Oneplus 7 Pro vs Rog phone 2 ? - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

So I have received an offer to sell my 6t for $450, so I was wondering if I sell it what my next phone will be?
Main concerns for Rog phone 2:
- Size
- weight
- Quality control as many people in china reported issues with the screen
- OS OTA updates/ bug fixes
Concerns about oneplus 7 pro:
- more expensive around $100 more
- Curved screen glare.
What do you recommend?

I will go with the ROG. For a couple of reasons: Cheaper, design symmetry, better front firing dual speakers, 120 HZ screen and finally longer battery life. Regarding your concerns the weight isn't a big of a deal as they make it sound to be, in terms of size; yes it is big but it's similar to 1+ size. QC issues that will depend on how you view it personally I have no issues except for some software bugs I hope they fix soon in a future update.

I m reading many people's review regarding screen some experience some choppiness, low brightness or screen yellow light white?
Did the phone receive any updates yet?

I haven't seen any of that. Just the fact that not every app runs at 120fps. Other than that everything else I love about it.

oh thank you for your feedback, did you face any issues with google on mobile data? I do use google maps a lot on mobile data while driving.

No issues with google maps or tmobile. I'm using the tencent version. Although when I first had hotspot on I couldn't use gps. It seems to have sorted itself out though.

Dude go with ROG. I have the 7. The curved screen has been such a hassle. Always closing or pressing things I didn't mean to. And when gaming it's really really annoying.

Do you think it will have a dev community like the zenphone 6?

ohh man i have no idea. I hope so. Given how many sold so quickly and asus releasing unlocker I am sure there will be some movement. Also hopeful just looking at threads in this forum. Folks already flashing WW to CN version and got root. I am sure we will be fine. $500 for this phone is a steal.

Isn't there a chinese website like xda? I bet they have achieved so root and mods to the device!

I have both. ROG 2 is taller even though OP7Pro has a bigger screen. Weight they're both heavy but ROG a bit heavier. OP screen is a lot brighter than my ROG. It will probably deoend on how you use your phone. I will sell my OnePlus and keep my ROG for the battery. I'm a casual gamer and heavy user of FB, FB Messenger, Viber, some YouTube and casual gamer and OnePlus gets me 4-5 hrs of SOT while ROG gets me 8-9hrs.

This is my first ROG Phone but a friend of mine has the ROG 1 and he is still on Oreo and last update he had I think was last March. So yeah in this regard OnePlus is better.

I have the Rog 1 and 2. Because i love both i haven't sold the first generation. Regarding updates i believe the Rog phone 2 will get better support because of it's popularity and price, yes the first generation isn't getting a lot of updates and we will be getting the Pie update i believe by the end of September at most if not earlier.
But coming back to the question of updates, do current updates have any added features ...barely in my opinion except for the security updates which the Rog phone is getting every 3 months since it was launched. I even prefer the Oreo rom on the Rog 1 over the Pie rom of the ROG 2 which to me doesn't add any added features what so over i even feel it's a downgrade in comparison, regarding Android Q or 10, the only thing to look for is improved gesture navigation and dark mode which we are enjoying currently on the ROG 2.
@Shady282 Good luck with which ever phone you go with!

for sure rog phone 2 is the winner.. i bought the 8/128GB version. its enough for me , 12 gb ram wont be used its only for marketing strategy and its only if anyone want more storage like 512gb.
rog phone 2 has an amazing 120hz oled 1ms pixel response, 10bit hdr10 almost full dci p3 screen with 240hz touch sample. latest plus processor with better 15% gpu performance, better front facing speakers,6000mah, 3,5mm jack, gorilla glass 6, ufs 3.0, 48+13mpx and 24 back and front camera with amazing stabilization, better haptics feed, better gaming and costant framerate, lots of usb c 3.1 with video output, fast charge( up to 30 watt supported).. its a best buy at 550$
oneplus 7 pro is less smooth 90hz and higher resolution will impact gaming and gpu benchmarks. no 3,5 mm jack, lower battery capacity, curved edges are cool but not useful and make accidental touches, worse speakers and stardard 855 processor. it cost 200$ more
maybe the only reason to switch to oneplus is software community and development, but i will stay to rog phone 2 due to better specs and price

I m really liking the rog for all the specs but new OS gets a lot of optimizations in many different area even games performance, also fixes many bugs. The thing about asus with rog, is that they don't fix their bugs and u won't experience improved New OS features.

