Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G Unboxing & First Look - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5g Guides, News, & Discussion

Fellow members I have just recieved the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G so I thought I would share my unboxing and first look with you, Here is the Link if you want to watch my video: Mod Edit: Link Removed
Any questions feel free to ask, If you prefer feel free to read my thoughts below:
I will be unboxing the brand new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 which has a secret, yep that’s right it’s the 5g version! I have been waiting for this this device for sometime and its finally available from Vodafone.
The box is classic Xiaomi in a black and gold look which obviously symbolises this is a premium luxurious product. Opening the box there is a nice message from the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun.
Removing the card reveals the show stopper the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5g, I have the Onyx black 6gb RAM 128GB storage model. Also included in the box is the USB C charging cable, the Xiaomi fast charger, a headphone dongle, a slim case which is a nice addition and of course the usual booklets which no one reads.
Taking a look at the Mi Mix 3 5G, the first thing you notice is the beautiful 6.39in amoled full screen display which is totally uninterrupted, no notch, no punch hole and I feel this is my favourite solution out right now as the 24mp selfie camera is hidden behind the screen on a slider mechanism which is not motorised. I can’t explain how satisfying it feels to slide it open and closed. Whilst the phone is locked sliding the screen down allows fast face unlocking but if the phone is already in usage then it will launch the selfie camera.
On the top of the device there is a microphone, on the right side the volume rocker and power button, at the bottom, there are 2 grills one which houses a speaker and the other the mic, nestled in the middle is the USB C charging port. On the left is a key for the google assistant. Around the back it is just as beautiful as the front, a curved premium ceramic back which makes the Mi Mix 3 feel very dense, weighty & premium which is part of the reason it weighs in at 225g. The top left corner has a tiny camera bump which houses 2 12mp cameras, one is wide and the other telephoto with the flash sandwiched between them. The fingerprint sensor is also housed on the back and is extremely fast, I personally feel the positioning is spot on. Of course it wouldn’t be complete without the 5G logo & Mix branding in a beautiful gold finish, Did I say premium? It doesn’t get much better than this.
Now I know this looks very familiar to some of you especially those that bought the original Mi Mix 3 but Xiaomi has improved this version in 3 ways, firstly with the addition of 5G and secondly the latest Snapdragon chipset the 855 now replaces the older 845 and thirdly a bigger battery going from 3200mah to a much bigger 3800mah which are all welcome additions. It looks like Xiaomi went with the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it philosophy and to be honest I am glad. The Mi Mix 3 feels ergonomically perfect for me, not too big and thick enough where I can hold it comfortably in one hand and this is where the curved back feels wonderful.
I am also extremely pleased that the screen is flat and Xiaomi didn’t go with the current trend of curved screens because there is no issues with image distortion or colour warping making it very easy to view. It is still a 1080p resolution with a 403ppi and this definitely will aid with battery life.
The Earpiece unfortunately doesn’t double as a secondary speaker which I would have liked but it’s not a deal breaker as the bottom single speaker seems to be a good quality one. Also missing is a 3.5 mm headphone jack which most OEMs are adopting, unfortunate but sooner or later everyone will have to board the Dongle and Bluetooth bus.
Overall so far I would say anyone in the market looking for a 5g handset should definitely consider the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, I have personally owned and still have the Xiaomi Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2s and now the Mi Mix 3 5g which is the pinnacle of this series of phone. I can testify the longevity of the Mi Mix range and it’s clear that Xiaomi have refined the mi mix into what you see here.

C|net Xiaomi Redmi Note review

A little dated but a pretty complete review by C|cnet.
Big, bold, and cheap to boot.
The Good The Xiaomi Redmi Note has a vibrant display, a sharp camera, dual-SIM capability, and an easy-to-understand interface. Even unlocked it's quite affordable.
The Bad The Redmi Note runs the aging Android Jelly Bean OS, and the glossy plastic back feels oily after prolonged use. There's also no 4G LTE.
The Bottom Line The Xiaomi Redmi Note delivers a great display and satisfying performance at a low price, but skip it if you crave the most cutting-edge smartphone features.

[REVIEW] Honor 9 Lite Videos By Tech Zilla

Check out my Unboxing, First Impressions and Hands On with the Honor 9 Lite.
WATCH IT HERE: https://youtu.be/VWtZ5i21fvI
Please take the time to read about my first Impressions below too and any questions or requests please leave a comment below, thank you.
I attended the Honor launch event for the Honor 9 Lite and whilst there I got plenty of hands on time with both devices and came away extremely impressed. The Honor 9 Lite’s front camera features an industry leading 13MP + 2MP dual-lens system, delivering crystal images with hardware-level bokeh effects. Moreover, with panorama selfie, gesture control shooting, and built-in effects, enjoy your selfies with more fun.
On Opening the typical teal coloured box from Honor I was presented with the Honor 9 Lite in Glacier Grey, also included in the box was a charging brick, Micro USB charging cable and sim ejection tool. Because it is a review unit there were no booklets inside or paperwork thank goodness.
The Phone is made of 2.5D curved glass on the back and front of the display making it very ergonomic to hold and sandwiched in the middle is a nice metal frame. Very shiny with a mirror like finish and it feels extremely sturdy in hand.
There is a single speaker, charging port, mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the phone, a power button and volume rockers on the right side and on the left the sim card tray which can take 2 sims or a sim and micro sd card. On the front we have a 5.65in 18:9 FHD+ screen with the earpiece and dual selfie cameras above the screen and Honor branding on the chin. On the back we have a dual camera set up with LED flash, mic and more Honor branding and a very fast fingerprint reader.
The fingerprint reader is very fast and easy to set up unlocking the Honor 9 Lite in 0.25 seconds, thats right I said a quarter of a second! There is a 3000mah battery in the phone, not the biggest but at the £199 price point I can't complain in reality, the cameras on the front and rear of the Honor 9 Lite are 13mp and a 2mp shooter and they are great for Bokeh shots.
Overall I am impressed by the Honor 9 Lite so far and look forward to making more videos about it!

