Bestbuy if you choose the unlocked version, but will miss out on the $400 carrier discount for Black Friday.

I'm not worried about that I'm returning my T-Mobile phone because even after fully paying it off they're not making it easy to carrier unlock it

yeah no, their policy is around 40 days usage on their network, as I'm sure you've heard by now. They might give a temporary unlock sooner if you make a fuss about traveling internationally.

I'm approved for device unlock but the app doesn't seem to register that.. Oh well, I'm going back to visible anyway, 40$/mo for unlimited everything is perf

Bestbuy is your best bet, just make sure you request an unlocked device.

[Q] AT&T or T-mobile Variant?

I'm torn between purchasing an AT&T Note 3 or a T-Mobile one. I know the AT&T Note 3 bootloader will be locked and I will most likely have to wait for it to be unlocked and rooted if that is even possible since there is no one who has tried yet. The T-Mobile Note 3 will most likely have an unlocked bootloader but I've been reading around the forums and people are saying that you can not purchase the device with out a plan from T-Mobile even if you do pay for the device out right can I get some clarification on that? So which one would be best for my needs? I'm on AT&T currently and would like to stay with them but I do want root and an unlocked bootloader. What do you guys think? I know I posted this on the AT&T sub-forum but do you have any regrets of not pre-ordering a T-Mobile Note 3 instead? Thanks for your help and input!

I'm in the same boat
What I did was use my upgrade to get a GN3, I am going to sell that then for about 700 and buy and unlocked Tmobile GN3 from Negrielectronics.com so I'm spending around 400 dollars on a GN3 for Tmobile that has an unlocked bootloader and can use ATT's LTE.
Not a bad suggestion. Appreciate the input

Bootloader is definitely unlocked or else we wont be seeing the commands that appear

You can't. Once the stock firmware has been released for the AT&T version(which it hasn't) a dev like chainfire will modify the recovery from it. If it flashes successfully then it is unlocked. If it fails then it is locked. It is very risky to test flash something without the stock firmware.
ATT version = locked boot loader

Some people have said they were able to by the phone without service and some have not. Yes you can get it unlocked from a third party like cellunlocker.net. If you have a friend on Tmobile you might take them to lunch or something and stop by Tmobile. The phone doesn't have to be used on their account. I just think some store's are requiring an active account to buy it outright. I bought mine from Negri already unlocked. Still hasn't shipped yet though. For no tax I can wait.
Thanks for the advice! I just went to my local T-mobile and purchased one no questions asked. Granted it was 739$ before taxes and now I'm just waiting for my unlock code to be emailed to me by cellunlocker.net. overall very happy with my purchase.

I didn't have to buy a plan all I said was I wanted to buy a Note 3 for full retail. She rang my purchase out and I had the box in my hands. It ended up being 739$ plus tax instead of the normal 708$ but it was worth it. The sales associate didn't hassle me or anything about a plan. It's a mixed bag I guess some people on the forums had to get a plan but I was lucky enough not to.

It was a corporate store they had one black one left and I took it . Also an update on the unlock. It took about 2 hours but my Note 3 is now unlocked and using AT&T's LTE network. Getting about the same speeds as I was when using my iPhone 5. Extremely happy with my purchase!

No. But getting the device unlocked by them won't be a problem.
Sim unlocked or Bootloader unlocked, bl will likely never be unlocked in the near future, sim unlocked u can usually call ATT if not there are unlocking services.

not that I know of. it seems to me that any unlocking service outside of the carriers is quite pricey and takes a while. but I could be wrong.
I don't know what their current Sim unlock policy is. But I remember to receive a unlock code you must be with AT&T for 90 days first. But they could of had changed that. If you pay full retail it won't be unlock. You just won't be on a contract. Meaning you could cancel their service at any time.

Hey there, do you hear fantastic news that unlocking services cut down price ranges for AT&T iPhone unlock?
The President of USA has signed the law enabling third-party companies to unlock locked mobile phone handset in U . s .. Another good information is that prices reduce and the cheapest unlock certainly is the unlock for AT&T iPhone. You can now unlock clean and out of contract AT&T iPhone 4, 4S for $15 only! This is certainly impressive because only one week ago the fee was $10 larger.

eBay perhaps listing it available for Europe. If your lucky it'll sell for $400 minus fees , you'd end up with a smidge below $300.
If possible ,.try and swap it for a blacklisted unlocked UK or euro device.
That way each mutal party will get a phone that will work on their corresponding country.

Good ideal but I wonder which site he would use to try and swap? And not get scamed? OP we seen another guy in another thread. Got scam with fake Note 8. Craigslist is full of douche bags who try stuff like this. Delete your craigslist app and never use again.

