NFC Micro SD? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Accessories

Poco F1 doesn't come with NFC. It's a pain in the ass knowing that we should be able to do nfc payment but can't because it's lacking the hardware. Wonder if there's a way like nfc micro sd which will enable phones that do not come with built in nfc to do nfc payment like Google Pay. I got this idea and looked for some articles. Apparently several people made it sound like this thing exist but I couldn't find any on Amazon or ebay.

I read something about these a few years ago (I'd been using a nexus 4, got hooked on NFC then switched phones to something without NFC and suddenly missed it massively). I read a few articles but like you never found a product I could actually buy
[Goes away and Googles for a bit]
Ok, so there was a flurry of interest in this about 2013. Toshiba and a few others made sd cards with NFC, for photographers I think. There's one available on Amazon, as it goes
Banggood and Alibaba claim to sell them, but I certainly wouldn't buy these there as you'd invariably get sent junk
Loads of weblinks to discontinued products, which is a shame - don't think these are being made anywhere
It's not looking good

Ah. It sucks. After having my expectation raised thanks to those articles. And yes, I did see the Toshiba one, but it was an SD card (or the adapter). It's not the micro SD you insert into your phone.

Maybe you could get a small nfc usb-c plug (not sure if exists). Just food for thought. I have no real use for it where i'm at , except playing around with custom tags.

Predictions for sales

So what do you guys predict for sales figures for this? If Google can make a big announcement out of this on the Play website and actually make a commercial, I say it will be Kindle Fire sales figures.
Google really needs to market the device ... but we'll see! I would hope a lot with that price range.
Good comparison between the various 7" mainstream devices

Agreed. I preordered the 8GB version. My Kindle Fire with CM9 seems fine with just 8GB so I figure I'm "safe".
I'm hesitant without a micro-sd slot...how can you really market it as improved for 3d gaming if you only have enough room for a couple of really big games after music and videos, etc?
Now, if it has support for USB OTG then I'll be good...thumb drive and a little velcro and I'm set.

Why is that?
For me, its not really a big deal, I don't put 1000 apps and 10,000 movies on my tablet at time. I usually have 50-100 apps and about 5-6 movies on it at a time. If you aren't using it, why have it on there?
im also hesitant without an sd card, but i figured you can always use cloud storage to save things (drive, dropbox, etc). thats why i also skipped on the galaxy nexus, oh well. im still ordering one.x)
I said it in the other thread. There are wireless drives you can use with this. I personally have the Kingston widrive (32gb) & the airstash (any SD card). There is also a Seagate 500gb HDD that is wireless that should work.

If it wasn't an issue with me, I would have already bought one of those other tablets. It is an issue with me though, so if I won't buy the other tablets because they lack a feature I want, I won't buy this one either.
I don't live in the cloud. I don't want to live in the cloud. I will not live in the cloud. No one wants to sell me a product with the features I want, they want to sell me a device that leverages their ****ing cloud product so they can sift thru my **** and know what ads to direct my way. **** that.

Why do you think I don't use any of their free ****? Free is the only way I will take a tablet without a microSD slot. Let me know when that happens.
My only hope now is that Asus still comes out with their own 7" tablet and still includes the features I want. I'll even pay a couple of dollars more for it. Just give me the option.

if you require a sd slot galaxy tab 7 2 it is $250 there you go, im going to assume that asus wont make a 7 inch tablet of there own due to competing with it self for no reason. there are 5 other 7 inch tablets no one is making you buy this one, so dont complain about what you can control

Where is the official case from Samsung?

Any idea where it is? Is it still coming? I remember hearing rumors of them doing a last minute redesign. Any ideas?
Where is the anything from Samsung? There are ZERO accessories. I love my N10, but Samsung is schizophrenic with their accessories.

Yup, if there is one thing that Samsung is poor at it is how they handle accessories. Half of the items announced with the GS3 never made it off the production line. They could have made a killing too. I would have purchased the wireless charging kit and possibly the all share play dongle.
I've been waiting for the pogo charger or pogo dock or keyboard or something.......still waiting.
Well, if they were holding back to see how sales were, Samsung should be turning the lights on at the accessory manufacturing plant right about now
I am just hoping that the Nexus 10 gets more accessories than the Galaxy Nexus phone. I love the phone, but hate the complete lack of quality accessories for it.
I guess all the plant are still manufacturing N10 units to fullfil the orders...
My advice would be to forget about waiting on Samsung... Go to the galaxy nexus forums and search for the home made pogo pin docks... if you wait for Samsung you may never get one.

When I called Samsung, the person on the line had no idea what a Nexus 10 was, and after 5 minutes of being on hold (I guess the person went "searching" for information), he forwarded me to Play Store support. Sounds like it's more of a Google-thing.

They're missing out on a crap ton of money on these. Every single person who's waited ages for their N10 would shell out money for that pogo charger and I've never seen someone with a tablet or phone without a case on it. Between ordering problems and no accessories I'm shocked at how bad Google dropped the ball on this one.

[q] is the mi3 this worth buying?

Guys I'm sure this Question would be raised much earlier, but not able to see this post. Read a lot many negative reviews about this phone, flipkart having issues with replacements, service centers not operational etc.. In a big dilemma weather to buy this or not..
Genuine advice please.

