Internet dies when phone reaches exactly 15% battery or less - how to solve? - Xiaomi Redmi 8 Questions & Answers

I'm currently dealing with an extremely specific bug with my Redmi 8 running stock MIUI 11. Whenever the battery falls below 15%, both the Wi-Fi and mobile internet stop working, while still appearing as connected. Every single application I try behaves as if the signal was extremely low. Connecting the phone to the charger immediately returns the internet to normal, plugging it off before the battery reaches 15% immediately kills the internet again. Is there some hidden configuration to control the trigger that automatically disables the internet connection?

There must be a battery saving app that restricts connectivity when battery falls to 15% and allows reconnection when charger connected.

There's the problem, outside of the default applications that come with MIUI, I have nothing else that is supposed to restrict connectivity exactly at 15%. Does someone have a list of which MIUI applications are capable of changing system parameters depending on the level of the battery? Because it looks like I'll have to debug something in order to reset some apps.

I have the same device with the same software (I have the indian version of miui) but my phone behaves differently and not at 15% but at 20%. What happens is that notifications suddenly stop coming. At 15% vibrations and click sounds stop. But I have no issue with connectivity. Apps work normal I just don't receive notifications.

Battery saver settings must be setted wisely as per your needs. All problems will be resolved.

How to tackle my Z3C battery drain issues?? I'm fed up

I'm fed up a bit for my Z3 C battery life. This is my second query regarding battery life.
Does keeping Mobile data and Whatsapp running ON even in standby mode drains the battery??
I usually get just 1 or 2 whatsapp messages in an hour or two.
My phone settings-
Always turned off my wifi/ bt/ nfc/ gps/ location tracking/ autoupdates etc. & everything you can think and suggest.
Use only stock custom wallpaper and no live stuff. No widgets. No sd card inserted. With only two hoemscreen wih just 2 shortcuts on each screen.
Have disabled apps which I dont use.
Stopped services of apps which are no longer needed.
No auto sync enabled for any app.
Display brightness is at 30% all times.
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
I use only these 3rd party apps-
Status bar mini
Network monitor mini
Whatsapp
Greenify
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
My daily Z3 routine-
At night while going to sleep I turn off mobile data, turn on airplane mode and turn on stamina mode. (12:30am - 9:30am)
When I wake up the next day battery is down by 4-5%.
During day, phone runs in normal mode without any stamina activated. (10am - 12:30am)
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
The Low-battery mode seems useless as it does literally nothing.
Also, as soon as the battery is 100% charged and if I use phone for even 5 mins the battery immediately drops to 99%, so is this normal??
Even if I capture 5 photos in stock auto mode the battery drops by 1% or 2.
I reboot my phone once a week or in 10 days or when need arises.
Ram utilised is always 1gb. But I dont feel any slowness for any app or my phone usage.
But again I dont watch any movies or play games fearing my battery will deplete in no time.
I use 2G/edge network as 3G isnt available for my operator in the city I reside.
Charging the phone to 100% from 14% takes 3 to 3.5 hours.
I have already repaired my phone using Sony pc companion and also did a factory reset as well but this issue has been haunting me every now and then.
Sony center says the battery doesnt need any replacement as its still healthy and so is my device.
The phones service menu also reports battery status as Good.
I dont know when is Lollipop gonna be out for Z3 but I fear updating to Lollipop as it may pose more issues than doing any good apart from usual gui tweaks & updates.
But just wish that lollipop brings in more relief to Z3 batteries.
It would be better if you also posted some screenshots with your battery usage.

EVERYTHING drains battery, literally everything. If your volume is on max it also drains more then when your volume is very low. (Just an example)
There is a controversy when it comes to WiFi vs 3G which drains more.
In the end I think that it depends on the coverage. For me 3G/4G drains my battery less then my WiFi due to the poor WiFi reception.
That your phone loses about 5% over night really isn't THAT bad, what I do before I go to bed is "Close all" to close all the aps running in the background (It won't terminate WhatsApp's service) and I let Greenify hibernate all programs that I selected.
There was also a talk about charging your phone to 100% vs 99% the first percentage drains fast for everyone so that's why it's maybe better to only charge it till 99%.
With screenshots of your battery usage we could help you more, but as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with your battery.
If you're rooted, try BetterBatteryStats to pinpoint the drain.

Well my device isnt rooted nor I use any wifi.
And also I use Greenify to shutdown all apps before sleeping and also I do manual force stop for many other apps as well.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Sony Xperia Z5's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Battery drain rating on Sony's Stock ROM is only average (0.7-1% per hour in Airplane Mode), no matter if (unrooted) Stock ROM or with Custom Kernel; 0.5% at best with gauge tweaks and other modifications;
AOSP/CM ROM appears to be excellent - 1% per several hours;
doesn't come close to my Note 3 (a few per cents per day) or even my Galaxy S1 with the original battery (2-3% per day), but that's no disadvantage of the Z5 per se
battery's technology simply wasn't allowed to catch up with progress yet
Something keeps my device awaken - not sure what this could be, as the Wakelock Detector and other apps that can show culprits require root to run on Android versions from KitKat and above. This causes battery drain when the phone is not in use overnight. Does anyone else have similiar issue?

it's most likely something else
or part of the kernel or deep within the system,
because blocking wakelocks does hardly have any effect
I find my standby drain to be terrible. I can leave my phone in my pocket, with all background app closed down and it still somehow looses 30% in about an hour.
You keep breathing while sleeping
I use GSAM Battery Monitor to keep an eye on things. After a few weeks I'm happy enough with battery drain levels.
It mostly depends on phone signal; if I'm at home the signal is very weak and this can drive the standby drain up to nearly 10% an hour, and the phone can get warm. But if it has better phone signal then the drain can be as low as 2% or 3% per hour.
I have my phone set to turn off wifi when screen is off. I also use a Notification area weather app, Messenger, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc and I have a number of email accounts and calendars syncing regularly so I would say I'm not running things in a lean manner. I'm sure if I uninstalled most of these apps my standby time would be spectacular, but then I wouldn't be getting particularly good use out of my smartphone.

Have you tried with BREVENT APP together with an aggresive Doze app (Greenify, ForceDoze, NaptimeX)? I´ve now installed Brevent + Greenify and standby during night from 100% "only" takes me 0,5% per hour more or less.
Also inside Brevent you have possibility to access to AppOps (be careful with this option).
I found that Bluetooth was causing massive drain on my phone. The fix which worked for me without turning off bluetooth (I like it to auto connect when I get in the car) was Settings->Location, then click the 3 dots menu in the top right and then Scanning, turn off Bluetooth Scanning. There are a few other things you can do as well.

you have 96%, that prediction is BS, never the prediction come true.
I charge the phone 100%, tell me it going to last 12hours and go to sleep for ~7 hours and the battery is less than 30%.
the overheat over time killed the battery.

Drained like crazy
Got my Z Force yesterday and decided to test standby over night. What I got was 25% drain from 100 in 8 hours. The standby drain was cell standby. I'm hoping it will settle down but that's not good.

My cell standby is very low. Hopefully yours settles down.
Mine is very low as well. Even with low signal, I'm only dropping 30% or so throughout the course of a day with mild use.
Im getting around 5% drain while sleeping. Typically 5 hours a night so roughly 1% an hour
Be sure to turn wifi scanning off in "Location" - it appears to really drain and can end up keeping your phone awake. My first few days I had really bad drain but turning that off and some days with and without the mod and it has really settled.
Also be sure to close all your apps...that does make a difference as well.
5% drain here too. Approx 7 hours sleep. WiFi and cell active, with nothing deactivated.
Set your phone to disable WiFi when sleeping:
Settings -> WiFi -> Advanced "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" = "Only When Plugged In"
I was experiencing similar drain overnight (approx 20%) and this brought it down to about 3%
You can also selectively disable mobile data usage for apps in the background using the application manager. Recommend doing this for anything that might be a data hog or that you really don't want updating when your phone is asleep (e.g. twitter or other social media apps, if you don't care about notifications):
App Info -> App Data Usage -> Restrict App Background Data ON
These settings made a huge difference for me. Most apps are conservative about mobile data use by default (e.g. spotify isn't going to sync huge things over mobile while your phone is sleeping) -- I haven't noticed any particular increase in data use since doing this, but the battery savings is remarkable. Wifi is a big power drain.
Something causes the phone to not go to sleep sometimes. I have Greenify set up with Doze on the Go turned on. After a while, the sleep function just stops working and the phone has to be rebooted to get it to go back into the sleep mode. Haven't been able to figure this one out. Root would help us here.
Periodic rebooting does seem to help with standby drain.
Coming from an S7e, this phone is tops in this regard. Overnight I lose 10% at most. Almost always at 50%+ after work (7a-5p). Lenovo/Moto did it again! Just as happy as I was with the Turbo. Plus the chop chop works so much better, only ~5% fail rate. Fingerprint reader is much more useful than I ever imagined.

