Samsung S9 SM-G960U1 Android 10 Update ? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
XDA Community
So my inquiry today, is that
i realised samsung has just roll out the Android 10 Update for S9 devices, on Feb 2
but my phone is not getting updated yet via OTA, like always
I had no problem getting Android 9 (Pie) when it released.
but now, i am so confused, why my phone is not getting the update.
Well, i looked into SAMMOBILE official page, and some carriers of my model [SM-G960U1]
have already the Android 10 Update,
so my question here is, wich one of those sammobile.com - samsung - galaxy-s9 -firmware - #SM-G960U1]
, is my correct update or firmware
i figure out is the Uknown (XAA) Version [sammobile.com - samsung- galaxy-s9 - firmware - SM-G960U1 - XAA - download - G960U1UEU7DTA5 - 314846], but i need to be sure
so here we are, i need some help to get the correct firmware for my S9.
The things is that the PDA and CSC are the same on each Carrier, and is difficult to identify
i never had that issue with previous phones like S6, S3 or S7.
also, i looked into IME PAGE INFO, and says that is : XAG Version -> IMEI.info: CSC XAG
so, that confuse me.
NOTE: AND not MY Phone is not Rooted, i keep it official since i bought it.
so for you, i have the ADB Lines: of my S9 Phone:

so, TMB (T-MOBILE) JUST RELEASE yesterday the update, so for TFN, we need to wait a little bit more until all get ready
i think, i just will wait some weeks more, if not, i will change my phone to XAA Firmware.
hope, this will help you

Too bad tmo's s9 update has been delayed, released date... "TBA"

install samsung smart switch app in both android and PC. connect through USB. in PC smart switch desktop app, it will prompt you with new OS update.
just manually install from your PC.

Tfn is TracFone. Xaa is unbranded the update hasn't been released for all carriers yet

I have successfully flashed the CSC: XAA firmware (android 10) to this phone and it is the same prob. Random freezes and reboots. Any idea or advice?

Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F) OFFICIAL OneUI/Pie beta (NO ROOT/CUSTOM ROM TALK!!!)

Samsung’s customer support staff may be wrong and clueless too many times to count, but they might have been right about the Galaxy Note 9 joining the One UI (Android Pie) beta. Well, Samsung might have, at the very least, pondered starting a Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie beta program even if it won’t actually do it. This is supported by test Pie firmware discovered by GalaxyClub for the Note 9 in Europe and South Korea.
Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie beta still possible?
Samsung is currently testing firmware versions N960FXXU2ZRKE and N960NKSU2ZRKF for the Galaxy Note 9. The interesting part here is the letter ‘Z’ in the build number. It has been used by Samsung for beta firmware since it began having public beta programs with the Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S9’s One UI beta, for example, comes with build number G960FXXU2ZRKA in Germany. And, before Android Pie, no such test firmware were ever spotted for a Galaxy Note flagship while a beta program was going on for that year’s Galaxy S smartphone.
It makes the presence of such firmware for the Galaxy Note 9 quite interesting. And with the Galaxy S9 beta program having started less than a week ago, Samsung does have time to include the Galaxy Note 9 in the program. But, as we said at the beginning, it’s also possible the company has backed out of doing that despite having planned it at some point. We hope that’s not the case, of course, and we will now be spending all our waking hours looking at the Samsung Members app on the Galaxy Note 9 for any sign of the Android Pie/One UI beta.

I'm on Pie beta CRK3, and so far I have no issues. I had freezes and force closes on the last release, but running smoothly with this latest.

Note 8 from oreo to pie and back

Hello friends im courently on android oreo january security patch and its running flawlessly, in a couple of days android pie shoud arive and my question is before i update what shoud i check before update so that i wont have any problems if i dont like it to get it back to oreo (i only know how to use odin would that be inaf or should i check binary code to match before update because i think that it can't downgrade from a higher binery to a smaller or something else)? Im questioning this because i found on gsm arena that a lot of users having all sort of isues after update in their countries! Thank you for your time all the best! :good:
I would recommend that you visit a Cell Phone Store and check out a demo unit of the latest Samsung Flagship running Pie. Or install Pie via OTA on the shop's demo model of the Note 8. Then you can play around with it and see if you like it before deciding if you want to update. If you do any online banking via your mobile device. I would recommend install Pie onto your device anyway, as that will ensure that your device has all the latest patches for it.
There is no store that will alow me to update they demo unit? And curently the only way that i can update is to flash it true odin to some other country. But now my question is if my phones softver is currently hungary XEH oreo january sec.patch and i flash it with russian SER pie february sec.patch and dont like it because on my hungaryan there is not evan one operators bloatware app preinstalled and maybe on russian there is, can i revert? Tnx for your time ?

