I used the sim tool inside the microphone hole. Will it affect water resistance?

No because the microphone and the water resistant covering are not directly in line with the microphone hole. It sits at 90 degrees so basically it's like an 'L' chamber.

Audio jack or Speaker problem..

hi all..i have problem with my Xperia which is Earphone icon always appear even i didnt used earphone..this problem make my phone doesnt have ringtone and only can accept call if using earphone..anyone have suggestion to overcome this problem..or does anyone know how to disable the audio jack?..i already task29,using original ROM and used many other ROM in order to repair this thing..but didnt have any luck..thanks for any kind help..
It sounds like your audio jack is jammed. I suggest you start playing music through your usual media player and carefully insert a very fine screwdriver or similar into the audio jack. Wiggle it lightly until the music starts playing through the speaker.
thanks for that but still no luck
Just had the same problem and managed to solve it. take a torch light, look into the audio jack, the outer most metal connector has been depressed. use alcohol on cotton bud to clean the connector, then use a needle to lift up the outer most metal.

[How to] Fix mic not working

First of all, try sucking on the mic holes.
Suck the top mic if mic is not working in portrait orientation or suck the right mic if it is not working in landscape.
It seems that the different mic is used when in different orientation. (Portrait => Top mic, Landscape => right mic)
Secondly, it sounds stupid but make sure nothing is obstructing both the mic holes.
If it doesn't work;
1. Pry open the back of the cover. Start from the top left or right corner. Should come off easily with fingernails.
2. Depends on which orientation when the mic doesn't work, pull off the rubber thing so that you can access the inside hole.
3. Take any clean brush and brush the hole thoroughly.
Taking off the back cover doesn't void the warranty but taking off the rubber for the mic might void the warranty.
No problem in recording quality after removing the rubber.

Fixing the crap microphone issue on a single Din unit

I've spent hours reading the various threads since getting my HU last Novemeber. Absolutely love it, especially with the Malaysk roms on, does everything I could want it to, except make a bloody phone call. If the other end can hear me it's very faint at best.
Mine was supplied by Pumpkin, they have tried to help with a microphone app and various settings, none made the slightest difference.
There were a few posts about adding an external mic by finding the BT card after dissasembly and wiring to the mic+ and Sgnd legs on the card. Last night I eventually bit the bullet and took mine completely to piecese. Unfortunately I couldn't find a BT card, maybe it's built in, or on chip or...... But I gave up looking for it. What I did find on the front panel was the original pathetic little mic, way back from the tiny hole. You can't drill it bigger as it knocks the mic out of place.
My fix, made simpler now I know what I'm doing (it took me a lot longer and many more steps.
Take off main case
Pull tape off DVD drive to extend ribbon cable
Flip up black tab at the back of the ribbon cable connection on the screen and slide out ribbon and put screen aside
Remove two small screws from the side of the faceplate and using a flat blade screwdriver release the faceplate
Flip up tabs on both ribbon connectors and remove ribbons, I found it easier doing the short one first
unscrew all circuit boards screws in the faceplate circuit (7) and remove faceplate
Drill a hole in the rear of the unit above the ISO connector to feed a cable through
Carefully desolder the horrible little mic from the right hand side of the circuit (labelled mic1) and clean the holes
Take a mini jack extension lead and cut off the male end - either a mono one or if stereo you want the wires for the top part and the middle part of the connector stripped and feed through the hole, I also put a very small tie wrap inside with the tag outside so I could hold the wire tight and not strain the solder - tightened after assembly
The positive (top part) goes on the inside connection. I soldered this to the top of the board
The ground goes to the other terminal - these are so close together that I soldered this on the underside to ensure no contact
Reassemble in reverse of above (making sure all faceplate buttons are in place (yes I forgot the eject and screen buttons)
Then connect any unpowered condenser Mic and all of a sudden fantastic vocie clarity, quite a phenomenal difference.
I used this mic from Amazon, https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01F84YMZQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Happy for this to get merged into another thread, but I couldn't find one specifically about the mic problem with the single din unit.
Was there no factory fitted connection for an external mic? Mine does have one. Then it would be simple to just disconnect the internal mic right?

No, no external mic connection on the single din units. Confirmed by Pumpkin. Bit of a silly oversight

Where is the MIC?

Usually MIC is on the bottom side of a phone, but i don't see any microphone hole. Up there is one for recording but I can't find where MIC for calling exists.

Nokia 8 loudspeakers/headphone jack

Hello,
Maybe someone can give any tips in regards to the issue below. with my nokia 8
So few days ago my phone speakers started sounding distorted, I thought that it may be because water got in the speakers, as I put it on the counter by a shower, but even then the water it could of gotten was minimal due to the shower curtain and yeah. Well now the speakers are completely offline. I haven't installed no apps or updates.
Today after sound was already gone, I tried some apps that disable headphone jack, which ofc didn't work.
The earpiece is working and mic is working as well. When I plug in headphones, those work as well.
The weird thing is I tried blowing into headphone jack and I got sound for a brief period of time.
Now started more testing and well when I apply air pressure (covering headphone jack with my mouth and applying small amount of pressure) speakers work. Tried cleaning the headphone jack and nothing, only when air pressure is applied it works.
As a tech guy I can't imagine what could be wrong in this case, as there are no visible signs of water in the jack, there is nothing physically wrong with the phone other than the lack of sound and why would applying air pressure fix it and how to permanently fix it without warranty. I don't want to take it to warranty as the service usually takes a long time and I can't do with a temp/spare phone right now.
Hopefully someone can help me out,
Thank you
Even though your phone might have been only a bit splashed, humidity from the steamed bathroom could easily get inside, since Nokia 8 is only IP54 certified.
Try drying it like a water dumped phone. Turn it off, take out the SIM card tray and put the phone in rice. Let it lay down for at least a day. It might work, but if it won't, well, you might need a repair service.
well for oxidation you don't need to drop your phone into toilet, even small humidity can brake your phone, electronic is very sensitive
