[HELP] Upgrading from Resurrection Remix - Nougat to Android Oreo, 9 or 10. - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

I'm using Huawei P8 Lite 2017, with Resurrection Remix Custom Rom by Haky86, on Android Nougat.
I was hesitant to upgrade before (2017) because at that time, many phones were bricked trying to upgrade to Oreo.
There were also some Vendor complications (China & Europe) for custom roms in Oreo.
I remember there were Partitions A & B? I didn't know what were those about.
I also still remember a warning to not use the most up to date version of our Stock Oreo Rom for our phone when trying to install the default stock rom for treble support.
I still have my bootloader unlock code, bootloader is unlocked, rooted, I've also watched a YouTube video how to upgrade using TWRP.
All I need now is some assistance with what not to do, some links to point me in the right direction, some info with what I've missed during these years like is TWRP still the main recovery? Or something I should take note of.

Up? Anybody?

Re-up. I really just need some opinions, feedbacks or experiences really. Someone to chat with would be nice in this thread.

First go to stock oreo. Use Hurupdater with a huawei frimware finder Rom.
Then do whatever you want.

This one? HuRUpdater 0.4: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-hurupdater-0-4-flash-official-firmware-in-recovery.3769279/
Is it easier and verified to be safer (no bootloop/bricked device), than the second guide below?
Do I have to rebrand first my oeminfo to "AL00C/AL00X/TL10C B220"?
I was gonna follow this guide: https://www.xda-developers.com/huaw...e-android-oreo-update-project-treble-support/

Wait, nevermind. I remember that it was only necessary since those versions were the only ones with Oreo updates before.
But now, PRA-LX2 has an Oreo update already, so it's not necessary to rebrand
Thanks, now I feel brave to upgrade.
I'll follow this guide by Fr0nK: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-emui8-and-treble-rom-on-p8-lite-2017.3773216/

yeah, that's the correct topic. I cannot guarantee any tool, use at your own risk.
I use it on pra-la1 and can confirm that workers. use suitable twrp and read the instructions.

Huawei P7 upgrading, rooting, stable roms

Hello,
I have rooted, installed roms on some other phones, but not on P7 yet. After quick look around this forum, i am lacking some definite answers. Can someone help me?
1. It seems P7 does not have good working CyanogenMod. Am i mistaken?
2. Do i understand correctly that bootloaders are unlocked in newer versions?
3. What custom recovery is stable+working? Is this one prefered choice?
[RECOVERY][Huawei P7][Unofficial TWRP Recovery 3.0.0-0]
4. What is prefered rom to install? Is it stock one, and if so, is there any guide how to update it to the latest good version?
In short, can someone show me good procedure to install good recovery and rom?
Thank you.

Hi!
I'll try to answer
1. There isn't a custom ROM for Huawei P7. There were a reply in Android 6 thread discussing why there aren't a CM developing
2. P7 Bootloader is unlocked, at least for Lollipop B839
3. I installed TWRP 3.0 and work very well.
4. There are several thread to guide to the last Version I think B839

Your right
I prefer stock Rom but if you are rooted you could install xposed (working for P7/android L since a few months)
Here are a lot of threads how to install xposed correctly.

convert EVAtl 00 to EVAL09

Hi everyone,
I started a thread before [https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/help/european-rom-eva-tl00-t3605638] asking how to convert a chinese phone into european.
i couldn't get it working because i didn't have a boorloader code. now i do.
I'm reading on various threads, one thread says you can just flash a eva l09 onto the phone another says you have to change th oeminfo or it won't work.
i'm confused. what do i need to do to flash european frimware onto a chinese eva tl00 phone.
is there a step by step guide on how to do it?
You have to change oeminfo.
For rebranding (including oeminfo) use the tool HWOTA7 from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rebrand-update-tool-hwota7-p9-eva-t3820849
Look into the post #3 - skip the first part about unrooting and downgrading from Oreo (supposing you are not on Oreo).
Read also posts #1 and #2 in the same thread, they contain general usuful and detailed info about using HWOTA7 (although these two posts describe the opposite process, rebranding from EU to Chinese AL10)
thanks

Btw, per your other thread (two opened?!), you have dual SIM (is it?) EVA-TL00C01B377.
In that case you're still on Nougat - as needed for HWOTA7.
But then you can also use HWOTA7 to rebrand to EVA-AL10C00B399 (exactly as in the HWOTA7 thread), where from you upgrade to b528 Oreo.
As explained in the HWOTA7 thread, you can keep dual SIM functionality, you will have GApps (stock), debloated from Chinese apps, you can root it by Magisk and you can even flash treble OpenKirin AOSP ROMs (instead of stock).
It's all described in the HWOTA7 thread. Many of us have just rebranded from European Lx9c432 (Mediteranian and other custs) to Chinese AL10c00b528 because of otherwise we cannot and we would never have Oreo on P9.
So, it's strange that you go in the opposite direction.
lot of trouble

Best way to get upgrade from EMUI 8 to EMUI 9

Good evening all,
I am currently running a P20 Pro (CLT-L09 8.1.0.159(C782)) with Stock EMUI 8 firmware, TWRP recovery and Magisk root.
I am looking for the best way to upgrade to Android Pie (EMUI9).
where do I begin, the huawei app is obviously showing no updates as I am in the UK and apparently a second class citizen!
I have tried the funky huawei method and unfortunately the update fails.
what other method can I use to get to v9 (primarily so I can jump to a custom rom like Lineage
thanks in advance,
Dan.
ps. if I have missed any important info please shout.

Flashing official China rom on the Z5 Pro GT?

