation regular enough to share it. When I 1st downloaded Tasker (I think) it had something about a "community" to share & get help with as well as more.
Trying to be helpful I ran a quick search for the specific site & as usual, Google had to go overboard with the results. Still hoping this will help you sooner as they all focus on that particular program:
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/tutorial-using-the-new-auth-system-with-tasker/82423
Just wondering if all the changes to Android OS as a whole may also have an affect on something minor such as whatever we choose to do with "automation" programming? Have seen throughout various post's & news that sort of thing....
for any other poor soul with the same problem, I read a couple of obscure comments on the interweb that the OpenVPN plugin for Tasker is no longer functioning, and all must be run through the Open VPN Connect app (NOT Open VPN for Android app) using intents. I found a guide once, and am testing it now and will report back if it works more reliably. Thank you Lone wolf for your reply.
just to update the poor souls, using intents like I said seems to work more reliably in terms of connecting to VPN. The only problem is if you go out of wifi range, it disconnects, but then are back within wifi range quickly (like somewhere with bad wifi signal), it will not connect again for some reason.

Try connecting the TV on the same wifi as your phone and use xcast from playstore. My LG TV is a bit finicky when it comes to connection so xcast helps. But I do have the certification options on the cast screen. Since, you said you sideloaded Pie, if xcast doesn't work, maybe try resetting the device.

Thanks for the kind response. So I tried x-cast (though it uses a different name in the playstore now). Funny thing is, x-cast says it found the tv, which it did, and says it's connected via DLNA. So the phone can actually detect the tv, but why need x-cast? However, TV doesn't show any signs of connections or response. When I also try to play any video inside x-cast app, it's just stuck in loading. (see screenshot). Did I miss any step here?

This is the screen where the TV usually connects. I am sorry but I can't think of any other troubleshooting steps for now.
last night, I did a factory reset. Didn't do anything go. Just caused me a lot of trouble.
