I received my ROG Phone 3 yesterday and began trying to unlock the bootloader, but I don't get the toggle switch to turn on OEM Unlocking. Does this mean the phone is in lock jail for 7 days? Unfortunately it is the Tencent version with the global ROM.

No I guess ... You can just enable USB debugging and proceed with the normal unlocking procedure ...
I'm on the global version and it worked for me
I've already had USB debugging enabled but still no go, I wish I knew more about these Tencent and Global variants otherwise I would have done a bit more research before buying it

There are so many variants out there, no one knows right now unfortunately. ASUS released way too many different versions.

Wat does happen when you try to unlock it? Like click on unlock in the app?
My WW version didn't have oem unlock. Just use the unlock app.

I guess for a Tencent to global version this issue is acknowledged by the asus team ...

As we all know the development of our device isin't going great because of the Huawei decision to stop bootloader unlocking but we have a developer who is ready to work on our device And he already successfully ported the twrp for our device which is available in the development section but future development is halted because of the lack of the required files which can only be obtained from the devices with a root access which is only possible with unlocked bootloader .So anyone who has an unlocked bootloader and want to contribute in the future development of Honor play, please! ping me or drop down a comment or a reply below.

please check in develop menu,that "enable oem unlock" switch active or inactive... if inactive, you and other people can't open bootloader...

Actually we need people with unlocked bootloader and yeah it's available for me and i think only Chinese varient of the phone can't be unlocked. Cuz Indian varient still have this option even after updating to emui 9.

The option disappeared for me too. I checked after updating to .157 build
I'm 156 and it is blocked.

yes,but if the switch is inactive it cannot be enabled... see attached picture, inactive the "enable oem unlock" switch on my phone... if you can't turn it on, you can't enable opening,if there is any code, then... if this switch is active, then approving bootloader opening/unlocking... but have unlock code, but switch is inactive, cannot open bootloader with code...

@asser19 why is it not possible to open it now? if you want to modify your system, buy a phone that is less secure, huawei/honor is now a safer mobile phone that can not be opened and can not be rooted, this is not a problem

yes, legitimate, but modification can cause damage to motherboard, which would be replaced by a warranty, thus causing damage to the manufacturer, not due to improper use, therefore, to prevent this, the manufacturer may block system modification

Now phone is locked.

No I use the app from my own bank to pay with nfc, but I don't think Google pay can block oem it would be really strange
For all those guys who has upgraded to pie And oem unlock is not available, i suggest you to downgrade to oreo via hisuite(yes the option is available now in hisuite) and then enable oem unlock cuz it's available in oreo and then upgrade to pie again.

i try, not anymore show hisuite to downgrade previous version... i update to first public release pie, hisuite show downgrading, i install january update, downgrade function disappeared

My device is LG v40 with model number: LM-V405UA of AT&T. Until now, I can't find a way to access the bootloader. I tried two way below:
adb reboot bootloader OR
turn off the phone (or reboot), as soon as it turns on, hold volume down while USB cable is connected
But nothing happens, my device just restart. I still don't know why?

Because the US variants had the bootloader access's blocked....and we can't officially unlock said bootloader...but we do have an unofficial way of unlocking.... it's just a paid option....

I also bought rog phone 3 tencent edition and I also had that problem but used the unlock app on this website, finally unlocked my rog phone 3.

I downloaded the bootloader unlock app on the website, and I touched 'unlock' and my phone rebooted.
I needed to select the language and storage was cleaned also.
It's unlocked well right?

I found logo and need to select the language, and every app or setting were the same when I first turn on the phone.

Been posted NUMEROUS times guys. Your phone was unlocked, and relocked by the seller. Theres NO WAY to Unlock again. Get a refund, buy a proper phone.

Ok so I just upgraded to android 11 and want to unlock the bootloader but while doing it through the app it says failed to unlock the device why is that?
Also I have never unlocked my device before it's the first time I'm trying to do so..
Do a backup of your data you don't wanna loose and flash raw file with A10 available here in ROG3 section. Then your unlock tool will work. After you unlock you can update and restore data. Bootloader remains open until you lock it again with abd or app.
after install tool Unlock Device App Version V9.1.0.19 and press unlock your device show message your device unlocked but my device locked i cant flash any img what i do ?

Tencent converted to ww CANNOT be unlocked, because Asus only allows one unlock.

I do not have the oem unlock toggle at all. it's not there. I tried changing my date and time, resetting my phone, dev options is on. Its been months since i've had this phone prob longer. i dont get why its not there?

what model number do you have and where was it bought ?
if it's a US or Canadian model you can't unlock the bootloader.
