Our release of Android 10, titled CR-8.0, is codenamed PAX after the latin word for peace and Pax, the roman godess for peace.
PAX provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. PAX delivers a set of unique features, like a systemwide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover

Wow! Been using this ROM on my Nexus 5, years ago. Very nice!

I remember using this on my old Sony devices.

A new ROM is always welcome. I used it well on my N4.

Can I flash on a custom rom? Or I have to go back to the official and flash the rom

Should work, but it's recommended to flash stock first. But you can do that in one flash. So when you're in TWRP, flash the stock zip, and flash Carbon right afterwards without a reboot or anything.

We do not actively workaround SafetyNet due to various reasons. LineageOS has a well written explanation here.
If you want SafetyNet I recommend checking out solutions like Magisk or various custom kernels with "SafetyNet patches".

I can confirm Safetynet passing when you use MagiskHide Props config module:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228
You gotta change the fingerprint with props -f command
I installed this ROM today, first I tried LineageOs bit I got force close message with opengapps. With this ROM everything is fine and I just setup everything with no problems or glitches as of yet. So it looks great to me. Wil report back later

Everything is great so far. The stand by drain is also good 4% overnight.
One issue is that Network Traffic Indicator is not working, it's there but display 0.00kb/s
It would be great if the rom allow display calibration like DCI-P3 and vibration motor adjustment

Thank you

I have been using it now for a couple of days. A few things I have noticed:
- The Mobile/data icon constantly keeps switching between LTE/LTE+. I tried changing the icon to 4G but then it keeps flipping between 4G/4G+. Also the signal icon is never full. For example in my room on the top floor I always had full signal bar with OOS
- Battery drain seems to go a little faster then OOS, any tips to improve this?
- I tried paying with my phone/bank app/nfc chip at local supermarket and it did not work.. It worked on OOS/magisk/usb debug disabled..
Is there a change to get OOS camera or anyone have a good working google camera app?

LTE+ and LTE are different modes. LTE+ means "LTE Advanced" which allows for carrier aggregation (see Wikipedia). I believe OxygenOS is not showing the + by default (Android allows to configure that internally). As for stength, it might be worth checking the actual db values as theres a few carrier know for cheating at the shown signal strength. Those cheats are "disabled" in AOSP.
Battery: So far reports all deliver an improvement or even experience with Oxygen. It might take a few cycles to "settle in".
Paying: The miracles of SafetyNet. I'm not familiar with the whole Google Pay stuff so I can't help you there unfortunately.
There are a few OxygenOS camera APKs you can install that work fine. Also all @Arnova8G2 GCam builds are fine.

I knew LTE/LTE+ are 2 different modes. But your story doenst explain why it keeps flipping from LTE to LTE+. Everywhere I am, walking trough the city, in the park, near the train station or at home it keeps switching from LTE to LTE+. Every 2 to about 10 seconds or so. This results in constantly moving icons in the top status bar which is pretty annoying. Also it doesn't make sense it would switch between the different modes so much right?
How do I check the db values and what are db values?

I've been using the first Pax build (STABLE) and just updated! Great battery! (I swapped kernel cause ViPER4Android)
There was a conflict with ViPER BT (not processing after about 5 seconds) however, kernel in 5/6 may yield stable results, we'll def find out.
kernel adjusting automatically. very stable; low load avg.
Spectacular CarbonROM, Thanks Myself5 I'll continue with the included kernel for a Carbon experience!

Amazing ROM, first time user and loving it. Thanks for such a hard work!
I'm using with MinMicroG and works like perfect, amazing battery life.
Would like to know some issue, in settings, Spoof package signature is available but I can't see, for playstore/fakestore! Why is that?

i want to try this rom. can anyone give me correct steps for installing...would be much help.??

usb file transer not working for me thanks for the rom

CHANGELOG:

Since we're updating frequently, making manual changelogs ain't possible anymore...
And also take note that although I am involved in the development of this ROM, but I do not own the device, so I might not be able to answer your device specific questions...
You might want to move this to the other Dev forum (Atrix HD Android Development) for our device. You'll see more traffic there.

