Popup Camera Dust and Dirt - OPPO Reno Questions & Answers

Hiya,
I picked up the Reno a few days ago and I am wondering how long the popup camera will last given how much dirt and dust it seems to accumulate!
I work in an office and my phone is on my desk or next to me on a chair 90% of the time. It's only in my pocket maybe an hour a day yet somehow whenever I open the popup camera, it's full of dust and dirt which I have to keep cleaning off.
Does anyone else have the same issue? I'm just thinking that if all this dirt is getting in when the phone isn't even in a dirty environment, then eventually some of it will surely get into the mechanism and stop it from working...?
Cheers

I just got a reno, *2nd hand* there was quite a bit of dust in the camera, and i think its causing it to make strange noises, like the motor still goes even after the camera is down

"Scratchy" feel on scroll wheel

It is a bit tricky to wrap words around it, but here goes- Ideally the wheel would scroll uniformly, where every little click feels and sounds the same. But one of the "clicks" in my wheel has sort of a scratchy feel to it, and produces an equally scratchy sound. The wheel performs correctly, so this is nothing more than an aesthetic pet peave. But it would really please me to get rid of this scratchiness. I'm not exactly sure how the wheel works, else I might have a better idea of what could be causing this. Can somebody give me a quick rundown on the physics behind this little bugger? I've tried blasting it with the good ol' canned air to no avail. Anyone???
spin the wheel extensively in both directions and press down at the scratchy points. it will eventually go away.
well...
it happened to me once... just try spinning the wheel both ways and blow on to it few times. I seriously wouldn't recommend using air under high pressure...
muaahhhhh... time to go to sleep..
bye
Yeah I've tried that, continuously rolling the wheel and pushing it in while scrolling etc... All to no avail. I'm sure my kaiser is going to get disassembled sometime in the future, it's inevitable for any device of mine. I guess untill I have a good enough reason to do so, I'll have to live with this little annoyance.
You can always get a can of air..... no seriously i mean it! Air is fantastic.... well its good for breathing at least...
I use them for work all the time (i work on avionic & electronic systems on aircraft as a way to pay for my mobile phones). [no i DIDN'T work on the BA 777 that crashed....]
look at Maplin for example
Absolutely NO guarantee that it'll work, and if its the same point on the wheel - its almost certainly wont! (try counting the "clicks" to see!)
However, they are fantastic for removing dust and other contaminants from sensitive components - also good for drying solvents from electrical contacts.
Should you get one, NEVER EVER - EVER use inverted in any way on a live system, even the "invertible" ones.... they still condense, throw out a wet draft, short the system and turn it into the most expensive blow you've ever had...........

Small drop, autofocus broken

So, my phone slips out of my pocket while I was sitting down today. I pick it up, thinking that that kind of fall can't do damage, but I find that the clicking when I tapped the back no longer happens.
My first thought was to cheer, my second to check the camera app. Sure enough, the autofocus is perpetually stuck at minimum. Anyone experience this before? Is there a possible remedy?
I hardly use the camera, so it isn't critical that it ever works again, but as the saying goes, "The best camera you have is the one with you," and I was kinda getting used to the idea of a reasonable camera quality in such a small size.
Oh, haha, it's all fixed. I realized everything but the lens was solid state, so I tapped it against my table a few times at an angle with cloth on the edge a bit harshly, and a tiny click happened on the third one, dislodging it.

strange niose

Hello
I have my optimus 2x for about 0ne week now.
When I tap the phone with my finger on the backside above the camera or when it slides on the table al little faster (not so fast that it dangerous for the phone) I hear a strange clicking noise from the inside of the phone. Is that normal? probably the gyro-sensor?
Have you the same noise when you do that?
Maybe something inside my phone is broken...
p.s: its definitely no part of the shell, i have made serveral tries while holding varying parts on the outside (Camera, Card-Slot, HDMI,...)
please, can somebody tell me if that noise is normal?
The Answer ist just one tap with your finger away
Very slight click when I tap mine. Wouldn't even notice it if you had not mention it. Can't get it to click any other way. Probably the camera assembly.
Someone posted on here suffering from the same problem. Apparently it's something slightly loose in the camera assembly which is surprisingly common on phones (the Nexus One had a big probably with it apparently).
yes its normal even after you taking a photo with macro or some AF and then go to gallery you can ear the noise because the camera do it. its loose by default.
aahh, ok thank you for your replies, no real problem then...must have missed it the first few days.
good built quality ;-)

