[Magisk Module] Bring back Google Daydream VR - Google Pixel 4 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Google quietly discontinued Daydream VR with the Pixel 4. If you have an existing Daydream VR viewer, it's useless with your Pixel 4. Fortunately, we root, we can re-enable support. While Daydream VR and phone-based VR in general are dying out, you can still use existing services like YouTube VR and other VR apps.
How to Install
Flash the Magisk Module attached to this thread and reboot.
Install Daydream from APKMirror.
Install Daydream Keyboard from APKMirror.
Note: If you don't hear any audio in Daydream, try running the following command in a rooted shell:
Code:
setprop persist.audio.vr.enable true
My Magisk Module should have already set this value, though.

Would love to see this on my OnePlus 6 with Android 10.
Dammit, I bought ver2 over a year ago, worked well on my op3, then with oreo on my op6, but now? It's a f*ckin' paperweight. Still, love you guys! all of XDA! I may be Canadian but to anyone who celebrates Thanksgiving in the USA, I'm thankful for XDA.

its not an apk, i tried the apk still didnt work you need the newer firmware, im with telus. obviously will need root to do this.
Downlaod apk should work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cmbkeyamj...dStub.apk?dl=0
install ael kernel v5, clear cache dalvik, reboot
download apk from above link
After downloading apk you wont see that app, I used Nova, created a shortcut, chose activities, then vrsetupwizardstub, then samsung gear vr, then hit the created shortcut and done. or you can download quick short cut maker from the play store
then when you install phone into gear vr the first time everything should be golden!
Was going to try and avoid having to root but I don't have much patience to wait for lollipop and don't want $200 collecting dust so I will try this. Thanks
*you link is not working though*
Can you also link me to the thread for that kernel thanks
Alight let's try again.
Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...pment/30-november-2014-n4-ael-kernel-t2961240
Vr setup apk https://mega.co.nz/#!7xd2xDob!uqqCiYYpTaDIoenAK4H-cBTineKRG4xiTp-ZlVb6P98
Dk 3.0 rom in t-mobile android dev forum
1. Flash rom first
2. Flash kernel right after do not boot after flashing the rom! or it will bootloop. If you do then boot into recovery and flash kernel
3. After downloading apk you wont see tha app, I used Nova, created a shortcut, chose activities, then vrsetupwizardstub, then samsung gear vr, then hit the created shortcut and done. or you can download quick short cut maker from the play store
then when you install phone into gear vr the first time everything should be golden!
Cant I use the kernel with just the stock bell mobility rom one rooted?
Mine wouldn't boot with the stock Telus kernel. Plus ael is really nice. Try it if works great if not flash ael.
Flashed all on top of my bell stock rom and it worked, ran the vr setup and still didn't work then realized that it is most likely the phone software/build that needs to be a newer version. Just Flashed dk 3 with ael kernel and will try setup and report back.
I have cm12 on my note the unofficial version is there anything I can do to make the setup.work on this rom
i flashed firekat with the ael kernel and when i start up the vrsetup wizard it still tells me my phone needs to be upgraded, what am i doing wrong?
edit: figured it out, if you are installing firekat you have to install the version 7 regular version not the canadian one, then flash AEL on top and it works.
still wondering if its possible though to get this going on AOSP.

Anyone? I'm trying to do the same thing. Didn't know that it's an exclusive app that is only enabled with the Gear VR.

I've tried this several times to see if i can get Oculus Home to run properly with a Google Cardboard. Furthest I can tell you I got was loading up developer mode in Gear VR service to run downloaded apps from the Oculus store. Depending on what kernel and version of lollipop you're running you may run into some odd screen errors. However, low persistence mode should change your screen display to a bright flickering when developer mode is enabled. After loading up a downloaded app/game from oculus within Gear VR service you won't be able to look around because the tracking data is specific to enhancements made by the Gear VR HMD.
Long story short, you could theoretically play bluetooth controller enabled games. You wouldn't have any headtracking

Yep. I recently figured that out. It uses the headtracking in the Gear VR headset. I originally thought it was just a fancy shell. Apparently now. I wish there was a mod to be able to use the Note 4's gyros. But there are mods out there where people are creating headtracking circuit boards. But that seems out of my league.