Also don't forget oneplus updates their phone much much faster than asus so my concern will be if asus will change their ways. They still didn't update rog phone 1 to Pie yet...

yes, but they made a lot of sales now and community here is doing great stuff and good spirit... customs roms may save this device.

Custom roms will cut almost all new features of rog 2 btw. So its only remains to hope asus will provide updates and optimization for 855+ and 120hz the most

Is it worth spending premium of double for Nokia 7 plus?

Hello All,
Here I am, a typical Indian consumer, looking for value for money as always. No doubt I have been a Nokia fan when it ruled cellular industry and I can't express my happiness by knowing their much awaited return with Android. After using my Lenovo Vibe P1 for almost 2.5 years, I am looking for a change. Not to mention how pathetic my experience has been with this phone but for a regular usage, I am very much satisfied. Ignoring serious issues like phone heating till it feels like it will melt at any moment or the worst ram management I could have hoped for, there were some brights sides like 5000 mAh battery, fingerprint scanner to make me feel sophisticated which served its purpose and I need a change now.
Considering the love from past for Nokia, I am seriously considering this device for next couple of years of usage. Advantages I see are looks, processor, display, and most importantly Android One! But the biggest downside right now for me is the price! It's ridiculously priced at ₹26k which calls for premium of almost double for it's somewhat competitors Note 5 pro (₹15k), Zenfone Pro m1(₹13k).
My question is, is it worth of paying double? I am searching for logical reasons which will let my biased mind to go for Nokia 7 plus.
As of now Zenfone Pro m1 has already assured P & Q updates with bimonthly security patches.
Snapdragon 636 is what I think can suffice my requirements as I am a regular user who can play games if hardware permits. (Believe me, I had to uninstall all games from my current device. So I can make sacrifices! ) So not a "heavy" or "die hard" gamer.
5000 mAh battery will not let me forget the nightmare I had with my current device.
So considering average usage, is Nokia 7 plus a worth to give a shot? And more over additional question, hows is vibration sensitivity? I used to miss almost all the calls while my current device is in pocket, so everyone who cared for me are now used to this but still looking to surprise them all by picking it up in 1 ring! So please let me know how is the vibration intensity! (You can tell me in comparison with Moto as motos have vibration sounding louder than ringtones!)
Awaiting responses!
Cheers!

Well, a phone isn't all about hardware. Yeah, it may have a SD660 that's just a minor upgrade over the SD636 in RN5 pro and it may have just 4gb ram but the software experience also counts.
Nokia is the only OEM right now except Google to guarantee next 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates.
Nokia 7 plus isn't a value for money device in any way. Not even Nokia advertises it as such. It's a premium mid range device. You are paying that premium cost (double) for gorgeous sturdy design and continuous software support. Also, the camera is better on Nokia 7 plus even though not by a huge margin but keeping in mind the regular updates Nokia provide, they can improve it in future.
Software support doesn't come cheap. Yeah, it could have been priced under 25k for the psychological satisfaction though.
Going by your requirements, I feel RN5 pro is great for you and even Zenfone pro.
The vibration intensity is great on Nokia 7 plus.

Nokia 7 plus is a good phone with great build quality. I bought it offline for 25.5k. There are few stutters due to aggressive battery saving governor. Nokia's service is fast and cheap. My brother's Nokia 5 got screen replacement for 2k from service centre.
If you don't want it-
Honor 8 pro will be a better choice for you if you want value for money. It's for 21k on Flipkart. My experience from Honor phones is great. They don't slow down their phones like some manufacturers do(Moto,Apple) and provide 2 major android updates to all phones except holly series. Bootloader is unlockable and you won't void your warranty.

Thanks buddy for your response. Regarding software updates, even though Zenfone Pro m1 is not "Android 1", they too promised 2 updates on Android P & Q and bimonthly security patches. So I am not convinced on "software" being a reason for this. I am on Android 6 right now since last couple of years and I doubt what difference it makes to have Android 8 on day to day use. Even Xiaomi is prompt on providing continuous update. I have Mi4i since last 3 years with my family member and it still receive updates once or twice a year. So paying this much as a premium for "software" is not convincing.
Regarding build quality, yes, I do agree! Nokia 7 plus looks stunning!! But again, we put heavy back cover, tempered glasses on top of Gorilla! I mean! What's the use of this then!

