LTE Band28-700Mhz - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Is possible to enable this band on chinese version? How?

The different radio bands are hardware dependent, so the short answer is, no.

Global version has this band, I'm using it

OP was asking for the Chinese version if you didn't see that. I have the global version too and have all bands but this is rather irrelevant here.

Is not. The hardware is the same on both but is disabled on Snapdragon configurations. Is necessary a tool that can modify the registries on Snapdragon configuration files.

I don't think so... Some antennas missing on Chinese version...! I tried to activate band 20 on my redmi note 5 chinese version.... Got zero results...! Some OEMs can disable it.... But not xiaomi.... They make sure to not include additional hardware...
So... I am sure it won't work....

Xiaomi MI9 China Edition supports Band 20

Hi Guys,
reffering to the below blog the Mi9 China version supports LTE Band 20
https://www.chinamobilemag.de/news/xiaomi-mi-9-china-band-20-lte.html
That would be pretty cool so european users can buy a chinese Explorer Edition or the 8/256 GB China versions too without lacking Band 20 Support.
I have just bought China version one yesterday, hoping to support B20, but surprise me it seems not having B20.
I refer to Mi website itself does not support B20,
China version: https://www.mi.com/mi9/specs/
Global version: https://www.mi.com/global/mi9/specs/
Without a proper screenshot of Network cell info application with band 20 working, i don't trust him.
how we can check this?

Someone with the Chinese device would have to download LTE discovery from the Play Store & see if the mast they connect to supports band 20, & see if they connect to it..

I think you need to change the title, all information we have so far suggests that it doesn't support Band 20, including Xiaomi's official website.
The 2 latest devices from them, Pocophone & Mix 3 both have hardware locked Band's so it seems flashing Global would be useless too.
I think the blog is wrong...

only having the phone in hand (8GB version at this point, since it's the only difference from other users with 6GB and B20 LTE not working) and under B20 only network coverage.

You could try this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.simplyadvanced.ltediscovery
Not sure if your carrier supports Band 20 or not, this is something you'd have to find out from them I believe, or Google.

Try this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
you can use Cellular-Z from Playstore.
it shows the network you are currently connected to at the top and all other networks that your phone detects at the bottom.
you can also switch between both sim cards (slots at the top)
for example in my screenshots it shows that I'm currently using a band 20 network. and there are some others in the area.
both suggested apps are similar but I find cellular z to be more user friendly.
as a side note: I have a Redme note 5 (china) variant that does not have Band 20. the same phone is able to connect to LTE network where I live but it uses a different cell tower B3. you should check your providers cell tower map to see if there are any band 20s in your area.

LTE and network capabilities

Hi,
could someone please test this phone with the app Network Signal Guru?
I need to find out if this phone really supports LTE Cat 20. as the manufacturer says. How many CA is supported? Ideally, I would need B1+B3+B7+B20. This should be fine. And also I need to know on which carriers this phone supports 4x4 MIMO and 4x4 MIMO CA.
Thanks
Nubia red magic 3 global version always mostly supported all networks band don't worry. Go and buy

I don't care about bands. I care about network features which should be supported, but there is no information about it.

I need to know if this phone supports CA (carrier aggregation) between band B1+B3+B7+B20. Based on the specification it should do 7CA. I hope it's not the same case as Xiaomi phones, which have the same CPU, but they don't pay fees for network features. So they don't support CA in Europe.
Next thing I need to know if they support 4x4 MIMO on each LTE band. This is also related to it 4x4 MIMO CA. That's the next thing.
And the last thing, if this mobile phone supports 256QAM.
It would be best if all these things were tested in the EU and using the application from the first post.
I have the same question. It seems as though I can't get carrier aggregation on my phone.
Has Nubia disabled this functionality? If anyone can confirm if the phone has it or not, that would be great.

I don't know but this is a 480 US dollar phone. Expect shortcuts.
What I don't understand is why you cannot ask the manufacturer directly.
Also, there's a resident Nubia PR employee here. You could ask him in a DM/PM:

Fair warning - He has been great but he's been swarmed by stupid questions from less than intelligent users.

Thanks for the link. I have sent that user a private message to confirm whether or not this phone supports carrier aggregation. I know the Snapdragon 855's modem definitely supports this feature hardware-wise. I fear that Nubia has intentionally disabled this feature as some other Chinese manufacturers have done in the past (Lenovo and Xiaomi come to mind).
I did message Nubia's support on this and they only replied with which LTE bands the phone supports. I already know that information and it doesn't solve my question.
If this phone really does lack LTE-CA, it is a major bummer for me as my older phones had this feature and it allows for very fast speeds with my carrier, Verizon Wireless.

The official Red Magic website makes no mention of LTE-CA. But the specs posted by GSMArena state it supports up to 7CA as you can see by the screenshot I posted. Qualcomm's website also confirms this if you look at the specs for the Snapdragon X24 modem this phone has.
The hardware can definitely support it for sure. It just seems that Nubia has disabled it for some reason unless I'm proven otherwise.

GSMArea is not always trusted source of CAT -category and CA. I hope some get combos directly from device modem.
I have builded own website where i have listed many 4G and 5G devices supported combos. I have example ZTE Axon 10 5G here: https://cacombos.com/device?model=A2020N3 . Here is instructions how to get 4G cacombos support from device: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g-supported-ca-combinations-from-your-android-phone/ .

Question Modem: Possible to Convert China 512gb to Global 512gb in terms of bands?

Is it a software thing that makes the band selection different between the two variants?
Is it possible to flash Global modem to China version to get the Global bands? or is there a physical difference?
OR
Does anyone think Xiaomi will come out with a 512gb global version in the future?
The different bands are hardware, there's nothing you can do about it.
Also, no, 100% they won't release any global 512gb version in the future.
Years ago there were some Qualcomm tools called QPST Tool and QXDM tool or something like that. I read they were used to "unlock" additional bands... But like I said, that was years ago, so no idea if it would work on the Mi 11 Ultra. Probably not.

Even if adding bands would be a thing...how many more does one even need? Basically all bands are there (except 66 which is prolly a us band).
It's cheaper for them to make one phone from a production standpoint than make ones with different bands for every market they plan to sell it in
I am gonna buy a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 512gb 12gb ram version, however there's no person ... "I just talked to our technicians, and maximum probable it's going to now not work and if it does then you will ... With the frequency bands as this cellphone is fashioned consistent with the Chinese ... Currently on miui international 12.Zero.3 QJZMIXM I'm in Australia if that matters.

Carrier aggregation

Hi everybody, i bought an s10 snapdragon and im using it in europe, i ve problems with carrier aggregation. I d already known that the snap version doesnt match band20 with the others. The problem is that it doenst aggregate any lte band. Is there a way to modify the carrier aggregation without root? I ve read some guide on this forum but im not sure they work with s10. Thanks
So what version of S10 you have bought? US version do not support example combinations used in Europe.

Carrier Aggregation combinations are compiled to modem firmware so you can't edit these. To update these need source code of modem firmware and then need sign key to sign firmware otherwise your phone modem will brick. On cacombos.com have listed hardware defined combinations.

The Realme 8 5G has a Dimensity 700 chip and the Relame 8 an Helio G95, they're completely different phones despite the name.
The regular Realme 8 technically allows for 3xCA, at least the SoC does, but there doesn't seem to be an implementation OS-side from Realme. Same for 4x4 MIMO.

Yes, I agree because the same chipset on other devices do support carrier aggregation.
The company however in its os has disabled it by default.
There must be some way to enable it
