We have discussion on a Group and This gentleman claimed to have pie on his moto z2 force Indian with security patch of 1 June.

The Indian Motorola Fans confirms upgrade.

I still do not have an update yet. Still on Feb patch. (1789-06) India.

moto z2 force
The upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie began on July 17, 2019 with a staged approach. We expect all device to receive the update by August 19, 2019.

Got it, will post screens later

The update is going to depend on the carrier requesting it. I'm the us, Verizon requested and received the update to pie. Att Sprint and others did not request the update and therefore did not get it. This has been confirmed with conversations with Motorola and att. So thank your carrier prior to blessing Lenovo/Motorola.

There you go

Got the update!!!
Here are some screenshots

So which carrier am I thanking for not getting the update for those of us that bought unlocked phones direct from Motorola?
It's the same kind of BS that those of us that bought S4 Actives got screwed over when Samsung admitted there was issues with that phone without fully taking responsibility, and offered a "one time goodwill replacement", but ONLY if you bought the phone through AT&T. Those of us who bought the phone directly from Samsung? Yep, screwed.

@urbex
Factory unlocked phone? Blame Moto/Lenovo!!

Got the update today. So far looks good and works fine. India (XT1789-06).

Issue with Pie update: Wifi & Silent mode
Hi,
I am facing issue of Wifi disconnection & phone going into silent mode automatically after a while is very disturbing.
Anyone facing these issues? What is the workaround - factory resetting the phone to Pie?

How to unlock bootloader of Indian Moto Z2 Force.? I'm not able to.

Thank you :good:
I just read a piece from Android Authority that the G6 will begin receiving the Orea update on April 30. Following the G6, to be closely followed by the G5 and V20.

Yes i heard that too,hope T-Mobile variant doesn't take much time :fingers-crossed:
it would be nice if that is accurate, but the last i saw LG was going to use their newly formed update center to get the update out to non US phones first with the US phones to follow after that. Given that they gave the same date for the APAC phones, also saying that the US phones would follow later, and that TMO is supposedly already working on oreo for the G6 its anyone's guess......
T-Mobile hasn't released Oreo for V30 yet, while Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon got it. I don't think T-Mobile will start working on the G6 until after the V30 update.

With the G4 and G5 LG was one of the first to update to Lollipop and Marshmallow. I think LG fell from first to last in updates after their phone division was restructured. Now that LG figured things out, I suspect updates will get better. Although I don't think we'll get Android P until Spring 2019.

Guess i will look for another manufacturer for my next device, but that doesn't deny the fact that this G6 is really a great device
LG website shows a new update in the works. It is 11h.
Good news is that it should have a newer security patch.
The bad news, it is not Oreo.

interesting. with oreo being in development, i wonder if tmo will even bother sending this our way....

T-Mobile is usually the last of US carriers to get updates. We'll probably get Oreo about a month after Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T
true, but i can see them using the excuse that they are developing oreo as a reason for not sending it our way
LG Bridge has an update this morning. 2.7 gb. "Enhancements". It appears to just be April 1 security updates.
i can never get that to recognize my phone

Yes, I see that too. Probably means Oreo is further delayed.
i just installed lg bridge to see if it could update, but i get the error "cannot check software, please try again" has anyone seen this and know how to resolve this error?

July patchlevel anyone?

