Prime Video app not streaming in 1080p/HD unlike my Pixel 2 XL - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Anyone else had this issue? Is it an Amazon app support concern?
Genuinely considering returning and keeping the Pixel 2 XL... not enough of a difference and I miss the fingerprint and original quality backup...

How can you tell what resolution you're getting?

This issue has been resolved, Can stream HD videos in prime video since mid jan 2021.

Coming from P3xl...

Hi all, i found a decently priced sm-g975f
i use t-mobile
Will this be a good fit for me considering i want to root etc.?
Has anyone came from the pixel 3 lineup?
Thanks
it depends s10+ rooting and custom roms are easy to do (in my opinion) i'm currently running LineageOS17.1 paired with my Samsung Galaxy Watch flawlessly, if you want better pictures i guess the pixel 4 XL is the way to go (I'm actually thinking of selling my s10+ and buying the Pxel 4 XL)

Naturally, I agree, but after google messed up the pixel 3 xl with performance and memory issues, i'm hard to trust they did right by the pixel 4, especially for it's price, i already spent 1k on a device that didn't live up to the expectations (camera aside), cant' justify spending another 1k with them for what might end up being the same again.
Also what seller on ebay should I be buying the SM-G975F from ?

How Will The Pixel 5 Camera be better than the Pixel 4? It's the Same Camera!

If the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 have the exact same camera, how can the Pixel 5 possibly give better results?
The Snapdragon in the 4 is much faster than the one in the 5, so computational photography should give an edge to the 4.
Will Google just reserve some proprietary algorithms for the 5? Or is there a secret graphics chip in the 5 that I haven't heard about?
They added a wide angle lense to the 5 as far as I've read.

Isn't there 3 cameras on the back? On the leaks we can see 3 of them, at least I hope.

2 lenses + 1 flash and one ir focus or laser?

Same main sensor, but a wide angle instead of a zoom.
All of the software tricks should make their way to the P4, either through updates or via Cstark
If your only reason for upgrading is the camera then it's not worth it. The only reason I can think of to go from the Pixel 4 to the Pixel 5 is the bigger battery and getting the fingerprint sensor back.
I pre-ordered my Pixel 5 this morning but I'm coming from a Pixel 2 XL.

I'm glad you said this. I just got the pixel 4 and love it. I don't care for the wide angle lense. The bigger battery would be nice but I get great battery life from my P4. I think I'll stick with the 4 until the 6 comes out.

I don't really care about the wide angle either. I'd much rather have the telephoto. I liked that the Pixel 4 had that but the way too small battery on both the Pixel 4 XL and especially the smaller Pixel 4 and the face unlock were deal breakers for me so I stuck with my Pixel 2 XL another year.

Yes I rode my Pixel 2 XL for as long as I could but some of the apps I used responded to slowly on the GP2XL. I handed it down to my daughter. I love the pixel 4 and the face unlock is awesome. I will say that I got tired of carrying around a big cell phone in the 2xl. So the P4 is a perfect fit.
Having got a pixel 5 and 4xl I naturally compared some photos.
Pixel 5 seems to get white balance right more.
HOWEVER when you pixel peep right into a photo I find the 4xl shots have fractionally more detail rendered.
For example a tree on the horizon has more branches clearly defined on the 4xl
Text on a sign in the background or on books on a shelf are less blurred on the 4xl too.
Video is a bit better. Telephoto is handy but the quality isn't as good as the main camera. It also doesn't save at 16mp but 12mp.
For normal photos for me it's the same thing no matter the Pixel gen I use.
But already know this personal opinion before purchasing them

Well for me I notice some fractional changes from model to model.
The pixel 5 however isn't producing quite as detailed shots as my 4xl when looking closely. Side by side it's identical until you pixel peep at the details.
The ultra wide isn't that good either. Tends to lack details and colour accuracy compared with the main camera.
The zoom is no way near as good as the 4xl.
In the end pixel 4 users be warned to consider not to 'upgrade' for the camera.
I'm waiting for the 6 and hope they upgrade the camera hardware.

hi all

I currently on the pixel 2XL Verizon bootloader unlocked
I have a sweet deal to purchase a pixel 4xl 128gb with cracked screen for $220 shipping include
Google store edition 128gb
My question is what are the major differences.
Going from 2xl to 4xl
just compare the spec sheet and watch videos... bruh
Battery life is maybe one major difference. That's worth it but I'd say wait for the 5 it's basically a upgraded pixel 2xl
Although I'm curious how good the screen will be.

