Verizon non mm wave 5g on unlocked s20 fe? - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

I'm trying to help a friend out who has this wonderful phone. Is there a way for the unlocked US model to utilize Verizons Nation wide 5g? I know it won't work with the mm wave but curious about the nation wide 5g since it uses a different antenna. Any help would be appreciated. I did search the forums and didn't see an answer to this specific question.
Thanks!

There was a firmware update pushed out for the Verizon variant (and other phones) that activated lowband 5G access. The update for the unlocked version has not yet been released.
Does that just do the same thing as your fix?

As it relates to 5g, yes. The verizon push my have other updates and enhancements for the phone, but enabling 5G DSS and the n5 band is done by the software update changing the service mode settings.

No. You want the csc to show vzw/vzw/xaa in software information under about phone in settings, but the unlocked fe model will automatically set this. If it is a carrier version fe, you may need to. For example a t-mobile branded one, you would want to see vzw/vzw/tmb

Do any of those options work on the Exynos versions?

I use this method
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...de-service-mode-csc-guide-enable-lte-t4182293. I bought s20fe Unlocked directly from Samsung and I'm with Verizon. And I have that 5G icon instead of LTE.

Exynos models have a service mode, as long as as you are only working with LTE and not 5g, there are options to work with. The exynos model doesn't have a 5g modem or antennas for 5g service.

It could, I have a UW model so it is hard for me to test. My understanding though is the U1 models are built without the the UW antennas, which if so, would make it impossible without hardware changes.

SM-N960F/DS VoLTE Enable

Hey guys. I got screwed buying a note 9 off of ebay because the seller in the USA did not say it was an international model SM-N960F/DS. I use t-mobile and don't have VoLTE, or VoWifi. Can someone walk me through the process on how to enable this through whatever means necessary. I'm not an idiot with technology and phones but also I have never flashed a new rom or anything. Thanks in advance for your help

Am afraid you can't get VoLTE enabled on the T-Mobile USA network with the international SM-G960F model
You needed the UN-branded US-model SM-N960U or SM-N960U1, or the BRANDED T-Mobile model SM-N960T
Hey it aint no screw i would love a f model in US

You will be able to get VoLTE option in the International version. Just insert VoLTE capable sim from your provider and restart the phone. I have tried it with an Indian sim and works perfect. Once you remove the card, VoLTE option disappears.

I have TMO with VoLTE/WifiCalling working on the F/DS model ordered through ebay with an original CSC of MYM (Thailand/Unknown). You have to have root, make a backup with TWRP, and use the detonator from the thread posted above TekHD's thread. Go to their telegram channel there is more support there and an updated version from bigTINY on TekHD's channel. Do some more reading on it but it is possible to get all your carrier features enabled on the international phone.

Your not alone. My samsung Galaxy Note 9 has the same problem. Yet it in my network information 4glte app it says my phone has volte enabled yet it doesn't work or seem to work for anyone?
After updated to N960FXXS3CSG1, the VOLTE and VOWIFI not work
I am considering picking up a SM-N960F/DS Samsung Galaxy Note 9, installing LineageOS 17.1 with MicroG and use with T-Mobile in the US. I have read that certain T-Mobile Services don't work out of the box, however, I have also read of a TMO Detonator configuration that can be installed which restores those missing features. Is anyone able to share their experience with this Note 9 version on T-Mobile? Did you use TMO Detonator? If so, did TMO Detonator fix all the T-Mobile compatibility issues? If not, which features are still missing? Does Carrier Aggregation work? If not, what LTE Data speeds are possible? Are you happy with the SM-N960F/DS Note 9 experience on T-Mobile? Is there still a site which holds the TMO Detonator File/Package along with Instructions? Any other thoughts or advice? Thanks for your time.

can anyone tell me if a tmobile sim will work on a verizon note 9?

so will it work?
It probably won't work as the Verzon variant of the Note 9 is designed to operate on Verzon's own LTE network.

It will work. ??
ALL US Note 9s are exactly the same. Just different carrier. ??
Verizon started doing carrier locks on the Note 9 like other carriers do. Once it is unlocked you can use Odin patched to flash the globally unlocked firmware or any carriers firmware.
Yes it will work.
Verizon's version is factory unlocked for anysincard lte network across the world.