Hello,
I bought a Nokia 8 Sirocco on 1st July. It updates to 8.1 with June patch right after switching it on but I'm still missing the July patch. Has anyone received the July patch OTA in Germany? If yes, which provider are you using? I'm a little bit upset because I thought Android One devices should get August patch these days. Nokia told me it depends on the operator when updates are coming. Is that true? When are updates coming to the device in general?
Best regards,
Norbert
I got August security update a couple of days ago. I live in Norway, but I don't see that my carrier has anything to do with the security updates..
I also could not believe, that security updates are provider related but that's what Nokia support told me. Did you also received the July patch before?
Hi,
I have the august security patch but i`m still on 8.0 ... weird.
I'm still on June patch - getting more and more annoyed every day. If updates are not coming on time this device is completely overpriced and Android One is worth nothing!
Yeah, I got the July patch in the middle of July
Updates coming
Hi,
I have to withdraw my statement about the updates for the Sirocco. Nokia was correct they are provider related! My personal SIM card is from a reseller and uses O2 network (biggest Network in Germany by customer) and today there was still June patch the latest patch available for my device. Then I inserted a SIM card from Telekom (biggest network coverage in Germany) and received July and August patches just after rebooting.
I wasn't expecting that! How can it be? Are security patches still network provider related? I thought this is the big benefit of Treble that updates are provider independent? Updates are coming over WiFi - so why? Now I have to wait for the statement of my provider but I'm not confident about the answer. Maybe I have to change.
Best regards,
Norbert
My Sirocco is from Mediamarkt DE. I have used it with O2 SIM, and sometimes with SIM from Vivacom Bulgraia. Last week have no SIM card in. Today(7th sept.)I received August sec. patch. Android is 8.1 .
Mine is from MediaMarkt DE too (maybe same price deal ). I got a reply from my network reseller (Drillisch) today. They told me that O2 as network provider is responsible for the updates and so they couldn't help. If you search for O2 and Android updates you'll find a lot of entries with the same problem - not only in Germany, but a lot of Nokia devices. This is weird if you keep in mind that Nokia is a very small vendor today. I'm still investigating but if it remains like this I have to switch my provider.
Btw. is VoLTE working with you device?
VoLTE is active. I haven't noticed anything so I guess it's working...
And my Volte is active. But I dont now in depth what is Volte.
VoLTE is just calling on 4G/LTE network. LTE doesn't support phonecalls over GSM and our phones will switch to 3G/2G with GSM when calling.
VoLTE is Voice Over LTE and uses data to transfer voicecall in stead of GSM.
Probably not a 100% correct description, but you get the general idea.
Just checked when calling, and VoLTE is working fine ??
If you see it in the options of your phone settings it should work. My settings have no VoLTE options - this means it's not available in the network. I don't know the situation in other countries but in Germany you won't get VoLTE with low price/prepaid tariffs. Only O2 is activating VoLTE for all SIM's but apparently not for reseller - even though they told the opposite.
Got the August update last week too. Now the Bluetooth volume level is pretty low even though I enabled the "ignore max volume" in the developer options.
I just got September update - with my O2 SIM! :good: Now I'm completely confused! Big surprise for me.
Yesterday i also received the september security patch. I will not install it.

Beacuase Nokia (Hmd) refuses to unlock bootloaders. So if there will be a way to unlock it in the feature it will be based on a security bug (see the nokia 7 plus). But thoese bugs gets fixed with security updates and then you will no longer be able to unlock (again see the nokia 7 plus).

Didn't think that a promise of monthly security update can be something unwanted? I mean that's what draws people to buy Hmd phones no?

Question about updates

Hey XDA, I've got a question about phone software updates that maybe someone could enlighten me on:
What determines when a particular phone will get an update? I guess I'm not entirely clear on how updates are rolled out.
For example: I have a Note 9 that I bought refurbished. It was originally running the AT&T version before I flashed the unlocked firmware. I currently use the note 9 with unlocked firmware (no carrier specific bloat, just samsung and facebook stuff) on the TMobile network.
Since I've started using the phone I've always been about a month or more behind on the latest updates. Currently I am on the December 1st 2018 Security update and I have been patiently waiting for the Pie update. Who/what determines when I will get this update? Is it Tmobile, At&t or samsung
OS Update releases are dependent on when the device manufacturer would release them in what country.
Being unlocked currently, you are waiting with the rest of us to get the update after the other 4 carriers have released it. Right now we are all waiting on TMO, once they have released we should not be far behind.
They do this to make sure there won't be any issues regardless of the carrier you are on. Sucks, I know.

