K20 Pro owners: How's your LTE signal in Europe? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Is it really necessary to have band 20? Do you exprerience signal drops with LTE? Do you live in a city or countryside?

I'm in the city (northern of Italy) but go on countryside and on highways. Sometimes I don't see LTE signal (only H and occasionally 3G) but I have no idea if other phones get LTE signals there...
The phone calls are always good and no problems here)
Now I've a the phone for about one month and I do not suffer for the absence of the B20 signal.

In Croatia i get 4G almost everywhere also in Austria, but in Germany in rural areas there is H+ or 3G because they use band 20 to cover bigger areas (so there no 4G for k20pro)

In town where I live (~20k people, Poland) there is mostly LTE and in a bit of places with LTE+. But in some areas the phone is jumping to H+.

if you make an account here, you can check
In Holland coverage is almost full

Xiaomi mi5/North america,United States usage?

I'm thinking of porting this phone to the states. Now i understand it will not get 4g LTE connection and will limit me to an hspa+ and 3g connection. My question is to anyone who has it in the states how's the connection holding up for you? Does it bug you that you dont have LTE?
Yes, the connection is quite slow. And the 3g signal is sometimes weak even though other phones have very good LTE signals. I unlocked other bands and sometimes I have LTE connections but the speed is usually slow. However, 3g is usually bearable for me.

3g is fine if you are not in rural area.
U should choose ATT or its mvno.

Will the A3010 work well in Europe?

I'm about to buy a OnePlus 3T.
I live in Sweden and travel in Europe from time to time.
Will the A3010 work well for me (even with 4G)?
I have already looked at willmyphonework.net/ but it only says:
"Device is compatible with some of the network carriers frequencies. It may work."
What practical advantages would I notice with a A3003(European version) vs the A3010(China version)?

The main difference between OnePlus 3T A3003 and A3010 is the A3003 supports LTE band 1/3/5/7/8/20/38/40, which is the international model while A3010 supports LTE band 1/3/5/7/8/38/39/40/41, which is the China model.
basically you wont have support for this bands on 4G

The only LTE band that is missing on A3010 is Band20. Most of Sweden network carriers are using Band7 so you are good to go. When you go aboard is a different story. But you are also more flexible because you can chose the roaming network. All you have to do is to chose a supported network carrier.

I'm confused by this. By those numbers it seems that the China model covers all the numbers as the Europe mode,l plus a few more. If so, then what bands are missing?
Or doesn't it work that way? Please help me understand
Edit: Oh... I missed to see band 20. But what does it mean practically that the China model misses band 20? How will I notice it?

Okay. What does it mean practically that the China model misses band 20?
How would I be likely to notice it when using my phone?

On a network that is using Band20 you'll have only HSDPA connectivity. Basically the phone will work just fine except the fact you won't have LTE connectivity. You'd have only 2G/3G/H+

Thank you. It's getting somewhat clearer. Okay, but how likely am I to run in to Band20? Is that band (the only one missing from China model) more likely to be used than any of all of the other bands that are listed?

I'll give you the UK example. In UK there's 3 LTE bands in use: 3,7 and 20. Other put 2600Mhz, 1800Mhz and 800Mhz (that's Band20 btw...). Only O2 is using only Band 20. All other providers are using at least one extra LTE band. EE is using all three LTE bands, Vodafone is using band 3 and band 20 and Three is using band 7 and band 20.
Now here is the thing... Those network checkers are telling that your device might work. But is not always the case. Here is the Vodafone UK example. As I said they are using Band 3 and Band 20. Now let's take a phone with Band3 but not Band 20 (for example my former Xiaomi Mi5). Will work on LTE but only in urban areas. Why? Because in rural areas the band used are band 7 and 20. Why? Lower frequencies are better at travelling long distances so are more suitable for rural areas where there are fewer masts. Also Band 20 provide better indoor coverage. But if you live in an urban area Band 3 and 7 are more likely to be used. The higher the frequency means higher capacity and therefore the ability to deal with more users which is a must in an urban area.
All in all the best way is to call your provider and ask what frequency they are using in YOUR area. If they are using 1800Mhz or 2600Mhz you are good to go. If not...I'm sorry.

Just for my curiosity why are interested on a China version and not on a Europe one?
Here is the list of LTE bands used by Sweden network carriers. Take a look at it and you'll see if China version is good to go on your provider.
If you're primarily going to use it in Sweden, I would go with the A3003 (that's what I did, but then I seldom leave Jämtland ?).