See this article for a description of whether a post should be in "Original" Development or not: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/introducing-original-development-forums-for-more-devices/
Regardless, it seems like all the ROMs are in the other forum anyway.
Hi, which are the Unique Power Saving Functions? Is just one on/off switch or does it have more settings? I will be trying this ROM this week, but just wanted to know...
Edit: Just installed it and is just a on/off switch. What does it does? Also I noticed a bug in lockscreen, when you lock it, it still shows the navigation bar. Buttons doesn't do anything but they are there. Also there is some chinese apps.
Other than that, is pretty similar to another CM based ROMs. If the battery saving feature really works, this will be my daily driver without a doubt.

Yes, it looks like vanilla Android, but have you explored the features? Not all ROMs have those......and it's not ported but compiled from source, I've posted lots of similar threads...of course I've read the rules, thanks for reminding though...
I've started posting threads across the forums to spread the work of the team, not for "Thanks" hunting...why so negative without further testing on the project we spent countless on? Nightly builds, OTA updates and download server, we wouldn't spend so much effort if it is just a rip off and isn't something to be proud of...

Well the ROM is from China right? The apps were targeted at the users over there...just go to Settings->Apps and disable them...the power saver? Try tapping on the left of the toggle......well about looking the same, there are actually a lot of things not implemented by others, including CM...I will spend some time on explaining this time then:
1. Incremental updates: Remember Cyandelta? Well we have incremental updates by default, each update is around 15++MB
2. Speed dialing in dialer
3. Upload+download speeds in status bar
4. Lift phone to call
5. Delay SMS sending
6. Auto stop timer in Apollo
And lots more...not all are described in the first post and screenshots...

Well I installed, seem'd interesting, lots of features to play with. But in less than 15min use, I already had 3% signal loss, which means it has the same radio crashing as CM11. Which seems a shame, would have like to use it more, but can't count on it as my daily driver.

It's not your rom's fault. Unfortunately it is a CM11 problem and is the same with all roms based CM11.
EDIT: Not seeing the option for multi-windows NVM found it works great!

The rom's pretty great, but I'm getting a Status 7 error in CWM when I try and flash the incremental update from 1/18 to 1/24.. I'm using a compatible version of CWM, and have flashed before the CM11 nightlies and other CM11 based roms (including this one) with no problem.

I'm your maintainer and I want to say a HUGE thank-you to @shabbypenguin couldn't have done it as good without you!
I mean seriously, thank you for all of your time getting the groundwork done! I've never met a person so willing to get a device he didn't own booting a custom rom.
Thanks to dhacker too, laying the groundwork for the motorola project.
Can't forget Nupich in there too.
Big thanks to intervigil as well, textending support to the peregrine as well.

My thoughts on this thread.
thanks a lot... everything looks good so far...
Been getting a lot of freezes on this and the recent cm build. Mainly when trying to do something while listening to music.
For instance i had the notification overlay thing enabled and it came up with the new track that started playing. Pulled down the quick settings and pressed the button to switch to notifications and it freezes every time. The device sometimes fixes itself but usually have to reboot to be able to use the phone again.
The isuee seems to be the same on both roms. I did a clean install of both.
Edit: still getting freezes but it seems like some of them were related to shuttle+ 1.4.1. Updating to 1.4.2 fixed some of the freezes.
I have been playing around with a lot of the settings and everything seems to work so far including wifi tethering.
I'm installed the new build (15/8) from Carbon ROM web and works very fine! I don't see the option for disable/enable the LED, where is?
Don't have major bugs only this:
-Network mode toggle doesn't show 4g option, only 2g and 3g
-Sometimes UI crash installing apps (only 2 times)
-DSP Manager don't work and show FC
The rest works fine