You could always do right there on the shop without them knowing. I have done that numerous times in the past.
If you install the stock Samsung OS and not a Russian Carrier version. You shouldn't get any Russian bloatware on your device.

In my country there is no chance for that ? and how to know if that russian SER is from operater with bloatware or not.? I had a luck to find this hungaryan XEH that is clean.
Btw my from the box was for dubai/saudi arabia and i didnt get monthly updates and phone wormed up near fingerprint sensor every time phone starts for a minut before cooling down and than working flawllesly so i flash it to hungaryan for that and got everything up to perfection?
Finished! I flashed with russian SER rom and is good! Not a single app in blootware! And i say good insted of perfect because warming when start up the phone is also ON on this version of rom but after a minute from start up everything is perfect! Pie on battery life is amazing and not a single glitch happy with update. Thumbs up!
Hello me again My question know is
I flashed my phone using odin from this version on picture (oreo 8.0 XEH-Hungarian 01.01.19 security patch)

Can i use odin again to get back to oreo? And can i update to russian march update and still be able to get back to oreo version? And not to bother you next month on witch leather i should stop updates to get safely back to oreo? I know when you throw updates update binary you can't go back?
THX for your time!
You would need to unlock the bootloader first before doing this. Which will trigger Knox.
How to do this 'unlock bootloader'?

You don't have to unlock bootloader to go back to oreo from pie!
You will just need to make sure your bootloader is the same version.
Pie firmware N950FXXS5DSB2
Oreo firmware N950FXXS5CSA2
Notice the "5" before DSB2 and CSA2 The 5 is the bootloader version!
As long as that number stays at 5 you can go back to oreo with a factory reset.

So what bootloader is in this firmware N950FXXU4BSA2 and this one N950FXXS5CSA2?

I just saw the March update info and I would hold off installing it for now. There is a line in there that says you can't downgrade due to the security policy.....
Wait until a brave person tries it and sees.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

No: if you read the title of this thread, you could see it's about the International Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, SM-F916B (Multi-CSC OXM)

Thanks, I felt really stupid for a second, I'm like "Where the hell does it say that? What am I missing"
 Anyway got it, thanks! Although, probably another stupid question, what exactly is the international version? I didn't know there is just one model for most of the world. I only know of North America, Korean, Hong Kong, etc types? I didn't know there was an "international" variant. Thanks again, sorry if this question is obvious.

Hey @henklbr what do you think about making this thread more generic and including some of the other variants? I was gonna make a thread but I see you already have one so I think it would be better to have it all in one place instead of multiple threads with 99% the same content/questions.
Here are a few more firmware packages

I suggest you'll start a thread about the "other" variants of the Z Fold2; I'll stick to the International "B"-variant here (done this also with my other FW-threads)
Where is the international variant sold? Just literally NOT US, HK, CN, or KR? Everyone else is International (UK, India, Singapore, Europe, etc.)?

Hello Can we flash Multi CSC ROM to Indian Model Which is also SM-F916B> We still have F916BXXU1ATHE. I don't see update notification. Badly wish to activate eSim Support. If I flash will this destroy my warranty ?
Can this be flashed to any/all Fold 2s, or does it have to be a specific region or model number? Once flashed, will it always receive android updates like stock, or are there any other limitations of flashing? I would hope if I flashed it away form my stock Chinese system that basically it would just be like I bought the N. America, EU, HK version. Is that how flashing these ROMs work? Sorry if these are dumb questions. Still learning.

General Samsung S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra U1 Firmware (Links)

After looking really hard ahead of launch for the U1 S21 Ultra Firmware using Samfirm and Frija, I couldn't find the US XAA firmware. Well I finally got a hold of it ahead of launch. You can use this firmware to flash any carrier branded S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra to U1 after receiving your device using Odin. Attached are the Google Drive links I've uploaded for your convenience. Links will be updated on a monthly basis for simplicity. Below is a simple guide on to flash this.
Step 1: Download patched Odin and Firmware for the model that corresponds to your device's model number
Patched Odin link:
odin.rar
drive.google.com
Download patched Odin and your phones firmware to an area on your computer that will be easy to access.
If you do not have a program that can open rar files, then Winrar is a great program. Download link here
https://www.win-rar.com/fileadmin/winrar-versions/winrar/winrar-x64-601.exe
Step 2: Download Samsung Smart Switch and make a complete backup of your entire device. Data will be wiped during this process, so make sure you have a complete backup.
If Samsung Smart Switch says your device has an update, DO NOT UPDATE USING SMART SWITCH!
Windows Link here: https://www.samsung.com/global/download/smartswitchwin/
Step 3: Once your device is done backing up, Power off your device and put your device in download mode by pressing the Volume down button and power button at the same time. If you have done it correctly, your device should show this screen.