Yea... I'd say wait for Rift CV1 if you got a good computer. Gear VR is just a novelty piece tbh. You can only use it in short bursts of time until it overheats. I'd say an hour at max without a fan blowing into your face. Don't get me wrong though, it's worth the $99USD price tag to experience and share with family and friends.

will never work. Not fully. Its optimzed for the Gear VR headset depending on the display size as well.
not sure anybody still cares but i went to a friends house in VT a few weeks back, got a Gear VR delivered to his place by amazon.com, brought it back home (canada) and I have an american VPN and had no issues at all to set it up, I have access to any and all US only content such as MilkVR. It seems, unlike the playstore, the content is geo-restricted and doesnt take into account the billing info on your samsung account. If anybody has issues, try a free VPN, or rent one for a month.
Is anyone still looking/having issues with the Gear VR on Note 4 in canada using the Arcadia lollipop 5.1.1 Rom by Emporia.
My headset worked, asked me (in a vr environment) to remove the headset and install the necessary apps. once complete, it had me re-insert my phone into the headset, only to display a single image of the welcome screen and then hang on the health and safety warning, (that was also in 2d and only viewable in its entirety without the headset on.
if I remove the phone, within a brief second it shows "calibrating" before it realizes it has been disconnected. and the oculus software shuts down.
I appreciate any help anyone could provide, I too hate the idea of the money having been wasted on something that no longer works at all.

NOVA LAUNCHER as pertains to: Gear VR Motion Controller and NOTE 4 problem

Hello!
I saw there was a thread for Note 4 / Motion Controller already, but it seems to have stalled because only people who know NOVA Launcher, perhaps can help, but won't know it; So I put Nova in the title. The problem: Oculus DELIBERATELY DEPRECATED the Motion Controller from working on note 4 (which it was working on fine, and destroyed my ability to finish Apps in production). So, we Note 4 deveoopeds of Gear VR apps, need to reinstall the older setup. All the APKs havd been located, but The closest anyone has come to making it work is a guy who says this:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Hi everyone! So glad I can contribute to XDA!
you want to use Nova launcher activities (google it) and something like Aptoide to download the following:
Oculus VR apks (Home, App framework, etc.) as many as possible
More important still : download apps of Samsung's "Gear VR" service, setup wizard, system, input service, etc.
No need to root.
Once downloaded, create activities in Nova launcher widget on touchwiz or direct on Nova or custom launcher. Create them esp for Input Service to pair that VR controller that's the best $30/30€ you'd ever spend...
Better news still, all this is DPI free so if like me you are using a low setting for extra space on your Note 4 screen esp with the docking station HDMI that gave us D'ex before Dex, it does not screw with your stock VR apps."
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
While it's cool he suceeded, and nice of him to mention it, it is a little vague, it has however I believe ONE PERTINENT CLUE = This 'NOVA Launcher' mention. Perhaps a dev familiar with NOVA can discern what he means? How could NOVA sta din for Wifi and install apks instead? Gear VR auto installs all the apks over WIFI, and manual install, doesn't work.
I need to find how to (use NOVA?) to get OCULUS installed manually with downloaded APK's. ( https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&page=2&s=Oculus )
This guy who wrote the above did so almost a month ago, and people have since asked him for some details, but after 30 days with no further word, I don't think he'll be sharing anymore about his mysterious process.
Please help if you can, I will endeavor to pay it forward in my 5 technical specialities.

