how to update from RR 7.1 to android 9 pie custom ROM - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

How do I update to android 9 pie from RR 7.1 ROM.
Do I need to update the firmware? And how do I detect my bootloader and firmware version. Thanks

That is not official MIUI or something. Its our official Marshmallow update (given by Google)
Read again. There is nowhere official MIUI mentioned.
Here is one unofficial MIUI based on MM
Try that

Open beta and official

So, what's the difference between open beta and official? Like, if I flash open beta firmware/modem on RR, but decide to flash back to official firmware/modem....would their be any issues?

Haha. Even open beta is official. Bt people only call stable ones official. Official means the one provided by the oem so open beta and stable both are official as they are both provided by one plus themselves . Don't get confused by others.
When u r flashing CUSTOM ROMS LIKE rr always flash latest open bera firmwares
There is no problem if u want to go back to stock rom from a custom rom just don't forget to do a clean flash ok

All right so what would happen if I mix the radio/modem update from Oreo, with the firmware from nougat for a nougat ROM?

If you flash oreo firmware you cant flash nougat rom until you flash nougat firmware back. You end up with error 7 in twrp.

Right, buuut...if I replace the modem within the nougat flashable zip with the modem from Oreo, it WILL flash without messing with firmware with a nougat rom

Baseband version of nougat firmware

So hey guys. I was on AICP Oreo build and may stable Oreo firmware and baseband...I decided that Oreo still wasn't stable enough and missed a lot features, even tried RR Oreo so I went back to RR nougat....tho I decided to skip a step and see what happened....I DID NOT FLASH NOUGAT FIRMWARE AND BASEBAND. Everything is running perfectly using nougat ROM and Oreo firmware......my question is, I am wanting to make sure I still using Oreo firmware (tho I don't see how I wouldn't be). Can someone look at their bootloader version on Oreo, baseband version and comment?
Anyone?
Well...thanks for the help

I saw the thread earlier, and from the title thought you were looking for the Nougat baseband, which I can't personally help with.
I also don't use custom ROMs. Do they user their own baseband/firmware; or are you basically just looking for the baseband number for stock OOS Oreo?
This is what the baseband is on my phone. I'm on OOS 5.0.3 firmware.
Also, you could have just flashed the relevant full image zip file to make sure you had the required firmware installed.
Custom ROMs do not install firmware. They only install system and boot image.

Can I install an 8.0 rom when it's already updated to 9.0 and still use Xposed correc

Hi
I finally found someone who has an unlocked p20 pro and is willing to sell it to me (clt29).
But it's running stock 9.0. but I want to use Xposed very badly, that's why I chose this phone. Because it's the last flagship with an 8.x rom that has all the features i need.
But I read somewhere that once it's updated up l to 9.0 You can't roll it back to 8.0 because the security level or something stays on 9.0 or so and that messes with the rom so you can't root it anymore and can't use xposed. Is that true or can I safely buy this device and install an 8.0 rom and root it and use xposed?
Thanks for the help! Very much appreciated!

No you need to be on a matching base.
Oreo - Oreo pie - pie.
You can try but it'll most likely fail or cause some horrible anomalies you just don't want.

You're on Oreo asking if you can install a pie ROM!!
Answer is no.
If you're on Oreo then stick with Oreo
If you're on pie then stick with pie.
The base is the version you're on, stick to the base youre on rather than trying to mix it up.

Downgrading android 10 to pie

Hello forum.
I am on the latest BTU UK version
Of android 10, but I wish to
return to pie. Do I basically just flash
A pie stock ROM? I Want to
Use the light ROM or galaxy project ROM .... So is it straightforward?
Thank you
GARY
Check current bootloader version if it is higher than on old pie firmware than it is a no go otherwise just use Odin
You can flash Pie, version N960FXXS4CSK2

So...SK1 wouldn't work???
Bootloader version is 5th character when you count back from end of build number. It will be S4 or U4..the number is the bootloader you are on.

Did you manage to return back to Pie?
And do you mind me asking why you didnt get on with Android 10 UI2?
I'm on Pie UI1, and I'm concerned about updating and 'breaking' some of the current features that work on my Note9
Thanks

Android 10 takes a bit of getting used to (so does Android 11 DP1 on my Pixel 3XL) -
I downloaded Odin versions of pie SK1 and latest android 10 build, as well as the twrp for the different OS, have gone back and forwards between 10 and different roms on pie, and no problems, as long as you got backup, odin and a stock rom
I tried downgrading to pie Odin reads everything but doesn't flash. It says write failed after a long time. I am using Alienware laptop I'm not sure if there is something I'm supposed to do. Any ideas. Thanks

This is best your note 9 is on a newer bootloader. it is not possible to flash the old bootloader required for android pie
I was able to downgrade my Note 9 from android 10 to Pie pretty easily, but that was with the 1st release of android 10 for the Note 9. I think the newest version of android 10 has a different bootloader. So you would need to unlock the bootloader before you can downgrade to Pie.
