Get Android 10 navigation gestures on A70 9.0 Pie - Samsung Galaxy A70 Guides, News, & Discussion

One of the best features (if not the main feature for some) coming with Android 10 are navigation changes which are more intuitive and simple. Until we get the update in April though, we are left with the "old" android navigation, or are we?
Xda developed an app (search "Xda Navigation Gestures" on the Play Store) that gives you Android 10 navigations, it works on the A70 and after a lot of tweaking this is the final result: https://vimeo.com/384661364
Fortunately for you, the settings can be imported and you won't have to tweak them much (unless you so desire). I've uploaded my settings which are similar to Android 10 gestures:
Swipe right -> Go back
Swipe up OR Tap -> Home
Swipe up and hold -> Recent apps
Long Press -> Google Assistant
I simplified the gestures, but you can do some crazy stuff with the nav bar in this app.
You download the application and follow the given instructions in the app, the app requires sending an ADB command through a PC so if you don't know what that is, here's an explanation and an installation guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
ADB commands DO NOT trip Knox protection or void warranty, you can use it safely.
However, since this isn't optimized for this device, like I hope the April update will be, there are some downsides/problems I've noticed:
- I sometimes miss the "hitbox" when trying to use the navbar even thought sensitivity is maxed, doesn't happen too often and I'm sure with time I'll get used to the right spot;
- As you see in the video, the normal navigation bar is hidden. The problem is that the UI doesn't understand that there's a navigation bar there which leads to accidental presses on whatever is behind the bar. This is particularly annoying when you open the app drawer and try to use the nav bar which results in you accidentally pressing "Close all apps";
- I've noticed it lags for a few seconds when you turn on/restart the phone;
- Battery? The app says there's possible higher battery consumption but I haven't noticed anything so far.
EDIT:
I have fixed the first two problems, by setting the vertical position to 0, increasing the height to 80 px and increased color transparency (optional, I like it to be almost transparent). This way the navbar is at its lowest point and the hitbox gets a boost because I increased its size, it's working flawlessly now!
It works great! For those waiting for Andoird 10 gestures, you can start getting used to them now!

So what about app closing animations? There had been always such these apps like navigation gestures, xhome bar. I want someome port one ui 2.0 gestures and animations from s10+ or note 10

I doubt anyone will even have time much less the motivation to make a port of OneUI 2.0 considering the update is so close.
I've tried that app, it lacks a lot of customization that XDA navigation Gestures offers. The file I've uploaded is an export of my tweaked app settings, so that anyone can restore them after installing the app from the Play Store (Search for XDA navigation gestures).

So where will i copy this file

Install the app -> follow the app instructions -> after set up go to Settings -> "Back up & Restore" -> "Restore All Settings" -> Pick the settings file I provided.
I uploaded an updated file.

Yep, not that good but then had no problems with cellular calls from either SIM. I could be missing something but then I literally scanned the entire settings but couldn't find a workaround for showing signal status of SIM 2 in status bar.
Plus I did find a menu for choosing what navbar buttons do but no option to toggle navbar lol.
Although I couldn't get Xposed working on this ROM and neither SuperSU. Although the ROM is pre-rooted but procedure for granting root access to an app will at least take you 25 seconds which is such a pain in the **s.
But then I'm going to use it for at least a few days. Never thought MiUi will ever be this stable for our device

Adding features the one plus 5!

The purpose of this thread is simple...
To discuss anything that will truly add features to our phone... As we know this is a light skinned version of stock Android
And here I will be presenting links to apps and threads and everyone can contribute... Which add features to Op5...
Not just ui customizations..... Features...
Definition of a feature...
Something which your phone does which it couldn't do before that app..
So come on guys.. Lets start...
Though I did hate the laggy TouchWiz. I did live the s pen and S note...
And honestly speaking you wll too...
Let's try and customize our Op5.. To the extent that we want to...
This thread will present a series of apps and threads links etc..
Which will help the user to truly add whatever features they want from whatever skin htc sense Samsung TouchWiz to their op5
And I am no developer so please help me out here...

Allows you to take custom screen shots and save content like scrapbook for later use...

