3rd party watch faces - how to use them - Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Themes, Apps, and Mods

There are a couple of options how to download and apply custom watch face to Mi Band 4.
- Notify & Fitness, Mi Band tools,.. - watch faces are browsed, downloaded and applied in these applications directly (sometimes can be a bit cumbersome)
- AmazFaces - official application for https://amazfitwatchfaces.com/ web page hosting thousands of different watch faces. Browsing is easy and when you find a watch face you like, by clicking on the "download" button, the watch face will appear in Mi Fit application for future usage. To apply the particular watch face you must use "My band displays" section in Mi Fit.

2 things custom watch face developers should keep in mind:
1. Don't put am/pm when you use military hours (1 to 24), pointless and look stupid.
2. Don't use bright background. It affect battery life more significantly than you'd imagine.

[Q] Black screen in the night

Hi Guys,
Is there a way to automatically turn off the screen at night (during a specific time).
Is there any app to do this ? Or tasker/IFTTT/Tockle profile to do the same ?
I would like a swipe-from-the-right switch similar to the mute switch (swipe from top) which puts the watch into airplane mode and deactivates the always on mode, too. (=night mode)
WatchMaker app just got (after the last update) tasker plugin. You can switch different faces based on different parameters. If you build a face with dim mode - off and you will activate-it after midnight (as an example), then you will get exactly what you want.
Any example for this.. I am unable to figure this out
You need to install "tasker" also, in parallel with "watchmaker".'Go to watchmaker app and create the watch face you desire (or download one from the internet - there are plenty to choose from).
Take the watchface of your choice and create a duplicate.
On the duplicate add a BLACK png file on top of everything and activate-it only in dim mode.
Then, set-u tasker to switch on the duplicate face while it's night and to the original face in the rest of the day.
Now, you will basically have the same watchface in all circumstances, but at night, the dim mode will just be black (which, in the amoled world, means, screen off).

you can do the same thing without Tasker:
add a BLACK png file- or even better: a shape with the color black and size of 512x512px - on top of everything and activate-it only in dim mode
then use the following formula in the opacity field:
{dh23} > 18 and 100 or {dh23} < 7 and 100 or 0
red indicates the time in which to apply the filter (in my case between 19:00 and 07:00)

I'm just using "Slumber for Android Wear"
It makes the screen black when you put the watch on his cradle.
No airplane mode though

yes, WatchMaker is great on its own - but I really love the tasker integration!
I'm using the above formula to set a 50% opacity shade during the night hours in order to dim the screen
btw: the same thing should be possible with Facer

i have used tasker to set the black watch face in the night. but 1 problem, watchmaker works only when one of the faces from watchmaker is selected. If i select any of stock watchface, the tasker thing does not work as it is mentioned in watchmaker app description that to change the face one of the watchmaker faces should be selected on the watch..
Of course it's working like that, seriously, what have you expected?
If/when the main wear app will allow changing faces remotely via tasker (or it will offer an API for that) then we will be able to do that.
Anyway, my watch is turning off by itself while it's placed in the charger. It will not turn off immediately but after few minutes.

I haven't tried it myself, but FaceLift could be what you are looking for
it should allow you to switch to watchmaker (which you have to pre-set with a black image) and back to the stock face at certain times

As I understand it, praddz wants the watch to turn off during a certain time frame, not when charging
If you want the watch to turn off immediately when charging and are willing to enable developer options, for me it works to set the keep screen on option to enabled
At night I just deactivate Screen Alway ON to have screen off while charging. So easy that changing face or other workaround no ? Long press button and just click on screen parameter.

Figured I'd chime in that changing faces from the app is confirmed for the Lollipop/Wear 2.0 update rolling out this week. On another note, it would be cool to have the 5.0 notification system integrated into Wear, so things like Quiet Hours, Priority interruptions, etc. Maybe someday.
Am i missing something? My watch automatically turns the screen off when it's on the cradle, after about 10 minutes.

Share your desktop images/video

Hi everyone!
Tried searching for similar thread, but not found.
So let's share pictures and/or videos of your desktops, share info on what launcher you use, some useful hints, ideas with others.
Let me begin.
My setup is based on Lightning Launcher Extreme. I learned about it just recently.
It is probably the most customizable launcher ever: unlimited number of desktops, provides different kinds of items and containers, everything can be customized and the most I like in it: it is scriptable in JavaScript!
Here's a video of my head unit (it's a bit intermittent, sorry for that):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgL8oOJThV0
On this video:
- auto-hideable, sliding-out menu panel at the left, where I put frequently used apps to not occupy screen all the time;
- "now playing" text at bottom, made without any widgets, using built-in "Text" object with some JavaScript receiving info from Neutron Player (on video) and also capable to get data from PCRadio app;
- GPS speed (it shows as 0 all the time as the car was steady) and voltage that appeared after I turned the ignition ON - these are "Text" objects too, with script receiving data from Torque application, again, no 3-rd party widgets;
In general, I prefer contrast themes with dark background/white content, as it most visible on sunny days, this is quite important while driving a car.
For now, my imagination exhausted on a single desktop I just cannot think of why do I need another, what would I put there?

What WE want in the next Community Build! Posted on 10/24/16

We begin with a premise. We are a facebook group that has as its object the OnePlus3 (The group name’s is OnePlus3/3T ITA). We decided to collect our ideas to suggest to you what OnePlus Developer should add to our device to make it perfect.
This is the suggestion list that we hope you will implement. Many of these requests want to be implemented as a possibility of choice. When you buy a OnePlus you want to have more liberty of customization.
HOME CUSTOMIZATION:
1- A better weather application:
- more information (such as Google Now or Windows 10 PC-style)
- a better widget on shelf bar*!
*I now that i can tap on the top to open weather application but it would be nice see a greater integration with more information.
2- Ability to have another swipe from right to left to access to the news of google now (after the shell).
3- Ability to access to the app drawer as the new Pixels Launcher with a swipe from bottom to top.
4- A package of circular icons.
5- Being able to change the display grid of apps in the app drawer and the home.
6- Ability to remove the drawer and leave all apps in the home (such as iOS or Miui).
HARDWARE BUTTON:
7- Ability to set the lateral slider as follows: ringer, vibrate, silent (Also this based on the choice of people. Just put a simple option in the settings).
8- One handed mode with a swipe on central button touch.
CAMERA:
9- Frontal Flash with the use of screen brightness. We need this feature for selfie during night or dark place.
10- Manual mode during video.
11- Ability to record video in HDR mode.
12- Slow Motion with audio.
13- A best correction of the white balance in manual mode with a slider (as LgG4 or LgG5).
OTHER REQUEST:
14- A Toggle for the pocket mode (switch on/off).
15- Enter to the clock app by clicking on the time in the bar of the expanded notifications.
16- Ability to personalize the night mode with different screen temperatures. Like “twilight” app.
18- Quick access to the battery from the notification bar as in the version 3.2.X.
19- Ability to set the background of the app and the notifications bar completely BLACK (not only dark grey. That is not nice).
20- Integration of an energy saving system that would limit the use of the CPU without affecting the application synchronization and data in the background.
Even an "ultra power saving mode" as on Galaxy s6/s7 would be very nice.
21- Ability to zoom the video in the playback phase (as on LgG4 and G5) with a simple "pinch to zoom". This is a COOL FEATURE.
22- Always On function.
All of us in the facebook group OnePlus3/3T ITA want to thank OnePlus and his team for the way they are working on our terminal. We also hope that these requirements listed above will be upheld in positve way.
THANK YOU
P.S: If you (that you're not part of the facebook group) share these ideas, copy them and put them in the last question ("Do you have any advice that we can use to improve the next beta builds? Please describe in detail") of the feedback of CB 3.5.4.
All I want is for oneplus to open up their camera to third party devs... CM14 is better than anything oneplus has been able to offer, but we need a better camera!

This is a trascription of a Carl Pei's interview to XDA's community : "We want to, and we’ve been talking about internally. So there’s a challenge with the camera because if we want a blob, then there are two major challenges. The first one being, the code relating to the camera is on a lot of layers, so you have something related to the camera on the framework level, something on the Android level, something on a system level. So we’re gonna have to rewrite a lot of code to be able to separate it in a way that allows us to blob it. And the second reason is, if we were to blob it the result is that the speed will suffer, so the speed of the camera UX on custom ROMs will suffer. We’re still trying to figure out a way of how we can release something that will help people improve the camera in their custom ROMs without making the experience become too bad. And we don’t want something with our logo to have a poor experience either. So it is going to be a little bit harder than we thought, but we’ve been discussing this"

Looks like they should have made it more developer friendly from the beginning. Did they honestly think that nobody would be using custom ROMS?