Thanks buddy for your response. Please let me know more about service center network of Nokia. This might help me to go for it. I have very pathetic experience for Lenovo. The service centers here in Pune works on 100 tokens/day system and you have to be in queue early morning to get the token. Then they will keep your phone for at least a month for some silly fixes! Which makes you feel like a looser!! I still remember the old Nokia service centers were you were given satisfactory service in one go and you leave the service center with a smile!
Please let me know how is the service center network of Nokia now? are they tied up with third party service providers like most of the brands have done in recent years? or have a dedicated store to resolve issues on priority without any discrimination of issues?
I think u know the answer well.but still let me give u some suggestions. If u want to have after sale support go with nokia. If u are okay without after sale support go with xiaomi. And if u can live with a normal front cam and decent after sale support go with asus max pro m1. But if u want all the satisfaction go with nokia 7 plus. I think u will get a good value of ur old phone in exchange n also arrange a icici debit or credit card on which u will have a instant cashback of 10% on amazon.
One more thing if u r a fan of custom roms my only suggestion will be for redmi note 5 pro.

Nokia provides monthly security updates and Zenfone provides bi monthly updates. It may not sound huge to you but if some vulnerability comes up by chance, Nokia would have upper hand.
Well, new android platform updates brings better security, better performance and better features. Xiaomi provides updates but doesn't upgrade the underlying android version. The RN5 pro is still running Android 7.0 and in next few months, Android 9.0 is coming. There's day light difference in 6.0 and 8.0. The difference is gonna be bigger with 9.0.
Receiving 1 or 2 updates a year maybe enough for you but not everyone else. As I can sense from your arguments, being on latest software isn't a priority for you and that's fine.
But it does take a premium to provide monthly and not bi-monthly security updates or 3 updates a year . It may not seem much to you as you brought in Zenfone too into the argument but that's the only phone from Asus running on stock Android. Nokia has more than 10 devices.
The camera on Nokia 7 plus is exceptionally well. Also, RN5 pro maybe as fast as Nokia 7 plus but there's also a point about overall smoothness which is different from speed.
The SD660 is costly than SD636 and the phone also has ZEISS branding which again asks for a premium.
Also, Xiaomi's selling strategy is different from Nokia's.
Regarding build quality, Nokia durability tests have time and again showed that even without using case or tempered glass, they can withstand a few falls easily. Now whether or not your Nokia device will break in one fall also depends upon you luck. The in hand feel of the Nokia 7 plus is on par with the Pixel 2/XL. I would suggest you to go to a shop or mall and feel the device yourself.
I will simplify it for you.
The best value for money device is Zenfone pro just as you want to.
Zenfone pro - No fast charging support. If you can live with it, go for it.
RN5 pro - Miui. If you can live with it, go for it for better front cam performance compared to Zenfone pro.
I don't think custom rom support means much to you but if it does, both Zenfone pro and RN5 pro will be good for you.

That's one of the great feedback buddy! Appreciate that. That makes me consider Nokia 7 plus again. Just a few question, how about the hardware related issues people have mentioned here. Like I read somewhere regarding heat issue while charging, or display having LCD issue with yellow/blue spots, etc ?

Service centre is yet to test by me after all these long years
But i can assure you that u will not regret after buying this phone
Regarding screen issue i m one of tge victim. And has already changed my another n7p. Its my 2nd device of the same phone. N still isuue is there. But it will get resolved (i hope so) otherwise i will have to visit nokia care for display.
As this phone is rolling out to maximum no of countries it will take time to resolve the different issues faced by different person here. In others post or on reddit or even on nokia forum people are telling that they have visited with n7p n they did resolved the issue. So my guess is after sales service nokia is doing good.
Coming to your preference of buying the device it totally depends on u how much u want to spend. If u have a budget of 25k go for it. If u have more budget then wait for one+6. If ur budget it tight go for either Zenfone max pro or note 5 pro.
I have personally used rn5p and its an awesome device.(not with miui in my case).

People in India confuse warming and heating all the time. Any device with fast charging will warm up as a large amount of current is pushed into the battery. Anything under 45 degree Celsius is normal. Nokia provides a support app with the phone from where you can check the device's temperature.
Regarding display issues, yeah, there have been some but I feel those were issues with the first batch of devices. If you buy the device and find any issue with the display, just ask for a replacement from Amazon. They have replacement guarantee for 10 days.
As for the overall display, the display is tuned to be punchier that makes colors warmer and thus, you may find the whites to be a little yellow.
I would really suggest you to go to reliance digital or stores like that and see for yourself if they have a Nokia 7 plus on show so that you can check it.