For the money you are paying , it is definitely worth. Even i saw many negative reviews but later most of the users got their replacement , moreover the bugs are software kinda issues you could official Xiaomi English forum to fix software kinda issues.
I bought my Mi3 from flipkart only i dont have any issues so far i bought 2nd flash sale on flipkart. The sim card tray will be lil hard to open just push it hard it will pop out So Definitely for 14k it is Worth it!
a phone with better specs than Nexus 5 for half the price, do you really have to ask that question?
i am paying considerably more for it because i have to import from china, and i'd say it is still worth every penny.
for that kind of money i would only get a low-midrange device in my country (except i would go for a subsidized one with provider lock)
as with all electronic devices, there are probably going to be duds, as even the best QC will not test every single device. happens to the best. should not be used to judge in my opinion, except there is a high number of failing devices.
you have local service centers, so even that would not be a problem.
i envy you people in India, and still there are some *peeep* complaining.
check your alternatives in that price range and then tell me if you found something better?
sorry for the ranty post... i certainly don't mean to offend anyone.
don't worry too much, just buy one and enjoy it.
Lol...I just ordered my third Mi3 yesterday for my son...
i'll buy it
for me mi3 is just unfair for smartphone competition, it will drag all the fancy phone come play to the ground. MI 3 still the best phone in its class compared to others. just minus couple of things like no sdcard, no lte, not a water proof and not a dust proof. Other than that, it is a great phone and the best in its class..

I've been able to trick a few gas stations, I put in either my Drivers license or my credit card in backwards then pull it out quick and immediately put your phone up to the pump.
If you are gonna do that, why not just use a credit card? Seems like twice as many steps for the same result.

Points. Anyway, I've noticed that places that fail with the note 8...works with the Gear s3. Weird.
There are some retailers that will reject Samsung pay even if there is no technical reason to do so, should work does not mean it will work. I know off the top of my head Costco does not allow Samsung pay using MST (though I have not come across a Costco that has NFC).
At issue might be that if the retailer has chip and pin setup, then it will outright reject MST transactions if the card being used supports chip and pin.
I also suspect, and this is pure conjecture on my behalf, it has something to do with the tokenization and the inability to track spending patterns (if i recall gas stations are highly susceptible to false positive that anti-fraudulent algorithm detection uses) .

I thought it was the chip Samsung and capital one say it's not. It's really not that big of a deal that it don't work I cross the on as that don't out of my places to shop. If I can get points for purchasing stuff I already was going to purchase for later to get 100 dollar gift cards 6 months later I'm going to do it.
Wish wish there was a way to know where it works and what don't I deal embarrassed when it gets declined
I use American Express and it works pretty much everywhere. But in NY it's basically a law to have Android/Apple/ and samsung pay support in every store. I use both forms of Samsung pay and it works basically every time. I'll give Android pay a shot sometime but not for a little while mainly because Samsung pays little swipe up for debit card use is awesome. Also I should say that in my experience (earlier today at a dollar general) I was having issues with the mst. But I found out it was due to placement. Also my note 8 froze the cashier computer so we had to reboot the computer and try it and it all worked great. So if you have issues just see if it's a placement issue.

Lack of everything.

Day by day I'm getting regretted of buying the Honor Play instead of POCO F1, the main reason is not the phone, speaker or the camera quality.
Since I clearly knew what I'm buying. But because of the ecosystem around the phone.
Couldn't buy a decent tempered glass from a good brand. Couldn't buy a decent case for the phone since the volume is not high and most case manufacturer ditched the phone.
On top of everything it's the attitude of the honor company itself. They just meant that after the selling it's your product not the companies.
I already mentioned the terrible lack of official accessories. Even for some accessories the site always mentioned out of stock.
On top of everything the accessories section itself is removed from the Indian website. Which means we only sell phones.
In mobile i can access the accessories section which contains only the charger, band and watch, that too out of stock.
Can't the company keep atleast the charger. It's pathetic.
I want to buy a charger since kirin chipset supports proprietary charging for office use and couldn't get anywhere. Not even in online portals.
This might be my last device with Honor or Huawei even how good it may be.
Worst part of it is, i tried to mail them last time and the mail bounced back. Never seen such irresponsible company.
I feel your pain and know where you are coming from, my last phone was a Nokia 8 which was in a similar position and the honor play is the same sort of way.
I can recommend this as a screen protector though:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KHP66ND/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's not tempered glass but it'll protect the screen against most scratches.
As for the case I've ordered this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07F2J4XQY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But it hasn't arrived so I can't say anything about it's quality.
I sucked it up and paid for a bootloader code and having rooted the phone and removed a lot of the bloatware I'm happy with the Android now, although I would like OpenKirin to make it's way onto the device.

About £40, much more than I'd have like to have paid (and that i think I should have paid at all...) but if I didn't unlock it I'd have just sold the phone and gone back to a Nokia for a more stock Android.

Quit your whining. Who buys official accessories? If you want a charger, buy a usb-c charger. Mine works in the office, just like it works anywhere you can plug it in - office, train, home etc. It's your product after you bought it? What does that even mean? Of course it's yours after you bought it. You're not making any sense, man!

Official accessories is another way of looking at companies interest in providing an ecosystem around the product. An assurance that providing support after sales. I'm using normal USB C charger in my office and official charger at home. Kirin uses proprietary charging techniques so third party supported charger is too few. My problem is why can't they have charger in store? Is that difficult to source even? If they can't even source the charger what will happen if any parts of my phone go kaboom. Will it ever get's repaired?
Apart from that how can an official email id get's bounced. Even my personal gmail have unlimited space. My problem is the companies attitude towards users not the product. it keeps the phone alive for at-least some years. I had low volume phones in past and had difficulties in company stopped updating it before an year. I don't want Honor Play to join that list.
Just sell your phone and buy a pocof1, good luck with that

I'm not saying that I'm going to buy but when Play got released F1 was in vicinity and i know it's pros and cons. Number of good accessories released for that phone is more than play and a little push from the company partnering with few more manufacturers will increase the value of the product. My regret is not with the phone, it's a great phone and am enjoying every bit of it. Just disappointed with the company.