Wow. Now that was a good response! You really seem to know your stuff! Cool. :good:
Okay. Now I understand things a lot better too.
I use Telenor (and spend quite some time in Jämtland (rural) like another poster here:good.
Well I plan to buy my phone on ebay and the annoying thing is that the A3003 is about $100 more expensive than the A3010. I still think it is hard to decide if it will be worth an extra $100 for the Europe version...
You should not only consider LTE Bands, but also consider LTE CA.
Hong Kong/ Europe Model (A3003)
FDD-LTE/ 4G: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20
TDD-LTE/ 4G: Bands 38/40
LTE CA / 4G+:
B3+B7, B3+B8, B3+B20, B7+B20, B3+B3, B3C, B7+B7, B7C, B40C
China Model (A3010)
FDD-LTE/ 4G : Bands 1/3/5/7/8
TDD-LTE/ 4G: Bands 38/39/40/41
LTE CA/ 4G+:
B1+B3, B39+B41, B39C, B40C, B41+B41, B41C,B38C
American Model (A3000)
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17/30
LTE CA/ 4G+:
B2+B12, B2+B17, B4+B7, B4+B17, B12+B30,B2+B2, B2C, B4+B4, B4+B12, B4+B5, B2+B5
Ok. I ended up buying the EU-version as I found one that was just $40 more expensive.
Many thanks for making this more understandable guys! *thumbs up*

Anybody using Mix as daily driver in London?

Hello all Mix fans.
I`m currently on S7 and looking for a change. Been fan of Mix since it came out, but only now prices have come down to affordable levels for 256GB model.
I`m on Vodafone and I do know Mi doesn`t support Band 20. What would that mean in daily usage? Slow 4G speeds? No 4G at all? Bad reception in weak areas of city/between tall buildings?
I`m trying to understand how it this will affect my daily usage.
Thank you.

If it helps, Im using the mi mix pro (256gb) in israel for a couple of days (received it 4 days ago) and I get 4g/LTE with no problem and I have not experienced any reception issues at all.
You should definitely get this phone (almost passed out during the unboxing from looking at this masterpiece).

Hey, good point.. Im in my room(not in London obviously) with no 4G connection(never showed up, not even a single bar) where my previous device s6e+ used to get 2 bars of 4G reception in the same exact place.
On the street, it's ok but no 4G reception in weak areas as well.
Side note: You'll be missing the quality of s7 camera too.

I've been using my Mi Mix in London for the past week. I'm with Virgin who are using the EE network.
Reception and wi-fi signal is excellent almost always get 4g speed. Excellent phone reception even indoors.
Should not be a problem on Vodafone or EE network. Great coverage.
I'm not in London but I've been using the Mix in the UK for more than 6 months now, so I can offer some general insight.
4G will depend primarily on the network you're on - without band 20, compatibility with UK networks is limited.
EE is your best choice with both hands 3 and 7 used by them (as well as band 20, of course) and particularly since their original LTE roll-out was on band 3, I believe they have more coverage on band 3 than on bands 7 and 20, so it'll be the most consistent 4G service you can get on the Mix.
Vodafone have some LTE on band 7, though my experience is it's patchy - all but non-existent in some larger cities like Edinburgh but I got it in Birmingham. They seem to have focused more on band 20 unfortunately.
Three have some band 3 but I have no idea what the roll-out is like, I suspect not great because they got the band 3 spectrum from EE after the auction when they purchased the band 20, I believe. I could be wrong though.
O2 only have band 20, so if you want to use the Mix with them, you need to accept that it'll be 3G only.

Post your 4G/LTE speed results

I'm really happy with OnePlus5 4G/LTE performance.
Both results are inside building, first one is using 4G+/LTE-A:

Nice speeds! I live in a 256 QAM / 3x CA market with T-Mobile, but we only have 5+5+5 worth of spectrum Speeds top out around 70Mbps.
its 5ghz WLAN, 2,4ghz WLAN and lte, in that order.
I have a 400mbit/s cable, so the 5ghz pretty much goes to the max.

Rog Phone 2 Problem With LTE Band 20 (Tencent Version)

Hi Friends, I have LTE Coverage problem in some places in the town and many places out of the big cities in Germany , because Rog Phone 2 (Chines Ver) doesn't support LTE Band 20. This band is one of the Low Frequencies(800) and it's important for far away places .
Do you have same problem?
I returned Tencent Version and ordered Global. You can see on the video that Rog phone2 can't find Band 20 and used Band3 with weak LTE Signal:
