Bluetooth anything won't connect - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Anybody experiencing issues with BT? I'm unable to connect to Sony speaker, Galaxy Buds (Wearables app is installed)
The speaker shows up as available devices but when I click on the name, it doesn't go any further. The Buds show up in Wearables app but also, won't go past clicking on name.
I transferred data from Galaxy S10+ when I set up the phone. Basically chose all settings, etc. That shouldn't be a problem, right?
I don't want to factory reset if I don't have to. There seems to be nothing about issues online.

I reinstalled Samsung app and reset. That seemed to get Buds to work even though I reset after installing first time.
BT speaker worked after that same reset. Again, it was the 2nd reset. I can't remember having to reset before trying to find a BT device each time.

I'm noticing the same with my Nokia Steel HR watch. My Galaxy buds however did pair fine

There are a handful of BT devices that, for some reason with my Pixel 4 XL, I have to go into airplane mode and back out again to connect. Turning off/on BT itself doesn't work... but airplane mode off/on does.

This doesn't work for me. My Skullcandy Bluetooth ear buds will not connect to my 4xl. It doesn't even see them. My OnePlus 6t immediately pairs with them. I've tried toggling airplane mode. Nothing works.
Edit added: After flashing stock boot.img and then patching it again with magisk canary and toggling airplane mode I finally got my headphones to pair. I was using Clean Slate kernel before. Not sure if it was related. What I did do that I believe helped was I saw that my phone saw my Fitbit watch so I paired to that and then my Skullcandy headphones all the sudden were visible. Weird!

Blue tooth connection issues?

Hey guys,
My tmobile one wont auto connect to my cars stereo. It will pair but then it wont automatically connect when I turn the car on. Even when I force connection in the menu it sometimes wont connect and if it does it takes forever.
I have tried blue tooth auto connect from the play store and that doesn't really help.
This has been happening since I got the phone and have tried a variety of roms. My nexus 4 never had this issue.
Any way to fix it? Anyone have the same problem?
If anyone is curious I drive a Subaru WRX.
I have similar issue connecting to eclipse avn. I didn't have any issues before with defy and nexus s. Sometimes it connects fine though not sure where the problem is. Thanks

Try to update your bluetooth car stereo software if applicable. I had same problem with my Alpine Headset. Most likely, problem is your headset, not your phone.
I had this issue at one point. I had to factory reset the handset. After I did that, I repaired and it connected automatically from then on out.
I had this issue with my Blue&Me system in my car, and to fix it, I have to reset and delete my user profile on the car.
After, I re-pair my phone and everything is good to go. Strangely, I need to do that every time I reset my Bluetooth preferences in my phone. (from Rom updates, etc.)
Give it a try.

Bluetooth Connected (no media)

I recently got a new Nexus 6 and I'm having bluetooth connection issues specifically in my car. Bluetooth will connect but when it connects it shows "Bluetooth connected (no media)". So I can make phone calls over bluetooth in my car but my phone won't play media (waze/gps, local music, streaming music, etc). I have no problems connecting via bluetooth to a portable bluetooth speaker at home. Previously I had a Nexus 5 that I had no problems connecting to my car's bluetooth and making phone calls or playing media.
I've searched forums/google and have disassociated the pairing multiple times, ensured that 'Media audio' is checked in the bluetooth paired device settings, deleted the bluetooth cache, rebooted and nothing seems to resolve the (no media) issue.
It's strange because everything was fine with my old Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6 works fine with my separate portable bluetooth speaker but it won't play through my car's bluetooth. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks!
Anyone?

Sorry I don't have an answer, but you're not alone. I have exactly the same issue. Normally seems to solve itself when I manually turn BT off, then back on. But I hate to do that because it disconnects by Moto 360 and screws up a lot of other Tasker profiles that trigger from connecting to my car audio sytem. Sometimes I have to completely reboot the phone to make it work. I've tried a lot of things, but no luck yet. Hope someone knows the answer!
I had this problem one time before. Try bluetooth autoconnect. A2DP seems to not be running on your phone.
I'm having the same issue - brand new and it doesn't want to work on either of my phones I'm questioning the Integrity of the cheap $20 Walmart bluetooth car head unit
Is there a resolution for this problem? I've got the same issue as the op going on...
it can only be one of 3 things;
-your rom
-your kernel
-your vehicles bluetooth version
you can change/fix the first 2 things, but the third one is an expensive fix..
I'm running stock on the Nexus 6. It's not even rooted. Searching on this problem, there are posts that go back a few years. I figure with so many people running into this problem, someone must be working on a solution. I guess it's easier to just plug in the auxiliary cable?
I have the same issue . connected but no media. It worked properly after I re-booted the phone. We shouldn't have to do that so this bug needs fixing.
I have this problem with my new pioneer mvh-36bt deck. Only when I'm on a custom ROM though. I'd goto more options check all the boxes. Then clear Bluetooth memory on deck then it works. When I'm on stock rooted image no problems.
I had a similar issue when I switched from. Nexus 6 to 6P. In my case it turned out to be that there can be only 2 portable Bluetooth players that can be connected to my car multimedia. Deleting one of the 2 portable players and re pair Bluetooth resolved my issue
My Nexus 6 is the only Bluetooth device synced in the my car. I've tried deleting and re-pairing, turning the phone off and back on, turning Bluetooth off and back on, and nothing seems to work. :/