Thanks buddy! Appreciate that. Well I have budget but I am bit uncertain on spending it on a device for which almost same hardware specs are out there at almost half of the price. I loved OnePlus5t but again it's too much for me. I am yet to fully utilize my 32 gb lenovo, that kindda user I am. So OP6 is in another league for me.
Well I am quiet considering RN5P 6GB variant against Nokia 7 plus. And yes, service center matters a lot. You can't guarantee what bad luck you carry!
BTW paying that much and compromising on issues is not what i think is good. I hope this screen issue is fixed in upcoming lots as I can see few of you have already reported it. and considering the sell volume, the percentage is quite a lot

My current Lenovo Vibe P1 is also with Fast charging support and believe me I know what heating means. You can iron your cotton cloths if my device is connected to charger, that much it heats up!
K.khiladi said:

Nah they don't have that much stock. Even i waited for about a week n no call from them about stock then only i opt out for amazon. N this screen issue may be fixed by further updates. Maybe m more concerned about it as i was using s8 previously. So lets see wether it get fixed or not. Anyway we have nokia care so not to worry that much

That orange android logo shouldn't happen. That's a faulty hardware. Anything under 45 degree is fine.
Right now, I am just browsing between few apps and the device temperature is 36 degree. If I do his while cheating, the temperature will go to 41 easily and if i watch videos or play game while charging, it will go even further upto 45.
That's why, playing games or watching videos( more so streaming videos) isn't advisable.

Umm... I guess Nokia underestimated the demand for the phone. Also, the first batches of phone have some QA issues sometimes.

so considering these few hardware issues, I think I should wait for couple of months more. Hope they will fix this in upcoming lot.

Hello All,
Here I am, a typical Indian consumer, looking for value for money as always.
Cheers!

Nokia 7 Plus( I've had it since 2nd May)-
1. Screen: My unit has no issues. Its punchy, vibrant and nicely visible in sunlight.
2. Battery: Amazing. Normal warming while charging is in every device today( unless you play games while charging; I also take off my case while charging so it hardly gets warm). Very well optimised battery. First phone of mine that I don't charge every day.
3. Service Centers: Xiaomi SC's are not bad. I've experienced with 3 of them from 3 different cities of Punjab. If you are polite to them, they return the favor. Don't know anything about Nokia ones yet.
4. Android One: You know about Nokia, HMD was amazing with updates even last year when they weren't Android One. This year will only get better. ALSO
ASUS in their launch event did not "PROMISE" 2 android updates and bimonthly security updates. THe word used by him were " Most likely". They can back off from that anytime.
5. Vibration intesnsity great... Speaker loudness is meh.
6. Camera: Not that better than RN5Pro. Besides, everyone and their aunties download Gcam on RN5Pro and N7Plus so its a moot point.
7. Value For Money: Nothing beats RN5Pro. DOn't buy Zenfone its bleh. Nokia7p is overpriced by about 4k.
I tried for RN5pro for 3-4 flash sales but couldn't so went for 7Plus. I don't regret it as its a great device.
So
Nokia 7Plus is better than RN5Pro.... but its not Rs 11k better... certainly NOT...

I feel it's their strategy. They don't wanna sell in heaps like xiaomi. 10 years back when Nokia was reigning, even then they used to charge premium for their phones. They still know that the brand name holds prominence. They want to be seen as a premium smartphone brand.
They already are a profitable company in India just after a year in market.

You could do the same on your OP6 which makes te difference the same again...
@marvi0:
I switched from an OP6 and haven't regretted it since. Yes, the OP6 is absolutely awesome and the UI is quite a lot faster than the Note 9(exynos) running Samsung Experience.
But the Note 9 still is impressively fast and of course full of features. It's a 'no concession' phone packed with everything you can think of, hard- and softwarewise. It's the feature packed OS and top quality hardware that do it for me. The speakers are awesome in contrast to the OP6's tinny speaker and the battery lasts all day everyday. Also the camera's are among the best the market has to offer, it takes stunning pictures.
But in terms of speed and stability it just can't compete with the OnePlus 6 running Oxygen OS. That thing is just insanely fast(especially unlocking it with fingerprint or face) and quite stable actually. When you're in an app there's no detectable difference, but any action that involves Oxygen OS just happens instantly. So if that's your thing and you don't care about (sometimes gimmicky) features too much, I'd stick with the OP6.
Also you should not expect the same 'power to the users' attitude from Samsung. They do listen to the community, but kind of do it on their own terms and only when they feel like it.
I have both, the note is international version, seriously day to day use I feel no real difference but differently the op6 is snappier. And oneplus is the newer phone in my hand, I just loved the red color and got it as a second phone BUT, U get what u pay for in this case, note 9 has a much better screen, longer battery life, huge difference in speakers and noeird software issues (for example I can't download pubg from the play store on my op6) plus of course the Samsung extras ip68 spen dex bla bla bla
If u need an advice go for the note, it's selling as the same price as op6t on eBay which is just crazy stupid since the OP suppose to be half the price