Okay, folks - Motorola does not care about Moto One Zoom anymore

First of all. Three Moto devices already received Android 10. Few of them received December 1st security patch. Moto G7 Plus (2,5 times cheaper device) got Android 10 BETA today.
As an owner of Moto One Zoom who spent 450euros on "top" Moto smartphone, wanted to compare stuff from above to my phone:
- October 1st security patch (received it... three days ago, funny.)
- any signs of Android 10? no.
Plus look at my conversation with Moto Support. The same story was with UK support and polish one.
me: Rafał
Moto Agent: Karen
CONVERSATION:
Karen: Hi, my name is Karen. How may I help you?
Karen: Hello! Welcome to Motorola Canada technical Support!
Rafał: hey Karen
Rafał: first of all: i'm very dissapointed with Motorola
Rafał: I spent 450 euros on moto one zoom which lacks of security updates and OS update
Rafał: currently this is your most expensive model in EU
Karen: I would be glad to assist you today! Just in order to document this conversation, would you be so kind of helping me to confirm your full name, email address, phone number and the country from where you are contacting us?
Rafał: let me explain more...
Rafał: Rafał, [email protected]_HERE, Poland
Karen: I see, did you purchase your phone in Canada or Poland?
Rafał: Poland
Rafał: but it does not matter
Karen: Okay, I would like to inform you that you have contacted now the Canada support, Rafał.
Rafał: your two times cheaper devices are getting regular security updates and few of them already got Android 10 update
Rafał: even 2,5times cheaper moto g7 plus which is 1,5y older than moto one zoom got Android 10 in soak
Rafał: this is not fair
Rafał: where should I expect Android 10 update for my phone?
Rafał: and some newer security patch? (the last one i received this week, was for October 1st - was more than dissapointed)
Rafał: polish and uk support couldn't answer.
Rafał: that's why i'm here
Karen: I would like to explain to you that updates are sent to phones over the air as they become available, there is not a way for us to know the specific launch date. For the most accurate information, I would suggest you to contact your local support.
Rafał: before they "become available" they should be developed, dont you think?
Rafał: why they "become available" for cheaper devices first?
Rafał: and why crucial security updates are not released for your "top" model first?
Karen: Updates are sent out by batches, for Canada, in some cases they are launched by the carriers.
Karen: For the most accurate information, please check again with your local support.
Rafał: so you're telling me that next update for my RETEU moto one zoom is ready and it's waiting for its release?
Rafał: as i said - they dont know literally ANYTHING
Rafał: so how can i get ANY informations?
Karen: My apologies Rafał but we do not have information related to updates from other countries, I can talk only on how they work in Canada.
Rafał: this gonna be the same firmware
Rafał: RETAIL one
Rafał: so when canada should expect Android 10 or security updates?
Rafał: you know, I can prepare link for OTA, sideload it to my phone and install
Does anyone have android 10 on the One Zoom?
No, no one has it!
Hope that in March will get Android 10!
Or so i reed in moto forum.

No problem here with security patches.
PPHS29.59-51-3 with also 1. January security patch arrived in Germany!
Nothing in Romania.
Got it today. Hope next one is android 10.
I Poland, got it yesterday.
What is weird, this is literally the least active device on XDA that I have seen.
Yeah u ar right, and no one bothers to correct the dimension of the display in the description of the phone.
It is a shame seeing a high-end device with such a lame support.
I am waiting for Android 10 update before starting to work on AOSP/LineageOS builds, but I think they will neglect this device.
PPHS29.59-49-8 with March security patch arrived in Brazil.
Got it in Poland today.

6/16 update: More broken promises from Motorola. Not a happy customer. My previous phone was a moto X4 Android One, so I know all about Motorola reneging on OS upgrade guarantees. Honestly, Motorola's misuse of the A1 branding at this point is dishonest verging on fraudulent.
I bought my Zoom exactly two weeks ago, it's a great phone and I love it but they're not going to do me dirty on OS upgrades twice in a row. I just filed a return and refund request. It's within the two-week return window so hopefully I'll get a full refund and take my dollars elsewhere. OnePlus 7t looks nice...
Here in Brazil I received the security patch PPHS29.59-49-16 of July 1st. unfortunately the upgrade to Android 10 has not yet come out and Motorola people say they don't know anything about the update.
Don't think android 10 is likely at this point. I'm probably going to attempt to sell this phone and get the new OnePlus Nord. At least that has guaranteed updates for 2 years. It's a shame, really, it's got good hardware and could've had much more potential, but not many people really know about this phone.
Have a little more patience.
I know the wait is frustrating but the test of Android 10 One Zoom is already in its final phase and will soon be released to everyone. :fingers-crossed:
Wow! That's good news! If it's really true.

Were Unlocked software updates timely?

I know in the past, before the S10, Samsung was pretty terrible about getting software updates to the unlocked versions. Taking several months longer, than the carrier versions.
So how did Samsung do with getting unlocked software updates on the S10? I'm curious to know before I decide which Galaxy S20 I preorder.
I have a Verizon S10 and I was quite pleased with the promptness of the software updates. I'm impressed we even got Android 10.
I was in the beta and my unlocked was a couple of weeks at least behind the beta people with locked phones when the final came out.
Same question here. I was looking at firmware listings on sammobile and it seems that at least for the latest firmware ...CTA3 U1 versions are dated 02-03-2020, whereas for U model only T-Mobile has CTA3 and is dated later 02-09-2020. Would love to hear from someone with unlocked model about their update experience. I've stopped buying unlocked precisely for these update delays, but would love to loose T-Mobile crap and silly 4/5g LTE icons if Samsung has gotten their act together.

I'm running an unlocked S10e on T-Mobile. Got the February security update on 4Feb. Wife's S10e we got directly from T-Mobile, it still hasn't had the Feb update pushed.
While those of us wiih unlocked phones were more than a week behind everyone else getting out of beta on Android 10, we received the February patch before some locked phones. It would be unusual for Samsung to push anything out to the unlocks early but they did on the last patch.
