Order delayed at Amazon - Google Pixel 4 Guides, News, & Discussion

It appears Amazon is delaying at least some of the preorders of the Pixel 4 in orange until sometime between late November and January. I preordered on the first day (October 15) and just received an email that my phone won't be coming anytime soon. It was scheduled to be delivered today. I ordered it with the $100 Amazon GC, which has already shipped. Anybody else get a similar email from Amazon?

Lots of people. Take a look at the 4xl thread. People being charged $100 for the gift card if they cancel the order too. Basically screwed by Amazon if you want the device in a timely fashion.

I'm curious if you'd be able to do a chargeback for false advertisement or something.
I'm sure you could but they'd probably block you or something for purchasing phones in the future.

I'm honestly not surprised. This also happens with PC hardware orders very regularly. I've just learned to avoid trying to buy any newly released electronics from them. Sorry to see you're going through this. :/

Mine arrived 1 day ahead of time.

My Amazon package even lost somehow with courier 2 days ago...

Is there any benefit buying it from Google Play?

Just to clarify, is there any particular benefit from ordering it from Google, as opposed to Ebuyer for example?
Certainly is to me.
If I have a problem, I don't want some other company in the middle.
I don't think you get the extra's like the £15 credit & the film unless you buy from Google.
Okay, so the £9 I could save getting it from Ebuyer is not really worth it?
ebuyer seem to suggest we do get the £15 credit - I didn't notice it when I ordered, I think it's been added since.

However, I cannot seem to find the footnote for the asterisk besides the line stating the £15 voucher :/
Yeah there's no footnote that I can see either. I'm sure they'll soon open a discussion thread for it, and plenty of people will be asking. I made the decision to order it from ebuyer not expecting to get the credit but it will be a nice bonus if I do. Delivery time was more important to me.
I couldn't find the * as well but if you look at the banner on the right hand side it doesn't show one
I used quidco and got 2% cash back (£4). Not much but every bit helps.
£196 for the tablet with £15 credit and free delivery. :good:
The credit and freebies seem
to be included with US retail sales. (Staples advertises the credit). I'm guessing that sales out of the US may or may not include them - but that there will be no difference between Google Play or third party sellers.
I assume that the main advantage is delivery time.
Google is presumably walking a tightrope, trying to both ensure consumer access to its hardware with Play, and trying to not undercut the retail channels it is wooing.
D'oh - Well spotted
This is the sort of discussion the stickies are for.

I'm assuming you're meaning for sale in physical stores, right ?! Because Ebuyer UK already shipped a few hundred pre orders last Friday. Got mine this morning.

Got an email from PC World to say they are processing my order today, hopefully being shipped tomorrow. Pre-ordered mine online.
Hey mate,
Ive been checking for a good few days now. Last week HMV said they would have it on the 16th, so i preordered with them, but went yesterday and they couldn't give me a straight answer on when they would be getting stock.
Pc World/Currys didn't even have a clue whilst carphone warehouse said it would be a few months for them. There also seems to be no advertising for it, although, the nexus 7 was plastered all over the newspapers from Google themselves asking to visit Google Play.
fyi, this was in central London

Getting the shaft from Google Play regarding your N4 order? File a complaint!

A company cannot state an order has been shipped, when in fact it has not.
Google has sent out UPS tracking to numerous customers stating that their system has not updated, yet the status on Google Play/Wallet shows as shipped. I contacted Google and they stated that this orders would not be shipping for at least 2 weeks or longer. A company cannot state that an order has been "Shipped" when it doesn't plan to for some time.
File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission if you are one of these irate customers. Let your voice be heard!

First of all, there's already a shipping thread so you should have posted this there.
Second of all, I'm trying to understand what you're saying. Google sent out tracking numbers and updated the status on some peoples' Google Wallet accounts saying that their phone shipped when it has not? Or you didn't get a tracking number like others did but your Wallet account says shipped?
If it's the former, yeah that's pretty jacked up. If it's the latter, well, annoying but a glitch/mistake that will be rectified and didn't harm you. I don't see where you have a valid complaint though if when you contacted Google they owned up to the mistake and told you that it hadn't in fact shipped. If they kept you on the hook for three weeks saying that it's shipping or something like that then file a complaint. Anything else is just you lashing out for getting your hopes up.
EDIT: Also, your statement that a company *cannot* do something needs to be backed up with outside information. As far as I can tell that's a decision that you made.
This will achieve nothing
Viewing threads like this on my N4 is pretty funny.

From now on, all new threads in the Nexus 4 General section related to shipping, back orders, Google customer service, or ANYTHING else related to ordering/receiving your N4 from the Play Store will be closed without notice. Use the main shipping thread found here, or use one of the existing backorder or country-specific threads.

Got the Nexus 7 when first came out, had to be replaced because it was faulty and as soon I got this I put it inside a case and never seen the back of it again. Until today.
Never dropped it or opened it. I would like to get a pogo pin dock for it.
Has anyone seen anything like it?
Bought it from tesco UK, who should I contact for warranty?
Thanks

It's time for another replacement if you in fact want a pogo dock for it.
RMA, my friend, RMA.
[It makes me laugh. A lot.]
Yea RMA bro.
That being said, lol at the hole.
Beamed from my Maguro.

All your legal rights are against the retailer.
Sucks. Contact the retailer you bought it from.
Practical question: is there a POGO dock for this available? ...

If you want it sorted quickly, exchange it at the tesco direct collection desk (Tesco Extra stores). This is what I did and was hassle free.
At least here in the states local Walmart stores normally has a 15 day return policy. Besides Christmas time when they extend that time frame.
I am not sure how the return policies work in the UK. But if you are within the days they allow you to return an item. You should be able to exchange the device for new one.
If you are past the time they allow you to return an item. You have no choice but to send in the device under RMA.
If you bought the device through google you have to ask them for replacement. If you bought the device through a retail store you'll have to ask a Asus for replacement.
I hope this answers your question.

Why can't google get ordering right?

Once again google ordering system as failed me. My all access music at 7.99 was doing fine billing to my T-Mobile account well not anymore it had a problem and where it could not renew and lost the special pricing within a few days. So I give up spent 2 hours trying to work with google to fix this and I can't ever get the pricing back. And my account renew last month fine.
Another even better issue is I have ordered about 30 nexus 4's and most were from the play store but at some point I found it cheaper to just order a replacement and I didn't have to pay tax saved like 30 bucks. I would just not send back the original wait to get billed. Well lets just say there is a about 3,000 dollars (I never paid for them I know) worth of phones just pending it's been like 6 months or more for most. I thought it had to do with a expired card which is not expired (this is related to the music all access problem I had to update card info) even with a brand new card orders still have not moved.
I'm done with paying google for any services they are too big to have such a stupid system.
Let me get this straight...
You ordered a few replacements and failed to send the original phones back to Google. At which point they kept billing you full price for the new phones they were sending you, accruing to "$3,000" that you still owe Google. Meanwhile, you don't understand why they will no longer honor your $7.99/month all access pricing after your last $7.99 payment failed. And in the end you are angry that Google can't get their "ordering" right?
Your logic is astounding...

fix YOUR own issues of not paying what YOU owe, or google isnt going to be the only one thats ignoring you.
Lol good that you are done with Google services. They deserve better buyers. Now pay what u owe Google before start whining again.
