Tencen 8/128 (Global rom with b28) - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

I have seen many users having a tencent version 8/128 with band 28 connectivity using global rom.
Could you post some screenshot in this thread as a proof.
Thank You

Wether B28 can be activated or nope is a question I'm also dying to see answered

Please confirm which frequencies the 4X (global) has?

Hello, my Redmi 3S couldn't get 4G in Japan, while another Android did. From what i captured, the 2100mhz frequencies was the difference. Though i may be mistaking. So which frequencies does the 4X global version has?
Try using this? This worked fine for me
https://willmyphonework.net
EDIT:
Found this on GSMArena
not sure which model this is though
Your info applies to the versions made for China, Malaysia, Pakistan and not "Global Version".
The global version is advertised with the following LTE frequencies: 800/850/900/1700/1800/2100/2300/2600MHz
Whatever it's advertised with, it may come with different features.. The Redmi 5 was advertised with NFC and in the end doesn't have it! I checked that website & it says YES i should get 4G in Japan with Docomo for both 3S & 4X.. So this is not accurate for me!

Xiaomi Mi9 TE versions and differences

Hello everyone!
As far as I know there are two versions of the Transparent Edition Mi9
8/256GB and 12/256GB. The 12GB model was the first one with the difference in the storage and RAM and it has a 7P elements 48mp camera instead of the 6P on regular Mi9 models and it has a bigger aperture one as well with F. 47.
On March 22nd Xiaomi released the 8/256GB TE model which has the same camera tech as a regular Mi9 but it has the B20 LTE modem which is used in Europe.
Does anyone know something about this? Am K true? That the 8/256GB model is the 'global' version of the Mi9 TE?
If anyone knows something about this please let me know!
No band 20 on either TE versions, as far as I'm aware...
Where did you read this?
On some websites written in my mother language (Hungarian). They were totally sure about the B20 in the 8/256GB model

frequency band 20

I bought an 8RAM 128 GB MI9 with firmware CHN/ENG. LTE reception is limited. Can frequency band 20 be enabled when switching to Global Rom?

sorry to hear that, you can try but its highly unlikely cos its hardware related, I bought the 8gb Chinese version no 4g in UK with O2 network so returned it and bought the global version and in this one no problems with 4g, cheers

No you can't enable it. There is only one way. Sell your Chinese version and buy a global one if you need band 20.

Model numbers/regions - which is which?

My Red Magic 3 arrived yesterday, must say very speedy delivery, 3 days only DHL express to Australia which was excellent.
I'm having trouble identifying the different models though, I've seen reference to a Chinese (CN), Global, EU but also 'NA' versions?
Not sure if some are the same thing? I'm concerned as from what I can tell, the EU version doesn't have LTE Band 28 (which I want) but the NA version does and I'm not sure what version I have other than it was branded NX629J.
https://global.redmagic.gg/pages/red-magic-3-specs (under 'Connectivity')
Can anyone assist please?

Yes but the LTE bands can make a big difference! Two of the major Australian mobile carriers use Band 28 so I'm trying to work out which version of the Red Magic 3 I have and if it has that band.

Try this link
https://global.redmagic.gg/blogs/news/red-magic-3-global-rom-flash-instructions
There is two version of global rom
Us is version 1.11
Europe version is 2.07
Well I have NA version but running EU Rom v2.09....when I run the CN Rom I don't get LTE just 4g. So if you not getting LTE then install your region global Rom.
LTE bands are a hardware limitation, not software, so it won't matter what rom I'm running.
I'm just trying to find out if my model has band 28 or not!
https://www.frequencycheck.com/mode...emium-edition-dual-sim-td-lte-cn-128gb-nx629j
In theory software and hardware, I will tell you In US on CN Rom no LTE just 4g....but on either Global I Get LTE.

Question Global Version Vs Chinese Flased with global

I need a new phone ASAP as my phone died, I am waiting for a month for the global version but nothing comes out.
I was wondering what are the differences between global version to the Chinese version flashed with a global rom.
Thanks!
Basically, 2 main differences:
1) Global ROM vs China ROM: Global ROM supports more languages whereas the China ROM has fewer (English is supported).
2) 4G/5G Bands: Global version of the phone supports more bands than the China version.
Hope that helps!
Info about bands isn't true.
Both version of phone - CN and Global/European - are hardware equal / identical.

I don't think that's true. I've flashed Global, EU and China ROM on my China model.
I've yet to see band 66 being used. With my Pixel 4 XL that was the main band I used at my house. If China had band 66 like global does I would have seen it by now.
It still works fine without it though. Maybe it's a firmware modem thing with band support and not hardware but either way. China model will not get the same bands.
China model definitely lacks the 66 band according to kimovil.

This is what makes me hesitate being in the US on T-Mobile. Concerned if the area where I am uses the 66 band.

The Pro is China only.
The ultra is a global model so it may have all the bands.
Does they both have Google services natively?

The ultra has the Gms framework installed
All you have to do is download the Google playstore from xiaomis app store and install it
Then you can get everything you need and it will work
The China version doesn’t have the same bands. Also the firmware is different and you will get the odd glitches with your apps & some apps/services won’t work properly.
The global is out very soon across U.K. & Europe.

There's no glitches whatsoever in the CH rom. The CH rom is more optimised anyway. You just need to fiddle around with some notification settings
Can anyone confirm if Google Pay, Banking Apps and Pokémon GO will work with the Global ROM on CN phone from alibabab? (I am assuming no since the bootloader is most likely unlocked?)

You are totally right. Also the battery life will always be better on CH roms. The global versions just seem better for some people because users don't put the effort to understand MIUI settings. Global roms just leave some MIUI options at predefined values so that users don't have to tackle with them but battery takes a hit.
I used to try to stay on the China ROM on my Mi 10 Ultra but there where many apps that was impossible to get to work as they should. For example work-applications that is protected under "intune".
China-ROM closed them down even if I choosed NOT to have them "optimized" etc.... It was so bad that I could not use the phone for work at all.
After flashing Xiaomi.eu it has been working decent.

Chinese is cheap because it is packed full of services they can monetize BUT ONLY in china
search engines, shopping sites, payment apps and gateways, cloud storage, games and paid themes etc
They can sell the phones nearly at cost price and make their profit on the user over the lifetime of the device
Global costs about $500 more because they can't make money from all those other streams of revenue , so they need to make their money from the hardware sale alone
The hardware is identical tho....
Buy the Chinese 12/512 if you can get one cheap and flash the global or Eu ROM yourself is optimal
Isn’t there a lack of a few bands on the China version vs global as well.
4G bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 32, 38, 40, 41, 42, 66 - International
4G bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 - China
5G bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41, 77, 78, 79 SA/NSA - International
5G bands 1, 3, 28, 41, 77, 78, 79 SA/NSA - China

Do not write stupid things if you do not know for sure. Identical hardware does not mean you can transfer CN version to Global. How do you think the global version is much more expensive than CN one? The problem is you can install Global Version of ROM to CN version but you DO NOT change Bands supported by both Versions.
Regards
