Yeah, this happened to me a few times after long gaming sessions when the refresh rate was changed automatically using a game profile in armory crate app.
Only way to resolve is to reboot. I don't know if this issues was officially reported to Asus.

[Q] Galaxy Note GT-N7000 crashing regurlaly how to find out the culprit?

My Note has started crashing regurlaly, I have had it since release and have a lot of software on it. I am not sure when it started happening but it is definatley getting worse as time goes on.
Is there any log file or event browser that can be installed to tell me what is causing the problem?
When I say crashing I mean literally crashing dead not a force close. I either find it in my pocket turned off and then have to hold the power button for an age to turn it on or sometimes it is sat on the desk and I suddenly hear the noise it makes when it re boots.
Any suggestions for finding out what the problem is that don't involve uninstalling software until the problem goes away?!
Thanks
Have you tried better battery stats? It gives a list of processes that have been running.
Definitely strange - do you have an anti-virus program you can run to see if it can help?
That sounds like a Sod (Sleep of Death) issue that's been reported many times b0t with no definitive solution of yet..
Some said changing modem helped, others with changing kernel or even ROM but no consistent solution across all users
Try to fix permissions through advenced menu in recovery but am afraid there is not much I can help with

Omfg, I don't think your alone cause I have the exact problems at times when the note just freezes up and you have to manually boot up...lets hope the upcoming pics update will solve this ongoing problem... I'm getting this about 3-4 times a week

it is starting to make the phone a liability as I keep finding it turned off in my pocket!
Is there no software that will produce a crash log of some sort?

this is driving me nuts. The phone is unusable.... is there no possible solution??
At this point I will try anything. It crashed during the night on Thursday, didn't restart and so there was no alarm and I was late for work!
Please post your current configuration Kernel, Anti Virus program if any, undervolting, overclocking ?
By any chance are you using easy task killer... if you are just change the auto optimize to nothing - I did that and it stopped sleeping...if your problem is persisting then you could just do a factory reset and use default settings...

My note recently started crashing as well, whenever i turn on my mobile data plan or the wifi it will crash right away
However this is ironic because when ever i put my mobile in charging mood than i have no problems at all.
So im thinking ,is this the battery problem or the software problem?

If the meter say less than 1850mAh in full charge than u need a new battery.

Have you tried to flash another ROM to see you still have problem?
ok, will try.
Have you installed any battery saving apps, that might be the problem?
No, but as i guess , the problem connected with apps which want to connect to internet, because I turn off internet connection on my phone..
i have other problem with mic, when someone call me their hear me after 2-3 seconds. As I found out, this problem is very spread, but no solution is suggested.
Haven't u updated to 2.3.6? It may solve your voice issues.
Can you figure out apps running in the background that make screen turn on/off?
I installed 2.3.7, but no change, Yes I found that app- it is compass.
Check the settings of that compass whether screen is on/off? Are you using stock or CM ROM? Check also the display settings.

Try lowering your display brightness...that worked for me.
I use CM 7.2, and uninstall that app and everything with display is ok, but mic problem still there is.

phone and watch keep switching to priority mode

Not sure if this is a GWR issue, but if I disconnect it, I don't seem to get the problem occuring.
I'm using it with an Xperia Z3, recently updated to lollipop. I keep noticing the phone and watch have the star icon, meaning it has flipped into priority mode. It is doing this spontaneously without me doing anything. Yesterday it seemed to be really bad - almost every time I looked - there was the damn star.
Is anyone else having this issue? Found anything to fix it?