Pixel 5 VS OnePlus 8T

Hi,
I had to choose between the OP8T and the Pixel 5. I come from the OP6.
Pixel 5:
Pros:
- Size
- Google Software (GCam + Pure Android) (I heard that the Pixel Base on CAF not AOSP. Is that ture?).
- Nice Support. (I got Problems with my Pixel 1 and I get first the replacement phone before I send my old back).
- Fingerprint sensor on the back and you can pull down the notificationbar
- Wireless-Charging
Contra:
- Just 18W Charger
- No 256Gb Version
- Lose a lot of nice Features (Hope the Pixel 6 will get smaller and updated sensors like project Soli)
I can not judge the Battery life. If the SD765 get 8-10h Screen-on-Time, I cant life without the SD865.
OP8T:
Pros:
- 65W Charger
- 256GB UFS 3.1 Storage
- SD 865
Contra
- No Wireless-Charging
- Never had contact with the OP Support, but I heard it's not good.
- Size, 6.0-6.3" would be perfect
What you guys think?
I have a Op8pro but i would go for the pixel5
The pixel 5 has an outdated main camera still found in the pixel 2!!!
Also no 120Hz refresh rate.
The oneplus camera is also the same as the previous two versions. And being a op user myself for the past 4 years I would go for the pixel just because of poor camera performance in anything but the brightest light as well as the software.
Once your op device is over a year old they tend to give it lesser preference when it comes to updates. And that too many bugs. I have had to deal with op support on one occasion unfortunately and trust me you would not even want to deal with them should things go wrong!
Ultimately it is the user's preference what they would like to buy. It you are a very heavy gamer wanting to play the most intensive games at the highest frame rate then go with snapdragon 865. Mind it the 765 will also play them well but with the occasional drop in frame as mobile chipsets are already quite powerful. But if like most you are in for the day to day software experience and camera then go with the pixel.
Note that camera sensors have not improved that much for mobiles and that is why the Google pixel camera is still amongst the best though a few other manufacturers have caught up to theirs. This is evident on the oneplus as well since they too haven't changed their primary sensor since the past two years!
i got mine today! I have to say a very fine, beautiful device

And yet the camera performance is still very impressive., it is much better than it was on my 1+ 7t that's for sure.
I would most likely have gone with another oneplus if it weren't for the crap camera. 2 of the 4 cameras are utterly rubbish and the rest only perform satisfactory in good light. Any dark or tricky light conditions (UK weather) then damn!
Oneplus software used to be the closest to stock android experience before their latest update. Also once another 2 devices get released after a year then your device treatment becomes third class!

Fun thing is that Google is using the same camera sensor for a long time indeed but it's so damn good!
After the Nexus days I've been a OnePlus fan until now..
I had the 6, 7, 7T pro and recently the Nord.
Last week i decided to but the 4a and i love it, my first point and shoot picture blew me away.. so much better then OnePlus without Gcam.
OnePlus is using the same 48mp sensor on many devices and it still sucks..
And updates are taking longer and longer and getting kind of useless.
The 4a got me thinking back off the time we had Nexus and i got excited again.
People keep telling themselves they need a 8 series cpu and believe me.. you don't.. at least most people won't.
The 765g is really great in everyway and even the 730g performs really well.
I also love the smaller size and i love being back on stock Android.
So the fact that pixel got more affordable, got smaller sizes but bigger batteries got me all hyped again and my 4a will go to my partner and i myself will probably buy a 5 next week.
The price difference with the 4a is big and that keeps me thinking but the differences make the device perfect for me.
So for me no 8T although it's a great device and price as well but again the same ****ty camera.
90 or even 60hz is enough for me, fast charging is awesome but not important.
And i love the smaller size so i don't want to go back to 6.5"

Question Amazon Prime showing in HD and 1080 HD while steaming on Mate X2 Collectors Edition

Hi everyone. I was away from Mate X2 forum for many months as I sold my first Mate X2 last year.
I was missing it alot and decided to buy another one, this time i went for Collectors Edition one that was announced last December.
It is TET-AN50 model with12GB/512GB.
To my big surprise after phone cloning Amazon Prime Video app from my Mate 40 Pro. It is streaming in HD and 1080HD ?
I though that aps like Prime Video and Netflix are restricted to Standard Definition because of Widevine L3. Did something changed that i don't know about ?
PS, netflix is still only 540p