Redmi K20 (Mi 9T) VS Samsung A70

https://youtu.be/aJ7H2SN2VsA
If you watched the video you can clearly see that both phones have same brightness level yet the A70 screen looks much brighter and better than K20's screen which is dim and has ugly red tint. Samsung used a a very high quality amoled panel in the A70, the best I have seen in this price range. A70 also has bigger screen, bigger battery, and performance is great. It's downside is the ugly outdated back design and build materials. K20 has notchless display but look how thick the phone is. A70 is much thinner and sleek. I think the A70 is the winner.
I might be biased since I own the A70  Still the superiority of A70's AMOLED screen is undeniable and it's the main reason why I choose Samsung phones over other brands.
Bottom line: Not all AMOLED screens are created equal! Chinese phones use cheaper lower quality amoleds.
What do you think? :fingers-crossed:
I think the back of the a70 is really nice and does every thing I want it too just a shame the back srat he's so easy
the mi 9t is 300€ in france or 350€ depends on deals.

Yes you r right my source site was wrong.
Good to know
Also loving this battery life... way better than s10+
So a70 or mi 9t
I still prefer Samsung a70 over mi 9t
Special regards the display
I have no problem with the back of the phone i'm using a case anyway or after a month i will find tiny scratches everywhere even if the back is metal
Im currently debating between mi 9t or a70.
Which phone has better camera and video quality.
Can someone give me a hand?
Xiaomi mi 9T is the better device to me and yes I have both.
K20 has its disadvantages....
No expandable storage capacity..
Screen size...
Battery life...
These 3 are the ones which made me go for a70 rather than any other phone...

These are not Disadvantages
64gb or 128gb expandable storage is a personal preference.
Screen size is a personal preference screen on the a70 could be to big for some.
Battery is great on both back to screen smaller less battery consumption.
Disadvantage a70 sd675, glastic back that scratches easily, oh and one low speaker I have to crack it to the max most of the time.

Well, plastic back is actually preferable with larger phones because of the risk of accidental drop. And to be honest, a70 performs pretty good as well. And it is perfectly slim and anyone can hold this phone in his/her hand without problem. One hand usage is pretty awesome.
The speaker volume is good enough. But plug in a good mid tire headset, its amazingly good...

considering to get a mi 9

I'm looking to upgrade from my mi A1. I prefer smaller phones but I don't mid big phones either, but the thing that drives me mad about my mi a1 is that it's top heavy. So if I use my phone in one hand it'll just tip over from my hand (sometimes), forcing me to put my palm a bit higher than usual. Is the mi 9's weight balanced? is it comfortable to use one handed?
It's a personal opinion but I think it's well balanced. But take in account that it's heavier than A1 and it's not a phone designed to be used with only one hand, the screen is way too big to reach all parts with one hand. (but it's the case of almost all phones now).
Other than that, it's not the same for everybody but I like the rounded back and I think it's confortable, only complaint in design it the back cameras, they are too much out of the phone body and I'm scared to scratch it every time I put it on a table
well, i have a Mi 9 since last week, not using much but as a confort in the hand is awesome, cause the phone is thin and not much weight on it considering its size.
You, coming from a A1 will be amazed with the Mi9 screen, cause is a big big screen for that small size.
One thing that drive me nuts with this phone is just when typing, i have big hands and my thumbs get a little uncofortable when typing and hurt a little when need to move the thumb but, not a big deal.
Overall this phone is a must and deserve all the atention for what they offer, i recomend to you go for the 128GB version cause 64 i think is just too small, you gonna fill it up quick, as of the other features, is a phone with tons of things to praise like wireless charging, IR blaster, amazing amoled screen with under display fingerprint scanner, and a battery life decent for the size.
My hand is above average size wise and I can operate it with minimal risk of sliding out. The upper and lower parts feel almost identical in heft so I'd say it's pretty well balanced, for what it's worth I have had an s9+ and 7 pro in hand recently and i'd say the weight is best balanced on the mi 9.

Yes, I saw that yesterday.
But... The battery didn't leak and provoked any kind of fire, if we have to point a positive thing.
But it does comfort me on sticking with my OnePlus 9 Pro a little longer.
I was definitely disappointed to see that video. I am still happy with my 8T though. Hopefully the 10T will offer a more durable device.
Here is another bend test where it survives :

That;s all about where you put pressure. If that happens to be just below cameras, I think that's where that's more likely to rbeak.
There's basically nothing there white the volume button's hole makign the frame more fragile.
Well if bending phones is what you usually do in your every day life then you probably shouldn't get this phone. Otherwise you will be perfectly fine, just like me.
Tbf I'd probably fold the guy in the video in half.
I think I'll be ok not bending it. But at the end of the day it is aluminium.
I still remember the horror from years ago of seeing a big fat cowgirl sit of her new Note 4.
She said it didn't matter if it broke, she got it for free. More W. Texas stupid...
I sort of would expect to be able to snap the backbone of any phone. Never tried it or have the desire to... and I don't need another glass cut. A polycarbonate frame sucks, aluminum is better, stainless steel best.
The only things I don't like are no expandable storage and the round display corners. Its frame integrity probably isn't an issue... unless you're irrepressibly destructive.
I put a good Case on it to take care of my badboy device!