MacroDroid - Device Automation
MacroDroid is a powerful task automation and configuration app that focuses heavily on usability with a simple UI and logical step by step process.
Amazing UI. In my experience better than Tasker.
How about Always On AMOLED - BETA?
It's a simple app which keeps your screen on always (like MOTO devices). Nice and cool. If you pay a small amount you get an unlocked version with customization...
Loved the suggestions guys... Specially the always on amoled
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
I have two minor additions I'd want added:
1. More customizable theme colors (or honestly I just want red back!)
2. Invertable color option for the system tray
TL;DR add automatic rules
I had a note 5 I loved it, unfortunately it didn't like the hot tub.. TBH I never used the pen much, but when I did it was handy, perfect for field work; snap a pic, doodle on it, send it off. Awesome! I was torn between buying a note FE or the OP5, I'm glad I stuck with OP from a 2 to a 3 to a 5. I've become a flash-a-holic.
The feature I'd love to see is "automatic rules" you can actually get access to the setting on OOS if you have nova launcher, but it just doesn't work. I'm using "#1 profile" to automatically set the phone to priority only at bed time, this shouldn't be a difficult thing for OP to add/activate to OOS.
I'd also like the old dialer, or for that matter any other dialer, swipe down to answer for me is counter intuitive. Like thumbs up thumbs down, swipe up to answer, or swipe down to reject a call.
I wish you could choose the text bubble colour in the default sms app. Like textra or Google messages (too bad they don't have a dark theme for Google messages).
A setting to switch the wireless data indicator from 4g to LTE, I'm not sure why this bugs me, but it does.
How about Tiles? Also, Virtual Hosts is excellent for setting up a root free ad block. Just download one of Steven Black's host files from GitHub and point the app to it.
Would love for buttons and gestures (especially screen off) to be able to invoke app shortcuts. Just imagine the possibilities for Tasker.
Always on display.
Notification badges on the stock launcher so I can enjoy the shelf.

This is a nice app and I have paid to support but the battery hit is just too much right now compared to what you get using LG or Samsung's version
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I don't understand why not a single stock ROM has long-press volume to skip track. Its such a simple feature. Its baked into every single custom ROM out there. It was there on Sony Ericsson phones (Walkman and K series). I need to get the damn phone out of the pocket, turn the screen on, unlock, open notifications shade, and press to skip a god damn song. (Not all headphones come with buttons, and not all headphones support skipping songs by multi-pressing the buttons.)
2 features I'd love added:
1. Long press back to kill app
2. Brightness slider in notification drop down. I know there is one, but you have to fully extend it to change it. My S7 had the option to place it in the first drop down.
Yeah I agree with most of you, some useful additions:
1. Badges on the Stock OP Launcher! I love it from my iPhone and sometimes forget to answer because I swyped the notification away and no badges to know there are still unread messages
2. Always On or something similar, but only if it doesn't use too much battery and no burn-in
3. Kill all apps in background with one button gesture
I'd love to see OMS commits get to OOS and probably experiment with the Kernel a bit (I know you can flash a custom, but if you'd like to stay complete stock, without unlocking). Maybe improve audio libs similar to ARISE....
How about a one-handed mode feature? That would be pretty helpful.
- Options to block QS & Power menu on secured lockscreen. (Smart Lockscreen protector app does the job, but it's service doesn't start at boot until the first unlock...)
- Skip music tracks using volume keys
- Built in Caffeine tile (the one from play store works well, but doesn't reset when turning screen off).
- Launch torch using power button long press when screen is off
- One-handed mode
- Center status bar clock
Hi guys,
1- badges for notifications. All my previous phones had this function.
2- more functions in auto mode for camera app, it's too basic for me. And in pro mode, I cannot set up the luminosity if the speed is in manual.
3- ultra power saving mode, like Samsung does, very useful when no more battery and we know no access to electricity for several hours.
4- Resize several pictures at the same time. Sometimes I need to send some pictures but the weight is too big.
1. Badges for unread msg or any notification
2. Always on
3. Camera should have more modes
4. Blurred wallpaper on lock screen
Always on clock
Ability to have status bar icons anywhere ie: signal on left
Ability to use dual cameras for wide angle
Ability to use normal USB-C to HDMI cables (not displaylink, Chromecast and wireless solutions are not fit for gaming, one of the 1+5s strongest points)
Screen off/on animation
List view animations
Full halo support
I'll think of more but that's my list of wants