Hmm many thanks for your detailed reply. The note 9 you moved to is it the 6gb or 8gb variant?. I will be getting the 6gb variant and just like you I feel the extra features on Samsung do help overall, without even mentioning the ? spen. I think am definitely leaning towards a note 9 thanks.

Hi thanks. The note 9 you have is it the 6gb or 8gb variant?
I have both OP6(8,128) and Note 9(6,128).
For me, I use Note 9 to watch videos, becsuse it has a wonderful screen and powerful speakers.
I use OP6 to browse news, play games and communicate with others.IT IS SUPER FAST AND SMOOTH.
btw, I bring Note 9 to work. It is a nice tool, while OP6 is more likely a toy.
Get the Samsung note 9 it's almost as fast as the one us 6 or 6t lacked with more features

I moved from the 128/8GB OP6 to the 512/8GB Note 9. I do feel like the extra 2GB is a bit useless though. I rarely fill more than 6 GB's of RAM.

6gb my friend.
As said, note 9 is a great multifunctional tool, op6 it's a wonderful toy
I bought One plus 6 256 GB Storage 8 GB ram and using it 2 months then switch to Note 9 Exynos 6GB.
What I don't like
1. USB port sucks. only able to charge and transfer data. Can't connect with external devices.
2. If you root you get Widevine L3
3. Battery level sucks. almost not survive 1 day.
4. Only one speaker.
6. no wireless charge.
What I love.
1. It's extremely fast.
2. It's brick free. you can unbrick it by yourself.
3. Android Pie Stable ROM come very fast.
4. lack of bloatware.
5. Even you root your device. warranty won't void.
6. Dash charge is extremely fast.
7. OxygenOS is clean and stable.
The reason I change to Note 9 because mine was defect unit and I got a refund.
Mine was Widevine L3 no matter how I or Remote support guys were trying to fix it. It need to be sent to service center to fix it and it has none in Thailand.
If I can choose again I will choose one plus 6 and keep my extra money for something else.
Phew so based on you lovely guys views the note 9 has all the bells and whistles but it lacks the power and speed of the oneplus 6. That worries me though as speed does matter.

I have both the OP6T & Note 9.
The performance is comparable, any speed difference is negligible in daily use (unless you spend your days doing side-by-side comparisons,LOL).
If I had to choose,it's no contest, the Note 9 for the win.
If you value the S-Pen & Dex,the Note 9.
If not,save some $$$ & get the OnePlus,even going back to last year's OP5 or 5T.
I'm not picky on cameras,as long as the phone is quick to snap a relatively clear/sharp pic,it's all good to me.
If cameras are your thing, perhaps some Googling/YouTube search is in order for comparison.
Coming from someone who had the 6t and switched to the note 9 (paid $50 for restocking fee) I think the note 9 is a much better device. Hardware is better the battery is better, display is better and all those extra features are just the icing on the cake. Trust me.

The Note 9 does not lack speed. It's like the comparison between a BMW M5 and a Ferrari. The BMW does not lack speed at all, but the Ferrari remains quite a bit faster. The BMW however does do/have a ton of other practical things that a Ferrari can't.
And like I said, you'll only notice the difference in speed in UI actions and not when running apps. In terms of power the two devices are basically capable of doing the same thing because of their SOC's. However, you might want to go for a Note 9 if you're a gamer or use some heavy apps as it has liquid cooling. My OP6 did warm up quite a bit when running CAD apps or games like Asphalt 9, the Note 9 stays noticeably cooler.
Having owned both phones it's hard to say because both are really good phones and you can't go wrong with either or.

Very true, no other phone handles multitasking as well as Samsung flagships and especially the Note series! What I meant with capability of doing the same things was the performance of the SOC's.

From oneplus 6t to Rog2?