Hi All,
Since this thing is available so cheap, I'm considering buying one.
But I do wonder if it is possible to get rid of the crappy 'Global' rom, by flashing an official China rom and install Play store.
The official China rom has OTA-updates and a complete English language option right?

Hi There.
SrCDA guides are your friend.

The unbrick guide is your way to do it, or if you have an 'unmodified' global rom, then the TWRP instalation guide is your way to get TWRP on the phone, and the roms are linked in the unbrick guide.

The 'unmodified' was in parentheses, because there is no such thing, the global rom is a modified and unofficial rom from chinese sellers. So if you rom is a multilanguage ZUI (more then chinese and english) then its a modified version. So if you have a global rom you can use that method.

Hi m8,
Short answer is NO, because it might get softbricked and you don't have a doco dload firmware to use in order to downgrade to previous firmware on your device.
Flashing another device cust firmware was working well whille on EMUI 9.1 and users could flash the international dload firmware version (VOG-L29 C432 one) without the risk of getting softbricked. Once EMUI 10 was released, a lot of users got their devices softbricked, because of security changes inside kernel and within system itself. Some of them managed to revived their units using different methods or when Huawei released the firmware for their devices, but there are still many of those who are waiting for an dload firmware release for their custs.
So my advice is to wait for docomo to release the update and don't flash VOG-L29 C432 dload firmware on your device (or you could do it knowing the risks and assuming them). Untill today, no user from docomo tested if flashing C432 will work, because of the chances of getting a softbrick.

Hi m8,
I will answer for both posts :
1. YES, you can remove them using ADB commands. For how to remove, check my thread from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...w-to-remove-huawei-bloatware-vog-ele-t4014937
For finding out the name of the app you need to remove from your phone, install this app and use the original name of the apk's you need to remove (select app and press details) - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/jumobile/system-app-remover-root/system-app-remover-root-7-1-release/
2. When you say you have the original firmware from docomo, what do you mean by that? Is it the dload firmware that can be flashed using an OTG adapter+memory stick (or Huawei NMCard) or some other firmware? As my knowledge, if you flash an EMUI 10 firmware and got softbricked device, YOU won't be able to downgrade to EMUI 9.1, just using a proper dload firmware (in your case the one released by docomo) could revive your phone. So in your case, i would wait for them to release the update ?
Let me know how can i help you more and be safe

For the dialer you can use the default Google Phone app and Google Contacts, maybe there are closer than what you're used to ?.
NO, you cant modify the firmware prior flashing it. If you / all of us could unlock bootloader and rooted our devices + installed TWRP on our Huawei phones, you could have flashed a custom ROM or remove/adding using ROOT ANY apps you would like. But as we can't unlock our bootloaders anymore, we have to use EMUI as is, customised by docomo or other provider. Only way to have a clean firmware is by getting an international or Chinese version of the device, one with C431 / C432 or AL-00 cust .
Installing other firmware COULD get you a softbricked device. I say could because nobody has yet tested flashing an C432/C431 cust firmware on the Japanese DoCoMo phones .

Ouch, i've replied you earlier about your firmware in case of backup, but it seems that you have a higher release version than the one available on easy-firmware.com (they have VOGUE-L0JB 9.1.0.136(C341E136R1P2) whille you have on your device v9.1.0.182(C341E136R1P2). So in case of flashing a C432 firmware on your device and get a softbrick, you are unable to return to latest available for your device. And as i've seen in your SS, there might be some problems regardless LTE basebands, which may be different in Japanese device vs European (International version).
So i would reccomend you to wait, maybe your next 1-2 firmware updates will bring you EMUI 10, alongside March/April security patches, as now you have January 1st 2020 on it ?

hi , dear SilviuO
unfortunately i haven't read this thread earlier.
I had upgraded my VOG-L0J to VOG-L29 10.1.0.151(C431E19) by using hisuite proxy .
at first , it looks perfect. until I executed factory reset.
now, almost google app are gone because of google play protect failen.
I tried to change to some other firmwares with hisuite proxy , all failed on installing step.
can you give me some advice for this situation?
thank you.

Hi there, m8. If you would asked me before?, i would recomend you to stay on your actual version... But now it's too late, so you will have to try using the GMS methods to install & use Google Services on your device.
I would also reccomend you to use a dload firmware to get back to your original cust, but there's no EMUI 10 n'or EMUI 10.1 dload firmware released for VOG-L0J .
For info about how to install GMS, use YouTube or xda P40 Pro thread:
1. YouTube - link 1 / link 2 or just search for How to install GMS on Huawei P40 Pro
2. P40 Pro xda thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...uide-method-to-install-google-mobile-t4120143 or https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/help/gms-method-t4163345
Good luck,

hi. SilviuO. thank you !
I got a VOG-L0J 9.1.0.136(C341) firmware now.
then I will downgrade to it then upgrade to EMUI10 again.
because I want to find out why google auth failed . before I did factory reset ,everything was ok.
is there risk for it?
thank you again.

If you have an dload firmware for EMUI 9.1 and you will flash it, there's a BIG problem: YOU WILL GET YOURSELF A SOFTBRICKED DEVICE! The only way for you to rollback to EMUI 10 and then to EMUI 9.1 is through HiSuite and by using the right firmware for your device. I know that there's none released, so unless you get yourself (maybe from a Phone Service Center) a dload firmware EMUI 10 or EMUI 10.1 for VOG-L0J to use it, then you'll need to use your device AS IS ?.
Hope you haven't used the EMUI 9.1 firmware untill now and you get to read this before