I have the same problem. My N6 never had any BT issues until I bought my new car today and tried to pair. My friend's iPhone worked just fine, so I'm pretty sure it's something in N6 that's the problem. Call function works but no media. This is very frustrating...

Curious if you've selected gear icon, in BT screen by device name, after paired AND while connected to view / enable all relevant options?
Sometimes when I pair I must manually update the BT access, though rarely. I presume manufacturer pairing settings (external device, not N6) don't default to all available options. Can't hurt to make sure media etc. is enabled. Good luck.

Yea, they are all checked, but it doesn't make any differences. BT also keeps losing connection. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Oddly enough, when I connected my phone to BT speaker today, no media or phone cnxn. Took my own advice and checked the BT settings. All were checked.
Unchecked then rechecked phone and media. Slight delay after uncheck before system let me reselect. Voila! Phone and media cnxn restored. BT was connected whole time.

Yes! My 1 week old Nexus 6P same issue. But all other bluetooth device pair xcellent, shows and plays media!
OK, I got mine to work on my 2011 Lexus by first pairing it as a phone then pairing it as a Bluetooth media player. Works great! Frustrating that I had to do it that way, but I'm happy I don't have to plug my N6 into the microphone jack anymore.
This thread might be dead but I found it when I searched for a solution and so will be others.
I got a Kenwood DDX5016BT in my car. When you connect a new device it will just work as a phone. To enable media you have to go settings and register it as a Bluetooth device. It right on top of the iPod settings. Hope this helps anyone or even me in a few months lol

Bluetooth issue

Dear all
First post so here goes. Had my 7 plus exactly a week.
Specs as follows:
Model TA 1055
Android 8.1
1st June 2018 Security patch
unrooted but themed with Substratum (Swift Black)
So my phone won't detect either my amazon bluetooth adapter plugged into my bedside radio or my creative bluetooth speakers. My lenovo p2 can find these without issue. Strangely it can connect to my PC's bluetooth which gives a passcode. I've cleared bluetooth cache and still not fixed. Anybody else had bluetooth issues?
TA-1046 here with June patch and I have bluetooth issues as well.
I was not able to connect my Gear S3 smartwatch to my phone, untill I decided to turn off BT and turn it back on again.
Suddenly it worked.
Then I was not able to update my S3 apps from the Samsung App Store, untill I stopped BT and turned it back on again.
It seems to me that there is a BT issues in the June patch.
How it was before, I don't know as I received this phone 2 days ago and it updated automatically to June update.
Sorry for adding more negativity to this forum than assistance.
I am also having similar problem with connecting to my LG sound bar. It picks it up when i search, saves it but does not connect.
BT issues
Well unfortunately I have to say same. BT even can't see any device during scanning. Other devices each between other works. Other devices also see N7+ and can pair with it. Seems like scanning doesn't work for me on N7+.
I tried reset networks, clear BT cache couple of times - didn't changed anything. Still wanna avoid factory reset.
No mods, no root.
I'm bit surprised (in the sad way) by this device :-/
In the meantime BT has worked quite well for a couple of days, untill today.....
I could connect to my Gear S3, but not much later I notice new notifications on my phone but no popup on my watch.
It turned out that BT was not connected anymore.
Manually connected and the same process happens again.
Untill I rebooted my phone. From then on, my watch stayed paired with the phone and didn't loose connection.

