Crossflashing possible? my DualSIM HongKong V405EBW20a to European DualSIM firmware - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Hi all, finally decided to bite bullet again after bricked LG V20 (2 yrs ago) and bought DualSIM V405EBW. LGUP reports that its on OPEN_HK_DS and last released firmware was 20a
Is it possible that I crossflash to OPEN_EU_DS 20g without losing any functionality for dualSIM ?
What about bootloader unlock? LG dev website reports my device isn't supported for bootloader unlock so I guess I have to try v35 engg bootloader method.
I keep phones for root+adblock+mods . Especially can't live without adblock. Blockada is just a workaround which doesn't work to my satisfaction.

Be careful, you might have signal loss like me, I still don't have a solution for my signal loss. You better make a back up of your original FW with qfil. Make a dump and if you're kind enough share it with me I need to get my signal back.

which particular partitions u need? Also, have u tried partitionDL OPEN-HK 20a?
I stuck with 20a and BL unlocked, TWRP etc. I'm on havoc 3.5 now with everything working (except only one back camera and one front camera being accessible. Edit: Fixed that with burial Gcam 7 + config + enabling the 3 cameras from advanced settings )

I need the modem**.bin if you have all the modem part just share them with me. I'm still stuck with no signal ?

Optimus L90 Unable to Root, Unable to boot into recovery mode

Hi
I have gone through the forums and can't seem to find solution for my problem with my Optimus L90 phone.
I have recently flashed the CM13 on my phone without any errors but below are the issues that I am facing
1. No cellular network signal after inserting SIM card.
2. I read in a different forum that this could happen due to using a wrong version of TWRP, so installed a newer version 2.8.7.0 but things worse.
3. Now I am not able to boot into recovery mode and phone just stays idle with the LG logo screen and few commands appearing like fastboot_iniy() and udc_start().
4. I have tried hard reset and soft reset and both are not successful.
5. I cannot root my phone either. Tried all ways like towelroot, purpledrake, lg root by avicoh etc but in vain
Now my phone, even though has a latest CM version I cannot use it for anything else.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
No SIM is hardly related to TWRP, probably you needed a different bootstack (there is a thread about it).
On CM you don't need anything to root, it's already rooted just not visible to common users, you need to activate Developer Options (it's also explained elsewhere)
Finally, if you cannot reach recovery but still can boot CM13 simply use adb, Flashfy or Hashr to flash another version or TWRP. 2.8.7 is kinda old and not recommended for Marshmallow, you can try 3.0.2 by SlimShady or DarkBlue version from shoxxy's thread.
Thanks for the reply, let me try options you have specified and get back if I am still facing issues

I was able to unblock my phone finally and loaded the stock ROM but the phone is still isn't recognizing cellular network . I am on T-MOBILE. I have tried to insert different SIM, turned off wifi calling but still the phone is not catching any cellular network.
[lfom]: you indicated earlier that a different bootstack might be needed. I am not that knowledgeable about bootstack so can you help me through this or point me to different thread where users might have a similar issue.
Sorry, I meant to say unbrick above

Hi,
I followed the steps mention in the above thread to change the bootstack and was able to complete it without any issues, however the problem still persists and my phone is not recognizing the SIM and does not catch the cellular network.
Previously I used to use this phone with my t-mobile number and after I took a new phone haven't been using it for sometime. I want to sell this phone and was trying to ensure that it works fine and thats when I saw that the phone is not catching any cellular networks.
Please help. Let me know if you need any other details to better diagonize the problem.

You didn't say what model you have, maybe you flashed the wrong bootstack for your model (hardware version)? Be very careful, you can hart brick your device, and if it's a D415 it's very hard to unbrick. I'd suggest that first you make sure what model you have by removing the battery and looking in the label below, it says what model you have. Then, use LG Flash Tool to flash stock ROM (KDZ) to latest KitKat, then flash Lollipop or use OTA to update to latest version. The only requirements are that you make sure what model you have and flash the corresponding version, and the phone is still able to enter download mode.

[lfom]: thank you for responding. My phone model is LG-D415 . Actually my phone was bricked but I was able to get into download mode and then I used the L90 Hardbrick tool to flash stock ROM (KDZ) to latest kitkat like you have specified above. Then with the OTA update I was able update it to latest lollipop. Then I followed this forum below to to change the bootstack to KK 10C version as the issue specified in the below thread was similar to mine.

