Nubia independecy - ZTE Nubia Z20 Questions & Answers

Hi,
This might not be a big deal, but is it correct to call this device as a product of ZTE even Nubia gained independency in 2015? If I got it right, it is independent brand that has nothing really to do with ZTE after that year, so basically devices Z11 and newer are just Nubia, not ZTE Nubia.
Please correct me, if I'm wrong [emoji846]

What factors can port a rom for galaxy grand prime?

hello all,
today, I have a question to be answered as the title.
Can some devices with the same Soc (s410) can port their rom for galaxy grand prime?
It depends on Soc or any other factor?
ex: moto g3, lenovo a6000, galaxy a3, htc desire 510, asus zenfone 2 laser,...
Factors vary based on what/where you're porting to.. Although, a device with a similar chipset is probably one of the best places to start

Project Treble for Alice

Hello! Here we will discuss the development of Project Treble for Alice. I kind of already know how to add it.:
1) you need to create a TWRP WITH a new "Vendor" section"
2)to build the firmware, support Treble
3) Build a kernel with Treble support
Commit to the kernel: https://github.com/thune-xiaobai/an...mmit/5b61c8487f9067bb5efb01d1f4d813e454118d14
(Don't know, but it seems to work)
I'd try it myself, but there's no equipment.
It would be fantastic, but doesn't make sense Treble for alice, because you know, every Oreo ROM doesn't work good on this device...

The developers are dead. Nobody is working for Alice anymore. I myself want to move on to Samsung j7 2016 as it has better Oreo support and a partition I can use for vendor.
I will continue releasing ROMs for this device for a little longer, and probably be the last since OpenKirin probably won't work on this device anymore.
-P.S. This is not the right subforum to post this kind of thread. The "P8lite Android Development" subforum is made just for releasing ROMs, kernels and recoveries.
Regards,
It s not easy as you can see there. Redmi note 4 has qcom chipset and there is just a little game to fix all bugs and got a stable oreo rom. Here on Kirin we need to base all sources in some stuff from emui and we always need latest emui to have latest android os and with it, it s still not a game to fix bugs coz of kirin closed sources.
After this start let s come back at port of treble,
He (dev of redmi note 4) made first a normal lineage os non-treble fully stable and then he moved of drivers in vendor by using cust un-used partition, by this he converted non-treble rom in a treble enabled rom. Here we need first an oreo non-treble stable rom or the result would be the same. Also I was working with haky86 on it and we got flashing vendor and booting up issues.
So it s impossible this here
Isn't enough tho.
I port project treble on my lepro3 from his brother, the lemax2. How they did that, they found unused partition called /firmware about 600mb and created with a script called partition.zip that should be flashed via twrp.
secondly you have to move all blobs in that /vendor, thirdly you need a bindrized kernel fully compatible with oreo. as final thing treble will not solve bugs like ril or camera. so if not fixed in the whole device tree and vendor same bugs will be noticed on treble too.
I'm talking about the experience on my lepro3.

Lol don't but that old and bad phone. If you want good community support buy LeEco Le Pro 3, 10+ official custom roms, treble support etcetc. It's like oneplus 3t but for half of the price, even haky got one.

Bad phone? You call the Samsung j7 a bad phone? Clearly you haven't seen a "bad phone". There are phone's out there from what? 2014? And they're currently running P. When this piece of garbage doesn't even run Oreo. If there's a bad phone, it's the p8 lite, not the j7.

That j7 in 2018 is as good as the p8 lite xd 1 core gpu, exynos cpu. That antutu score is killing me. If you really want a high end phone like oneplus 3t for cheap, look at leeco le pro 3 190+ and even 210+ antutu score.
Sd821 6gb ram adreno 530. Running even android p treble.

At least it has stable oreo, unlike the p8. And the possibilities of it getting p are high, with official Oreo arriving for it in october-ish, possibly with treble included as well

Having a newer android version doesn't mean anything, and tbh, i really liked the P8Lite emui skin, it was very close to android 8 skin. And about under the hood changes, yea... I feel like huawei could give us at least 6.0.1, newer kernel or latest gpu drivers, but meh... don't buy a phone just because it has android x, buy for the hardware. Try xiaomi, or Chinese brands, not Samsung. Those are one of the worst per price ratio phones. That j7 will struggle even with today's games, let alone future ones.