Yeah I had the same issue with DSP manager, I just disabled it and replaced it with viper4android and forgot to mention that. Also seeing the same toggle.
Playing any video file in mx player crashes my device tried disabling hw/hw+ decoders still get same result - blank screen that is completely unresponsive will report back might just be my install.
Edit: Tried new install same issue even tried beta version it seems like this is related to the rom and not the app.
Edit 2: Went back to stock 4.4.3 mx player working fine, went to new 8/15 cm after wiping same issue with mx player as with carbon 8/14
Unsure if this is just an issue with the launcher but after disabling the search bar in launcher 3 when you drag an app from the draw there is usually app info or uninstall options for easy access. This feauture is gone after disabling google search bar.
lockscreen notification
I have the hover notification setting enabled but I'm getting double notifications on lockscreen, anyone know how to disable the standard lockscreen notification?

Lockscreen notifications
I like how the notifications appear at the top of the screen so I would like to use it, its the default sliding notification alerts that appear on the lockscreen that I wanted to disable as I don't need them.

Wifi not working on some routers
I'm currently trying out the CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140818-0215-peregrine build on my XT1040 on Rogers. Almost everything works great, except i've been noticing some issues with Wifi that i've never had before.
Basically, it connects fine to my home network, but at work and on a friends wifi network it just sits on "Obtaining IP Address". My logcat is here if that helps.
Other than that, great job on the ROM! Thanks for all your hard work!
I found a "important" bug:
If you set 300Mhz of minim freq. when you lock and unlock again the minim freq. is 1190Mhz
For fix it set in Trickster MOD the freq. and enable "Block freq."
Please @Somcom3X and @shabbypenguin fix this bug, is present on CarbonROM and PA (CM not tested but its possible)

wow, thanks for this christms gift sir. will try and give feedback afterwards
btw can i flash this one over my pixelplus ui v3.9?
how does this unlimited google photos upload option work?
Excellent ROM.
Got everything working from the get-go.
And a nice Android 12 look and feel.
Good job !
The only thing not working is the "Night mode" which doesn't seem to activate no matter what I do. (I'm expecting orange-ish colors you know, to reduce eye strain). But no...
Also, one thing I like on Android 11 was the ability to customize icon shape (rectange, triangle, etc...). I don't seem to be able to find that again.. Then again that might be part of Android 12..
But all in all, this is pretty great
EDIT : almost forgot, I flashed the latest stable Firmware here before I installed Project Elixir :
[Firmware] Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 [lavender] [Auto updated daily!]
All Xiaomi users suffer from a single problem, Firmware update. As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release. And also developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes...

Came to talk about that.
I think I have gained like 25-30% of battery life using this, it's really amazing on a 2.5 years old phone.
I read that there has been work on improving battery life on Android 12. So this just being a12 could be the reason alone for that.
But anyway, nice work and nice ROM, again !
Missing N/W indicator
I really like this ROM. It's nice and smooth, looks great, pretty responsive.
However, out of the blue, the system UI started dying whenever wired headphones are connected, and will not come back while they are plugged in. Once I unplug them, the UI starts back up on its own and the lockscreen appears again.
Looking around, somebody said that this was caused on a different device by an overlay not supported by SystemUI. I remember disabling (or trying to) the option for speaking to Google Assistant (even though it's not supposed to be on) with wired headphones, don't know if that's at all related.
In the meantime, I can only guess that this could be fixed with a data wipe, but I haven't even had the ROM installed for 24 hours and that is frustrating.
I captured a logcat through the terminal, I hope it's useful.
Edit: I can't see if the file is actually attaching, please tell me if you can see it.

First of all, Thanks for this wonderful C.Rom.
I'm wondering if in the future updates, you're going to add a feature whenever you input your Security Pin at the Lockscreen (when it's correct) it'll automatically unlock instead of having to tap on enter button?