Do you think I should have used the LG flash tool to flash stock ROM. Should I repeat the steps with the LG flash tool ?
Thank you again for helping me on this.
Do you see your IMEI in the about phone page? Does it match the one in the label? Maybe when you bricked you've lost the phone's IMEI, and you can't get it back just flashing ROM...

Yes I checked and it matches. There two fields IMEI which has the number and then there is another field which says IMEI SV and it has a value of 02 in it.

Used P9 - Missing Stock Apps

Hello everyone!
I just bought an used P9 (EVA-L19) in pristine condition. It arrived with the nougat update but it is missing all Huawei apps. I don't think I really mind not having those (less bloat, hurray!), but I really want at least the camera app! What should I try? This thing is full stock (unrooted), and I'd rather keep it that way... Should I just flash the full stock firmware? HiSuite claims my phone is up to date, but I've got no idea how to check what build my current firmware is.
Thanks!
Oooh... the build seems to be NRD90M "test-keys", which appears to be an old beta build from my googling. Do I have to go back to MM and then upgrade to Nougat? Hopefully I can do all that without a custom recovery...
You have an intermediate firmware.
Search here the B378 for C432 if you want the european version (wich is working fine; some other last updates may have some problems - for example, with B383 me and others have problems with the battery).
Where are you from ??

I'm from Brazil, but I know for a fact this phone isn't brazilian. It comes with a bunch of stuff written in spanish rather than portuguese, and a warranty certificate citing a bunch of spanish-spekaing latin american countries. I'm browsing through the forums and trying to find out what is my Cust yet. But thanks for the response.
Also, if I have to flash something, is it better to stick with Nougat or is Marshmallow more hassle-free?
(I've attached a screenshot of the status screen from Huawei P9 Tool, this is all the data I could gather so far)
I can't read the screenshot ...
On the "About the phone - Version number" what do you have ??
For example, mine has EVA-L19C432B378, where:
-EVA-L19 is the phone model (P9 dual sim);
-C432 is the european version;
-B378 is the firmware version.
Also, you can read that thread too ... https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-downgrade-nrd90m-to-marshmallow-t3541400

All it says on "Version number" is "NRD90M test-keys". I've read that thread, but to downgrade you need a ROM, and without knowing my Cust ID I'm not sure which ROM I should get.
The screenshot shows my serial number (XVV7N16425001010), the model (EVA-L19 - Dual Sim 32GB Rom 3GB RAM) and a weird build string (eng.jenkin.20161230.130431)

It does have dual SIM, and is the EVA-L19. So no NFC then. Does it help? I'm currently looking for debranding guides because I can't find what branding this phone originally had.
Oooh well... so far:
1- *#*#2846579#*#* doesn't work (nothing happens), can't enable Manufacturer mode for DC Unlocker
2- The HUAWEI EMUI site doesn't give me a bootloader unlock code, so can't unlock the bootloader with the official method
So, so far, I can't install TWRP, so I can't flash a C432 oeminfo.bin
Also, the Rollback instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/rollback-eva-l19-android-7-0-emui-5-0-t3496091 fail, as the rollback intermediate firmware just fails at 5% claiming to be incompatible with my device.
Aside from blindly trying to flash random firmwares with the three button method, do you guys have ANY ideas at all? I need a rest, just wasted the whole day trying to get this damned thing fixed
Sad thing: even with a borked firmware install this is still orders of magnitude better than my old Lumia 930.
EDIT: GODDAMMIT, BLUETOOTH ALSO DOESN'T WORK!

I'll give the instructions of the first post a try, though they did not work for the OP.
EDIT: AAAAAND the 800mb file is downloading at 28kbps... this won't be fun
I'm not sure if it would've been better to edit the last post or add a new one, so if this is agains the rules (I've read them and couldn't find it), please inform me and I'll change things accordingly... buuuut.... IT WORKED.
The OP on the topic absynte pointed out never really posted the outcome of his issue and it looked like he never got it to work, so here is what I did:
Flashed the zip file
I flashed the zip file linked in this post through starting up with vol up + vol down + power. Exactly like the guy over there it did not solve my issue, but did uncover I had exactly the same build as him (EVA-L19C185B361 - Middle East / Asia)
Flashed the intermediate firmware
I download the correct intermediate firmware (C185B300) from here and flashed the same way. The *#*#... menu did not work (as in the menu itself didn't show up)
Flashed a MM build
I downloaded and flashed C185B180 for whatever reason (could've gone with tha latest MM build right away AFAIK). Worked great, all stock apps were there and so was bluetooth
Let the phone update itself through OTA
It updated itself to B210 (or B220, don't remember well) and then B385. Seems to be working fine, but I haven't given the battery a fair chance (constantly flashing and updating stuff) to judge its performance.
Thanks everyone for the help!