Hi all, i m currently using oneplus 6t and i was planning on upgrading to 7 pro, because of the bad speakers, bad haptics and the screen is not crispy, it looks faded... But the 7 pro screen is curved which is not something i like and the rog 2 looks like a really good phone.
But i have some concerns:
- System: how is the experience, smoothness, responsiveness and will it receive updates/custom roms ?
- screen: is it good in colors and crispiness ?
- size: how do you feel about the size? Does it fit your jeans pocket and easy to handle ?
Thank you!

I have the 6T as well. Have watched every review available for this device and IMO, it blows the 7 pro away. I have had the last 3 T variants of OP and I can say that they are going downhill, from a customer service standpoint. The 6T is the last OP device I will buy, simply because of how bad they fukd us on the 6T. Fool me once, but not twice. The ROG has everything I require from a device and then some. OP just has gimmicks. Not to mention the OP community is toxic AF. Hoping ASUS will re-instill my love of Android, cuz OP killed it for me

The phone is great especially the speakers And haptick feedback.
The screen colors and clarity is all great but brightness is average compared to the ROG phone I hope it gets better in a future update.
In terms of updates you are looking at every 3 months security updates and hopefully 2 major updates. The 1st generation ROG which I still have didn't get an update to Pie yet till now and it's already almost 1 year old but I think I will be getting it soon. In terms of rom support I think the ROG 2 will be getting much love from developers than the ROG phone (Didn't even get 1 single custom rom) mainly because the first was expensive, didn't launch in many markets and wasn't marketed that much but it's not the same case for the ROG 2 I hope fingers crossed :fingers-crossed:.
I think it will depend on your pocket size personally I have no issues with it but the phone is tall, in terms of weight not as heavy as people make it seem to be. So no issues in terms of that.
Good luck, I for sure recommend buying it especially the base model because it's the best in terms of value for bucks. Good luck!

Initially I was a little bit upset that it wasn't going to be globally available all at once. But at the same time, it's kind of nice being able to hear reviews from people who actually own the device, making my decision that much easier.
I am also on the 6t. I'm looking at the rog2 for the same reasons. Like the specs, 3.5 Jack, led, huge battery. I have missed the 5t since I went to the 6t
Hoping the Asus gets the developers nod!

Honestly torn between the ROG 2 or the OnePlus 7T

Hey guys. I've looked at the forums for the ROG 2 and honestly I'm torn between getting the ROG2 or the OnePlus 7T now...the ROG2 clearly has some software issues where the phone turns off by itself and the unsupported B20 band (800Mhz) for 4G coverage just screams future unpredicted problems to me. What would you guys say? Should I just save myself the troubles and go for the 7T? Are you guys satisfied with your ROG2 phones or should I go for the safer alternative, the OnePlus 7T?

I have zero software issues, my phone never turns off and if I don't play games it will last 3 days.
What do you need? A real gaming phone with average camera and killer everything else but no real dev support or a mainstream like any other phone with great dev support and very good all around?
I wouldn't trade Rog for one plus, I came from one plus. It's all about your personal needs.

I'm just looking for a phone with a bigger battery and a 120hz display. I'm coming from a Xiaomi Mi 9T. I've seen the S20 in real life and the 120Hz display just blew me away. Kinda hard to stick with 60Hz now. I don't really care that much for games or for the support, I just want the phone to work good overall. I don't make that many pictures, but I'm sure the ones I would take would be more than good enough. The only thing I worry about now is the cellular support as my carriers support only 800Mhz band and 1800Mhz band. The phone however does not support 800Mhz or B20. I've got an option to buy an unused global edition ROG2 for just 520 euros so I think it's worth it.

I absolutely love my ROG Phone 2. Had it for several months now (since September) and have had zero software issues or restarts or anything like that. I have the Tencent 8gb/128gb model and am in the USA on AT&T and have zero signal or bandwidth/speed issues! And the battery life is just... Well... There's literally no other device on the market that can compete with it on battery life!

Great, I'm glad I'm not the only one that was deciding between these two. I have an option to buy a new unused Rog2 global edition for 520 euros or the OnePlus 7T for 570 euros. I'll go with the ROG2. Thanks!

ROG Phone 2 supports B20 (at least global version does, cant speak for tencent as I'm not sure)
Seriously where is this OnePlus has better camera came from !
With device camera all the reviews on YouTube came to the conclusion that Asus is better and with gcam it's even better than my note 10!

