Live Focus only on ultra wide camera? - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Hello everyone! I'm currently leaning strongly towards getting an S20 FE, but one of the things holding me back is an uncertainty: does the camera app allow the use of the Live Focus (Portrait) mode with anything other than the ultra wide camera? Some reviews mention this restriction, others don't, and in at least one review I saw a Live Focus photo that looked like it was snapped with the Telephoto camera, like most phones do.
I can't tell if it's a software version issue, a localization issue, or an early unit review issue, or simply a feature, and I was hoping some real world experience can shed some light on this.

Hi. It does not work with ultrawide or telephoto camera...only with 1x camera

Note 9 front camera 5.2 megapixels?? [EXYNOS]

Hi,
I was just playing around with the camera app today and noticed that the front camera was set to 5.2 megapixels, so I was like let's just change it back to 8..
Unfortunately, when I tapped on the front camera options there was no option above 5.2..
Any suggestions that'll fix this?
Do know my device is exynos and I'm running the latest security patch I.e: june one ui

There is 8 mpx.
When you run camera, switch to "wide" angle, and than enter In settings.

Thanks bro..
I mentioned this problem in another thread before. Since we have the wide mode me lost true 8 MP Front Camera. No other mode or camera app except the fake "wide mode" can take pics with 8 MP. Samsung screwed us there big time

Portrait Mode and Wide Angle Switch missing in the camera app

Hello Friends,
I have been using the ROG Phone 2 from the past three days. From yesterday i noticed that the potrait mode and wide angle options are missing from the camera app when i am on the main camera 12MP
I had installed gcam, but i have now unistalled it.
I cleared the data and cache of the camera app.
The issue still exists. Anyone facing this problem? Please help. I have attached the screenshot of the camera interface.

Install a different version of gcam that has the functionality.

What are these dark hole like things in between the camera module of the device?

I assume that these are some sort of sensors to help assist the camera with focus and what not (camera noob here)?
My main question is, should this not be covered while taking photo/video?
The thing is that I recently bought this camera protector and now that I have applied it on my phone, I see that it covers those two holes with black bezels. Is this something to be concerned about?

In my experience, most camera protectors don't interfere with the laser focus, but if you notice any changes in speed or focus ability then definitely remove it ;3

I can focus on text, move the camera a bit back and click on zoom slightly
What the 10 doesn't have is a macro camera and that for me is appalling.
If you're going be using it for reading then use the pro mode or try the gcam. May give better results
Thanks, GCam is a lot better.

Question What is the best camera app alternative for OnePlus 10pro?

Trying to find the best tools before my airshow vacation and was wondering what is the best camera app replacement for this phone.. if you take a gander at my other posts.. I am trying to remove the heat restrictions that the phone is restriciting me from making videos using the stock app.. it claims the phone is too hot...but other apps work fine.. so what is the best OTHER photo or video app out there for this phone.

Probably one of the gcam variants although they differ and are no substitute, there are no XML files for a lot of them and as such they're no replacement for the OnePlus camera.
You could try some others but you'll have to sacrifice certain features or entire lenses, for reliability I couldn't say use anything but the OnePlus camera, but gcam is more than likely the best alternative (if any)