Installed successfully. So far its good. I've experienced a few bugs like when changing wallpaper from setting, the system hang. Have to lock the screen first. And, after using different custom rom anything related to a12, the Bluetooth quality for my earbuds is dropping especially in volume, The sound quality from is thin. Experienced the same issue with the speaker.

I flashed this ROM with no real issues - I didn't use the TWRP Recovery suggested, but the latest version of OrangeFox and everything seemed to work fine (although I have noticed when returning to OF Recovery, it says something about "failed to mount" when I try to wipe cache & dalvik)
When I long press on the Home screen to access Launcher settings, and then select Developer options, it reports that QuickStep crashed & returns me to the Home screen.
I'm guessing I can't change the Home screen grid size? Can't get rid of that hideous Google Search bar? And can't get rid of that annoying wide 'pill' thing at the bottom of the screen? If I use a custom Launcher, presumably I lose my system wide gesture navigation?
The screen magnification seems rather large, even on its 'smallest' setting.
So far, apart from the above, everything seems to be working well & fast.

Dirty flashing is ONLY suggested for a weekly trivial update on the same ROM. Changing ROMs, and API level in this case, it is unfathomable to expect to have a working phone with a dirty flash. Even if it boots, which it probably won't, as in your case, the end result will certainly not be what it is supposed to be. You'll end up with a lagfest and apps closing, and then blame it on the ROM...
So , yes, it is normal that your phone won't boot.. Clean flash, formating data by typing "yes" and using the latest beta recovery is the way to go in order to have the latest Android a couple of weeks after Google releases it. We've come a long way... Porting used to take 6 months...
Nice custom rom. Really smooth with good bb. No deep sleep bug while bluetooth on.
The only rom where volte and vowifi works out of the box without problems (germany)
Haven't found heavy bugs while one day of using. Excelent. Keep going!
EDIT: After a while "camera lost connection error". Only reboot helps to solve the issues
I'm also seeing some camera issues. Opening the stock camera app sometimes results in a "can't connect to camera" error. If I dismiss the camera app & reopen it, I then see a camera image but it's frozen, dismiss & reopen, it's an updated image but frozen again. It takes several attempts to get a working camera image.
Also, I seem to be having trouble updating apps (possibly only Google apps?) in the Playstore - the downloads get stuck at various X% and I have to cancel & try again multiple times (it's not my internet which is working fine). I've tried clearing Playstore cache & data, but it hasn't helped.
i can confirm the camera issues. happened with elixir os as well, but with arrowOS it seems less frequent
I also had this camera issue both in arrow 11 and 12 but it almost never happens in arrow 12
Also can someone tell me how this rom preforms? (bugs, fluidity, battery life, etc)
Im currently using arrow os 12 and it is pretty good so i was wondering if i could update it to 13 now or wait for a more stable release

I've found this ROM to be remarkably smooth, fluid & stable. Although I admit I haven't used my Redmi Note 7 much as it's now a 'backup' phone. But anytime I've picked up the handset with this ROM on, it's been working fine.
There are obviously a few camera issues, but they don't seem to occur that often.
I'm still a little unsure about battery life - at first it seemed fine, but lately I've started noticing that when the phone has simply been left on standby all day (no active use) that by the end of the day it's down from 100% to say 30% which seems rather excessive for being on standby (handset isn't warm at all though).
Hi there,
I want to try this ROM, but I would prefer to install it without GApps. Is it possible to upload a Vanilla Version of it, so I can use MicroG instead of GApps?