Note 9 and Firstnet

Good evening all,
I am really hoping someone here can answer this question for me. I have a Note 9 purchased from T-Mobile model SN-N960U. It has been carrier unlocked using the tmobile app. What I was looking to do was take the phone with me over to AT&T Firstnet and use it there. The problem is band 14, which is the primary band firstnet uses. Will my phone work with Firstnet on band 14??? I called Firstnet and they said it would work. The manager at the local AT&T corporate store said since it is a T-Mobile phone that it will not work with band 14. What makes things even more confusion is it appears all Note 9's have the same model number regardless of the carrier it was made for. So can someone here confirm for me if it will or will not work on band 14 for Firstnet?
Thanks!
From what I have been able to find out the N960U does not support the use of LTE band 14. Check here for more information: https://www.phonemore.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9-sm-n960u-512gb/specs/4164

But then you look at GSM arena's site on the Note 9 it says something completely different.

In that case I would take your device to a AT&T retail branch and ask if they have a test SIM, which they can use on your device.
Yes. The Note 9 will absolutely work on FirstNet. Doesn't matter if it's a T-Mo device, they are all identical. When you put in the FirstNet SIM it will provision for that carrier.

I actually did try that today and they said they do not have "test" ones and can only do it if they actually setup an account which would require me porting my number over from Tmobile and going through all that.

Mr. Orange thanks for that article, that is one I had not seen yet while doing my research. Are you sure that article is not talking about just ATT "branded" Note 9's? I am cautious because when I put it in to service mode *#2263# it does not list band 14 with all the other ones it has. Is it some kind of hidden band that will enable itself when a Firstnet SIM is put in to the phone?

Nope. This has been discussed many, many times. Since the S8/+ all the US (and Canadian) Galaxy devices have identical hardware. That is why we can flash the N960U1 firmware on the N960U and vice versa. If the hardware was different, it wouldn't flash. It's just different firmware and carrier features preloaded on each device version.
N960U1 = N960U = N960W

Do I have to get a VZW Note 9 (960U ?)to have Wifi and HD calling on Verizon?

I just cracked the front glass on my Note 8 and UbreakIt wants $250+ to replace the glass/screen so I am looking into a Note 9 as an option.
I am wondering Do I have to get a VZW Note 9 (SM-N960UZBAVZW for instance ) to have Wifi and HD calling on Verizon? Or can I buy an Exynos model and wifi and HD calling will still work on the VZW network?

no, but you do have to be running vzw firmware which is flashable in Odin.
you CANNOT use a Exynos anything on vzw tho. gsm only phones.
any of the N960U models will work as long as they have the vzw firmware on them
ps: it requires the vzw f/w because its a vzw service that needs to be provisioned

fell free its just that saying that a korean n9500 is a snapdragon device is wrong in many ways.
plus the correction of saying its a korean n950 snapdragon is also wrong. a typo is a mistake that dosen't really change anything in a statement. being wrong across the board needs to be adressed or at least corrected especialy when this information was supposed to serve as help and be informative to another user(which in this case had 2 problems in the statement). I'm not trying to nit pick at you, more at the relevance and correctness of your posts so that others get the correct information.
the only bootloader unlockable snapdragon devices are the Chinese and south American n9500, n9600, etc.. and so on
the korean n950n, n960n and so on are exynos.

on n960u and n960u1 devices, which are multi sim, have all US carriers csc files already. it will just switch.
on international devices such as the n960f for example, this behavior will not happen since the region of the device doesn't contain USA (XAA) csc.
but that's just talking about csc.
if we talk about modems and the technology used to connect to bands, Verizon uses CDMA. all n960u and n960u1 have the hardware to use both cdma and gsm. on the other hand, the n960f ( and F/DS or even n960n) unfortuanlty do not have the hardware required to connect through CDMA networks. so F devies wont even connect at all to provider.(neither F/DS or n960n)
this is pretty common knowledge and is not new. search and read.
one caveat would be the intl. Chinese or South American N9600 devices. they have the ability to connect to both CDMA and GSM networks plus having the ability to unlock the bootloader(custom recovery/rooting). the advanced carrier options will probably not work completely( csc). but that being said ,calls and data will work fine. uppon rooting, some of the xda community have made flashable zip files to try and restore these missing csc festures.( volte, wificalling ...etc)

Question [Dead](QPST) Enabling Cellular Bands on the Snapdragon 888 on Mi 11/Pro/Ultra

Hello,
I'm looking to inquire some help on enabling otherwise blocked bands on these devices. I live in the U.S. and could greatly benefit from it. I looked at some posts on using the QPST and QXDM tools for Qualcomm devices, however I am a bit out of my depths as far as this goes. I know that 888 has a built-in modem (x60) but I couldn't find any material on all the bands it supports. If anyone of you could help point me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks

These worked for me. It will say turned carrier check off then you can find the option to turn VoLTE/VoWIFI on under the sim section (for each sim installed).
However, I'm trying to enable blocked bands on the snapdragon's modem. Some of them they don't enable on different phones because of legalities and some just aren't supported by the chip.