No SIM / No WIFI: qcn/xqcn files needed to restore IMEI/MAC

Hello All,
November update... It took a whole time to get my phone booting again but I don't have SIM or WIFI anymore.
I think my IMEI's are gone, even as MAC for WIFI.
I tried recovery image (that's what solved the boot problem).
I took backups but some parts seems to be corrupted so I can't recover from there.
Does someone have the (x)qcn available for flashing over QPST (or even over TWRP to change afterwards over QPST)?
I found different versions online but I think it's checked against model number; mine is: M1804D2SG (SI doesn't work)
Yes... I will change your IMEI!
Thanks!

Can XZ1 Compact SO-02K run Custom ROMs?

I have successfully unlocked the bootloader for my SO-02K. Can I flash Lineage OS on it or are those only meant for G8441? Are there Custom ROMs for SO-02K?
Thank you in advance.
I just tried converting my SO-02K to a G8441 and was successful in a way. I was able to install TWRP, flash Lineage OS 18.1, and root using Magisk v22.1.
NFC no longer works but I don't really use it so not a big deal.
You can't use the phone while charging: it works but the touch is very flaky. It's okay though as it allows me not to use the phone while charging and thus prolonging my battery life.
I will try it as my daily driver to check for more bugs if there are.
Edit (04/17/21):
Temperature ranges from 35°C to 45°C. It gets warm when I am internet sharing. I guess that's why it's called hotspot .
It seems the flaky touchscreen while charging was because of a faulty cable. Touch is okay now even when charging.
The Google Streetview app is not working very well. You can search but trying to re-center the location crashes the app. The Google Maps app is not able to center in to your location but all else works. GPS works on Mi Fit app though as I can see my location. Find Device works as well. So only the "centering" function doesn't work in Maps and Streetview.
Everything else is working fine at the moment. Again this is on Lineage OS 18.1.

Yes, the information about converting an SO-02K to G8441 is very scarce. It's why I gambled and tried it anyway.
I haven't tried re-flashing the Docomo firmware. I think this is one of the hardware differences of the Docomo and Global versions. I am okay without the NFC but if a dev can help fix the NFC then I will be really grateful.

You will need to use qUnlock tool if Bootloader unlock allowed: No. You need to pay around £24 to NUGSM to get credentials for the qUnlock tool. You will need to do Sim Unlock so that Bootloader unlock allowed can be set to Yes. You can then unlock your bootloader. You can search Google for more info about unlocking the bootloader. You will need to have ADB and Fastboot installed in your PC. You can search XDA for minimal ADB and Fastboot installer.

As mentioned above, I used qUnlock to unlock my bootloader. Once you unlock your bootloader, you can use Magisk to get root and delete all Docomo apps using system apps uninstaller. Or you can use a custom ROM to get a stock android feel. You lose the NFC and other Sony apps like 3D Creator though. As of now, HavocOS has been the most stable for me.

Thanks for the info. Do you think I could flash a stock rom from the international version of the device after I unlock bootloader?

Maybe. I haven't found a way to do so. I tried new flashtool and xperia tool but it doesn't work because it detects your Compact is not the same region as the ROM you are trying to flash. I am unsuccessful in force flashing it with an international stock ROM. Havoc OS GApps build is your best bet if you want a functioning ROM. LineageOS is also okay but I've personal had battery drain issues and overheating problems with the ROM. As always, NFC doesn't work due to difference in the NFC chip or driver.

Ok that makes sense. Could you link me to the root guide you used? I want to wipe this DoCoMo bloat.

You can click the link I posted a few posts back to unlock the bootloader.
For recovery installation, I use ADB and Fastboot method. I don't really have a link on hand, I just followed the same steps for installing recoveries. Should be plenty of threads here in XDA.
For root, I just installed Magisk. Get Magisk then install the app then reboot to recovery. You can flash Magisk by renaming the extension from apk to zip.
Nothing too different from normal installation of recovery and rooting. Unlocking the bootloader is easy though can be expensive.