Omg I always wondered why the heck my phone always said WiFi battery usage was high even when I was on Airplane mode with my S5!
Thanks bro! ✌?

I had this problem too until I realized that I was using the fingerprint sensor to turn the device off. Greenify has an option for this, but it doesn't seem to work with the Z Force. Greenify does work properly for me if I use the power button to turn the screen off. But it doesn't if I use the fingerprint sensor.
It's normal to Motorola. This is a fresh factory reset.

Wireless charging

Anyone else having trouble with wireless charging since Android 11 update?
Since the update, wireless charging is so slow as to sometimes DRAIN my battery. If anything is on the screen at all it won't charge. Had no problems at all on Android 10 with this phone.
I have the T-mobile variant. No new apps since the update.
maybe the update toggled fast wireless charging to off and you need to change it ?
settings / battery and device care / battery / more battery settings / wireless fast charging (down at the bottom of the page).
in general the phone will charge faster if you put it into airplane mode. also it doesn't keep any apps you've disabled asleep when you update. chrome has shown up as a battery hog even for people like me who've never used it. try optimising battery usage and selecting apps to put to sleep, deep sleep or disable again.

Nokia 8 Idle battery drain

i don't know if it was always this bad but i don't think so... just noticed that my phone drains battery like crazy on idle.
it was my main phone for 3 years so it was not staying idle as much but i think i would notice it from overnight drain if it was this bad.
i charged it to 80% then found it at 15% after 12-13 hours, i didn't touch it at all... i'm losing about 5% per hour
tried factory reset, debloating evenwell crap, uninstalling google apps that i don't use as well and didn't install anything yet the drain is still same. installed accubattery and it shows over 120mA consumption on idle, screen off... my new main phone drains around 20mA for example.
https://imgur.com/L16JjXW
this problem started after a battery replacement i think. the original battery was dead, it was rebooting at around 50% if i play a game or launch the camera... i had to replace that battery and those problems are solved now.
according to accubattery(it's pretty accurate imo) the capacity of the new battery is around 2650mah
and side button flex is replaced since my power button was faulty. did the service do something wrong? is there anything to explain this battery drain? maybe they didn't reapply a new thermal paste for example so cooling might be worse but i believe it shouldn't matter on idle. and i can't think of anything else...
edit: tried airplane mode and idle consumption was 22mA, anyone else had a similar issue?
edit2: tried mobile network active but wifi turned off, still 22mA i think wifi is draining like 100mA on its own...
okay i'm like 99% sure its a wifi problem.
when i turn off wifi the drain is normal if i turn on a hotspot from my other phone and keep it reaaaally close then drain is normal again. but if i put it far away drains over 100ma again. even worse if i leave the room and there a wall between them.
also i can connect to my router's 5ghz band but it always disconnects, can't stay connected. aaand it can't see my other phone's hotspot at all if i turn on the 5ghz hotspot.
i hope they just didn't connect the antenna cables properly and didn't permanently damage anything, can badly connected antenna wires cause a problem like that? i wanna be sure before opening the phone. i don't have proper glue yet i'll have to spend some money on it. don't wanna waste it if it's not something i can fix by reconnecting the wires...
