[GUIDE] How to Restore Stock Kernel from ROM

I posted the original version of this guide in the Pixel Experience forum because I needed a way to recover the stock Oniichan kernel from the PE ROM after I had flashed other kernels over it, without first backing up my boot partition. This is because the latest Oniichan kernel isn’t posted online, unlike Genom, Predator, etc. This solution uses OrangeFox and can be applied to any ROM with minor modification.
The ROM file that you flashed to your phone should include a boot image file called boot.img which contains the kernel. So, we simply extract boot.img from the ROM and flash this image to the Android boot partition. This will replace the new kernel with the stock kernel from our ROM, after which we re-flash Magisk if we need root (no need to re-flash modules), and we should be back to stock. Here are the steps to restore your stock kernel:
1. Retrieve a copy of your current ROM zip file
2. Expand zip file and extract boot.img
3. Save boot.img to phone storage (e.g., SD card)
4. Reboot phone into OrangeFox recovery
5. Do OrangeFox backup of boot partition (e.g., to SD card)
6. Select the boot.img file and attempt to flash it normally
7. From choice of target partitions select “Boot”
8. Swipe right to install image as instructed
9. Flash should complete in 10-15 seconds
10. Re-flash Magisk to restore root if needed (no need to re-flash modules)
11. Reboot phone to system
12. In settings check kernel version to verify desired kernel was restored
FYI, you can use this method to extract the kernel from any ROM and flash it to your phone, but you should first verify that the new kernel is compatible with your current ROM before you flash it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
thx
Thanks

You're welcome.
I just flashed Pixel and NGK (both latest) today. By flashing the boot.img does it remove all of my data? Or It'll flash only for the kernel itself?

Quick magisk and twrp installer/restore executables beta2 and 10.3.8 Oxygen OSs

I Made both a fold with. Bat executable files to double click on and install boot.img files that have twrp and magisk preinstalled. Also a secondary executable that copy both magisk2.1.4 and a orangefox recovery zip files to your phone once in recovery or adb mode.
Just made them as quick installers and restoring root on The phone.
Installation
1. Extract zip file.
2. Goto bootloader mode or recovery mode. (bootloader mode to install root/twrp and recovery mode to send files to your phone.)
3. Just goto the folder and execute either. Bat files you want.
Enjoy
10.3.8
Beta2

[HOW TO][SM-G900X] crDroid 7.20+ or LineageOS 18.1+

As you know, you need to upgrade the modem and radio firmware from 6.0.1 Android version to make the latest LineageOS or other ROM to work.
You can't do this for this specific device, SM-G900X (Galaxy S5 Live Demo Unit), as the ODIN will fail to flash the files.
But you can modify the ROM to make it past boot-loop quite easy.
Here's what you need to do in order to make it work:
Install latest TWRP for TWRP for KLTE;
You can do this with both ODIN or direct upgrade using TWRP image inside TWRP;
Boot into the TWRP;
Load a ROM .zip on the device like crDroid;
You can upload to SDCard using USB while on TWRP;
Wipe everything (except Internal SD Card);
Install the ROM;
Check if it boot-loop;
Now you need to fix the ROM, which is quite easy:
Boot back into the TWRP recovery;
Go to: Mount -> System (check);
Go back;
Go to: Advanced -> File Manager;
Navigate to: /system/vendor/lib;
Delete or rename: libsec-ril.gsm.so, libsec-ril.usc.so, libsec-ril.vzw.so;
Reboot and enjoy .
what if those files are not present in vondor/lib folder and still is boot loop
G900X is on snapdragon or exynos?

i was flashed with twrp custom recovery by using Odin tool . But when I enter the twrp menu ...
I was not able to find the magisk zip file
Even though i put it my internal storage before . But it was not showing twrp menu
After flashing with twrp recovery. I cannot acess my storage of m20 device in my laptop . Is there any way put magisk zip to internal storage of m20 device ..
Please help me if solution exist . Sorry for bad english
ever heard of adb? you can push files to phone, or pull files out of device.
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
twrp also has command line tool to install zip files without touch screen.
https://twrp.me/faq/openrecoveryscript.html
but note the way you're trying to install Magisk is outdated, most likely you're following any random unofficial tutorial. according to official installation instructions, the whole ROM has to be patched from Magisk apk.
