128 gb, 256 gb and 400 gb SD-Card compatibility - Galaxy Tab 3 Accessories

Hello
Since i want as much memory as possible on my old but beloved Tab 3 (running Nels´ 10.1 ROM) i´m curious what size still works.
128 gb are confirmed as working. Does anyone have bigger cards in theire Tab that work too? I want to put my library of audiobooks on it, also using it for comics via Tachiyomi and want do download everything, so i´m not depending on internet wherever i am.
I realise that the fastest read / write speed will not be supported, but that is not an issue as long as memory itself works.
Greetings Schnoinsch

Sorry to resurrect an old thread! But, I have just flashed last lineage from here on my Tab 3 P5210 10.1 WiFi. Just reporting that I've tried 128GB (no brander), 256GB Transcend V30 and 400GB Samsung V10 rated SD cards and they all work just fine as either internal or media cards for the device!!

[Q] Galaxy S card formatting settings

Hey, I just got an 8 GB microSD card for my Galaxy from my father (he was using it before giving it to me) and, instead of formatting it using the Galaxy, I formatted it in my computer and I am afraid that I might have done something wrong. The problem is that it's transfer rate is painfully slow (about 2 MBps, whereas my old 2 GB card would transfer files at 30 MBps).
Also, after formatting it using the computer, I formatted it again using the Galaxy, but still, the slow transfer rate remains. I don't think this is normal.
So, I want to try to format it again using the computer, but I need to know the exact settings for optimal performance. Quick format, the unit allocation size etc.
Can anybody help me with this?
Ah, I think is useful to mention that I'm currently running Darky's ROM 10.2 RE, with lagfix activated.

What make is it? And class?? The best ones are sandisk hc memory cards with optimum class of 2 or above, you'll find all this info on the memory card itself
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Well on the card, it says
MicroSD HC; there's also a 4 inscribed in a circle.
8 GB
C08G TAIWAN
Kingston
SDC4/8GB
So I guess it's a kingston hc card, but I'm not sure about the class.
SDC4/8GB = SD Class 4 8 GB.
normal transfer for it. Its 2-3 mbps

Trying to find out if I have a bugged mini sd

The original mini SD that came with my OB is a 4gb class 4.
As soon as I had a good amount of files in it (about 2gb) it started corrupting files, faiing to be recognized, causing the OB to crash freeze when I tried to do simple tasks, like going on the SD settings and such.
Now I have been using a 1gb mini SD (no idea wich class) and it has been working brilliantly.
What I want to know is, up to how many gb can I go with a new mini SD, are there any brands that aren't compatible, and in case I don't find or can't aford a class 8 or 10 mini SD, what would be my best course of action?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] App2sd or DT script not necessary with 16 gb ?

Hi all
first I want to thank all "geeks" or "home" or pro devs for helping me since my first Android (nexus one is going to celebrate 2 birthday as my mobile phone)
so I got 2 weeks ago a SGT-P 7310 wich was rooted 2 hours after arrival home (and i installed overcom of course)
Can someone confirm it s not necessary to install DT script to move apps to SD (as I did on my nexus with sdext3 etc)?????
thanks all
haha im also still rocking my N1.
as for a2sd. this is not necessary on the gtab. the nexus needed it because our internal memory (where all apps get saved) is pretty small, meaning it fills up really fast. having a big sd card let you save the apps on the card (via a2sd/a2ext whatever) on the gtab we have only one memory which is the 16gb and its used for everything (media & apps) so there is no need for a2sd because we don't have an sd card and everything gets saved in the same place anyhow.
Yes, and I feel that 16Gb is not very enough storage for me.

its ok. i stream most of my media so i don't need it on the tab. if i go for longer journey, where i cant stream i take along a 16gb pendrive full of media and connect it to the tab via a cheapo usb conection kit.
my tab still has about 8gb of free space so i really don't need more space for what i do with my tab.

[Q] 32GB MicroSD freezes the phone

Hi all!
If i put empty or few files, media scanner go well and after the phone works correctly.
If i put all my songs (10GB) the scanner freezes the phone when it arrives 60% about.
There are ALL mp3 files, nothing more.
I'm on official european v20s (not rooted, flashed with SFT)
What can i do?
have you tried unmounting and mounting sdcard using settings menu?
tried all, i've tested two sandisk microsd hc 16gb and 32 with same settings and files, only 32gb freezes the phone.
reading on web i found many 32 gb microsd issues on android :/

no its not... i am using it from lat 1 year may be your sd card speed is too slow
Ok. i got a 32gb card here. The load takes around 15minutes. Could be due to speed reading problem?
I've been using a 32gb class 4 sandisk card from a year now n 32gb is filled with songs n bids (6k in total)... no problems in reading since I moved to a custom ROM... the slow speed prob was on official lg releases only

Does 'adaptable' storage on the Note 8?

Has anyone tried the 'adaptable' storage hack on the Note 8 yet?
Worked on my S7.
I have the same question
I was thinking about doing this but from what I hear it's more trouble than it's worth but if anyone whose done it would like to chime in I'm sure we'd all greatly appreciate it.

I feel the same way. More trouble than its worth. The 64GB is plenty for all your apps and for everything else you have your fat Micro SD card.
I can't find half a reason to bother with it. 1. Many apps, especially larger one will use SD card for storage, if not you can set it to do so in settings. 2. SD card is slower than internal memory, so frequently used programs shouldn't be there 3. It creates whole lot of problems if SD card goes bad and yes, had this happen to me multiple times on Sandisk included. 4. it can get complicated when you swap the cards between phones, computers etc and you use the phone without dedicated SD card inside 5. If you really think 64GB internal storage doesn't do it, hunt for elusive 128 and 256 GB versions. They should show up somewhere.
The only a reason to do it I can think off: "because I can?"
I wouldn't do it unless the UFS ever comes out. Supposed to be a lot faster external storage.

If anybody does want to enable adoptable storage on the Note8 despite the potential issues, try ashyx's patch here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3460478
Note:
- You will need TWRP installed.
- It might not work for you. I've only tested it with Renovate.
- You will need to use adb to set up your sd card.
You won't do it on an unrooted phone. Samsung never implemented it.
The phone's built in memory is far faster than any SD card at this point. You'd be slowing your phone down... and not by just a little bit.
I beg to differ
Agree the phones internal memory is tops right now.
Disagree the phone will be slow if you offload storage.
Source: i have virtually every app i use daily (Save a couple) moved to SD card and ive noticed NO.. I repeat NO.. noticeable difference in speed or issue by moving these apps. And im talking about WhatsApp, textra, several video playing apps, Instagram, Snapchat, outlook mobile, and some other apps.
There is SOME residual data from these apps that LIVE on the internal storage—perhaps this left over data keeps the app from bottlenecking from the SD card. This is speculation though.
If interested, in mexico, the largest carrier, telcel offers the 128 Gb model