Coming from a OnePlus 7 pro. That device had a terrible camera. Even OnePlus admitted that they are not satisfied with the camera performance..
I was trying to decide between the 7T and ROG 2 and went with ROG 2. Been using it for the past two months. One of the biggest issues I face is with the display, and had I known this before buying I wouldn't have picked this. It made me unable to watch my shows before sleeping, but hopefully this'll get fixed with Android 10.
Other problems include extremely slow software support (and with a high chance of 10 being the last version), minimal customisation options, and the weight. The weight becomes really noticeable and starts hurting your arms if you're trying to use the phone while lying on the back (so another stab at my shows, though I hope it'll buff me up xD)
Edit: Also, I can't figure out why there's zero dev support (no custom ROMs)... I don't plan on rooting my phone or swapping ROMs yet, but I'd like to have the option to do so. Surprised that there isn't one right now.
Another Edit: Oh, and I absolutely can't figure out the hype with 120Hz... I tried it for a couple days, but found it hardly worth anything, especially with the phone incapable of putting out 120 fps on most proper games, the the only real benefit can be observed during scrolling at which point it becomes pointless, so I just turned it off for better battery/performance.
I just use 90Hz most of the time to get most of the benefits without the problems.
B20 is available if you get the 12GB model. There are no issues with it suddenly turning off.
Not a perfect phone but does everything that I want of it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I completely disagree, especially about 120 fps. I've noticed absolutely no difference in battery life by using 120 FPS vs 60 fps (I regularly get 11 to 13 hours of screen on time with general use on 120 fps) and now that I've used 120 fps on a phone I find 60 fps atrociously slow/laggy/choppy, especially during scrolling. It makes any device using 60fps feel horrible now. 120 fps is a massive improvement. Yes I'll agree not many games support 120 fps on Android yet, but the ones that do are so smooth.

(Edit: Misunderstood quote... Response removed)
Well, the games I play hardly hit 60 fps at high settings at which point they start guzzling the battery and heat up the phone. As for the scrolling (as I've already mentioned), agreed, but I'm not in the habit of constantly scrolling at high speeds.
And to note, frame rate and refresh rate are different things. Frame rate is on the software front and refresh rate is on the hardware front. Both need to match for the best experience. You can use game genie to see the frame rate you're actually getting.

If only we get a good custom kernel for Android 10. It should increase the performance to close the gap with SD865, i get around 516k in antutu, and I've seen the xaiomi mi 10 getting around 537k in a YouTube review. There's a chance to overclock this device because it has good cooling compared to my previous OnePlus 7 pro.
Anyways, custom roms are usually very buggy and stock rom isn't lacking in any way, it has everything you'll find in any custom rom, plus some features that might not fully work on custom roms.
And btw, i do not have that screen issue that you've mentioned above.. mine is 12/512 elite version.
It's the overall best android phone I've used so far, and I've been using it since October. Battery life is awesome ? even with x mode and 120hz both on all the time.

Wow! Really?! Geez, now I wonder if I should get a replacement...
But 10 pages of complaints, and their acknowledgement of the issue on Twitter...

Seems like the Tencent version or the first version that came in July is the most affected by this issue than the second/elite version. But yes, my screen is fine.
Dear all,
I have removed some off topic posts from this thread. Please remember our rules when you post. Thanks.

I'll be getting the 8gb 128gb global edition and hopefully it's not defect in any way! Should be better than my Xiaomi Mi 9T in any case lmao.
I have both rog 2 and 1+ 7T pro 5G.
I've used the 1+ for maybe a few hours total. Screen/battery life/ user experience feels better on my rog

Question Time to return

After spending just over a week with the FX3 pro think it's time to return it can't say I am blown away with it and don't feel it's a worthy successor to the FX2 pro
Battery life not that good having to quick charge at least twice to make it through the day ,
Camera has decent detail but colours are over saturated and not natural at all
Microscope lense is just pointless gimmicky lense and pretty useless in day to day use and hard to get a good in focus shot most of the time , detail quality reduces significantly when using zoom , again 10 bit photos is gimmicky when only the phone can display them at 10bit and when uploading to social media the quality is reduced to 8 bit anyway , performance for a SD 888 is disappointing this could be down to software optimization but stuttery web pages Facebook etc isn't grate and as mentioned Google feed is horrid considering its practically exact spec as the OnePlus 9 pro the bench marks are a lot less , maybe adaptive 120hz is to blame and not optimized correctly and even certain sites and apps just ain't optimized for high refresh rates , my 12 pro max with 60hz is smoother than 120hz on most social media and websites probably why apple have not jumped on the high refresh ban waggon admittedly swiping around the OS is a breeze but sadly that's were it ends , the chrome finish on the glossy black is just a step backward when most 2021 flagships are going for Matt finishes as the fingerprint and smudges are ridiculous on this device , sadly it's to many cons and that's just the major ones so will be retuning the device under my 28 day change of mind policy with the network , not being negative I'm sure most will be satisfied with the device but those things just make me think it's not worth the price tag that goes with it , and if you already have the X2 pro it's definitely not worth the upgrade yet
Wow what a shame that your journey with the FX3 turned out to be such a bad one.
I can't relate to most of your issues since my device is spot on from day 1
No lag or stutter and flawless benchmark scores, guess I am lucky and you got a Monday morning device.
Yes definitely or a Friday phone Lol should of known better than go with Chinese device , oh well on ward and upward