Lol it's like 200+ in my country where are you from? Also, why don't you follow hakys path? 200eu for oneplus 3t specs, treble, volte vowifi android pie everything available I'll highly recomand it, also, it looks like 3t, basically a cheap version of that(i meam like literally, and the quality is same as top high end phones). Get into LeEco Le Pro 3, you won't regret it even after years. Also, tell me ANOTHER photo under 150-200 euro which can run fortnite ) (yep, it's running for me, also vulkan api is overkill, and will be for this phone for at least 5 years). Let's not even talk that everything is open source.

Any Thoughts On The Direction Of Future ROMS/DEvelopment, etc...?

Hello All!
Well like everyone, I want a nice phone, but of course being the Geek that I am, I love to hack and tinker on phones.
I've been really researching and reading around online, still in search of that Modders Dream phone, and will all the choices out there, it's just not easy figuring out, at least I'm still looking. Problem is, all the latest cool phones that have recently come out in 2018, like anything, development will take time.
So I'm trying to figure out which phone(s) might be a good choice to go with. As some may of read, OnePlus donated some 6 phones for free to XDA developers, that certainly made that phone look promising for the future, but the cost of the 6 is a little over my budget.
So, with all this said, I currently have a Mi A1, and the development seems like it's been really good on that phone, which makes me think that Xiaomi phones seem to be popular with development, at least I hope the Mi 8 will have just as much development going on as the Mi A1, or better.
What does the future hold for this phone, any thoughts on this?
Hmm
Thanks

I'm patient, that's not the problem, I guess it's to early to tell how the development will be. I assumed if the Mi A1 was as good as it is, then this should be better, but that's a cheaper phone, easier for people to get, therefore more development, more expensive phone, less people can afford, less development...
hmm

Honestly, I think the best "tinker" phone right now is the Oneplus 5t. Solid hardware and a very big selection of roms and mods. Xiaomi phones tends to be good also, but you need to wait a year or two before it really picks up.
I have an Mi A1 and it's great, so it made me think to get another Xiaomi, but then I really had my eyes on the OnePlus....
To many bloody choices... LOL

there was an instant of Mi8SE kernel source was released for 2 months+, but there wasn't any development for custom ROM so far.
Of coz it might really means the establishment for this phone wasn't wide enough and the population wasn't there, due to the price. These contributed to late or lack of ROM development.
It also could due to there are many new development in the android world such as Android Treble and Android Pie which is more fun and trendy for the moment.
So, the wait will really had to be a bit longer then usual.
But what is the usual?
That will be the primary question now.

Yes. I'm aware we are talking about Mi 8 which running on SD 845.
What I referencing is Mi8SE had not had any development even they had the kernel source released 2 months before.
However, I wish I'm wrong on this and had custom ROM development as soon as the kernel source released.
Time will tell...

I wanted one essential phone for a long time, but I need dual sim and don't really want to bother with bluetooth adapters so skipped that one. Have a OP6 and MI8 now. Like the MI8 more but a bit bummed I can't get custom recovery to work flashed so have to fastboot the recovery each time there is an update.
We have to wait for the kernel source from the Mi8 to get the best experience out of custom roms.
We got treble, but not everything is working well with Treble roms.
Hope Xiaomi will release the source shortly

Android 10 is coming to the 3S, but NOT the Red Magic 3 :(

Over on the Red Magic 5G xda page, there's a Nubia representative who was offering support for the new Red Magic 5G and talking about future updates to that device. I asked about updates to the forgotten Red Magic 3 and 3S. He stated that Android 10 would be coming soon to the 3S. Apparently Nubia is ignoring Red Magic 3 owners. Ridiculous because I think these phones are pretty much identical save for the CPU/GPU. You would think that it would be easy to drop Android 10 for both devices. This really pisses me off, as I'm a Red Magic 3 owner.
really? unfortunately I'm not surprised I think buyers of the RM3 were just cash cows considering the RM3S was released not long after with a lot of the same issues as the original 3 so they must of had that device pretty much ready to go when the 3 was launched, never regretted a purchase as much as this RM3 just hoping that the community pull together and we get a custom rom solution soon.

That's NOT the global variant. That's China.
On the RM Facebook page, RM claims that the RM3 is next on their list to be updated to 10.
What that means and if it's true, is left to be seen.
They've made claims in the past and they've just ignored things as well.

As I found same as Vivo, no boot unlock, so no root. Zero information on english sites about unlocking. Damn Axon 40U so sexy but without root its just halfphone for me. Also there are no 512gb, 1Tb for global market so no reason to buy. Maybe china friends will foind a way to unlock until then then.