Daydream compatibility

Hello all,
I was shocked to find out that the V40 isn't Daydream compatible. I skipped the Play Store and installed the Daydream APK. The setup ran flawlessly, even updating Google VR services, but at the final screen where it shows you the VR view of the forest, a little box pops up saying "sorry, your phone is not compatible with Daydream". Is there a non-root way to force this box to disappear so I can use the V40 with Daydream? it appeared to work fine when I moved the phone around to view the forest in 360. I'm guessing it probably has all the same VR "innards" the V30 had, plus it even has the new SD845. Really annoyed that the V40 doesn't support Daydream. I found a site online with the specs and it mentioned Daydream compatibility. I know there are ways to force Daydream with root. I'm hoping someone figures out a way to do the same thing with ADB. Thanks
Is it compatible now?

Zenwatch Manager Gone from Play Store

I recently did a factory Reset of my Note 8 SmartPhone and went to install the Asus Zenwatch Manager
It is not in the Google Play Store now!
My HD I had SmartSwitch Back up died so I do noyt have a .apk to re install
Anyone know some place I could download it?
It will work with just Wear OS but with The Zenwatch Manager I can use Asus ZenFit it is not great but it is better than Google fit
Google fit has me at 2800 steps and .75 miles not even close to reality.
I can't find any info as to why. I had to end up downloading it from aptoide (blech).
However, shortly after downloading it from aptiode, I found this thread on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/zenwatch/comments/6on4i7/guys_you_should_disable_zenwatch_manager/
where a bunch of people are reporting a big increase in watch battery life after disabling the app on the watch.
I found this thread when trying to find why the app is removed from Play Store. (I'll update more if I find any useful info)
Possibly related: Play Store is reporting most Asus apps not compatible with my phone. I'm running a custom ROM, Android P, so not sure if Play Store is saying not compatible because of custom ROM or because of Android 9.
The most recent version of Zenwatch Manager on Aptiode is updated 2017; so maybe instead of updating it to be officially Pie compatible, Asus just took it down? IDK.
This is madness, I too just ran across this problem.
Zen manager and face design both are missing
What is going on?
I haven't found any further info on why the app is gone from Play Store, but I have had a DRASTIC increase on watch battery life since I disabled the app on my watch.

Yes I use apk to install it. gone from play store.

I just factory reset my watch, and suddenly my battery life was in the toilet. based on your comment I realized that Zenwatch manager had been re-installed, so I disabled it.
Here’s the link to Zen Apps. They’ve been removed from play store
Get the apk from here.

[Q] Location Report Enabler issues (Riru/Magisk Module).

I got fed up by the blatant digital racism i face of not being able to "purchase" something because it is not available on my country (or the one i reside), so i installed this module to give it a try. I do remember using a very similar module for Xposed, but i couldnt risk the compatibility with a two year old module.
According to the guide at the dev's github of the module, Google Play Services should work out of the box as it is included in the initial list of the module.
Since i needed the same solution for a few things, mainly Galaxy Store, Galaxy Themes and Good Lock, i made sure i added them. I also discovered that Play Services is obviously already in, but Play Store wasnt, so i added that one too.
My results are mixed. Galaxy Store and Good Lock work with the spoofed region/carrier, and i get the content of the region i wanted, or should i say, i got rid of the region i didnt want to.
Play Services/Store, and Galaxy Themes on the other hand dont change at all (I even made sure to include the system app Samsung Themes just for the sake of testing).
I can obviously confirm that i have a running Magisk environment, with Riru Core installed as well. I can also confirm that the Module is activated and working.
I followed the dev's guide to:
Code:
Add/enable package
touch /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/packages/com.google.android.gms
touch /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/packages/com.android.vending
touch /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/packages/com.samsung.android.goodlock
touch /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/packages/com.samsung.android.themestore
touch /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/packages/com.samsung.android.themecenter
Return value
echo -n 310030 > /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/gsm.sim.operator.numeric
echo -n us > /data/misc/riru/modules/location_report_enabler/gsm.sim.operator.iso-country
PS, device is a Note 8 Exynos, and all the above apps are of the latest version.
Can anyone help me out on this?