}

Step 4: Connect your device to your computer and open up Odin.
Step 5: Once Odin is opened, make sure your device is showing as connected, then select AP, and find your firmware file that you had extracted earlier, and select the one that says AP_(Your phones model), and do the same for every other one. So BL for BL, CP for CP, CSC for CSC, and USERDATA for USERDATA. Make sure you select the HOME CSC.
Step 6: Click start. It will start to flash your U1 Firmware. Take a Tea break or something. Once its finished, it will automatically reboot.
Step 7: Once device reboots, sign into your Gmail account you used previously, as well as your Samsung account. Once its at the home screen, restore the backup you made using Smart Switch and then once that completes, sign into all your apps. Your done. All OTA's now ill be XAA Samsung OTA's, not carrier branded ones.
Step 8: Profit>?

Questions and Answers
Will this work for the Exynos version of the S21?
No The provided firmware files are for the Snapdragon version. This might be compatible with the HK Snapdragon version, but I am not sure.
Help, Odin won't flash, gives me an error.
Respond in the comments below, and I'm sure we can get this to work.
Will this unlock my phone from my carrier?
No. If your device is locked before you flash this, it will be locked after you flash it. This is to remove carrier bloat and ensure all further updates will come from Samsung instead of your carrier. If you flash it before you unlock, you can still unlock your device as normal.
I have bootloader unlocked my device, will this relock my bootloader?
Yes. This includes the V2 bootloader for the S21 series, and as a result, if you flash this, you will lose your unlock token.
Updated for July 2022 Security patches.

This will work with any carrier branded version. It will entirely convert it from the carrier bloated version, to the U1 unlocked, Samsung version.
Hi,
I can not change my csc by flashing via odin, I noticed that it was a problem that happened to a lot of people, I tried to flash the XEF version (french unbranded version) but it does not work...
I wanted to know if I could flash this U1 firmware on my galaxy s21 exynos version and then reflash to a XEF version?
My phone is SFR/SFR,SFR/EUX/SFR, by flashing the XEF version it didn't change anything.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I noticed that we could no longer change the factory csc on samsungs, thanks Samsung...
This will not work with the exynos version. It's U1 snapdragon only.

FYI - I found new firmware that includes February Security Patch for G998U1 - you can download it here: February Firmware for Galaxy S21 Ultra
the firmware is for a region labeled as ACG (not sure who this is - but I do know that the firmware works on my ATT S21 Ultra with no problems)
Hope this is helpful -

It doesn't allow dual SIM in the US at all. One of the first things I looked for once my AT&T S21 Ultra was unlocked. Even flashing U1 firmware doesn't allow that. However, it does completely convert the phone to the Unlocked version of Samsung's firmware, so your updates won't come with AT&T bloatware, only Samsung apps.

The ks for doing this. Frustrating how slow Samsung is with the HK version. Let alone one UI4!
Anybody got the one ui 4.0 beta ota zip ?
the BRI after the September security update
Charging becomes very slow, originally it takes about an hour for 10-100
Now it takes 90 minutes to fill up
Been using TGY Variant since the S9, this is the first time I can remember not receiving a timely update. Also, does anyone know the differences between TGY and BRI Firmware? I've read their the same but I'd be surprised if that's the case.

My CSC is originally BRI and since flashed the TGY. I'm unable to come back to BRI as it seems like they are the exact same firmware - same md5.
Samsung doesn't release even the regular monthly patches, 9980 TGY is still on August Patch.
Why dear Samsung?

i am going to change my phone its really disappointing. i was hoping that with 2nd beta will get it but no
there is definitely something that is holding Samsung from ruling out newer SW for TGY .. otherwise they used to be released as soon as there is a SW for Taiwan (BRI) or for China.

Bro did u just dirty flashed it or did a back up and clean before flashing. I have 350gb of data so want to avoid flashing just over it. Also in UAE im getting 5g and everything is fine with the phone including battery life. Just Samsung pay is not usable. Please let me know if camera and any other improvement is there over tgy when comparing bri software.
Thanks
From my Note days, owning the HK version, it was also late with updates, never got betas, and then suddenly got the One UI3 update along with all other regions. I'm guessing that's what will happen here too.