Oh i see, i would like to hear from more people their opinion on the battery life because i still use it as my only phone and so it is pretty important to me. Thanks tho
(Also, could it be that you left the bluetooth on? I read that some android 12 roms had problems with the deep sleep while the bluetooth was on, i dont know if it could be the case)
I checked my RedmiNote7 before going to bed last night. It was at 84% battery & Bluetooth/WiFi/4G data were all off (GPS location service was on). The phone was not plugged in to charge. Approximately 8hrs later when I woke up (so the phone wasn't even touched all night) the battery was down to approx. 48%
The GSam battery info (screenshot attached) seems to indicate this is all down to Kernel & Android System (the handset wasn't warm).
There doesn't seem to be a lot happening here. Is anyone, besides myself, actually using this ROM? Is it being maintained or is the initial release the only release?
for me most of the things work perfectly, only the gcam doesn't work, the battery consumption even pleasantly surprised me
It is still in early developement stage at official channels - I think it will finally come to lavender officially (13.0)
This is the best rom for lavender. The battery stats are impressive, I don't know how they managed it. It's a pity that the camera does not work. Please, fix. I would really appreciate it

ok
flashed since 2 days with omnitrix and it works well. Sometimes or rarely, i have little freeze and lags but doesn't make the device unusable.
Basic customizations but essential to personalize a little the device.
I flash pixel launcher mods to have D2TS on launcher.
I will try new sushi launcher port soon.
Rom is smooth and BB is good. Charging is speed.
The rom is all i want.
Better with no lags or no freeze.
I tried logcat but each time i do it, no lags and no freeze
What version of OmniTrix are you using? I just tried this version that they shared in the telegram group and it works much better.

Because it has been removed temporarily
What are the installation instructions for coming from A12?
Been using version 5.2 since a little bit before 5.4 came out. Overall had no problems except bluetooth compatibility. I've been using my Sony WF-1000XM4 since a year ago with no problem on Pixel OS with the LDAC playback quality set to "Optimized for Audio Quality" through the Headphones app but for some reason in Pixel Extended I have to go through developer options every time and set it through that setting while also experiencing some heavy delays/cuts
Edit: Also for some reason I can't for the life of me find applock
I've been having some seriously bad issues with battery draining roughly 80-85% overnight on the 5.2 version.. that's about 8-9 hours from the time I go to bed until I wake up! I fully charge it before I go to sleep in case of an emergency or event that requires me to leave unexpectedly in the middle of the night. The culprit is Android system... I don't have any specific details, aside from what checking battery usage is through settings.. I'm not sure why this problem has just begun over a period of about a week... I've been using this ROM for about 3 weeks without any issues at all ! Battery life has been phenomenal until about 4 to 5 days ago ! I noticed a new version of the ROM on sourceforge, version 5.4 ? Does this update address the issues with Android system eating up the battery at */- 80% over an 8 -10 hour period of non use.. again, I charge it fully before I go to sleep and clear all the apps from memory every night before I go to sleep... This is almost like a ritual for me... Kind of like an OCD thing I do nightly.. any input would be great! I'll try and get a log cat for you the next time this occurs.. BTW, are there any apps that you would prefer a log from? Best wishes, I'm not *****in' , but merely trying to bring awareness.. I love this ROM and would hate to be forced to use any other.. The 5.4 version has addressed the battery issues! Thank you!

I've been on 5.5 for a few days and it's smokin'fast and smooth! Thank you for the quick updates! Send like the battery life is far better. I do have one concern that probably has nothing to do with this ROM, but it did appear in the playstore after having upgraded to the 5.5 version. From what I've read it seems this has been there all along as a part of all Android software. I've read several reviews and naturally there are so many trolls that made reviews that I don't know who to trust. I've attached a screenshot from the updates section. I will not update until I know that it's "truly safe" to do so. If it's not, I'll uninstall the darn thing. All of this aside, I would like to thank you for this great ROM and the super fast updates! Your work is greatly appreciated by myself and probably most other folks using it as well.

Your work is greatly appreciated by myself and probably most other folks using it as well.

best rom i have used so far .
I used 5.4 until yesterday, the battery holds up well, so far I haven't found any complaints.
Did the OTA update to 5.5 in a few minutes this morning. This is my first rom with which I managed to do this without any problems.
If 5.5 will be better than 5.4, I'm the happiest man in the world