That's a good question , I don't think there is anything to facilitate that. Shame as I've seen a few USA and UK blacklisted issues on this forum to date. Would have been nice if a swap took place to eliviate issues on both parties.

Yeah never ever deal with craigslist again. If you use another site pay attention to there feedback and details. If you buy anything that's expensive research the crap out of it. If you use other sites we suggested and lets say buy another phone. Have them meet you at your cell carrier. They will be able to tell you if it's stolen, locked, fake, etc.
Seller refuses then don't deal with them. Sites I have to deal with in person. If they don't have atleast 50+ reviews with 5 stars. I won't even bother dealing with them.

T-Mobile will reportedly sell the OnePlus 6T

https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...06/oneplus-6t-tmobile-us-android-phone-report
Well this is interesting news and great for us T-Mobile customers.
The big question that remains is... will the T-Mobile version have a bootloader that can't be unlocked? If so, the deal is off. However, if the bootloader on the T-Mobile version is unlockable, this may be a great option for those of us on T-Mobile. It will allow me to sell the OP6 and pickup the 6T through my carrier, with no up-front cost, using my active 'JUMP! On Demand' program.
Pretty excited to see how this pans out. But I'll remain perfectly happy with my OP6, in the mean time.
What would be the difference between carrier and international unlock phone?
The bootloader would most likely stay unlocked. Due to the open betas it does and os previews. T-Mobile doesn't lock the devices it's the phone maker. And it's also the warrenty. Us has rule that if the bootloader is unlocked the warrenty is void. But OnePlus give you the tools to fix your device and doesn't void your warrenty if you unlock.

That's still up in the air. It will come down to whether or not the bootloader is unlockable on the T-Mobile version. But, as joemossjr mentioned, it's unlikely that the T-Mobile variant of the 6T would prevent you from unlocking the bootloader, considering it goes against everything we know and love with previous/current OnePlus phones. But, time will tell.
It would be nice to be able to get the phone on my JoD. Of course I might have to wait as I just got the red OP6
Read about this today... definitely has my attention! The 6T spec's sound awesome...
It will definitely be network locked.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
I'm excited about this, but also curious about what changes will be made for the 6t. We may see an even bigger bump than from the 5 to the 5t, as this will be huge opportunity for OnePlus. What do you guys think?
I want to know what optimized for the carriers network means. Does that mean the unlocked version you get from OP won't be the same you pick up from T-mobile?
They both would have band 71 (the 6 does) so what are they optimizing?
I definitely want to take advantage of band 71 since my 5T isn't capable. Just curious to see the differences in the 2.
If the carrier version truly is better somehow, as long as it stayed the same price & didn't include bloat ware, I'd be tempted.

This is horrible news. This is going to ruin op devices. They are going to get ready more expensive they are going to require you to buy a plan that your locked into for years. This will make it harder to get op devices in the future as well since they will do credit checks and all that to see if your even eligible. I hope this doesn't happen. The whole point of these phones is being unlocked already.

LOL don't panic! Geez.
#1 there are no contracts for T-mobile and hasn't been for about 4 years or so.
#2 It will require a credit check if you do a payment plan over 24 months instead of buying it outright.
#3 You can STILL just buy the phone FROM OnePlus. They aren't only selling it through OnePlus. Buying through T-mobile will just allow you to make payments if you can't or don't want to pay in full upfront.

Am I the only one who doesn't trust an American Cellular Provider to NOT completely destroy the software before they offer the phone and then delay standard updates for six months to a year? I think OnePlus would have been better off negotiating with Best Buy and making Amazon an official retailer (hell Walmart is an option too here).

Is it a good idea to buy a Sprint LGv40 and having it flashed to U.S?

I have to buy a new phone and out of the phones I was looking at (Xiaomi Mi 9, One plus 7, V40) the V40 seem like a good device with good support inside the U.S.
I am trying to buy a sim free phone as when I was in Japan I had an issue with my phone being locked. I noticed there are alot of really cheap unlocked Sprint V40s on Ebay.
I was wondering if it was a good idea to buy one of these phones and pay someone to flash the U.S unlocked rom onto it. Also wanted to know if doing so would allow the phone to use the bands and frequencies of the U.S unlocked version. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
I did it and it's been perfect since
I purchased my Sprint Unlocked V40 on eBay too. I paid Vlad to unlock bootloader and put Android Pie on the phone. I haven't regretted it at all. I can't say for certain it has all the bands as the factory unlocked model, but it does use all the bands I need for ATT. 2, 4, 12, and 17.