X1.000.000 on this
Also, ability to have different sound level Calls and Notifications
Ability to hide apps in app drawer and make folders.
And private mode in gallery, working with fingerprint would be nice.
Different sound levels for calls and notifications.
Always on display which consumes just a little battery
For me the one trivial thing that really should be addressed are those awful accent colors. Especially for the dark theme.
The palette used is so pale! Except for the green and the sky blue I don't think anyone really likes the others. They really should change those to Material Design colors or atleast give the option to customize.
1. The most important !!! I want to be able to instal any rom without reflashing recovery, firmware or anyting else.
2. I want to set Finger print to lock/unlock screen without any pass or pattern, that means to work everytime.
3. Camera to make Macro photos.

samsung note 5 [or any other android with large screen] lock screen watch animation

Hi Guys,
Wanted to ask a [probably nub] question:
I have seen the great skins on the various smart watch and wondered if there is any known application that can make my phone act as a watch,
meaning show the time on the lock screen with the ability to mimic an analog watch and to be able to switch between different skins.
I'm a bit afraid to admit that i have searched and could'nt find anything that can do this [and show the actual time]
This is the main reason i was thinking of buying a new smart watch [just because i love the option of switching the way they look]
Please help :-/
Not clear . May be it is 'AOD' feature that you are looking for which is there in couple of Custom ROMs here.

AOD brightness hack

BUYER BEWARE: I don't know how Samsung handles burn-in. I created an overlay for WatchMaker that effectively turns off every pixel for a minute or two each hour (similar to what pixel shift does).
------------------------------------------------
I lucked into exploiting a bug/glitch that somehow tricks or circumvents the 15% OPR limitation in dim mode. What I end-up with is considerably brighter, and much more useable/readable.
Using WatchMaker and Tasker, create a task to run every 5 minutes throughout the day. Every 5 minutes (or 10 or whatever you choose, just needs to be higher than watch's screen off time), re-send the currently selected WatchMaker face to your Watch. It might take a cycle or two to sync, but you'll end-up with the default WatchMaker brightness (which doesn't appear to be adjustable) in dim mode.
My blue/orange/red watchfaces (some with @ 45% OPR) are now readable in dim mode. Uses maybe 1-1.5% extra battery per hour (I have brightness set to 4 out of 10). App "I'm Alive" works great to keep your watch always on (and active), but is a huge battery drain in the 8-10% per hour range in my tests. The Tasker trick above actually allows your watch to go into inactive/dim mode.
NOT A GUARANTEE AGAINST BURN-IN!!!
Here are the overlays I use in WatchMaker. It would be the top/last two layers in your design. The first I set the X coordinate to {dm}, which shifts the image 1 pixel right each minute. The second I set the Y coordinate to {dm}, which shifts the image 1 pixel down each minute.
I really can't see these pixels, although they may show on large white parts of your watch.
The images are a 630x630 square at 364 DPI (for the 1.4" 45mm Galaxy Watch 3). Each row has 1 pure black pixel every 60 pixels, and I alternated so to maximize the space between pixels to not be noticeable. The second image is rotated 180 degrees so you can use both in order to "turn-off" each pixel for 2 minutes each hour.
One more layer of protection would be to lengthen your minute hand all the way to the edge and it will then, presumably, change the color of every pixel for a few minutes each hour as it rotates around.
The images are below (they're just mostly transparent!). Hover around with the cursor to find GWBurnIn1.png and GWBurnIn2.png
More tips:
Rotate watch faces at least every 12 hours to reduce chance of burn-in (GW3 WatchMaker max is 3 hours, FYI, but you need to control this from Tasker, anyway, to select different watches at different times on different days)
Alternate between light/colored faces and dark/black faces. Even better, use paint.net (free download for PC) to create the inverted color version of the watch face. But in most cases the inverted face will probably be ugly as sin.
A couple battery drain tips: Don't use WatchMaker default rotation commands for the minute-hand, use {dm}*6. In dim mode, the hand only moves every minute, anyway, but the default rotation is adjusted for seconds which could cause it to constantly engage cpu to calculate. Similarly, you might not want to use the continuous second-hand {drss} rotation.
Note: The second-hand does not disappear in dim mode even if set to bright only. Use the below code for the Opacity of the second-hand. This makes the second hand invisible after the watch has been active for 15 seconds. It will come back, for 15 seconds (or whatever you choose) when you interact with your watch again.
{c_elapsed} >=15 and 0 or 100

There are two steps. First, a "sub-task" to set a Tasker variable. In the below scenario, I'm rotating 25 watchfaces for the week. It's iterating the variable +1 every 8 hours, until 25 then back to 0.
with trigger/event set from 12AM every 8 hours
1) Variable set.....Name "%WMwatch" and To 0 and "If %WMwatch" eq 25
2) Variable add....Name "%WMwatch" and Value 1 and Wrap Around 0
Second step. Set the watchface. You need to use the Tasker Watchmaker plugin. The action is "WM Change Watch". The trigger event you want to set to every 5 minutes (or 2, or 10 minutes or whatever). I use 5 minutes and the battery drain is completely negligible.
1) Configuration: choose your watchface...and use the IF function %WMwatch EQ 1 (and then a different watchface for 2, and 3, and so on).
That's it. Kind of hard to explain, but if you guys are familiar with Tasker you should be able to figure it out. This hack is still working for me, and I love it.