Moto Z2 Force Must-Do's

Moto Z2 Force Must-Do's
1) Install a glass screen protector
Immediately. Unless you like scratches on your screen, install a tempered glass screen protector the first minute you take the phone out of the box. Scratches will appear magically on the stock screen within the first day unless you do this. I suggest a screen protector that is tempered, no thicker than .4 mm, and has a quality oleophobic coating. Cheaper no-name screen protectors have an oleophobic coating that will wear off in a month, have really high reflections, and adhesion glue that doesn't stick evenly.
2) Speed up animations
-Open settings > About phone > tap "Build number" 7 times
-Settings > Developer options > scroll down and change all 3 animation speeds to .5x
3) Change DPI
Just below the animations speed adjustment in developer options is the ability to manually adjust the DPI. I find that even the "small" stock setting isn't right.
-Settings > Developer options > scroll down and change "Smallest width" to 460
4) Disable wireless charging notification
I love the Motorola phones, but the wireless charging notification is beyond frustrating. If you set the phone on a wireless charger you get an animation that shows you are now charging, followed by another animation that tells you how much juice is left in your main battery and your battery pack (if you have one). Looks cool, but locks the phone up for like 10 seconds. If you set it on the charger and then realize you needed to quickly send another text or unlock the phone, you have to wait until all that animation is done first. This has no effect on the phones ability to charge.
Settings > Apps > 3 dots in the top right > Show system > scroll down to "Inductive charger" and select it > click Disable
5) Disable bloat
This one will be up to you with what you want to disable. A lot of the stuff on this phone that is preinstalled can actually be uninstalled, which is good. The rest you have to just "disable". I would recommend you immediately disable the Lookout Security app as it is a trash app which hogs a ton of resources. The rest is up to you. To disable apps it's the same procedure as disabling the wireless charging notification:
Settings > Apps > choose the apps you would like to disable
I have my width to 480 because some apps at that point give a tablet UI which looks a lot better. Like Now for Reddit.

I'm at 590. 600 will force tablet mode, but I don't really like it. After having a z3 compact for years I got used to using a smaller dpi to fit more onto a comparatively smaller screen. I really appreciate that I don't have to have root/xposed/small apps, or edit the buildprop to change dpi.
Also, I personally went with an illumiaqua shield over the typical tempered glass. I prefer the feel of plastic skins like this, skinomi or zagg back in the day.

Ahh, gotcha.
So, now that we've got Root and a working TWRP, what's everyone doing for cleanup and tweaks?
Motorola doesn't add much in the way of garbage, but there are a few apps I might drop like Moto Update.
Maybe an audio mod and theming for additions.

I'm unable to make any changes to that folder. Magisk says I'm rooted, all my other apps work (TB, Substratum, Root Explorer, etc) on T-Mobile but it's not letting me even edit anything in this OEM folder when though it SAYS r/w. Any suggestions?
Yup. Magisk doesn't allow you access to oem. You have to use super su.
I used TWRP to delete the /OEM folder and substratum still gives me issues with trying g to apply Pitch Black or Swift Black themes. Anyone know a working dark or black substratum theme for now?

Any of those 3 work. I'm using one now.

EMUI 9 and nova launcher

Hi,
I have just got EMUI 9 and installed nova prime. Everything is ALMOST fine.
The recent page is problematic :
1. Sometimes there's this blue hue in recents
2. Tapping on neighbouring apps edge causes the recents to close to home screen
Am I the only one with problems like these? Default huawei launcher works without such problems (sadly no hide apps or folder creation in the drawer)

Yeah I have these behaviours.
I guessed the blue tint is by design, a crappy design. Not sure if it's a bug but it doesn't look good imo. Also have the same issue with the recents on Nova. Annoying you have to line up the app you want centrally otherwise it just closes.
Despite these I'm loving my phone more than ever now. It's absolutely flying after resetting and doing a deep debloat. Am keeping performance mode on constantly now too as battery is fine still.

Hold on, I'm getting a normal recents screen colour just now. This is a bug then I guess..

Thanks for tips.
Yeah, these are bugs. I've just tried hyperion launcher with exact results. Guess it's EMUI 9...
its a "overlay" bug, temporarily stop the huawei launcher helps

I noticed the same for #1 but have not experienced #2 yet.