Hmm. I haven't yet attempted flashing SO-02K firmware to a G8441 or vice-versa, but this doesn't make any sense to me...at least assuming that the bootloader is truly unlocked on the device. If it's unlocked, you can flash whatever the heck bits you want to it. No guarantee it will actually *work*, but you can certainly flash it.
If your bootloader is unlocked but neither Flashtool nor Newflasher will cooperate, I'd try leaving the baseband/modem firmware alone but extracting system.sin and kernel.sin (and maybe oem.sin) from your FTF, and then using Sin extractor tool from Flashtool to uncompress/extract the EXT4 and ELF images from these SINs and then perhaps using regular old fastboot to flash each extracted image to its respective partition.
Hello, glad to see someone else having the so-02k and I really interesting on your experience with the custom rom. I read a lot of stuff that says unlocking bootlaoder will break some software like camera and audio... How is your experience about that with the custom roms ? Is the camera comparable to the stock one ? Is the audio and other stuff like display color calibration work well ?
Moreover, the main issue of this phone compared to the g8441 is the LTE bands support. As we know the modem of our phone is limited to the japanese bands, and, for example, in Italy (where I live) the 2G and 3G work great but the 4G didn't get the signal, beacuse in my city we have the b20 band.
Now, how is your experience with that issue ? Did you try something to unlock other bands or in your zone you can go over LTE without any problem ?
Thanks in advance =)

The stock camera doesn't work on Android 11. You will need to get another camera app or use the one pre-installed with the Custom ROM. I'm not a camera guy, so as far as the camera, it is pretty usable and quality is great.
Regarding LTE, I live in Asia too. I'm in the Philippines and my LTE connection is good. I think we have similar LTE basebands used in the SO-02K so I have no problem with the network.
I am running Havoc-OS v4.6 and it has been stable for me. Apart from the NFC (hardware difference), the Custom ROM is running smoothly.

Again this is on Lineage OS 18.1.

hi @pritos
can you please share a link for the guide to convert zx1c from SO-02K to G8441

[Guide] How to convert s10-g973N to sm-g973f, change csc from skc to koo or any another, fix emergency calls only. No need of paid apps, boxes etc.

**********This is first time am posting a guide so pardon me. *******
********As usual am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.*******
*****Am not claiming ownership of the above technique, its what worked for me*****
I saw many posts here about people struggling to change csc from skc to koo or international***
Others had issue with their phone suddenly lost network and just displays emergency calls only****
so I have s10 sm-g973n which had csc as koo then flashed skc my mistake. The phone booted with annoying skc boot logo, and branded junk from the carrier. Then one morning the phone couldn't connect to gsm network!
I tried all manner of things to fix it. Rooted with magisk, flashed custom rom nothing.
Tried samkey to change csc still nothing. modified odin in flashing multi csc rom nothing.
Got some luck in changing csc by editing efs/imei/mps_code.dat using root explorer, text editor and vola the carrier junk disappeared. But still no network.
was told only way is to use z3x box or chimera to patch certificate but didn't give up. I posted question here in xda but no guide or response.
But that gave me an idea of what could be the issue- corrupt efs that needs the certificate to be patched. so got keyword.
After watching many YouTube videos I came across a video about a rom that has certificate patched. Just flash with odin and done!
I downloaded and followed the instructions. The phone booted up fine and after going through initial setup the network was back!
Not only did the network came back but the model changed to F, csc became oxm! You can now use tools like Samfw from too to change csc to your local region.
Later in the day, will be flashing firmware with my region csc.
Here is the link to the rom:

Yes sim 2 will work. And after completing flash stock rom for security reasons. Because the above rom is rooted and modified we don't know how secure it is. after network certificates are patched now flash a stock rom from eg sammobile or samfw etc.
When i flash this file the storage becomes 64gb
Hey bro have u found any android 12 rom for g973N ???

Did you find a fix for that? For me the internal memory become 32Gb. Is there a solution for that?
I bought an S10 that turned out to be a G973N(SKC) flashed to G973F-D/S(XSG). I think they used this method and these files to do it. I can't get the OEM unlock option to come up. I've tried everything. I am starting to think that it's because of the XSG country code. I was going to try to change it XEU (Great Britain) in SamFW but it just stalls and doesn't do anything. Any suggestions on what I can do here to change the country code? I need that OEM unlock option so I can degoogle it.
Hi guys,
I have I big problem with this rom man, each time I restart my phone i lost network and I have to reflash your rom and factory reset the phone to get it back. It's like it's forbidden to restart the phone, otherwise my network get lost and IMEI Status NG again.. Is there a fix for that? Thank you. Is there a for that fix?
Or do you guys have a rom based on android 12 for g973n u7 converted to dual sim that can solve this IMei STATUS NG? I watched on youtube some guys that have it but it's not free or I can't pay that from here in my cluntry the poorest country in the world.