Screen turns Black Screen while Playing Games

Hi,
Need help! i am having black screen issue or sometimes game suddenly close while playing. This happen most of the time when there are multiple players displayed in the screen. I'm Playing MU btw.
Thank you in Advance,
Ken
Anyone encountered this issue before?
This has started happening to me in call of duty mobile. But only in the last update.
Black screen CODM.
I also have this issue. Any fix for this black screen?
I've started noticing this very occasionally too, but not in any particular game or app. The screen will just suddenly turn off like the screen timed out and shut off and locked, but it doesn't dim first like normal and happens randomly well before the screen timeout setting. It's only happened a handful of times over several months.
Having some problem here with my rog 2. Screen turn black while playing call of duty. Is there someone knew how solve this?
Thx

I had the same version before updating. Steps I followed:
1. Download the file from Asus Website - WW 17.0230
2. Place it in internal storage (move from download folder to just internal storage)
3. Reboot phone
4. Update detected
5. Update the phone
6. Done

Yeah I've done those exact steps and I still get the failure notice. I'm thinking the file isn't fully downloading. But it's still available in my downloaded files, and it says 2.43gb.... My connection is weak right now. Other than that I have no clue.
Thank you for your help though

I'm on 17.0230 and sadly im getting this same friggin problem, but for me is only when charging and it tends to start happening when the battery goes under 60 percent and sadly Asus's customer service is just being useless, now they want me to send the phone back amidst all this when its clearly a soft ware issue so that'll mean 1 month or more without a phone. I seriously regret buying this phone, never had an issue with their phones in the past but i guess that's history

I wasn't able to reproduce this. I charged while playing the game. My battery was around 6%. My COD graphic settings are - Frame Rate: Very High(max setting) and Graphic is set to low(lowest setting). You can try and see if the problem still persists.
I have attached my Gaming Profile (From Armory Crate) which I had downloaded from one reddit (it is suppose to be the best setting for COD)
To apply this setting - - > Armoury Crate - - > COD- Select Scenario Profile - - > Click on Download button at top right corner and then select this profile.

ROG 2 shuts down when charging

Has anyone had an issue when charging their phone?
Mine turns off when I charge a few minutes. Started when I upgrade to Android 10. It still persists when I tried downgrading to Android 9.
UPDATE:
Seems like others are having the same issue. Phone overheats when using the 18w or 30w charger.
https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/18048/asus-rog-phone-2-android-10-issues
Haven't found any fix on this yet.
Me too!!!!!! SAME ISSUE
hope someone can find fix...
My phone shuts down when
*90hz or 120hz is turned on
*When playing a game
*When charged using 18w and above
*When X mode is turned on
And when it dies, it will take so many attempts before it will turn back on...
Now, im only using my Gaming phone for
Netflix, Youtube, and Facebook mainly..
Bruh it's 2021 already and I'm still having this issue, there's still no solution for this? It's so annoying, at first my phone shuts down while I'm charging it and opening apps that was okay for me, but now it starts shutting down while I'm playing games and it's so annoying, someone please help!

Try to install the cpu mod
my phone has this issue too. It's a hardware fault. properly will happen to everyone eventually. the cause properly from heat issue.
It's a common problem for ROG2 and will happen more often. usually, you can fix it by change IC or new motherboard which requires both skills and tools, or just buy a part and find some mobile service to fix them for you.
But the problem still exists even you replace the part it will happen again after years or two depending on how do you use your phone.
Set 60hz both phone and in game, everything back to normal.
90hz and 120hz makes everything crash.
Edited:
It is fix for blackout while in game, but not for auto shutdown when heat or framedrop
oh ****.. It happened with mine too...
I used mine for about 2 years and suddenly last week it happened. I tried to search for solution on internet and found that it happens to many people too.
Last week it suddenly shut down if I used the phone while charging, but now even though I'm not using it while charging, it turns off. Probably it will get worse as the time goes by.
Anyone tried hard reset?
I got no hope in replacing some IC on its board, so I'm looking for some easier solution.
The problem is within asus thermal engine.

Lol, this thread is still alive so issue with ROG 2 still persists.
Any luck with modded roms and kernels?
I used a ice pack to cool the phone down while charging. Recently got my batteries and display replaced. Didnt have the problem after that. May be even because of the A11 Beta