Try resetting your Gear S3 to factory defaults and remove BT settings on phone.
(also clear BT cache).
I had to set up my watch a couple of times.
Still it disconnects sometimes, but then a normal reboot of the phone helps to get the connection back.
Submitted this to another thread, but I'll copy paste it here.
I recently got Bluetooth headphones and found that playback easily got choppy if a part of my body was in between my headset and phone, or if the phone got locked. I did find a solution to this however, and not sure if it would work for everyone that has Bluetooth issues as well.
It seems as if Bluetooth has its own app on Android 8.1, and due to this, it's getting managed by Doze or the automatic app power saving that's on by default. I switched off battery management using the following steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Apps & Notifications
3. Tap on the option that says "See all x apps"
4. Tap on the top right hand 3 dots.
5. Tap on "Show system"
6. Scroll down until you find "Bluetooth" and tap on it
7. Tap on Battery
8. Tap on Battery Optimisation
9. Press the blue dropdown that should say "Not optimised", and select "All apps"
10. Find Bluetooth again, tap on it.
11. Optimise should be ticked, tick "Don't Optimise" instead, then press Done.
My Nokia 7 plus cannot find other Bluetooth devices.
I cleared cache, went to battery optimisation settings, ticked on the Bluetooth icon and selected *"Don't optimise"* turned on my Bluetooth to search for other devices and still this same problem persists. Can't find other Bluetooth devices including phones, tablets and headsets. I'm really confused on why there should be such a problem. I don't want to Reset to Factory settings. But I'm not being left with any other choice. I'm so upset that I have to spend so much and yet other cheap phones can search for other devices so easily.. please I need a solution immediately

Bluetooth Connectivity

Hi all. I'm having alit of problems with my Bluetooth not connecting or not keeping connection.
1. Airpods not keeping connection.
2. My Fitbit Versa can't connect at all.
Just wondering if anybody else has this problem.
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
I'm using it with several bluetooth peripherals, like UE Boom 2 and Jabra Elite 65T with no issues whatsoever. The connection is good, never got dropped.
I haven't tried with wearables so can't say much about it.
I'm not having any issues with my Fitbit Ionic. That said, a few others at the Fitbit community are stating they have Note 9/Fitbit issues. (I have no issues with any other bluetooth device.)
Thank you answering. My Airbud issues have gone away but my Fitbit verge is still acting up.
Hopefully there is a fix for this soon.

No problems with my mini Jambox, Gear Fit Pro2, Sony and AKG headphones and my car's SYNC.
I'm having problems with the AirPods and my 512GB Exynos model:
Only when the phone is on a 2G network. Then the sound starts stuttering to the point that it cuts out completely. ALso the AirPods don't disconnect, they'll just cut out the sound. The Note 9 still detecs them as properly connected.
My Philips SBH7150 and Bose QC35II have no issues at all.
Can anyone with AirPods try to set their phone to 2G only and test this out?
So either folks have dropouts when the Note 9 or they don't? I've got Bose QC35II and a 9. When I put the phone in my back pocket I get cutouts. I did not have this issue with the Note 8.
Any opinions?
I did reset the BT app .. dumped data/cache and repaired to the Bose. It made no difference.
Never had this issues with my Note 9, had more bluetooth issues with my S7E but the way I fixed it was going to Apps > Show system apps>Bluetooth, the go into Bluetooth options and clear data/cache, maybe that will fix it for you. You'll probably lose paired bluetooth devices though, and need to re-pair.

Yeah, did that and rebooted the phone then re-paired the Bose QCII's with it.. It didn't help much. But the good news is I don't get drops when it's in my front pocket just the back pocket. I guess it's just how it is at the moment.
Thanks.
Old thread, but my s9 has horrible BT range. With airpods, even if I put my phone in my coat pocket, not pants pocket, the signal drops.
I know the airpods are good, they worked fine with my s9 plus.

Bluetooth earbuds can't connect.

Hello, after 2 and a half years using the phone and not having big issues, just the known (red tint screen etc) and saying that the phone itself still stands good, i now have a problem. I just purchased the Creative outlier air v2 earbuds and i simply can't connect them to Nokia 8. Phone hasn't been tweaked , is stock Android 9 with the last October update. The phone discovers them i pair them, i hear the "pair successful" from the earbuds but they don't connect , instantly they appear in "Saved Earbuds" section in Bluetooth settings and the earbuds flash as they supposed to when they are disconnected from a device.
I tried pretty much everything i can find, Bluetooth on-off, developer options on-off restart, clear bluetooth app cache, clear apps settings even clear WIFI/Bluetooh cache (bye -bye wifi ssids) tried to changed the avrcp bluetooth versions to 1.4-1.6, select aptX codec etc but nothing changed. The disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload is grayed out so i couldn't changed that, but don't know if it will make any difference.
So is there a thing i can do to make them work, tweak/re install firmware or version of bluetooth ? Or i just hit a situation that the two devices just don't go along.
Just for the record, the earbuds pair and work fine in my laptop and even in 2 Xiaomi redmi 5 i tried to.

IDK if it helps, but Creative recommends to use the SXFI app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.creative.apps.superxfiplayer&hl).
Install this app
Create your profile
Connect the earbuds to your device
Have you tried it already?
Yeah i tried that, creative suggested some methods mentioned it this site, for different Nokia models, but it was basically what i've done already(clear apps, cache, reset phone) I've given up, the only solution is just use different phone...