Only reason for me was the SD888 since I've had it with the Exynos issues by Samsung.
I did get the S21 Ultra 512Gb version first but that was a disappointment as well. It was a step back for me after the FX2Pro
Now I'm thinking about importing a SD version of the S21 Ultra, just not sure if that could give other issues on the Dutch networks
Yr I was looking at 21 ultra but a Friend had it for couple weeks and sent back due to camera not that grate although it's had a few updates since release and looking over on the forum camera updates so possibly better now and although previous exynos chips have been a let down against SD I think this time around it's slightly better not on par quiet but nearly but now you have said that I'm having second thoughts lol it's that or the dark side 12 pro Max , or stick with the x3 pro and see what updates address

Exynos 2100 is definitely not on oat with SD888 at least not with the S21 ultra. Had it for about a week and gladly returned it. My SD865 powered FX2Pro was performing much better compared to the Exynos powered S21U
I have no doubt" I'm just going on what bench comparison reviews I've seen yes still not as good but better than the S20 ultra's 990 was Vs 865 , Samsung slowly improving there chips , the one thing putting me of the 12 pro max is 60z going back from 120hz is horrid although I had the standard 12 prior to the x3 pro briefly after a few days you generally re adjust to 60hz as iOS is fairly buttery Smooth you do notice the odd stutter but what you loose in fluidnis you gain in battery so it's a question of trade offs and personal preference suppose camera samples do look better on the 12 pro max than s21 ultra more natural but does loose out to the s21 ultras video recording again it's what your willing to trade in one area to gain in another I personally very rarely even record video so not a big deal id rather have a better quick point and shoot cam, yes 21 ultra can do more and has multiple lenses and zooms but anything over 15x just starts to loose detail anyway so 108mp is pretty useless past that , decisions decisions one thing thought I'm really enjoying the 65w charging on X3 pro blazing fast and plugging in for 10 mins I'm good again for hrs I would definitely miss that if decide to exchange just wish the Sony 1 MK 3 was already out and I wouldn't have such hard time deciding as O2 have limited options to go for and nothing really new on the horizon for some time yet ,

Why don't you just keep the x3 for another year? What do you not like about it?

I miss the OneUI from Samsung devices and only reason I switched was the bad Exynos chip.
I miss the feeling I've got from the FX2Pro and the fact it did feel a bit more polished compared tot the FX3Pro
However I'll stick with the FX3Pro for a while to see what Oppo can do for us with firmware updates. As mentioned the latest firmware crippled my device when it comes to battery and performance, hoping they will fix this.
With previous firmware my device scored over 800000 point running Antutu 9, the latest firmware somewhere between 650 and 700000
Now I know benchmarks don't mean **** and real-life performance matters but also in real-life the performance dropped with latest firmware.
So if Oppo finds a way to fix the performance and battery drain with next update I'm cool.
Other small glitches on software side I can live with ( or solutions can be found )
Yeah, OneUI is almost perfect. Very customizable, especially with good lock.
Performance (s10+) wasn't that great though. My wife's s20 is still very choppy with 120hz activated.
And the fingerprint scanner on the s10 and s20 are terrible.
Oh, they should also start improving charge speeds! I can never go back to a 25W charger!
Seems a lot of mixed scores hear are my results Antutu 9.0.5

Hey, may I know how the FX3 pro fares currently?
Planning to buy one or wait for the reno7pro/s21fe. Wanna move away from Xiaomi now. The 1+ 9pro does not have certain 5g bands i need
I am going to return it too in the end..battery life isn't that great and no root etc. Zoom pics not so sharp. But the other alternative is s21exynos but I doubt with fine tuning will go worse than my actual immortal s10 For the high temp I usually downcloak from kernel ..so i think it will be ok.