Screen Problem

I've bought an Xperia Z3+ two months ago, recently, I've discovered a certain bright spot on its screen, it's particularly available in white and bright backgrounds, it's less noticeable in black backgrounds, and not at all noticeable in non-solid backgrounds.
I know that it's a hardware issue, but the warranty here is a joke, and I don't want to pay for a new screen for such a small issue.
But on the other hand, once I noticed it, it's all I could see in the mobile, and it removes the whole premium feel in it.
I've manually removed the back cover and there's no issue in the battery that would make it press towards the screen and cause such issue.
I was wondering if there's any manual fix for it? I know that it's a light diffusing layer problem, mostly caused by a certain pressure, but is there a way to make it normal again? A certain pressure in an opposite way, or heat, or suction from behind, etc.
Here's a picture that indicates the issue "It's more visible and annoying in real life"
I have the exact same problem at the very same position as you point. My country does not support officially the Z3+ and so the cost is really high. I searched enough on the internet and i think it is where the vibration is but i cannot confirm it. I also see it all the time because i simply know it is right there. At my case, there are other 2 spots but not seen so easy.
I only hope not to get bigger. I wish i knew what caused this so to be carefull (such as sun exposure or something else - although i am REALLY careful as a person with my mobile phones). I cannot help you and i got really dissapointed after my long search on the web so i will have to live with that. It is hardware problem as i really tried everything to find out that.
Hope someone has any solution. It is not only on our phone but to others too. I hope the post won't get lost after some days!

That's so weird, I thought it was caused by an anonymous fall that I wasn't aware of, the other point is barely noticeable but it's at the top left.
Also, my upper speakers started to produce mixed loud and faint sounds when i play something whike the volume is below 25%.
It's winter, and I usually text near heatrrs, which made me think that the speakers problem was caused by the heater and the screen problem was caused by a particular fall.
Since the warranty is useless I've manually disassembled the phone and there's nothing behind that spot of screen except battery, the vibrator is way below the navkeys, there's no screen on the other side of it, which actually seems to prove that our spots are similar by coincidence, because there's no pressure on the other side except for battery, and I highly doubt yours is faulty, because mine isn't.
My z3+ single sim also has the spot at the same place, but it isnt that noticable since i use auto brightness, really weird, i thought because maybe of accidental high press when the phone was in my pocket.Anyway, I'll switch to XZ premium in december, that sh*t is dope
On the top left corner i have too! So it is not a coincidence. Something is there that you couldn't see when you opened it. I only hope it doens't get worse..
I have it too not only there also in the right bottom corner and a line of 1 centimeters like 1 inch bow in the left upper corner one day was not in there and to the other plaff they appear
Sent from my E6533 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Now that multiple people have it, I started to suspect that there's actually something.
I might open if again when I can't live with it anymore, but for now I'll try to enjoy it as it's new, and hopefully won't get worse.
I have a z3 and z4 that also have these white spots..no way to fix. look up tv lcd problems your not gonna be able to fix....it gonna keep me from buying anymore sonys till they switch to oled.
I have the same problem in the same position and it was happen after a warranty repair.... Sony didn't have noticed it....

Question Slight Rattle from Camera array?

Hi all, I just got this phone today, Im loving the camera and I can't wait to go out and get some snaps with it. I have noticed there is a slight rattle from the camera area when placing the phone down on a hard surface or if I lightly tap that camera/top half of the phone. After some googling around some people have said this is normal for these types of phones and that its the stabiliser inside that moves around. If its normal then thats fine with me, I just wanted to ask if anyone can confirm this? Cheers.
Welcome to XDA Enjoy
Probably normal if it has a mechanical stabilizer.
Check its functionality.
yes it is normal
